Taylor went from being "the girl with the breakup songs" to having one of the most beautiful voices out there and amazing lyrics ...aka from artist of the year to artist of the decade :P

Then she could try other songs by Leo Sayer, the original singer of this song. In case you don't know, Phil Collins's version is a cover of the original by Leo Sayer in 1978. She could try : - "When I Need You" which was previously covered by Julio Iglesias. This is the most famous song by Leo Sayer that became hit in mid 1970s. That song may fit to current situation when we are all supposed to stay home.

I just discovered this and It makes me wanna cry. This used to be 'our song' when my bf and I were in a long-distance relationshipt and travelled by train every weekend. Now we live together. I've been a TS fan since '09 so it is amazing to have Taylor sing this song that means so much to me.
Taylor proves that she not only knows how to sing catchy songs to blast the charts around the world with her astonishing vocal power, but she also knows how to nuance a slow song with little musical accompaniment. The most important thing for a great singer-songwriter will always be the words that he transmits to us, but not with words but with the nuances of his voice and this time with a different and personal interpretation of a song by the great Phil Collins. Marvelous. 🌹💎🖤⚜
I grew up listening to Phil Collins and Genesis because Phil was my moms favorite singer. And now my favorite singer is singing one of his songs. I loved this cover it fit her voice perfectly and she did amazing.
She could be an adult contemporary master. She did a whole show with Def Leppard when she was a teenager. Her mom influenced her a lot and she has a lot of fans that age.

Everything about this song is heavenly. A magic woman. Background singers touched to the tears. The message of "I never said Goodbye. So you're leaving in the morning on the early train I could say everything's alright And I could pretend and say goodbye Got your ticket Got your suitcase Got your leaving smile I could say that's the way it goes And I could pretend and you won't know That I was lying Cause I can't stop loving you No I can't stop loving you No I won't stop loving you Why should I? We took a taxi to the station, not a word was said And I saw you walk across the road For maybe the last time, I don't know Feeling humble I heard a rumble On the railway track And when I hear that whistle blow I'll walk away and you won't know That I'll be crying Cause I can't stop loving you No I can't stop loving you No I won't stop loving you Why should I? Even try, I'll always be here by your side Why, why, why, I never wanted to say goodbye Why even try, I'll always be here if you Change, change your mind So you're leaving in the morning on the early train I could say everything's alright And I could pretend and say goodbye But that would be lying Cause I can't stop loving you No I can't stop loving you No I won't stop loving you Why should I even try?

Salvatore Tota Well it’s not magic but she is a wonderful human being
I ❤ her
@Andy Webster You obviously don't know anything about her.
Andy Webster she is a writer and producer on her album, other artist also have producers, what have u been smoking ?
@Andy Webster "People love to explain away a woman's success in the music industry" - TS. That contends the first part of your comment pretty well.
As for her musical abilities, she's a fantastic songwriter who has written all of her own music since the age of 12. She wrote an entire album by herself at the age of 18. One of her songs is considered one of the greatest songs of the 21st Century. She plays 4 different instruments.
The fact that you think she's an "average" musician goes to show that you know nothing about her. She's a goddamn musical prodigy.
Her voice is majestic at the end of the song. Her ability to speak the lyrics instead of just sing them really hits deep. Special voice.
I just closed my eyes listening to this stunning cover and I felt like I am in another world where everything is perfect, where is no pain, but only pure love. I wish I could live there.. ❤️ Please be kind to each other and have an amazing day ☀️
same 😍
What a beautiful comment! Have an amazing day as well
I did it too!

