no music in this vid makes Mike's jokes even more hilarious with that slightly whispering voice

Drained my balls on this one tbh cuh
i recalled Ronnie Coleman ASMR video
im feeling mike inside my ear and im all for it
I like how he still says rack for a bodyweight exercise
Same lol
Ye imma start using that
i was confused because he wasn't racking anything
I think he's complimenting Eugene's nice rack
@@MikeAIright he was racking that back
Just leaving my vote that the background silence is *WONDERFUL!* More creators need to do this.
Also, 9:42 was so genuine LOL

"This is called 'working out'" Next level insight, only the best from Dr Mike
Those pullups looked brutal. Also I genuinely enjoyed the lack of music and ADHD inducing cuts and b-roll that so many other videos out there use. Combined with Mike's sultry whispering tone, this made for a very educational and zen watching experience.
lol seek help please
Totally agree 👏
yes agreed
At first I was weirded out but it was actually a really good vibe
Agreed

@@shanecar84 Yeah, he’s zooted’😂
Beautiful lighting in that gym, very warm and nice. Audio is great too with no music. Dr Mike seems stoned for some reason. This might be the first time I've seen a gym ASMR video. 10/10.
He could just be groggy lol, it could be early or late in the day. We've all been there, and Mike may seem confident in himself and his knowledge and not obsessed with seeming switched on.
he probably is
he sounds like that pretty often, he is just very slow paced with his words
Thought I saw a woman rocking a baby on the couch in the background, so assumed they were being quiet to not wake the baby lol
@@GoatOfGandhiyou are right, i didnt even notice till you brought it up
Pull-ups/chins
Lat pulls
Seated cable rows
Couldn’t hear a rep count. Could you?
@@Lmaschingon1till past failure in order to maximize hypertrophy.
@@rz5953But what should the goal be? 12? And if you can do more than 12 then increase the weight?
@@melkerwahlund i mean yeah you can have a goal of 12.. then once u reach 12 and still have a little juice.. Add a little more or less weight (mix it up) and try to crank out as many as you can till failure. This should all be done without taking a break for that set. It should kind of hurt a little, the feeling of failure from these types of exercises. Kind of like the leg extention pain you feel.
@@melkerwahlund for example of your train biceps past failure.. I promise you won't be able to fully extend your arms straight the next day. If you have never felt that.. then you need to train harder.
Also I just want to emphasize how incredible this video is? Some of it to editing and processing, but the decision to go without music made me much more engaged because I’m not distracted by anything else; just glued to the workouts and Mike and Jared’s awesome cues
💯
welcome to eugene teo.
It's like the opposite of tictoc and smoll attentionspan culture, I live for this kind of videos
One thing they're not mentioning is what the benefits of holding at the top of the pull up are. Isometrics (static holds) strengthen the tendons. Stronger tendons will prevent injury (tendinitis, nerve impingements, tendon tears etc) and allow you to gain muscle mass faster.
@@PB22559 RP has emphasized that a LOT. In every video, there’s a clear emphasis on a big stretch on the eccentric.
I love how calm and silent the gym is, only soft talking, the dim lighting no one screaming dropping weights leaving shit all over the place. Zen gym idea noise absorbent walls only soft talks allowed natural organic lighting. We often forget how to connect our mind with our body during exercise and the environment we are in really affects that.
That lat prayer setup explanation was a fucking gem
They were literally explaining how to do a freestyle (front crawl) pull in swimming with the lat prayer. As a competitive swimmer who trains for longer races, I have to do single arm lat prayers since I max out every stack due to how much I swim in that exact position lol.
this video was very helpful. I thought my mowhawk was crooked, but now I know it's perfect by comparison
😂😂😂 I was wondering if it was a mohawk-combover
Yeah that haircut is easily the worst I’ve seen
Dr Mike is high af lol. Love the video style. Very chill

