I didn't despise it like some but you can't blame the channel for not "giving them enough episodes" when they had so much filler in the first half and then suddenly "STOMP ON THE GAS, IT'S PLOT RESOLUTION TIME."

    • @leotamer5

It also only need Season 1, Season 2, Battle for Mewni, then maybe just maybe you can have season 3 for Elicapsa and Meteroa, but as good as Elicapsa was, a lot of the monster racism stuff was really not handled well.

Actually I do blame the channel, because from what I understand they asked for the filler under the impression that comedy episodes do better than action/adventure episodes of SvFoE.

    • @danielkrause1357
      @danielkrause1357 4 ปีที่แล้ว +337

We all knew Starco was gonna happen. But HOW it happened is the real problem.
1: Star and Tom breaking up in "Lake House Fever" would've been better for the character development. Plus your right. Tom puts in so much effort and change that when he confronts Star about her and Marco kissing, he doesn't explode in anger he's hurt and betrayed.😢💔 (But "Teenagers Are Dumb! They Break Up All The Time!". Right Daron Nefcey!😠)Them breaking up that early would have taught Star that she was a bad girlfriend and should've just focused on helping Eclipsa not suck at being queen.
2: In "Kelly's World" Marco and Kelly shouldn't have started dating at all! Kelly did need to move on from Tad. But not by dating Marco, but by exploring and trying new things. Also, if Marco really loved Star he wouldn't get together with someone because he's conflicted about ruining his friendship with both Star and Tom.
Someone in the comments said that there was no point to Starco because Star and Marco didn't learn any impactful lessons before getting together.
Also, if they used The Photo from "Booth Buddies" as plot device to remind them of their feelings for each other after having the Blood Moon Curse lifted it would've made them getting together feel more satisfying.

They could have transformed Mina into a more serious villian while still maintaining her charm, like they did with Ludo. They could've had her actually go nuts seeing monsters living among mewmans and everyone being fine. They could've showed Mina actually supporting racism and getting a large following of mewman supermesists, and even have the audience sympathize for her in the end because of her insanity, but no. Doing THAT would take away from Starco, which is all anyone cares about.

Assuming that the writers actually properly developed the idea by having likeable Mewmans, I feel like Moon would have worked the best as a season 4 villain. She is the one who pushed Mewni back into the war against the monsters, so having her be the bad guy in a plot about bringing together both sides makes sense. If she bonded with some Mewmans who feel like they were wronged by Eclipsa I could see her growing to see herself as a defender of those people. Instead the idea barely gets developed and she helps Star at the end despite no realization that she was in the wrong, only that Mina was insane.

I think the most upsetting thing about season 4 is how badly it screwed over the main characters. I always praised this show for its central cast, all the characters were great and played off each other. Star was my absolute favorite, I jokingly called her my favorite Disney princess all the time. But in season 4 she’s terrible, her personality shifts constantly to push the writer’s agenda, and it makes her ridiculously unlikable. Everyone (in the show) always compliments her for “how far she has matured” when honestly, all she did this season was regress as a character. Marco and Moon were pretty unpleasant this season as well, but I digress. Tom is the real MVP this season

Star became unlikable in season 4. Season 4 was a horrible let down.

    • @SaKura-il8op
      @SaKura-il8op 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

Moon! She was one of my favorite characters! She started out as the unlikable posh strict mom caricature, that literally caused psychological problems for Star, but overtime we see there is more to her. We see that she is actually quite mature and see her acknowledge Star‘s good sides as opposed to only criticizing her. We see her being genuinely worried about Star, slipping out of her perfect „everything under control facade“. And we see why she became the way she is: she used to be just as awkward and carefree as Star, but had to take an enormous responsibility at only 14 years old and therefore had to grow up too fast. We even get to witness her first steps at that. We see her struggle with the loss of her mother and her new responsibilities before succeeding. I was very interested in seeing her grow further, but unfortunately she kind of slips back into the old posh strict mom caricature in season 3. She is not understanding of Star anymore and treats her like a nuisance and forgets her previously learned lessons (monsters are similar to mewmans, battle for mewni) and refuses to learn any new ones (Eclipsa isn’t evil, proven numerous times). In season 4 she just lazes around for the majority of her screentime and ignores all trouble, which just completely contradicts her responsible nature. And at the end... wow! The twist makes absolutely no sense. It was always important to Moon that Star got more responsible, so why would she destroy everything Star worked for? Not only that, but she put her beloved daughter in mortal danger. Her motive doesn’t make sense either. Eclipsa didn’t mean to curse Moon. She only wanted to protect her daughter, something that moon should understand, and the fact that Moon went missing was beyond her control and not done on purpose, also she redeemed herself by cursing Meteora. Why would Moon still be upset enough to betray her? The thing about twist villains is, that the villain has to be not only surprising, but also logical. Moon would be one of the most shocking twist villains of done right, but as this completely disregards her personality and values, it just doesn’t make sense and doesn’t have this shocking effect. You can’t just randomly make a character a twist villain to make the story more interesting. It doesn’t and on top of that ruins the character.
Sry, if this got too long, I got carried away as I used to really care about the characters of SVTFOE, but it got kinda ruined in S3 and obviously ruined in S4. Also let’s not talk about this dumpster fire of a finale, thanks.

