I have used HD oil exclusively. I put an extra quart in the oil tank of my Sportster. I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine and 37 back tires and 17 front ones and 3 belts in 25 years.
@@-MrRichBiker1967 now that my motorcycle is so old I'm having to do expensive repairs that are exactly related to its age. It's like all of us we are young and healthy and then we get sick when we get old. Right now I'm having to replace the steering head bearings. Another $500 worth of work.
Having worked on my bikes since I was 10yrs old this is the first bike I have left the servicing up to the dealership and yes they have a great coffee machine great insight on the fourth hole always great information in these videos Mango
I was never happy with the gear changes in my M8 Low Rider. Neutral was hard to find, especially when the motor was hot, gear changes were not always smooth, and down shifting during spirited riding was not always that great. All services were done by the dealer during the warranty period and they used Syn3 in all 3 holes. Once the bike was out of warranty I did the 3 hole oil change but decided to use Red Line V-Twin Transmission Oil in the gear box. You can believe it when I say what an improvement to the gear changes, neutral became easy to find and the whole box and dice in the transmission/gear changes became almost buttery smooth - well at least compared to the way it was before.
I made the same switch from using Syn3 for all 3 holes to using HD Heavy Synthetic Gear oil for the primary and transmission….a friend who is also a MC mechanic uses it exclusively, so good enough for me, and so far, happy with it.
Leave the oil cap on. If you open the bottom plug you will see the oil drip slowly. There is a vacuum. If the oil flushes out in a quick way you’re breathers in the airfilter are leaking air. Handy test to see if they are worn.
Pretty handy there mate! Han's grandfather downs a teaspoon of olive oil a day when he gets up and lives on a Mediterranean diet .....He's 81 and still works fulltime as a commercial concreter 😃
Sounds like a bloke I know here in Perth (Western Australia) ... 79 years old, super fit, strong as an ox, tougher than tough and won't quit working doing medium grano jobs. He told me if he quit the hard yakka, he'd lose the momentum of being able to do the work. He does have one or two vices though, so he won't die rich. He'll never be forgotten for what a hard worker he is. Thumbs up to all the hard working mostly European migrants who helped build what we enjoy today. And their mothers & wives who fed them good food!
Agreed about seed oils....I used to use grapeseed oil or avocado oil....but, 2 1/2 months ago I swtiched to a carnivore diet and use beef and prok fat and butter....since then I have lost 60 lbs and feel great.....and I am 72. Oh, and still riding an evo FXDL.
I've used Amsoil since 1980 and in every and in my Harley's from 1994 on. The reason I stick with Amsoil is it holds up much better than other oils I've tested when sending oils in for lab tests. And as with all my vehicles I change the oil every 3000 miles some will disagree with this BUT here's my reason for doing oil changes more frequently... oil is cheap engines are not. I believe this is the reason why my 1994 Road King which I still have went 141,000 miles before I decided to rebuild the engine and take it from an 80 cu in to a 95 cu in motor. Also, just a suggestion, you might find it easier to purchase a lab quality plastic pitcher to measure more accurately the amount of oil you want to put into your bike. I find this is a faster way rather than pour a little and look at the bottle marks, pour a little more look at the marks. I just fill to the level I need into the pitcher and then pour that exact amount into the hole, easy peasy lemon sqeezy. Another great informative video.
Amsoil was the oil that my feeble research found to be the best, unfortunately it's rarer than rocking horse poo here in Tasmania, also strongly agree with more frequent oil changes, I put well over 250k km's on my last bike, and I attribute that, to quality oil, changed more often
Yep its a good one, makes a huge difference. I got the side rails so i could ride on, i was too chicken to try and push the bike up. (Hero hoists in NSW.)
Great videos. Nice to see a Harley channel/Harley rider with a difference, an honest attitude with no massive ego attached.. Like the bikes but put off by the massive egos it seems to produce.. You may also want to include the other 2 "holes" that many riders neglect, the holes for the fork tubes. Every bike l have owned - way too many BMW's and a few Japanese bikes and pretty much always when doing the fork oil, out comes about 50ml of dirty, smelly old fork oil. Again, great videos and yea, oil filters don't need pre filling (l'm no mechanic but the logic is quite obvious), have a look at almost every Mercedes car engine oil filter (filter/housing is screwed down into the motor-impossible to pre-fill) or your average Toyota oil filter on a 1hz diesel, it's screwed on at a horizontal angle.
