I do understand trying to incorporate some healthy/nutritious items into inherently innutritious dishes. However, it kind of reminds me of those sarcastic videos people make making fun of that. “oh I’m eating my lettuce wrapped fries! Lettuce wrapped burger! Lettuce wrapped brownie!”, where it’s the normal item with just a giant piece of lettuce wrapped around it 😂. Like yeah…you ate the lettuce (or apple slices, or avocado, or banana, or whatever other healthy stuff people throw into desserts), but you still had the sugar, carbs, etc….the healthy item is not negating the unhealthy one. You’re just eating more food?
I guess what I’m saying is, it seems like trying to throw a small healthy item into something unhealthy is more so just to trick our mind and make us feel less guilty rather than actually being useful.

Hmm that's an interesting take. I'm a really big fan of showing my own children how we can incorporate more fiber into our diet in ways we really enjoy like a brownie or cupcake. Ideally we don't have guilt for eating anything, also if we can make foods more nutritious without it being obsessive based on fear, why shouldn't we?