    • @tizooky
      @tizooky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +28

Sa Kura Exactly this!! I didn’t touch on Moon’s character in my original comment since I didn’t want it to run too long, but she was certainly one of the most disappointing aspects of season 4. The fact that the show was able to do grossly misunderstand one of their most important characters is baffling to me. I see what they were trying to do, I really do, but like most of the pieces of this season, there was no buildup to her betrayal and it made it feel unsatisfying and out of character. It sort of feels like, in these last few episodes, the writers wrote her as a twist villain first and a mother to Star second. There is no way Moon would ever act this irrationally and put her daughter in such danger. BfM Moon and season 4 Moon are just not the same character anymore.

The show has a lot of the same flaws as svtfoe, some really bad, and really lazy writing, especially in season one where it was *very* formulaic, and dragging out the whole "will they won't they" of the main characters, even introducing two alternative love interests for both of them to make the audience think they won't ever end up together, but I think we all know that's not true.

The whole thing about magic was that the Queens of Mewni had managed to abuse the monsters like they did because they had the unfair advantage of magic, and that if magic didnt existed, they would be at the same level, like, the cause of genocide and abuse would be gone. Which makes sense in theory but is a faulty premise. Its the equivalent to make all guns disappear to end murder; people will find another way to kill each other. What should have been done was to introduce bureocracy to mewni and restrict spell making, magic usage, ban it from military choices and so on and on. Is specially jarring because with Eclipsa and then Meteora as queens, those things werent likely to happend again.

Yeah, I always knew they weren't gonna be the end couple but surely the writers could have treated their relationship a little better than unceremoniously ending it between episodes. Dark Shadow Storm I’m sorry but with how much time they devoted to developing Marco and Kelly’s relationship, that “red herring” excuse holds no water. They devoted a lot of scree time to this pairing, similar to Star and Tom’s relationship, and keep in mind that this little romance arc spanned over two seasons and they even had an episode in season 4 dedicated to their relationship, you can’t just spend that much time on a relationship only to drop it OFFSCREEN. I’ll be blunt with you here, all of that time spent with them is POINTLESS now because they didn’t even conclude it on screen. And it doesn’t make ANYONE happy. The people who were invested in Kellco will only be disappointed and outright angry at this and people who wanted the show to develop Starco will only be pissed that it wasted so much time on Kellco that could’ve been used to develop Star and Marco’s relationship, which would’ve been a much better decision since Starco was the ship they actually finalized. Overall this was just stupid and weak writing that makes me question how much the writers actually thought through the story.

Instead of destroying magic, Star should've created a means that would decide who's fit to use it or not; like a sort of failsafe.
For example, Moon's actions towards Eclipsa would've caused this failsafe to momentarily or permanently cut off her magical power. But destroying it altogether also destroys billions of lifeforms who live off of it or were born from it.
As for idiots like the High Commission, they were failures at their job anyway. So, their deaths weren't very tragic. If anything Glosseryck was the only capable one who managed magic.