I just did a fluid change on my 2016 breakout, used redline in the trans and primary, amd amsoil in the crankcase, noticed a huge difference, rides and shifts a lot smoother, definitely recommend!
awesome!!! i wasn't expecting the 4th hole oil... i was thinking you were going to talk about break fluid! this was an awesome unexpected twist!!! i've been avoiding vegetable oils as best i can for a long time now. this was great advice!!! well done sir!!!
Thank you uncle Aymen ! Another informative video and I only use non seed oil in my 4th hole !! My mechanic sorts out the rest !! Thank you for the reminder however 😊
I use Amsoil on all my vehicles. I do however like to remove all the old oil from that sump engine. The SCAVANGER PUCK found online is brilliant. Remove the oil filter, attach the puck. Run a hose to the new oil and one for the old. Start her up let it fill till it runs clear. Fanny your aunt! I enjoy your videos.
You're totally right with what you say regarding a motorcycle being more personal. I've always purged the engine oil by pumping it through to the return tank. I generally get 700mls of the old dirty oil out and pump until the new oil shows. As well as adjusting the clutch when doing the primary oil change. Great content though and love the channel.
Enjoyed the video. You made me laugh with the comment about seed oil and business men. "What are we going to do with our crap? Feed it to people...and make them pay" Funny but so true!
Amsoil or H-D brand oil are the only brands I use. I used to just use Syn3 as you only had to carry 1 extra quart to have extra oil for all three holes. Now the H-D heavy duty gear oil goes in my trans and primary. And YES I definitely notice a difference in the trans with shifting. (2017 Road Glide Special). I have personally found that Amsoil for the regular oil tends to hold up better and last longer than the Syn3. Not near as dark after 3,000 miles. Some people use teflon tape on the threads of the plugs. I find that if you torque it properly you don’t have to worry about it.
I really use whatever 20-50 synthetic motorcycle oil is available, Lucas, Mobil 1, Amsoil…. So far no problems. I use 75-140 synthetic gear oil in the transmission and primary
Great video mate....good explanation! Always good to know a little about one's bike by doing the basics and also a boost to one's confidence, knowing you've done some work on it yourself. 😎
About best oil for HD motorcycles…i agree changing oil & filter at recommended intervals…explain to me why, until recently,Harley recommended Syn 3 for all three holes! I enjoy your videos, keep making new ones!
Great video. My bike actually has a fourth hole in that I recently installed an Oil Bud oil cooler that fits up in between the frame on my softail. It has a drain plug. I highly recommend it for lowering oil temp in hot weather and stop and go traffic. Check them out. I like your take on seed oils. In the States it’s amazing how little food is available that doesn’t contain seed oils or high fructose corn syrup. Being recently diagnosed with type two diabetes I have started to eliminate those things from my diet, I feel better and have lost 40 lbs just by watching those two items.
4th hole was a eye opener for me & much appreciated 👍🌝 Luv servicing my own bikes most of the time , But I must admit im green when it comes to the 4th hole & seed oils that was mentioned, i do use some of them & Olive Oils BUT will now NOT buy seed oils / vegetable oil in the future, You're right about we must look after ourselves first & our bikes a close 2nd , We must stay healthier in order to still ride & live longer 👍🕺 Great eye 👀 opener matey 👏👏 Nice work , Respect from steve in Bundaberg Qld 🍹🇦🇺
Grew up with butter and grilled meat and fresh vegetables, when I met my wife and we started living together we followed the Mediterranean diet, butter, olive oil, heaps of vegetables and lean meat, been living this diet for 40 years now and when I see my doctor for my annual check up she tells me to keep doing what I’m doing, not over weight, blood pressure is good,no diabetes and don’t often get winter ills. If people researched how Canola Oil is made they would be horrified.
ive used amsoil in both my bikes 20/50 in engine primary oil in primary transmission oil in trans.with amsoil ive seen less and less material on magnets every oil change.i also use k&n oil filters
Harley Syn 3 is good oil. I have done alot of research and Amsoil is by far the best choice. It’s funny too seeing the big Amsoil display right in your face at the parts counter at the Harley shop. Great oil!!