Ece B ..brought tears to my eyes..so beautiful💯❤️❤️
She’s so good at evocating emotion, and her voice always me feel like I’m inside a dream... so smooth
She makes this sound like HER song, I'm speechless.
Don’t like Taylor’s song really but this song and how she sing it..mind blowing and what a professional.
so true. i seriously thought this was from lover album.
Because her own song writing is so spectacular and her sound is so much her sound at this point, I had never considered how she would sound doing a cover. This is beautiful.
There are so many covers she’s done that are so beautiful!
She has one of the most beautiful voices out there, and the way she uses it she touches your heart like no one can.
The fact that lately she kind of has this 80s vibe to her production put together with the era of this song is everything!
Annamarie Sieberns I agree! I cant stop listening to Lover song because it seems like an OST of an old movie.
Taylor went from being "the girl with the breakup songs" to having one of the most beautiful voices out there and amazing lyrics ...aka from artist of the year to artist of the decade :P
Although this is technically a breakup song.
thaler67 yeah but it’s not her song so the haters have no problem with that
Her breakthrough singles were not even breakup songs. They are teenage crush songs. "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me."
She sings it as if's her own story and as if she wrote it!!! Really beautiful and a big compliment to Taylor.
I've become a happily participating member of, The 'I'm Not Really A Taylor Swift Fan, But Dang!...She's Absolutely Killing It!' Club.
she really can sing EVERYTHING.
It's all in her self belief.
Nah. I'm a Swiftie but I'm no delusional like this. She slay acoustic performances if a song is fitted inside her vocal range.
No not everything this sounds like a lot of what she does and it's good but not everything come on
@@LawrenceVengeance Yeah I swear this kind of songs fits her vocals, how I wish she could add more vibrato she'll be the best 💓💓
@@dna8557 she could but her biggest vocal flaw, prone to strain, keeps her from doing it.
You can't produce vibrato with strains
a concept: Taylor re-recording all of her albums in THIS PERFECT ACOUSTIC MANNER
I'm overwhelmed at the thought
King of my heart acoustic... epic
Becoz of her old master tapes being sold to another publisher, she recently has said she'd consider re recording her songs afresh.
She has improved so much vocally
👏👏👏👏
Agreed! Cant wait for her to redo her masters!!!
blake ashley 💯 she must have had good vocal training. I love when singers are still doing that - it shows they care 😂
Agree. she honestly used to be pretty bad. When she sang "I can sing" on that one song, she really couldn't. Not in tune anyways. And while she's still not exactly Celine Dion she can definitely can sing now and actually has a really amazing low voice
@@PlumbPitiful ive never heard her say "i can sing" in a song. Which song was this?
blake ashley She isn’t Sia or Beyoncé. But her voice has this intangible quality. She conveys emotions through her voice so well.
4'59 she looks across the studio and watches the producer breakout in tears , politely grins nd finnishes off ..Taylor you made it ! Love this version , love the set ....thank you thank you ...
This young lady is really good and I agree with Phil she really does nail it ,she’s worth all the money she earns.very seldom does a rare talent such as hers come along, and that’s from a guy who’s a tad older than the great Phil Collins.
💕
I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE! I am 55 and I have felt the same way about Taylor for a while. my daughter became obsessed with Taylor when she was 7 years old, that is what got my attention. The more I watched and learned what a wholesome really genuine person she was I really fell in love with her and her music.Someone on here said feelings matter and they really do.She is an epic story teller through her music and I just love it all so much. I think my lucky stars we got the chance to meet her in 2015.
Ken Hatchett th-cam.com/video/MzRBCwuzgqw/w-d-xo.html
♥️♥️♥️
This sound would have perfectly fit with the rest of her songs in the album!
This is transcendental. Her vocal mesmerizes me every time I listen to her. She is at her peak when it comes to acoustic performances, unparalleled. The way she expresses emotions through each word is truly remarkable. I just love her so much 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
This is painfully beautiful . I thought i couldn’t love her more.
This lady is pure class....
Every song should be rerecorded with Taylor's voice
Ikr 😂❤️
Rett Bull agree!!!!!
Then she could try other songs by Leo Sayer, the original singer of this song. In case you don't know, Phil Collins's version is a cover of the original by Leo Sayer in 1978.
She could try :
- "When I Need You" which was previously covered by Julio Iglesias. This is the most famous song by Leo Sayer that became hit in mid 1970s. That song may fit to current situation when we are all supposed to stay home.
You’re right on the history. In this case she takes it to another level and it’s beautiful and it’s so emotional that leaves heartbreaking individuals wanting to hear more of her. Cause it’s that passionate from the ❤️
@@lexsoft3969 It is not original from Leo Sayer but from White Horse one year before him
It sounds like she wrote this song the whole time. It is shown that Taylor has successfully done a great job with representing the meaning of Phil's masterpiece. She is pure talented!
This is a Billy Nicholls masterpiece sung originally by Leo Sayer. Phil just did a cover like Swift
@@suejanemcclung9137 the information you put here is truly helpful, i will use it as a reference. Thank you so much. ♥️