Back when Season 1 aired, I was all for Star and Marco, but by the finale, not so much. It ended up feeling forced with a needlessly complicated love... I wouldn't call it a triangle... more like an hourglass or something. And they had ideas that seemed to hint at something, only to not go anywhere. Like when Ludo pulled out those handmade statues of Star and Marco, but it never leads to anything. I also remember hearing that the voice actor for Tom hated the finale because of how his character was basically pushed aside.
Also, realistically speaking, a small group of teens can't expect to end racism when it's been so prevalent for thousands of years in a single day or in a few days. That stuff takes a lot of time and tensions simmering down naturally. Forcing two races and cultures together only cause a culture clash in which both sides start to hate each other more.

Oh I wish the blood moon did what it did and ended on tomstar and kellco.
Having the blood moon be some allegorical message that main characters can remain friends and overall its toxic to push people together because they're friends when its against what they want.
That would've been AMAZING, and shown a lot of growth for the characters while also subverting a cliche.
In fact it feels like their desperate attempts to make starco work just drag down the show and make it more cliche and less interesting.
Tomstar is a genuinely fascinating relationship with problems and bonding and star and Tom work with each other like a real couple, they're not perfect but being imperfect doesn't mean they can't improve. Not to mention I liked the idea of them getting back together better then before and improving each other, not to mention the potential for Tom to help star further advocate for monsters.
But the show didn't do this because of starco, they avoided this potential to be like "nah, they can't work things out, they don't need to move on or learn to let go".
Starco serves no purpose thematically, theres no reason to get them together because nothing is really stopping them and they never conquer anything internally before they date.
Jarco was about Marco coming out of his shell and gaining courage and not putting jackie on a pedistle and recognizing her as a person instead of a fantasy.
Tomstar was about learning to do better for someone and to respect people's wishes and all about second chances and that they're ok.
Kellco was about moving on and finding happiness elsewhere instead of focusing on what you don't have or on a dream. Marco and Kelly wanted to move on instead of wallowing in misery about star and tad for the rest of their lives.
Starco has none of this, theres no emotional hurdles to go through to get them together. Star nor Marco changes themselves as a person for the other in a romantic way, neither ever put the other on a pedistle, they don't learn anything that make them getting together more satisfying for their characters.
They both wave off their previous relationships as if they meant nothing and don't appear to learn anything from then so instead after watching star be awful to Tom for awhile we're just supposed to be ok with her in another relationship instantly despite how bad it was.
The idea of then moving on from each other could've been touching but based on the ending the show seems to think if you just string along your partners eventually the person you should be with will eventually reciprocate your feelings and you can ditch that love with no repercussions.
Moving on doesn't work when the characters don't actually move on and end up with said person anyway.
Starco could've been more interesting but it wasn't, nothing was really learned, there were no insightful things it had to say romance wise, there was little about it that made it different from other relationships like it, and it feels like the show could've removed it for the most part and little would change.
They got together cause people wanted them to and for no other reason without any consideration for anything else.
I want the show to be rebooted someday. It has great potential under the right crew, but this end was a mess and you get the impression the crew put what they wanted to do over what made sense for the story, characters, world, ect.
Cause boy, it sure doesn't feel like they realized the problem with removing magic till twitter bursted about star committing genocide.

Honestly I wanted Tom to dump Star simply because he deserves better than how Star treats him. And if Kellco wasn’t important than why did it’s development span TWO SEASONS? The ending just proves how self centred she is as she basically caused a panic, not in her world, but in the ENTIRE damn multiverse, but it’s fine, cause she gets to stay with her TWO DAY boyfriend :)

Season 3 and 4 was mostly made up of a couple episodes of buildup before solving the issue. Examples include: Meteora was a threat for three episodes before being taken down, Moon’s disappearance is only a problem for a few episodes, and the most egregious of this example, the buildup for destroying magic was a SINGLE episode. Star‘s decision to uproot the entire multiverse, killing millions of innocent people, destroying countless societies, and cut off any sort of interdimensional relationships was from a fucking TEMPER TANTRUM.