Great vid Aymen, I was waiting with anticipation for the 4th hole, lol. Fantastic... top advice as always. Real butter & olive oil for me. Not only what goes in, I like to take care of what comes out 💕
@@clairebelle8389 Hahahah, i am only 10 Mins into Vid, paused to Peruse Comments, have already read Lotsa stuff about ' olive oil' had me ruined and confused = I suspect I know what the '4th hole' on my Bike is Now but.... Agreed ! Cheers and Onya Mate
You got me on this one. I was trying to guess the 4th hole you were talking about. Mouth was not on my list😂. Been using Avocado and EV Olive oil for years at home. That and real butter. There are even brands of off the shelf products at the stores that are using these oils now. More expensive but worth it. Good public service announcement.
Thanks for the video! Your a good man for continuing to work in a little heath advise in on your motorcycle content. As far as motorcycle oil I am sure as long as you buy the major brands it all good I have used Harleys oil and Amsoil. Brake fluid service is a important flush also. As far as that 4 hole like oil changes then need serviced on or at a specific time frame, intermittent fasting to me is key 2 meals a day around a 16 hour fast and the most important thing keeping moving! Ride safe!
Two tips to add to this. 1. For those who may not be aware, the derby cover screws are a T27, not a T25. most torx drive kits dont include the 27, so you will need to invest in a good quality one. The 25 fits, but is sloppy in the fit. It will work, but will eventually flog out those screws. 2. Before removing the filter, put the funnel in place and gently punch a small hole in the lowest point, using a long sharp punch or nail (often supplied with the amazon/ ebay funnel kits. This allows the oil in the filter to drain out and makes much less mess.
The derby cover torx screws are garbage but using a low quality torx bit doesn’t help. A lot of shops put teflon tape on the plugs to insure oil doesn’t leak due to someone wrenching the plug to tight in the past. I’m personally not a Syn-3 fan. Redline is what I’ve been using regularly on my 2 newer Low Riders. I also use Lucas Break-In 20W-50 with Zinc in my 08 Dyna motor.
I always used to service my bikes, and was going to change the oil on my Dyna Fat Bob every 4K km's (half service), but ended up getting it serviced all round with Synth3, and noticed the difference straight away , the bike just seems to run better, and shifts easier. I tried researching which oil was best for my baby, the synth came out okay, there was another brand that seemed to be the best, but I couldn't get it easily here in Tas, and the way it runs now, I won't bother changing it
Had a 2019 streetglide with 79,000 mile on it when traded in on 2024 streetglide i used tech 20x50 full synthetic oil. No issues and ran great used 75x140 gear oil in trans. Doing same with new bike.
on mine i open the drain and let it drip for bout an hour, I use something known as a Scavenger, when you take off the oil filter you put on this puck and disconnect the return line, put on a tube then put in 3 quarts of new oil, run the engine until the return flow is clean, then reinstall the return pipe to the oil tank, add oil to the line, take the puck off, i have a oil filter cooler that has a 5 micron screen, no need for a reg oil filter. just clean it, let it dry put back on and your ready to ride. the Scavenger removes all the dirty left over oil from the engine. and the new oil stays cleaner a lot longer.
I only recently changed the oil in my Ultra and i used Penrite MC-4 V Twin Motorcycle Oil.... 20w 50 full synthetic and the engine is so much quieter than before, grabbed the K&N oil filter as i liked the 17mm nut head that is part of the filter..
Lucas 20w50 full synthetic motorcycle oil in all 3 holes, I use it because of the good reviews from racing teams that say it holds up better than anything else, like you going to try the Lucas transmission oil just to see if its any better but the 20w-50 works fine.
The main thing about engine oil, is. Using the correct weight, the weight that's recommended by the manufacture. The reason why? The weight of the oil is directly correlated to the accuracy of the design and the build quality of the inside of the engine. the weight of the oil directly corresponds to how far apart the internal parts need to be kept away from each other so an engine that uses a lighter weight boil is made to a higher degree of accuracy, both in the polishing and the roundness of the shafts and bearings, etc., and thereby can use a thinner oil, which allows the pieces to be closer together. This is why you don't mess around with the recommended weights of the oil. And on the back end of this other than the weight of the oil use whatever oil you want to use just change it early with the filter.
