Just came here after seeing her perform this at the Eras Tour (piano surprise song, Tokyo N1). She sounded INCREDIBLE, I was absolutely blown away and immediately needed to find more acoustic versions of holy ground. I am begging/crying/praying that she will eventually bless us with some high quality recordings of more live Eras performances. Especially some of her acoustic/surprise song sets - those have had some of her best vocal performances to-date!!!

I’m about to finish my second year of med school and I still to this day play this almost daily. Can’t wait for speak now (Taylor’s Version) out July 7th.
One of my top songs from Red Album, it deserves more recognition. Thanks Taylor for sharing this song even back in pre-reputation era, you’ve been playing this live ☺️😊
First of all those back up singers deserve some credit; they sound great, their intonation and harmonies without dominating is legit so hard to do. Taylor sounds great too and this arrangement omg 😍
She’s not gonna make them sound that different unless it’s another version of the song cause then people would keep listening to the originals, which ruins the whole point
The original was perfect. Looking back fondly at a young love that came and went quickly but was amazing while it lasted. This is even more perfect. Like she’s longing to find that passion again with someone she’s been with for a really long time. So calm and tender. Her voice is stunning.
This reply is literally 9 months later, but Red is the first album that truly got be hooked as well! Speak Now was the first album I bought of hers and I liked songs from her first two, but it wasn’t until Red that I really realized how amazingly talented she is. I think State of Grace in particular did me in, that’s been one of my top favorite songs ever since I heard it
THE CHILLS WHEN SHE SANG : "Tonight I'm gonna dance for all that we've been through But I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you Tonight I'm gonna dance like you were in this room But I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you…"
She’s a goddess! I mean, this performance doesn’t have multiple dancers, lights, or pizzazz, it’s just her playing the piano and singing beautifully. Even the backing vocals went perfectly, and when she started singing with them, I got goosebumps. Ladies and Gentlemen, here’s the music industry.
[Verse 1] I was reminiscing just the other day While having coffee all alone, and Lord, it took me away Back to a first-glance feeling on New York time Back when you fit my poems like a perfect rhyme Took off faster than a green light, go Hey, you skip the conversation when you already know I left a note on the door with a joke we'd made And that was the first day [Chorus] And darling, it was good Never looking down And right there where we stood Was holy ground [Verse 2] Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress We had this big wide city all to ourselves We blocked the noise with the sound of, "I need you" And for the first time, I had something to lose And I guess we fell apart in the usual way And the story's got dust on every page But sometimes, I wonder how you think about it now And I see your face in every crowd [Chorus] 'Cause darling, it was good Never looking down And right there where we stood Was holy ground [Hook] Tonight, I'm gonna dance For all that we've been through But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you Tonight, I'm gonna dance Like you were in this room But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you [Chorus] It was good Never looking down And right there where we stood Was holy ground [Outro] Tonight, I'm gonna dance For all that we've been through But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you Tonight, I'm gonna dance Like you were in this room But I don't wanna dance If I'm not dancing with you
1989 era "Holy Ground" was fast and she sounded like a rockstar! Lover era "Holy Ground" soft and she sounds like an angel! Edit: I know Holy Ground was from Red era...I meant 1989 Tour!
The maturity of her voice made the song even more beautiful. Wait for her re-recording album next year. To those doubting her success, just wait for that day.
@@maxjones9201 this album is amazing it beats red at least in production but not lyrically and lover is essentially the opposite of red in theme and feelings
How is it 2012 Taylor she's just performing a song from that time doesn't mean she's back she's stronger and different then how she was in 2012 just look at the way she stands up for herself now
This song and Red itself were recorded in 2011. Around the time Red was released she was moving towards 1989 because that's when she wrote 'This Love'.
I think that part of what makes her so successful is how long her band has been with her…Mike Meadows and Max Bernstein have been with her for 15 years, Paul Sidoti and Amos Heller have been with her since 2007, and her background singers have been with her since The Red Tour in 2013. Especially with Paul she must take very good care of them! What a fortunate life they all have!
The fact that every song of hers is delicate to be played like this, in another style, in another version, especially if it’s only with piano, shows how genius she is.
Taylor's vocals dramatically evolved in a very gorgeous manner. I can't wait for November 2020 when she can start re-recording all her songs from TS1 to TS6! Can you imagine??? ❤❤❤
Armando The Third only albums 1-5 cause reputation hasn't reached 5 years yet. Her contract states that she can only rerecord albums that spent 5 years
Taylor may not be the best vocalist in terms of range and technique. But her ability to emote and articulate the lyrics, is unparalleled. I’ll listen to he r over any other vocal powerhouses.
Yes!!!! And I realized, since she does not have that very high range of voice, her songs are easy for people to sing even those with not-so-good voice, and we can focus more on the lyrics than the technicalities of vocal power blah blah
Instead of a dark room like they usually do for the BBC live lounge sessions, Taylor's set with that beautiful panoramic window is so light & bright filled with DAYLIGHT~ and the AFTERGLOW from the setting sun that shines on Taylor's face makes her look so radiant~
Best performance of Holy Ground in my opinion. I love it so much. Her voice , the backup singers, the piano, Taylor looking at us, how this is a slower pace than the studio version, and obviously the rest of her crew are amazing.

