I'm doing a Prospero-red thousand sons and this is exactly what I needed to elevate my painting... I figured out how to do golds, but reds has eluded me and I am scared to experiment on the gorgeous models. Thank you for giving me the confidence!
So just a quick idea- use Incubi Darkness when mixed with Khorne Red instead of black to add a bit more contrast to the model, I use it and personally it’s looks much nicer
JuanHidalgo Miniatures Oh and use it instead of pure black in the recesses too, straight Incubi Darkness I mean. It looks excellent and makes the red really pop
I've been hoping for a tutorial like this, as I'm collecting a Vampire force, and will use these techniques to paint the armour finish I want on them now. Beautiful video tutorial. Thank you so much for making my dream come true :-D
I had som talent for drawing in my teens and early 20s, but life came around and I havent drawn for 10+ years and all my pent up creativity loves painting warcry warbads with my 2 kids that are 10 and 12. However Ive never used acrylics and struggled abit finding consistensies of paint I like/works and it doesnt help i put my expectations far to high, but i just wanted to say I super love these videos, they are strangly indepth, but yet simple. Absolutly best material Ive come across.
Shovel knight has a mate! Amazing paint job! I was wondering where you were going with this and then you added the red filter... brought it together like the dudes carpet brought his room together!
Gees, that's just sick. Now paint a whole army like that.. 🤣🤣 seriously though, I'm about to take the delve into NMM, I can see I've got a bit more understanding of do before I get anywhere near this level...... great job, really good 👍🏻🤣
So to simplify, the highlight colors are squig orange ( a slightly desaturated orange) wild rider red ( a very red orange) in a 1:1 mixture of white, and lugganath orange (a pinkish desaturated orange) and the very last highlight with white.
Love your vids! If I had one tiny request, it would be let us in on why you choose certain paints. Like your glaze for example to cover your transitions
You mean the Blood Angels Red? That's just because it's an amazing red colour and Contrast Paints glaze like a dream. You could also use something like the old Bloodletter glaze or red ink but I find Contrast Paints just work better and are beautifully transparent
Saw it on FB in angel Giraldez group, immediately liked the video and aboed you 😁 will try sth similar on my iron man from marvel United, thx for the video
beautiful work, as always, very impressive. My blood angels will never be done any other way now (you have created huge work for me lol) small suggestion : If you talk your way through the one leg (as you did), could you add in the footage of the rest of the miniature, it would not need to be narrated, but would be extremely useful. (I do understand the time it takes to edit and present, but would be really really useful)
The problem is it's not even recorded. I had to literally paint the rest during work hours just to finish it on time, so I took the paints and mini to my work and used literally every spare second painting it. Sorry mate. Also my camera can only record for 30 minutes at a time so I just record the steps and there is not much more footage extra to use. If you want high resolution pictures just let me know and I will send them to you.
Sencillamente perfecto.
Incredible work as always but that's a lot of work for 1 mini. I can see that for a character model but its way to much for an army. Would you make a video about mid to high level army painting techniques that's not so time consuming.
I don't know how you do it, you make all this stuff seem so easy and good. But when ever someone else tries, it just looks shit. Do we not hate blue enough?
Already done, yellow NMM is gold basically, go check that video out. If you want something that is yellow NMM and doesn't look like gold, then I wish you luck. That's EXTREMELY hard to achieve. Sorry
Not necessarily, Lugganath Orange is super bright, don't always trust how things look on camera as cameras can shift colours a bit despite our best efforts to match it.

stunning the source lighting on the base really adds to it... lols im just happy with battle ready right now but one day...
Thanks! I just have fun painting
Your glazing skills and brush control are truly amazing. Ive decided you must be some kind of Wizard.
Thanks mate 😘
So just a quick idea- use Incubi Darkness when mixed with Khorne Red instead of black to add a bit more contrast to the model, I use it and personally it’s looks much nicer
That's actually a very clever idea, Thanks! I will try it for the next one
JuanHidalgo Miniatures
Oh and use it instead of pure black in the recesses too, straight Incubi Darkness I mean. It looks excellent and makes the red really pop
Yea Darren Lathams advice is great
Also try using flesh tearers red instead of blood angels red. This red really helps eliminate the orange to keep it looking like blood shot red.
Already tried that and I prefer the vibrant red of Blood Angels better.