For the engine Oil I just use 20W/50.. I have Mates that use and recommend 50W straight ? My understanding is its all down to operating and ambient Temperature.. I'm in Perth, it never gets real cold, so I do Not use eg = a 10W/40 ( thinner ) engine oil. It does however get Real hot lots.... A '95 Dyna here, 10W/15 in the Primary, and 85W/90 in the Gearbox, lots and regular oil changes, 20 Years i owned it and 200,000k's, still goes Great no Problemmo !
@@OldNotDead-Clubthe best thing you can do with a HD is let it warm up all the way before riding it. I just watched a video with a group of HD techs who stated there is "lots of forgiveness" built in to the engine, "the parts are not even fitting together, nor are the actually round until it gets to operating temp.". Which is all true about an air cooled engine. And even though it may be oiled or partially water cooled it's still an air cooled engine, and internally it's designed as such.
Great vid, doing anything yourself is always good for a mans soul. Was using Penrite V-twin in my Slim works great, scored Harley Syn 3 & the HD gear oil free to go in next change & shot glass Olive oil in 4th hole every morning for this higher mile unit.. 💪🏼
Just interested where you got the online service manual from really appreciate Ayon if you could as I rang a Harley dealership and they only have the paper one online so I can print off the page I need when I work on my bike thanks mate appreciate it
I actually broke a derby cover bolt the very first time I changed the oil in it. That's a bad feeling! Luckily, the local dealership was open and had one in stock! Just one! Why they don't sell a full set, idk? But they don't.
A company makes the Harley oil for Harley Davidson. It really doesn’t matter what brand oil you use if you changing your oil every 3 thousand miles. I use Amsoil for motor oil, Harley gear oil for trans and primary. Amsoil is the best motor oil if you plan on a longer oil change. It provides superior protection and has a high flash point.
if you have breathers under your rocker covers you should leave your filler cap on then pull drain plug if oil comes out slow you're ok then remove filler cap if it comes out fast then those little breathers need serviced because they're letting air through
I use synthetic v-twin 20w50 in the engine primary gear oil in the primary and 85-120w in the transmission, this can fluctuate. Now I'm switching to lard, thanks 😊
My Road King Special 124" big bore mod package kind of defines it as a thoroughly modified engine which run hotter than stock (perhaps attenuated by the oil cooler fan I installed). Therefore, for the engine I use Liquimoly 10W60 Synthoil Race Tech GT1, for the primary I use Liquimoly HD Synth 20W50 (need the clutch specific additives here), and on the gearbox I use Liquimoly fully synthetic GL5 VS 70W140 oil. I rather use the most suitable oil for each application.
For break in I used a Liquimoly 20W50 Touring Hight Tech Tropical mineral oil, changed on the first 750 kms with the same type, then again at 1,500 kms (both times with K&N oil filters), before pouring the 10W60 Synthoil, then installed a reusable steel mesh FLO filter
Good Day OND , you are still very young, I am a Old Dude Nearly Dead, I in my 70s , been riding bikes since I was 10/11, but please don’t tell my mum and dad, 😂 , pass my test for when I was 17, Obviously, because I was a Brit, I was riding triumph Bonneville Norton commandos of different years, I got into HD around 9495, I’ve had sportster FXR and in 2000 I purchased a brand-new deuce, Sadly in 2019 I had to sell it as I had been scammed by my ex female partner, I did however move to France where I now reside, due to all the stress I had a heart attack about two years ago, And I decided when I got some pennies sorted out from my ex relationship that I will purchase a bike, which I have just recently done, and yes, it is another deuce, 2003?, Sadly this has Not been very well looked after. Definitely wrong oils, more noticeable in the gearbox, I took the cover off to have a look inside and it was like Lard in there, I had to replace the main drive belt, plus gearbox sprocket, There was so much mud grime and stones built between the inner primary and the gearbox you could pick it out with a knife or chisel, there must be at least quarter inch of mud up under the mudguards, and crevices between the ancient and the frame that’s dirt grime mud everything you could possibly think of, I think the person had it used it for dirt track riding, so all oil I’ve now been changed with HD recommended oil, 😂, and because I now live in France, I would say 80% of food over here is more healthy than where is in other countries, as we only cook with olive oil, and probably a little bit of butter, and of course that main ingredient a glass of Red wine 🍷, Great to hear from the other side of the world down under, Ride Safe, Red Free, and dodge those kangaroos, 🦘. 😂,
