Vince Gironda devised an exercise along these lines with the advantage that it is performed bilaterally. it's a 90-Degree Cradle Bench tricep extension, he used a custom made bench but you can replicate it if you have a bench with both an adjustable seat and adjustable back. Simply perforn overhead tricep rope extensions kneeling at the side of a bench with one tricep placed across the inclined seat and the other placed across the inclined back rest.
Ben, I noticed that in your example clips that you are not going to lockout. Do you advise not to lockout and to concentrate more on the stretch? What is the downside of going to lockout? Thanks in advance.
been implementing anchors since I started following you. I'm just not clear on the difference between front vs back. which one is better? or you just choose whichever easier to set up?
Support the tricep to isolate it better and give you stability. We commonly do it with other obvious muscles but seem to forget with the triceps. Hope that helps 👍
For completely isolating, maybe. This eliminates strengthening stabilizer muscles- the human body is a system of systems. If you're going for hypertrophy, this is overthinking.

Very interesting. I have so to try it.. thank you for sharing
Will try this out next week
This really works. I tried anchoring myself when doing shoulders with cables. This allowed me to double the weight I use while keeping strict form.
amazing concept!! can you think for some solution for two arms overhead extension?
@assafmatia9823 maybe rest both elbows on the back of a high incline bench for overhead rope extensions.?
appreciate your comment. i can make another video on that!
Sounds good. I'm gonna try it tomorrow 💪🏻🧠
Old skool Arnold arm blaster is great as an "anchor" for pushdowns
Loving this new series
what's the difference between anchoring tricep extensions with something on the underside of your upper arm vs on top??
3:44 That looks like an awesome variation of this exercise! I can’t wait to try it tomorrow for a set or two. Thank you for the idea!
you can also do it standing up with the triceps pressed against the cable machine itself. i love this variation.

that would be a whole other video in and of itself! in short, i lockout if there's significant resistance in the locked position.
@@The_Modern_Meathead Thanks for your explanation of your reasoning! When will you be uploading the whole other explanatory video? Just kidding! ; )
@@The_Modern_Meathead add band, resistance at lockout.

Certainly interesting that’s for sure..
Where would you put the cable in a bayesian curl for the stretch position? Over the thigh and hip?
💪💪💪
Watched this post and have no idea what you are talking about.