The finale is horrible because it flips what was happening in Mewni. In Mewni, the monsters were under the heels of humans, which led to many conflicts and many wars. There was a lot of discrimination and hate and murder, and it was revealed that there were more human settlements than monster ones. Mewmans and monsters slowly began to get over their differences and the vestiges of a racist kingdom's history (personified by Meenah) were mostly rejected by the populace.
But then the Mewni and Earth dimensions fused.
    FUSED.
Every geographical location got squashed together. Humans were seen, in the finale, running around in terror because of the appearance of monsters, who no one on earth has any experience with. Cars and houses were destroyed. Now we have a story of humans being displaced by monsters. They are NOT going to take this well, and Star has to deal with a victimized group suddenly being put on the side of unwilling victimizers. Everyone is going to be confused and angry and afraid.
And because magic is dead, all the portals to all the different universes have closed. Commerce has been limited to only being inside your own universe. Imagine the economic impact of multi-universe businesses suddenly being literally cut apart because some idiot girl decided that "oooo magic is sooo bad there's no way to use it responsibly". Friendships were torn. All of Stars friends were pushed back into the worlds they were born in (except Ponyhead, which makes no sense because she's also from another dimension, so basically she's now stranded away from all her family and her father, King Pony). I hazard to say that if Eclipsa and Globgor were married, then there were other intelligent inter-species relationships across the multiverse. Star basically said "fuck you" to all of them and destroyed families.
And every magical creature ever, both good AND bad, is now dead.
    ALL of them.
Star is basically a goddess who got bored with her creations and decided to wipe the sandbox clean. And she was too stupid to realize that.
And the worst part is, Meenah is still around. Meenah is still alive and hateful and angry. And she's in the new earth with all the mewmans and humans and monsters.
Who are displaced humans going to listen to? A girl with hearts on her cheeks whose grandmother is married to one of the people who crashed into their houses and buildings? Or a girl who knows how to tug on people's heartstrings and is a primed manipulator and war strategist?
Star. Made. Her. Problems. 100. Times. Worse. And now she has no one to turn to for help. Because, once again, all the worlds are closed off forever.

I think the show should have decided to have an overarching story early on, maybe half way into the first seasons or in the first few episodes of the second seasons. Season 3 ended pretty nicely so if Season 4 had built on that instead of trying to add a whole new story, it could have worked. Just find Moon and ditch the Mewmans on Earth if they don't want to live under Eclipsa. Magic could stay the same and the Mewmans wouldn't have to deal with monsters.

I Agree with everything said, but I have more complaints. Yes, I admit that the pure magic's lotus-eater effect was disturbing, but that was literally it for clues that it caused trouble. Honestly, the final would have been better if they had to destroy magic due to the entire pool being tainted by eclipsa's magic. Don't get me wrong I don't understand how her magic can taint the pure magic I mean she created it from that source, and even if it was different due to that spell making process, it is in essence just normal magic. Star made a huge point of that when she was defending eclipsa in her trial.
Wait that brings up an even more anger-inducing point. They made absolutely sure that we knew that her forbidden spells were not that bad I mean other queens made spells that sliced people in two and or literally pulled squirrels inside out, but HER magic has the corrupting influence? Becouse of this, the magic high commission were right about her needing to be locked up due to her indirectly causing magic to go violent and destructive. My god, I didn't realize until now that in the last few episodes that the ruined all of the eclipsa plotlines, she is a force of destruction that I assume would have destroyed the entire multiverse if all magic went dark. I mean toffee almost destroyed all magic the exact same way, and this version seems to be even more destructive to the point that most magical items would probably go on killing sprees if they got the chance.
Then there are the two conflicting plot points about magic and monsters that make everything more frustrating. Monsters wanted magic to make there lives easier, but they showed that magic made the mewmans too reliant on it, turning them into overgrown children. Were they suggesting that no one should have magic, or are they saying that everyone should? It is possible that if everyone had some contact to the magic, then it would be much safer do to the common sense that would start to develop in a larger magic-using society, and they would have a much stronger grasp on magic as a whole due to institutions being able to study it.

Okay here's my question about Star VS: Since when were mewmans activley hateful towards monsters? No think about it for a second, When this idea was introduced in mewnipendence day what was Stars reaction to the story when Marco pointed out how fucked up and horrible the holiday and the events it's actually based around were: She was Horrified. Star didn't hate monsters, she faught them because they were trying to steel her shit but she treated them like a nusance, she faught when they showed up then left them alone, hell she was casually talking with buff frong and acting as a babyswitter for Buff Frong. And this was Mewni's Princess, as in the person who benifited from the past the most and will have grown up in an area surounded by this stuff.; and she wasn't hateful, she was ignorant.
In my opninon that should have been how the whole show worked, not actively hateful, but ignorant and missguided; thus Star could actually make changes. Also we wouldn't need to nuke magic for whatever fucking reason.