HD formula + for primary and tranny is the best!!! I’ve used it for so many years and so many bikes. People try to reinvent the wheel better than the one who created it. There might be a better oil but formula + will guarantee your primary and transmission for the life of the bike that’s the most important thing. But hey we all like spending money and getting sucked in to the oil factor. For engine though I’ve always used Spectro Heavy Duty 20w-50 Mineral
I am using Syn 3 for the engine, 80W140 for gearbox and primary. Outside any warranty, I would go for fully synthtic oil for the engine (e.g., Amsoil 20W50), and definitely Castrol GTX 75W140 for the gearbox and in the primary.... nuthen else
As a lady ,I learn something,my partner, old man, uses four different oil on his Harley Davidson, and yet he served me and I only get the same oil on my two holes,😂😂,Well ladies we are being short change, good video, just a dig in ribs, haha😅❤
Hi Aymen, thinking about getting a road king, coming off VStar 1300. What are your thoughts on the differing motors as far as reliabilty/ease of maintenance? IE the old 80, TC 88, 96 or 103 etc. Enjoying your channel, thanks. Cheers Shane
Been using Castrol 20w50 full synthetic V-twin oil in engine and primary, Pennzoil 75-140 synthetic gear lube in trans. I'm open to suggestions on what might be better, not dedicated to this set-up. Watched a lot of vids on oils and opinions are all over the place. Never heard anyone say anything bad about the castrol or Pennzoil so i use them.
Depends on the Year of Bike.. Yep later models ( twin-can or Mill-8 ) may use/need Synthetics, Evo and prior are Happy with old-school Minerol Oils but. I have an Evo, recommended is NOT use synthetics in Primary as can cause clutch-slippage... I use 20W/50 in engine, 85W/90 in gearbox. and 10W/15 in Primary .. Amsoil is the Best, I like pennzoil or penrite myself, but any main-stream ( like Castrol ) is great. Just avoid the cheap-sh!te, change it all regularly and Sooner than book-service recommendations helps for extended engine Life. NB - i pay $50 for 5 litres of 20W/50 Valvoline Oil, Amsoil is $80 for 4 Litres, its Like pouring money down-the-drain for Amsoil.. If oil smells burnt and is black in colour, then best change it Sooner ! Good Luck Mate
Ahh, the PIE HOLE. When you change oil so often on your bike does it really matter guys. I have put near 100K miles on two different Harleys. Always just used good 20-50 weight, brand name synthetic and change it 4500-6000 Miles. 27 Torx, not the 25 on the derby screws! Teflon tape and new oring on the plug.
Before you remove oil filter Punch a 1/8” hole in end of filter at the 12 o’clock position and 2nd. one at 6 o’clock Let’s oil drain out in more controlled manner Do this while draining engine oil and other 2 holes Put oil in filter about 1/2 way Filter media will absorb it install oil pressure quick oil pressure to engine
My 02 Deuce requires a full purge engine oil change. Dump the tank oil. Remove the return tube. Dump 2 new quarts into the tank. Dead roll the engine 12 turns of the crank and capture the oil from the return tube until the oil is clear. Change the filter. Add .8 quart reconnect the return tube. I use 75W syn transmission oil and I will be using Harley 20-50w primary oil. My diet is tailored to my disabilities. Eat natural foods. I juice spinach, apple, carrot, and pineapple to supercharge my stamina. I'm 11yrs past my expiration date 😂 that the doctors insisted I that would never live to see.😂 Living raw fruits and veggies repairs living cells. If I listened to my doctors and took all pills I refuse to take, I might've been dead already.
putting gear oil in the primary is definantly a no-no. and a engine oil in the tranny is not recommended. Just use the correct Amsoil in all three holes.