i forgot the original isnt this after hearing this. fearless rerecording was a more mature voice- but songs werent changed like original vs this version of holy ground.
Her band, her background singers always seem proud of her.
Excuse me? I did not sign up to cry but I just love crying so thank you for reviving my Red feelings.
Where my RED Stans at?
I felt the same, I'm crying hard
My fav era so far❤️...but the Lover Era is proving to be serious competition😂
I've never appreciated Holy Ground this much until now.

THIS NEEDS TO BE ON THE ALBUM PLEASE DO IT FOR ALL SONGS THEY SOUND SO GOOD I GOT CHILLS
This is from her red album wym?
Dayum Wayne she’s re-recording her old albums so that she can own them
@Angela Silva ooh make sense, fcj scooter anyways

Taylor is singing Holy ground. She's wearing shorts and red lipstick. The year is 2012. This is the red era. 😭❤ #nostalgia
Now she just needs to straighten her hair or put it in a ponytail. lol
Ever since I started med school, everytime I study, on my 5 minutes breaks I always play this version of holy ground. It just makes me reset mentally and just chill. I’m about to finish my second year of med school and I still to this day play this almost daily. Can’t wait for speak now (Taylor’s Version) out July 7th.
Relatable. I'm currently on break studying for my law subject
I can't believe i got this song as a surprise song in tokyo n1... im just so happy.
The way she looks into the camera is amazing. It’s mesmerizing like she’s sitting right in front of you, and signing right to you

I love the part in the end when she turns her head to the camera while singing "like you were in this room"

One of my top songs from Red Album, it deserves more recognition.
Thanks Taylor for sharing this song even back in pre-reputation era, you’ve been playing this live ☺️😊
PREACH
I AGREE. I LOVE THIS SONG
It's always been one of my favourites.
First of all those back up singers deserve some credit; they sound great, their intonation and harmonies without dominating is legit so hard to do. Taylor sounds great too and this arrangement omg 😍
I hope Taylor re-records holy ground in this style. It’s incredible
Yes me too
I hope she keeps both! It's a nice shift in angle of reminiscing
Good news I'm from the future. Red Taylor's version will be on November 19
She won't . Because the re recordings are supposed to be sound as similar as possible to the originals
She’s not gonna make them sound that different unless it’s another version of the song cause then people would keep listening to the originals, which ruins the whole point
If Taylor did nothing OTHER than acoustic songs -- I would be HERE for ittttttt!
Yes yes yes!!!!
Yessssss
How about an entire album of just acoustic songs even if there new ones?
@@thehufflepuffhermione yesssss , i would really love that.
ID DIE IF ALL THE RERECORDED SONGS ARE ACOUSTIC IM SO HERE FOR IT
The original was perfect. Looking back fondly at a young love that came and went quickly but was amazing while it lasted. This is even more perfect. Like she’s longing to find that passion again with someone she’s been with for a really long time. So calm and tender. Her voice is stunning.
Such an overwhelming performance. She never disappoints.
Red is the album that got me hooked on to TS. The songs still linger. Deserved a Grammy for sure. This version is testament to that.
This reply is literally 9 months later, but Red is the first album that truly got be hooked as well! Speak Now was the first album I bought of hers and I liked songs from her first two, but it wasn’t until Red that I really realized how amazingly talented she is. I think State of Grace in particular did me in, that’s been one of my top favorite songs ever since I heard it
Me too, red is her first album that I listen to
Same
I have never cried listening to Holy Ground. Holy hell this was amazing! If this is a trailer to all the album re-recordings, TAKE MY MONEY!!
THE CHILLS WHEN SHE SANG :
"Tonight I'm gonna dance for all that we've been through
But I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you
Tonight I'm gonna dance like you were in this room
But I don't wanna dance if I'm not dancing with you…"
She’s a goddess! I mean, this performance doesn’t have multiple dancers, lights, or pizzazz, it’s just her playing the piano and singing beautifully. Even the backing vocals went perfectly, and when she started singing with them, I got goosebumps. Ladies and Gentlemen, here’s the music industry.
[Verse 1]
I was reminiscing just the other day
While having coffee all alone, and Lord, it took me away
Back to a first-glance feeling on New York time
Back when you fit my poems like a perfect rhyme
Took off faster than a green light, go
Hey, you skip the conversation when you already know
I left a note on the door with a joke we'd made
And that was the first day
[Chorus]
And darling, it was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
[Verse 2]
Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress
We had this big wide city all to ourselves
We blocked the noise with the sound of, "I need you"
And for the first time, I had something to lose
And I guess we fell apart in the usual way
And the story's got dust on every page
But sometimes, I wonder how you think about it now
And I see your face in every crowd
[Chorus]
'Cause darling, it was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
[Hook]
Tonight, I'm gonna dance
For all that we've been through
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
Tonight, I'm gonna dance
Like you were in this room
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
[Chorus]
It was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
[Outro]
Tonight, I'm gonna dance
For all that we've been through
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
Tonight, I'm gonna dance
Like you were in this room
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you