Without "Cleaved" and the last 5 mins. of "Tavern", Season 4 still would've been either pretty good, or lukewarm.
The problem is, they exist, and somehow, literally none of the characters...none of them come off sympathetic as a consequence. While everyone calls out Star, quite rightly, she did have to think quickly and she was arguably manipulated by Glossaryk with The Tapestry into the decision...
Glossarayk, who was the one that gave mewmanity the magic in the first place and decided to give Meteora the boost needed to implicate her, a baby into the mess.
But whatever, it's because of Moon's stupidity that the whole situation even happened. And we're supposed to see it as a small error of judgment.
Then there's Eclipsa, whose actions as queen brought the backlash to cause the final act, and she herself enabled Star.
Marco's only concern is a teenage selfishness of wanting to be w/ Star.
Hekapoo just wanted her own death at any cost.
And not one of them even stopped to think of the consequences. Not one of 'em.
Also, the audience surrogate of S4 is clearly Tom.

Ludo still had Toffee's eye, so Toffee could've snuck out wherever Ludo is keeping the eye, slowly regenerated from that. maybe during the meteora vs Queen moon fight, he could've accidentally stumbled upon Moon get blasted by Meteora and flee into the portal. At the End of season 3, an epilogue with the head of Toffee talking to Seph about the whole ordeal. They talk about it's a good time to strike. Seph is now the series finale boss instead of Mina.