Hi great vid oils the blood of the engine I use castrol 20 50 synthetic in the engine and primary and same as you in the gearbox. As for the 4th niver use seed oils that's another thing government's told us was good for us and definitely isn't you ride safe stay free
Engine Oil change - great Funnel Mate , never Seen before - I have a piece of plastic cut out of the side of an oil bottle works.. Here is a Simple Tip but = Drop sump Oil, thread-tape plug and re-fit, then REFILL tank w/oil..... remove oil-filter, using that funnel run/start engine ( no oil-Filter but with funnel ) until oil pumping out runs clear ! Do NOT rev engine, o'wise it shoots out fer metres away, just idle is Good... I do this every time and it has Never run 'clear' but....... so just run engine for approx 1 minute or until approx 1 litre has passed thru engine. Shut-it-down, smear new filter gasket with oil, there is No point attempting to fill filter with New Oil, its mounted sideways so will just fall-out anyways....... Put some oil back in tank, start and run whilst inspecting for Leaks, check dip-stick and add more as required.. Now go for a quick ride ( like 5-10k's ). Allow bike to cool-off ( like overnight ) and re-check dip-stick and add more oil as required. Intent here is to Remove ' old-oil' from engine, that can and will contaminate New Oil just added...... Onya Aussie !
Yes literally we can use any v-twin oils I pretty much guess so !,I got the hd brand right now : & the v-rod is obvious out of discuss just poor syn3 &= fine !, with my ‘86 evolution I’m gonna take syn3 as the motor oil & today I still had hd semi transmission & formula+ (=transmission + primary) , so I used up first my rest of the semi-trans fluid for trans + prime !, from next time on I use formula+ because the semi-trans-oil is not available any more (it is the old version of formula+) … have fun god bless England ❤️

Thank you for the reminder however 😊
Lol thanks for watching Karyn
I use Amsoil on all my vehicles. I do however like to remove all the old oil from that sump engine. The SCAVANGER PUCK found online is brilliant. Remove the oil filter, attach the puck. Run a hose to the new oil and one for the old. Start her up let it fill till it runs clear. Fanny your aunt!
I enjoy your videos.
I use Amsoil on my bike and it’s the best oil out there,IMO,I’ve heard HD oil is great too but I’m gonna stay with Amsoil,Thanks for the video
Love your balanced approach to riding and overall health! Ride on!
Thank you
Enjoyed the video. You made me laugh with the comment about seed oil and business men. "What are we going to do with our crap? Feed it to people...and make them pay" Funny but so true!
lol
Amsoil or H-D brand oil are the only brands I use. I used to just use Syn3 as you only had to carry 1 extra quart to have extra oil for all three holes. Now the H-D heavy duty gear oil goes in my trans and primary. And YES I definitely notice a difference in the trans with shifting. (2017 Road Glide Special). I have personally found that Amsoil for the regular oil tends to hold up better and last longer than the Syn3. Not near as dark after 3,000 miles.
Some people use teflon tape on the threads of the plugs. I find that if you torque it properly you don’t have to worry about it.
you can use Amsoil motor oil in all 3 holes.
I use Lucas 20-50 Dinosaur oil in my Evo, and Royal Purple in the tranny...and Lucas primary oil.
I really use whatever 20-50 synthetic motorcycle oil is available, Lucas, Mobil 1, Amsoil…. So far no problems. I use 75-140 synthetic gear oil in the transmission and primary
Great video as usual - and a most excellent PSA!
Thank you
Great work mate. Loving the advice in keeping your bike & yourself healthy.
thanks again Aaron
Nice lead-in had me wondering about that fourth hole, great advive
Thanks 👍
Great video mate....good explanation! Always good to know a little about one's bike by doing the basics and also a boost to one's confidence, knowing you've done some work on it yourself. 😎
Thanks again
Yep it really does make an amazing difference, well done
I have used Penrite for 35 years on all my cars bikes and have absolutely no complaints, with engines doing over 300 thousand ks
Many will agree with you, top brand
I just discovered that seed/veg oil also contributes to fatty liver and margarine is linked to dementia. Nice vid Aymen 👌🏻
Thanks mate
Grew up with butter and grilled meat and fresh vegetables, when I met my wife and we started living together we followed the Mediterranean diet, butter, olive oil, heaps of vegetables and lean meat, been living this diet for 40 years now and when I see my doctor for my annual check up she tells me to keep doing what I’m doing, not over weight, blood pressure is good,no diabetes and don’t often get winter ills. If people researched how Canola Oil is made they would be horrified.
Thanks you are spot on
ive used amsoil in both my bikes 20/50 in engine primary oil in primary transmission oil in trans.with amsoil ive seen less and less material on magnets every oil change.i also use k&n oil filters
Harley Syn 3 is good oil. I have done alot of research and Amsoil is by far the best choice. It’s funny too seeing the big Amsoil display right in your face at the parts counter at the Harley shop. Great oil!!