Not really a Swiftie, but I have returned a few times to hear this. A beautiful, soft rendition, delivered from the heart.
Me too
Extraordinary... Jesus. Her soft voice, her facial expression and her lookin at the camera like that.... she could also be an actress. It feels like a lullaby before going to bed
The emotion on her face says it all. 10/10!
lol come on now she can have anyone who wants her back in this world, a ten plus the fledgling grew up to be, inside and out, 20/20 is more like it 100 percent visrion, lets evaluate? huh, evaluate what? lol her lack of being able to meet her soul, ate? or she has? she ihas a right to have some privacy/ so many earn a living wage on her works, lets not forget how much she has given,
@@onnietalone3181 take a shower and go outside touch some grass
She is not just the Queen of writing heartbreak songs but also the Queen performing them. She puts the right atmosphere and countenance. Pure talent.
Dear Taylor I am 66, twice your age. I felt you in Back to December and ìn Raindrops on my guitar also on Doubt with Mary J Blige. Your rendition of Phil Collins song Can't stop loving you isexquisite. I love you so much. You have my vote on Travis
Who else gets goosebumps at the last few lines
"Why should I even try?
I'll always be here by your side
I didn't wanna say goodbye
So why should I even try?"
Because it sounds Like the 80's and its awesome!
:')
Tanusree Nath sameee
Yeaah the whole chorus has like an 80’s instrumental ,that’s why I absolutely love this cover with her voice that perfectly suits with it
I just discovered this and It makes me wanna cry. This used to be 'our song' when my bf and I were in a long-distance relationshipt and travelled by train every weekend. Now we live together. I've been a TS fan since '09 so it is amazing to have Taylor sing this song that means so much to me.
❤️❤️
Oooh same, back to the country music era. I preferred her cheesy country music to her pop music though. She's fantastic in this cover
hope you break up
Taylor proves that she not only knows how to sing catchy songs to blast the charts around the world with her astonishing vocal power, but she also knows how to nuance a slow song with little musical accompaniment. The most important thing for a great singer-songwriter will always be the words that he transmits to us, but not with words but with the nuances of his voice and this time with a different and personal interpretation of a song by the great Phil Collins. Marvelous. 🌹💎🖤⚜
taylor’s discography mostly consists of slower songs only.

I don't think I will ever stop loving this cover. Taylor's ability to empathize and emote will always be what sets her apart for me.
Her voice is smooth like butter. A beautiful cover. You did it again Miss Taylor Allison Swift :)
Omg what a voice
Thanks Maya I didn't know Taylor's middle name. Now I do! An old fashioned name with a modern one. 😊👍