WAIT, WHAT?! A LIVELY, UPBEAT SONG PERFORMED USING A PIANO?! THIS IS ONE OF HER BEST ACOUSTICS, EVER!
Those backup singers are not only absolute heaven, but look so so so proud to be up there. Kudo's to them. (And Taylor, Always)
Taylor NEEDS to do an all-acoustic of all of her previous songs!
Holy Ground finally gets the attention it deserves!
Its my favorite in Red!!! 😭
1989 era "Holy Ground" was fast and she sounded like a rockstar!
Lover era "Holy Ground" soft and she sounds like an angel!

The maturity of her voice made the song even more beautiful. Wait for her re-recording album next year. To those doubting her success, just wait for that day.
Holy Ground stan here and this is one of the best songs in Red even in the studio album. This performance just made it to the top of my faves in Red
Holy ground studio version is my favorite Taylor swift song this is 10x better than the studio version this can’t even be topped
Wow I'm in love with the backup singers! They're so beautiful! And their voices combined provided such an angelic tone!
Who Whaat they are called the “The Starlights”
2012 Taylor is back and I don't think any of us are ready
Ivana Biki I really don’t that 2012 Taylor is back, she’s showed glimpses of it but this album is not even close to being as good as Red
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love this version of Holy Ground sooooo much. I genuinely hope she chooses to record Holy Ground like this when she re-records her masters.
That’s when you know someone is genuinely a good boss

Quốc Anh all of her era is best dude
@@AliAzimiofficial you just spilled the truth tho
That and Speak Now are the best!!!! Lover is getting up there too!!!
Quốc Anh yaas! My favorite Era 🥰
She literally nailed all of her eras

I’ll listen to he r over any other vocal powerhouses.
couldn't have said it better myself
Yes!!!! And I realized, since she does not have that very high range of voice, her songs are easy for people to sing even those with not-so-good voice, and we can focus more on the lyrics than the technicalities of vocal power blah blah
She sings with so much feeling.
This is so true
Yes and being able to convey the feeling and story of a song is what makes great singers, great. Isn’t that what music is all about after all?
How does this breaks my heart like All Too Well did 😭 Can't wait for Taylor to rerecord her past albums 😭💚💖
It breaks my heart too. 😭
Taylor’s beautiful voice, the piano, her amazing 4 backup singers all of this together is so incredible 😩
This is the Reason why i Love being a Swiftie over any other Fanbase.
Why do you hate James Charles?
Instead of a dark room like they usually do for the BBC live lounge sessions, Taylor's set with that beautiful panoramic window is so light & bright filled with DAYLIGHT~ and the AFTERGLOW from the setting sun that shines on Taylor's face makes her look so radiant~
This is yet to be the best version of Holy Ground that I’ve heard. ♥️
the way she says ‘for the first time i had something to lose’ oh my god
Best performance of Holy Ground in my opinion. I love it so much. Her voice , the backup singers, the piano, Taylor looking at us, how this is a slower pace than the studio version, and obviously the rest of her crew are amazing.