I know I’m late to this but I saw this in my recommended list and I agree with everything in this video except one thing. Eclipsa does care about her kingdom. Hear me out. In the book of spells, when Solaria was queen, the monster mewman war was bad. And I mean brutal. I don’t know when globgor and Eclipsa met or how they developed a relationship because the book of spells never implied any of that, but Eclipsa and globgor developed a relationship in their youth, and while solaria despises monsters and has the goal to erase the universe of them, Eclipsa had a fascination with them. So when she met globgor, they had to meet in secret because of the monsters and mewmans being aggressively genocidal/homicidal with each other and solaria would’ve sliced him up. And that’s what happened. Solaria hurts globgor making Eclipsa cry which made solaria feel hurt by this for upsetting her daughter so she backs off and spare globgor’s life at least. Despite he was the prince of darkness. There were so many nicknames that suggested globgor being a brute who slaughtered and consumed mewmans in the past, but that could’ve been due to the monster mewman genocide and we know globgor tends to be defensive when it comes to his subjects and his family being threatened. He did change drastically and even became vegetarian possibly even before he and Eclipsa actually started developing feelings for each other. Solaria was somewhat understanding of Eclipsa being in love with globgor but would not accept their relationship. She puts in her will that she should be married to the biggest douchbag himself, king shastican of the spider bite kingdom. And his sole purpose was to marry for status and didn’t care much about anyone or anything else. When solaria was assassinated, Eclipsa abide her mother’s wishes and married king shastican whom she didn’t even like. Her marriage to shastican only made the monster-mewman war much more brutal and the solarian warriors were still active and we all know how brutal and how their powers are basically in god mode. And the septarians weren’t easy to defeat either, they were immortal and couldn’t be killed properly. The solarian warriors do not obey the deceased queen’s daughter since their loyalty is to solaria and solaria alone, while the septarians couldn’t be diplomatically swayed by the prince of darkness, globgor, and they do whatever the hell they please despite the prince of darkness being strongly against toffee’s plan for mass mewman genocide. So globgor and Eclipsa tried their best to establish peace between both of their people and they would meet in secret in order to do so. They were desperately trying their hardest to make peace but that wasn’t possible because of the septarians set in their ways as well as the solarian warriors. Globgor did try to talk Eclipsa into running away with him in which she did turn down his offer at first because she wouldn’t feel right betraying her kingdom. Globgor told Eclipsa, “you already betrayed your kingdom by falling in love with me”. She does have her kingdom and her people’s best interest at heart no matter how hard it is because she so desperately wants to be with globgor. But then king shastican wanted Eclipsa to bare him an heir and understandably she didn’t want that, not with him. She did tell him that it wasn’t too late to have their marriage annulled. King shastican claimed to have possibly fallen in love with Eclipsa (bullshit) in which she replied “I’m in love with the prince of darkness, and I believe my marriage towards him could create everlasting peace between monsters and mewmans”. King shastican laughs in her face like she’s some foolish child. She got the name the queen of darkness when she declared her love to the prince of darkness. Meanwhile, globgor recounted his dealings with the septarians, at least enough to dull down their uprising, but he needed Eclipsa’s word that the solarian warriors wouldn’t act so aggressively towards monsters which would be like asking cows to stop grazing so she couldn’t promise that. So globgor once again asked her to run away with him to save both of their kingdoms in which she hesitated but eventually agrees. But of course the MHC and king shastican had to ruin everything by crystallizing Eclipsa, taking Meteora which enrages globgor. Globgor chose peace but they threatened his family which is a declaration of war which is in his right as the king of monsters. Eclipsa does care for her kingdom, she just didn’t know how to handle the pressure and did try to become a better queen, she just didn’t go about it the right way. You can’t blame her for wanting her family back after being separated from them for over 300 years. Eclipsa can be selfish but she’s not entirely selfish, I mean, she was willing to kill her own daughter to save the kingdom. You said all she cares about is her family and no offense but that makes you kind of sound like the MHC. Well what about the other queens. Queen Moon puts the protection of her daughter above her kingdom. Hypocritically, moon cares more about her family than her kingdom. Eclipsa did put the safety of the kingdom first when she willingly offed her own daughter and always did. And because she tried saving both of their kingdoms only to be imprisoned and separated from her husband and daughter for so long and killed her own daughter to save their kingdom after being separated from them for centuries which could cause severe PTSD for anyone, she has the right to be a bit selfish, but at least she was willing to give up on liberating her husband and put the kingdom first. And at least she confronted globgor before attempting her mother’s crystal breaking spell. Almost as if she wasn’t sure if she should free him and needed his thoughts on the idea. It’s like she tries to be responsible but she can’t help but want her family together again. Star just becomes overly responsible to the point that it gets annoying and other times she is irresponsible like when she left Eclipsa and Rhombulus in a room alone despite them trying to kill each other (well rhombulus was trying to supposedly kill her while Eclipsa was just having her defenses up). Honestly, Star may try to be responsible for her age but she’s no better, not really. She’s just all over the place. She’s all like “I’m a teenager, I don’t have to worry about shit” when she leaves rombulus and Eclipsa alone to kill each other, is childish and mean towards Tom, and is unnecessarily mean towards rasticore with short jokes, she irresponsible in surviving the spider bites at simple noticeable things on tour, a brat in junk in Jenna ( don’t know if I remember that correctly), acts dumb and rude in curse of the blood moon, an asshole in doop doop and cleaved. She may have pushed Eclipsa into being responsible but star is still making problems for everyone around her and not just with her friends and family but for Eclipsa and the MHC as well. Did she even take responsibility for causing problems for Eclipsa towards the spider bite family when she causes a misunderstanding that caused the spider bite family to feel mocked by Eclipsa for her husband eating king shastican (which he deserved)? no she didn’t. She just yelled at Eclipsa. True Eclipsa might share some blame for forgetting the spiderbite family but star was having her take all of the responsibility even for her own mess ups when she didn’t pay attention to specific details and didn’t apologize for any misunderstandings while Eclipsa did all of the apologizing. Eclipsa does try to be a queen, but nobody is willing to compromise because they hate her and are a bunch of racist biased assholes. Eclipsa went through years of conflicts that she tries so hard to resolve with no support from her people and no matter what she does she can’t catch a break and on top of that, she gets separated from her family for 300 years and at least she does get a second chance with her daughter, whom she killed but turns into a baby with no explanation because that’s not what the “black velvet inferno” spell does, so it’s easy for her to be a bit morally conflicted when all she ever does is try her best to do the right thing but constantly gets dumped on and lacks support from everyone except star. Star is the only one to ever try with Eclipsa. And like you said, the mewmans don’t deserve sympathy for the reasons you’ve mentioned but Eclipsa does still try with them. She even faced a solarian warriors head on solo in order to defend the civilians even the ones who hate her. She could’ve died and came pretty close and she knew that. She didn’t use the total annulation spell until star was threatened because it keeps going and destroys everything in its path. She was hesitant with risking the destruction of parts of the kingdom to defend herself but uses it to defend star. She’s actually quite selfless but the majority of the fan base doesn’t own the book of spells because it costs money.