Check out Kevin Baxter from Baxters garage, “all about oils” episode
Great vid Aymen, I was waiting with anticipation for the 4th hole, lol.
Fantastic... top advice as always.
Real butter & olive oil for me.
Not only what goes in, I like to take care of what comes out 💕
Lol way to go, thanks for watching

Hahahah,
i am only 10 Mins into Vid, paused to Peruse Comments, have already read Lotsa stuff about ' olive oil' had me ruined and confused =
I suspect I know what the '4th hole' on my Bike is Now but....
Agreed !
Cheers and Onya Mate
Good analogy re oil in you and your bike . Great video thanks
Thanks for watching
I have good service with Lucas full synthetic and K&N filters with a half quart of Lucas additive in the engine. It tastes great, too!
Lol thanks for watching
Spot on about the seed oils. Avoid them and all factory processed foods.
Thanks
In regard to the seed oil industry, you may want to check out the history of Margarine. I was shocked by what I found.
lol yes i know!!
Thanks great tip re punching the hole. re the torx bit - i was using a T27 and this is mention twice in the video.
@@OldNotDead-Club Bugger, I missed that....twice!
@@taff782ify lol
I have used Amsoil for engine and redline for transmission oil and Primary oil.
Thanks, its hard to get here
The derby cover torx screws are garbage but using a low quality torx bit doesn’t help.
I tried researching which oil was best for my baby, the synth came out okay, there was another brand that seemed to be the best, but I couldn't get it easily here in Tas, and the way it runs now, I won't bother changing it
Made it all the way to #4 expecting it to be the gas tank or something but that was a great switch 😂
lol thanks
Had a 2019 streetglide with 79,000 mile on it when traded in on 2024 streetglide i used tech 20x50 full synthetic oil. No issues and ran great used 75x140 gear oil in trans. Doing same with new bike.
I use aimoil used it for years inshore t they use it in air planes how safe is that
Thanks Aymen! Love the Video’s keep’m coming
Thanks for watching
on mine i open the drain and let it drip for bout an hour, I use something known as a Scavenger, when you take off the oil filter you put on this puck and disconnect the return line, put on a tube then put in 3 quarts of new oil, run the engine until the return flow is clean, then reinstall the return pipe to the oil tank, add oil to the line, take the puck off, i have a oil filter cooler that has a 5 micron screen, no need for a reg oil filter. just clean it, let it dry put back on and your ready to ride. the Scavenger removes all the dirty left over oil from the engine. and the new oil stays cleaner a lot longer.
Nice video bro!! Keep'em comin'!! 😀
The sealant is called plumber’s tape or pipe seal or thread seal
Yeah I couldn't think of it at the time
I only recently changed the oil in my Ultra and i used Penrite MC-4 V Twin Motorcycle Oil.... 20w 50 full synthetic and the engine is so much quieter than before, grabbed the K&N oil filter as i liked the 17mm nut head that is part of the filter..
Thanks I have heard good things about both
Lucas 20w50 full synthetic motorcycle oil in all 3 holes, I use it because of the good reviews from racing teams that say it holds up better than anything else, like you going to try the Lucas transmission oil just to see if its any better but the 20w-50 works fine.
So what do you cook chips in then?
if i was going to cook chips it would be in saturated fat - that's a whole other subject because fat and carbs like chips don't mix
Thanks thats pretty much what I do
For the engine Oil I just use 20W/50..

Just interested where you got the online service manual from really appreciate Ayon if you could as I rang a Harley dealership and they only have the paper one online so I can print off the page I need when I work on my bike thanks mate appreciate it
No idea, I just searched on online there seem to be plenty at around the $20 or $30 mark
The 4th hole got me, that is why I watched the video. Yes to the fourth hole I am carnivore beef, bacon, butter, eggs.
Awesome way to eat
I actually broke a derby cover bolt the very first time I changed the oil in it. That's a bad feeling! Luckily, the local dealership was open and had one in stock! Just one! Why they don't sell a full set, idk? But they don't.
I either use spectro or belray oil and the specific ones made for the 3 holes
I've heard great things about both oils
Now I'm switching to lard, thanks 😊
lol thanks for watching
What cam you got in your ride? Sounds pretty radical.
s and s 475 great sounding lumpy cam, lol for an M8
Enjoying the health info for ourselves as well. Loving the content & vids!