I couldn’t have agreed more!!
Taylor sang this song so beautifully that you could picture it vividly. Proud to be a Swiftie.
So true. I get goosebumps when I first listen to this cover.
Phil has lots of songs she could song.
Catrina Berringer SAMEEEE 😭😭😭 too too goood
@Richard Christopher exactly what is wrong with you that you can't let people just enjoy things? Listening to that song brings back a lot of memories from my childhood so it was nice to hear again.
@Richard Christopher then go ahead and be a miserable person. Doesn't hurt me any.
I don’t understand why people say she can’t sing. This is beautiful ❤
because they are haters. You don't have to love her but you have to admit her talents. My son is a professional musician and he won't talk her down, she isn't on his playlist but he respects her. And she is a hard worker, why she and Travis are a good match. I suspect they have similar temperaments, he always said he wanted a powerful woman rocking her own world.
I will absolutely keep this song. The part about staying by her side, it’s got my beloved Gail of 35 years written all over it. So glad we never stopped loving each other. When I played it for her, the other day, she cried. A good cry. Thanks, Taylor.
Aw sweet!
❤
You're a lovely man Floyd
Even though I've never found my beloved 'one', this Senior Swiftie still feels blessed to have Tay and how she can make me deeply feel so many loving emotions💓I'm so glad you have found her too!
Someone has to say it, this gives me “right where you left me” and “champagne problems” vibes
Yesss "leaving in the early train" and "I'll always be here if you change your mind"

I'm in love with this. Just discovered Taylor Swift when her Midnights Album came out. Lots to catch up on. She's amazing.
I gotta say, I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan, but MAN she just nailed this cover. This is one of my favourite Phil tracks, and she really did a great great job on it. Incredible
This is actually my favorite Phil Collins song, and the fact that one of my favorite artists is singing it feels like a miracle 😁☺️

What Taylor lacks in vocals, she more than makes up for in tone, deliverance, lyrics, and relation to her fans. Once in a generation talent. An icon.
Melanie Petrandis vocally she’s not nearly as dominant as others who have achieved even remotely the amount of success she has. There’s more elements to Taylor that put her over the top. You’re missing what I’m saying.

The tune, rhythm and way of "why should i" made my heart feel the question... its so beautiful.. the melody of this version made me feel the emotion i shouldn't be feeling.. im sat on my sofa watching a movie and playing this ..... but that tune puts me in a situation im not in

Thanks for taking the time to wirte this beautiful comment!!! It's nice to see there are still people out there who don't have the urge to hate
You know, it’s actually *not* originally by Phil Collins. You should go listen to Leo Sayer’s version.
Song goes way back before Phil covered it though this version seems to come from his version.
@@keyastahl3820 Hi Keya. Thanks to you and the more recent replier for pointing out this song was originally performed by Leo Sayer. I was a fan of his hit songs when I was young teenager in the 70s. I found a recording online by him of the song back you first posted your message. I did not enjoy Leo’s version, but glad it found wide acceptance later on.
This song goes back to late 70s Phil Collins didn’t do cover till 2006
3:59 oh the background vocals behind her voice are heaven 😭
Phil Collins delivered this incredible song, and I loved it, and Taylor Swift just gave me full body shivers ... wow!
Everything about this song is heavenly. A magic woman. Background singers touched to the tears. The message of "I never said Goodbye. I´m always waiting for you." is actually every truly loving being´s and GOD´s message to us. You can always come back. True love never turns into hatred. This song touches me to the core, looking into her face just releases so many emotions past trauma have buried deep. Once you listen to her music, everything else is just boring. Thank you Taylor, for being you. Your forever Swiftie.

So you're leaving in the morning on the early train
I could say everything's alright
And I could pretend and say goodbye
Got your ticket
Got your suitcase
Got your leaving smile
I could say that's the way it goes
And I could pretend and you won't know
That I was lying
Cause I can't stop loving you
No I can't stop loving you
No I won't stop loving you
Why should I?
We took a taxi to the station, not a word was said
And I saw you walk across the road
For maybe the last time, I don't know
Feeling humble
I heard a rumble
On the railway track
And when I hear that whistle blow
I'll walk away and you won't know
That I'll be crying
Cause I can't stop loving you
No I can't stop loving you
No I won't stop loving you
Why should I?
Even try, I'll always be here by your side
Why, why, why, I never wanted to say goodbye
Why even try, I'll always be here if you
Change, change your mind
So you're leaving in the morning on the early train
I could say everything's alright
And I could pretend and say goodbye
But that would be lying
Cause I can't stop loving you
No I can't stop loving you
No I won't stop loving you
Why should I even try?
Thank you