The queens/butterflies are just like regular mewmans, but since they use the wand and wield magic even after they give it to their kid, the cheek Mark's are a sign of that magic descended in them (hence why Star and meteora have it before they ever had the wand.) Eclipsa never cared for being queen though, she never felt or took the responsibility seriously, so Star just flat out giving it to her then expecting her to fulfill the role, was Star’s own fault. She might have been acting queen, but Moon was still default Queen because her fate was unknown. So, Star didn’t have the right to give the throne back to Eclipsa. She could abdicate, but as soon as Moon returned the role should’ve been returned to her.

Star handing the thrown to elipsa made no sense. While yes elipsa Is the rightful heir, her family has been over thrown for centuries. Making star and her family the rightful Queens. Also she made this decision without talking to her mother and father first and sent them into poverty, it wasnt right. I like elipsa but she had no right to the wand. Especially since nobody trusted her, in the end all of this was stars fault. If she didnt give eclipsa the wand then mina wouldnt have started that army nor would have moon make those citizen fight for the kingdom. Star wants to blame the magic when she should have blamed herself. Giving a queen that is seen as evil by everyone wasnt going to make the people, like monsters. It was going to take time.

You know what, I actually think Moon becoming the antagonist because of racism would've been really stupid. You know why? Because people forget that she had friendly relations with Luto's mom! Everyone forgets that!
Apparently even the writers forgot that!
My gosh, I hate this idea of trying to "wing it" when it comes to children cartoons that want to be serious. Look, that kind of idea works well for episodic type shows (which works best for pure comedy shows), but in terms of shows with an ongoing narrative and message, that's a terrible way to run things! It makes it so you forget things about your own story, and can make things feel rushed, clunky, or half baked. And it's especially not a good sytem for shows that want to tell a message because that makes things messy and poorly thought out, and might imply things you didn't mean.
Honestly, I do still like shows like Steven Universe and Star vs., but I just wish they were more thought out before airing.

I always questioned the idea of the Whispering Spell. Assuming a queen made it, which Queen thought of making a spell that not just destroys their royal marker. But is also capable of being utilized to begin a collapse of the entire Multiverse?!
If the theory of Glossaryck being some sort of deranged puppetmaster that lead to this conclusion is correct, then that means he knows that the Whispering Spell already existed and which Queen was going to invent the Spell.
But if Glossaryck knew that if Magic goes, than he goes too. WHY WOULD HE TELL A QUEEN ABOUT THE WHISPERING SPELL IF HE KNOWS THAT IT CAN KILL HIM IF USED CORRECTLY?!
If Glossaryck isn't some evil puppetmaster like the theory states, and he just is able to be like...the Watcher and see everything that goes backwards and forwards. Did Glossaryck just become... apathetic to Magic as a whole? Did he care that the Whispering Spell existed, or did he not know it existed until Star did it at the end of season 1?
And on that, why is the Whispering Spell able to destroy all of Magic as a whole? I was under the assumption that the Whispering Spell was meant to be the wand's self destruct button, not the main binder of the Multiverse itself!
And assuming again that the Whispering Spell is made by a former Queen. Would that not mean that there is no wand anymore? Or did the High Commission make a new wand because some queen blew up their old wand, and didn't bother telling anyone about it?! They're not above changing royal bloodlines, so I'm not surprised if they're quick to change a royal fuck up like "oops I made a spell to blow up my wand!" and even then, THAT SPELL WOULD BE SCRUBBED FROM HISTORY! WHY IS IT A THING?!

I really think the show always suffered from being unfocused. Because that was the style of narrative they are going for, episodic plots. And that ended up hurting the show in the long run, because they set up so many things, and keep going back and forth with plotlines. never commiting to one way or another. Most, or every flaw you pointed out is caused by this. They had countless opportunites to flesh out relationtships, and integrate themes but they rather waste on filler episodes for some reason. Always keeping the status quo to generate a conflict that is not necessary, like "Is Eclipsa evil? Oh.. I dont know". "Is Starco going go be a thing? It can't be now because otherwise there is no "conflict"". Characters keep going back and forth in a endless cycle for no reason. I really don't understand why they decided to take this approach, consdering they walso wanted to tackle more complex situatons. I always loved this show, but this was always holding it back to become something great.