Thanks, loving the gear from your company!
Virgin olive oil, lard, butter and Avocado oil for the 4th hole. Amsoil for the Harley.
Thanks

Definitely wrong oils, more noticeable in the gearbox, I took the cover off to have a look inside and it was like Lard in there, I had to replace the main drive belt, plus gearbox sprocket, There was so much mud grime and stones built between the inner primary and the gearbox you could pick it out with a knife or chisel, there must be at least quarter inch of mud up under the mudguards, and crevices between the ancient and the frame that’s dirt grime mud everything you could possibly think of, I think the person had it used it for dirt track riding, so all oil I’ve now been changed with HD recommended oil, 😂, and because I now live in France, I would say 80% of food over here is more healthy than where is in other countries, as we only cook with olive oil, and probably a little bit of butter, and of course that main ingredient a glass of Red wine 🍷,
Great to hear from the other side of the world down under, Ride Safe, Red Free, and dodge those kangaroos, 🦘. 😂,
I can't believe I didn't see this coming for the fourth hole.
Lol
You pour oil into the new filter before you start, it will soak into the media and not make a mess when time to install.
I use mobil1 oil in all three holes no troubles if I go over a little on miles
After many years of researching I find Spectro Platinum is the best oil to use on a Harley...
Mobile 1 is in the engine, Valvoline 70/140 synthetic in the gear box, Harley syn 3 in the primary.
Totally agree 👍🏻 100% carnivore. If it never had a pulse don't eat it ,great video mate
Thanks 👍
I've always used the HD gear and Primary oil,and Syn 20/50..in engine ✌️,,Better shifts better protection..just piece of mind ,no arguments..💯
Thanks
HD formula + for primary and tranny is the best!!! I’ve used it for so many years and so many bikes. People try to reinvent the wheel better than the one who created it. There might be a better oil but formula + will guarantee your primary and transmission for the life of the bike that’s the most important thing. But hey we all like spending money and getting sucked in to the oil factor. For engine though I’ve always used Spectro Heavy Duty 20w-50 Mineral
I use AMSOIL, great oil!
Thanks I've been meaning to try it, difficult to get here
I am using Syn 3 for the engine, 80W140 for gearbox and primary. Outside any warranty, I would go for fully synthtic oil for the engine (e.g., Amsoil 20W50), and definitely Castrol GTX 75W140 for the gearbox and in the primary.... nuthen else
Good video thanks.
Thanks for watching
As a lady ,I learn something,my partner, old man, uses four different oil on his Harley Davidson, and yet he served me and I only get the same oil on my two holes,😂😂,Well ladies we are being short change, good video, just a dig in ribs, haha😅❤

Hi Aymen, thinking about getting a road king, coming off VStar 1300. What are your thoughts on the differing motors as far as reliabilty/ease of maintenance? IE the old 80, TC 88, 96 or 103 etc.
Enjoying your channel, thanks.
Cheers
Shane
Been putting 20 50 mineral oil on both my Harleys, never have had any issues, 85 Electra Glide, 04 Dyna Wide Glide.
@@bluddyrowdy8757 Thanks very much for the informative reply!
Cracking Video uncle Aymen 😜👍😊
Lol
Oil brand doesn't matter 1/10th as much as how often you change it. Any decent oil that meets Harley standards changed often enough is good oil.
You are probably right
Ahh, the PIE HOLE.
I was using a 27torx, you are probably right re the oil
Before you remove oil filter
Punch a 1/8” hole in end of filter at the 12 o’clock position and 2nd. one at 6 o’clock
Let’s oil drain out in more controlled manner
Do this while draining engine oil and other 2 holes
Put oil in filter about 1/2 way
Filter media will absorb it install oil pressure quick oil pressure to engine
Thanks. it's specifically made for it. It's very difficult to get Amsoil here.
😎👍
Big thumbs up for the channel...
Big thanks
Hi great vid oils the blood of the engine
I use castrol 20 50 synthetic in the engine and primary and same as you in the gearbox.
Avocado, olive and coconut oils in our home for about 10 years now!!!
Amsoil engine, redline heavy shockproof in transmission, redline or Lucas primary oil.