Bro that’s made this video way better
Nice, I never knew he smokes weed. I like him even more now. Such an inspiration!
That last quote from Jared, "they're all trying to row for their lats, but that's not what the row was designed for..." sums up why I had such shitty back width as a newbie. So many videos on rows like 5-10 years ago all talk about rowing "for your lats" when actually focusing on exercises in that overhead stretched position absolutely destroy them for lat hypertrophy. I started doing lat prayers about a year or so ago when I saw the RP guys doing them and my back has gotten so much wider whilst I've maintained the thickness I built early on with heavy deadlifts and rows. This is such a well thought-out back work out and great explanation for the movements involved.
I always had a nightmare when activating lats during barbell row. I dumped them from my training most of last year, did only vertical pulling and lat prayers. But man, I'm starting my workouts with some barbell reverse grip integrated partials, they are Wild for the lats and lower traps!
People don't disengage their traps and rhomboids during rows (setting their shoulders low and back like in a bench press). But also yeah I do pull-down, prayers, and X pulls, the finish off with superset cable Kelso shrugs and standard shrugs
single arm rows are lat biased
@@aprince02 what's the point behind supersetting kelso with normal shrugs? they target the same muscles no? or do you just want the pump as finisher?
@@polypom8453 because a Kelso shrug kinda forgets about the trap fibers connected to the neck; soo a Kelso shrug for a majority of the top and mid trap fibers then standard shrugs to your ear to finish off those fibers attached to the back of the neck.
Edit: look at fiber orientation of traps. Shrugging back and shrugging up emphasize different part of upper traps
Never realized that Dr Mike ASMR is what I needed in my life
Your gym is so sick brother. Always love seeing a feature from Dr. Mike and Jared!
This is the most useful fitness content I’ve seen in a very long time. Mike’s the man
Thank you both!
thank you for clarifying the form on these Lat Prayers! Everyone looks at me weird for doing them this way, but they're effective!
This workout is insane. We need more of these Dr. Mike.
Love the vibe of this video. These videos sound so therapeutic without the music. Also love the lighting and design of that gym.
I really like how calm everyone is while also being excited to provide feedback and guidance.
These sessions are absolute gold, live Training, education and humor!
Two of my favorite content creators. Glad you came together on this. That flight to Australia is brutal so credit to Mike and the whole family for making it.
The chillest, most asmr, informative vid ever
The level of education is humbling. Thank you for this.
Eugene, you're awesome. You're a good role model for the youth here in Canada.
More videos of this format pleaaase! Mike talking ASMR, no background music, and just pure focus on the technique and workout. This is it 👌
Nice colab with MIKE i hope making more vidéos with him ❤❤❤
I fell in love with this kind of no-music workout videos. Especially with someone as informative as Mike.
what a video... genuine information, technique knowledge, and absolute banter. 10/10
I love this no music asmr soft voice format. I was engaged the whole time and these guys are brilliant teachers. Fantastic video!

loved this type of video, chill, no music and Dr.Mike whispering mike-sentences. Brilliant!
Yesss I've been waiting for the RP Australia travel vids to drop
The relative quietness and lack of music really elevate the focus of the session. Two of my favorite fitness channels meeting up, great stuff.
Pure class training with no drama or music 👌
Great team up! Love this video. Eugene as usual your videos are so well done and helpful.

Excellent video as always! Loved the collaboration. 🙌
We need a video for every bodypart with this crew. Great stuff!
I'm doing back tomorrow, going to give this a go
Can we take a moment to appreciate the audio quality! How did you get the acoustics so dry in that cavernous space? There's so little reverb, it makes understanding Dr Mikes whispers so easy to understand.
There are plenty of audio repair plugins. Izotope rx for example. Any de-reverb etc
Most of the lessons taught in this video can be applied to most exercises. Excellent stuff.
This is a great video, definitely stands out.
Did this workout today, felt great

Awesome collab, I hope to see more like this in the future. Rare to see Mike have so little commentary! I can sense that you are lifting from "within" instead of focusing the external weights, the form is demonstrated so well in this video, a great example.
Saving this video for my rest day. So relaxing.
Are these facts? Definitely facts. I love Mike's humor. :)
Is the good doctor baked out of his mind? I mean my man sounds BARBEQUED!

The dynamic we all needed
This session is so Zen.
Top 3 best for back growth.
1. Deadlifts
2. Pullups
3. Lat pulldown variations
Add some rowing variations
Nah bro, dumbell row > deadlift.
@KingOfCha0z not for overall back growth lol.

His voice is so soothing, I couldn't keep energy up working out with him! :)
Hi Eugene! can you put the sets and reps for your pullups? When I do those perfect pullups volume really goes down so I wonder how many sets do you do when performing those?
Sets are personalized depending on your body

Menno says it doesn't matter going so slow on the eccentric in studies, 1 or 3 seconds, its all the same, you just need control and you shouldn't sacrifice reps for eccentric tempo.
Love all the prayers tips one of my favourites excersices
i accidentally ran into Jared’s tip about internal rotation at the 7:44 mark during todays back sesh and it not only gets your lats into a deeper stretch but makes the movement a lot more humbling when doing it for every single rep!!
love all you guys but at 4:30 it kinda looks like his hair is sliding off one side of his head 😄
Eugene you cut your hair. And I know you and Mike are short, 5'6" and lower, not saying bad on that, but it's nice I've been subbed to you for years, to see good collabs. I been doing your single calf raises isolations in my workouts and everyone's been saying I'm getting Mike Matarazzo calves, genetics plays a huge part I know, but I never did isolations til you showed them with he kettlebells/dumbbells. As Frank Zane said, hard work beats genetics every time, well I'm paraphrasing.
This is super informative. Loved all the tips.
I needed this, thank you
“It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

All you need is a vertical pull, a horizontal pull, a hip hinge, and a pullover exercise. You select an exercise for each one of those your back will blow up. Just make sure you start out with only two and work your way up to doing all 4 since it can take a bit for your recovery to get used to that.
I do pullups, chest-supported db rows, single-arm cable rows. All slow, controlled. That is my back workout (i don´t do traps as they cause headaches for me and are big anyways)... i wonder why would i need pullover? I don´t fancy them too much and i feel like 2 lat exercises and a row is enough for the whole back. Hip hinge, well i have romanian deadlifts on leg day if that´s what you mean.
Can't stop smiling. Israetel is gold
Great video, and without the music it is easier to concentrate on the technique. I really need to work on my lat prayer form, thanks guys.
Why is Mike so unnervingly focused and calm, CSI style?