Everytime you make a new vid I have to rethink what my new favorite paint job of yours is!
Then I'm doing all the right things
This this is what I have been looking for the past two weeks! Thanks

Another tough technique made to look simple and inspire. Well done.
Thanks

Absolutely incredible painting there mate, love it!
Thanks mate 😘
Shovel knight has a mate! Amazing paint job! I was wondering where you were going with this and then you added the red filter... brought it together like the dudes carpet brought his room together!
Lol, yeah, the glaze is important to tie Everything together
Absolutely nuts how good this looks

Good Lord you make that look so easy! Beautiful!
Thanks
the nmm red is just stunning
Thanks
Fantastic paintjobs. Very impressive 👍
Thanks! I really appreciate it
Beautifully painted

Always a pleasure to see more NMM from you dude!

Oh yes, very very nice indeed. Great job

Que épico el final con esa música. El NMM está increíble.

Dude thank you so much for this. This is just what I was looking forto push my skill set when I start my blood angel project.

So to simplify, the highlight colors are squig orange ( a slightly desaturated orange) wild rider red ( a very red orange) in a 1:1 mixture of white, and lugganath orange (a pinkish desaturated orange) and the very last highlight with white.
Basically yes, those are the steps
@@JuanHidalgoMiniaturesthank you, I tend to mix my colors so I was trying to break down the true colors of the gw paints.
That is a great practice actually. I just provide the most replicable method possible, thus avoiding mixes if I can.
No free hand on that shield, what a fail...j/k lol. Great job as always, you never fail to impress.
Thanks 😊
Looks fantastic.
Thanks
This is so clean and perfect
I'm glad you like it! 😊
Amazing technique

Supercool video!! Maybe sometime do one on green NMM? Could be cool for Salamanders characters :-)

Who down voted this?! This is absolutely superb work and it's not blue...which you hate for some reason.
They probably like to paint everything blue
What was the song in the background while painting - was it from shovel knight too?
Amazing tutorial - TY
No, it's from the TH-cam audio library. I don't know how it's called sorry.
And thanks!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I need to know what it's called
Absolutely incredible! Thank you for the amazing Tutorial!! P.s Any news on World Eaters 'Eavy contrast coming soon? ;)
They are next ones, but not sure when that will be sorry
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Awesome! Really looking forward to it
finally this is it!!!

How did you paint that gold I've allways wanted to Learn that
Click the cards on the top right hand corner. The video is linked there
Exceptional work, thank you for the tutorial JH! Raphael 8404 for acrylics!? You're mad! I'll order some.
I'm using Rosemary and Co Series 33 size 3 here
Do you mix and glaze on a wet pallet or dry?
Always get a wet palette
Will there be a second video for the gold parts? Or should I just look at another video of yours?
No there won't. They are done exactly the same as the video that is linked in the cards. Just click on the right top corner
Do you thin down your paints with water or thinner?
When I use thinner I say it and clearly note it
Is the brush you’re using a Raphaël brush size 1 or size 0?
None of those. In the latest videos I'm using a Rosemary and Co Series 33 size 3 mostly
Thanks
It looked so messy at the beginning but the result is fantastic.
Could you do Carcharadons 40k Chapter?
No sorry, that won't happen. Only 18 Marines will ever be made and not a single more. I want to move into other things
JuanHidalgo Miniatures alright thanks though
i think those first 2 reds will do with my level of skill lol
😂😂😂😂
Incredible work as always but that's a lot of work for 1 mini. I can see that for a character model but its way to much for an army. Would you make a video about mid to high level army painting techniques that's not so time consuming.
That's basically what the Eavy Contrast series is. I don't paint lower than that ever
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures wow thats insane so your entire army is at this level how long does it take to paint entire unites like that?
Not at this level, this is WAY above Eavy Contrast level. But look at how I painted the marines for example, that's how I paint armies
Oh, butt commented, and still got a like. Anyway, I'll try this on my Underworlds vampires.
Great choice!
Outstanding! But why you uploading a red video today when i am also uploading a red video today lol
😘
I don't know how you do it, you make all this stuff seem so easy and good. But when ever someone else tries, it just looks shit. Do we not hate blue enough?
Probably not 😂
What model is that?
Heavily converted Stormcast
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Thanks for replying! And so quickly, too. I love the conversion. Is the disk in her right hand a buckler?
Yeah, both shields are 3d models and printed, it's a super simple thing to model.
She is based on Shield Knight from the Shovel Knight games
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

If you want something that is yellow NMM and doesn't look like gold, then I wish you luck. That's EXTREMELY hard to achieve. Sorry
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures oh I didn't knew, thanks I will watch the gold one .
Anyone else finding that the latest lugganath orange is a lot more brighter orange than the one in video? maybe i have a dud pot.
Not necessarily, Lugganath Orange is super bright, don't always trust how things look on camera as cameras can shift colours a bit despite our best efforts to match it.
OMG 💪🤓💚
Thanks
