@@refard5 They do? I'm a huge fan of GP3 in 120 format. That's awesome news. Thanks! Update: I went ahead and ordered three rolls of GP3 in 220 from my reliable seller in Hong Kong. I really dig that film when it's fresh.
@@chilecayenne KEH camera generally gives a decent price mark for those things. Or you could look at sold listings on ebay to get an idea for what you might expect to pay. Personally I wouldn't spend $100 usd on a 220 back, the $60 - $80 range is what I'd pay for them, though if you wait long enough you can find them for $50. (A common trend for 220 backs is to be half the price of a 120 backs, same rule applies with my Rollei)

I used to use film back in the day (when it was all we had) and have been thrilled by Millennials and Zs bringing it all back, and creating new stuff like Lomo. I hit the Cinestill crowdfunding page you mentioned to order a four pack, so send them this comment so they give you more free stuff. We Gotta Get Grainy Some Grain.
Sorry, not. Etkar is an ISO 100 photographic film, not a motion picture film with Remjet like Vision3 250D. They specifically claimed that "this new film is based on advanced technology found in motion picture emulsions". So if we take their words at face value, it is neither Ektar nor Vision3 250D. I'd like to see whether there'd be halation on the 4x5 since no motion picture film is available in that size. If it is 250D, we should be impressed that Cinestill can get Kodak to make a batch of 4x5.
I believe it isn't the removal of the remjet layer that changes the iso/ei, but the fact that it's being cross processed in c-41 that makes it seem more light sensitive. I heard it also changes the latitude and more of brings the darker areas up a little more, so there's less dynamic range, as it effectively slides the lower end up to brighter. Idk if that makes much sense but it's my best explanation lol
I believe the ISO of Cinestill Film is higher than the Kodak Vision3 stock it comes from is not necessarily because of the RemJet, but primarily because of the differences of the ECN-2 vs C41 process. I remember seeing this somewhere on the APUG section of the Photrio forums. Edit: Analog Resurgence just did a video and mentioned this as one of the reasons why its rated at 800 ISO
Yeah, I think Ribsy has done some direct comparisons of developing 800T in both C41 and ECN2, and the C41 negs came out a lot denser for the same exposure settings and subject.
I can’t wait to get this sexy purple roll! Those pictures looks nice, great choice camera at the right place! Thanks for sharing your great work and review.
xpan + cinestill film= sexy time. Right? right! 3:51, I really like the shot. Really gives us the idea of its DYNAMIC range. noice! Oh, love 5:51! I cant wait to get my 400Daddy....... "Did you bring that Kodak Gold"..also RIP Fettucini

I found Caleb's channel a few months ago and now yours! You two are a gem find 🥹 and watching your videos makes me giddy about learning film photography 🥰 Keep it up! 💕
Interesting that you experienced halations considering Cinestill explicitly says this is a new emulsion and not a repackaged motion picture stock in their campaign FAQ. The plot thickens....
Yeah, its very interesting as other sample images dont have halations. And there would be no reason not to have the C41 antihalation layer that all C41 film has.
You're right... removing the anti-halation layer doesn't do anything to sensitivity unless maybe you used a mirror as a film pressure plate? Vision3 250D, as a motion picture stock, is intended to be processed ECN-2. If you shot CS400D at original box speed and developed ECN-2, you'd get the flat motion picture negative. CInestill has you overexpose 2/3 a stop for processing in C-41 to create more contrast. Same goes for 500T / Cinestill 800T
looking forward to this. I shoot 250D in 35mm, but being able to buy of the shelf 120 vision 3 is eagerly anticipated in my house. shame that postage costs just made it unreasonable to back this in Australia, just have to wait for our local stores to stock it.
The only gap in the Cinestill line up is a positive E6 film stock. Now, all I need is a fridge with a Cinestill logo and Jason’s mug laser etched on it!
5:50 , 8:52 e 9:02 are pure gold - not the Kodak's, but... Well, you got it. I agree that the grain is a little too much, but not an issue. Nice video, as always 👏👏👏
The part about how red glow comes from reflected light off the pressure plate brings up an interesting point: beware when using on old cameras with shiny pressure plates...
I used to live over the hill from that movie set. I watched them film The Hills Have Eyes and House of 1000 Corpses out there. Those spots get super creepy at night.
lol, so they became a multi-million/billion dollar company in a few short years and are now capable of hiring the chemists needed, designing, developing, and manufacturing their own rolls of film? Riiiiiiiight.

I'm looking forward to getting my 120 and 35mm rolls, but thinking 120 might be better since the grain won't be as apparent. Have you shot Lomo 800? I'm pretty pleased with my results in 120. Can't really tell the difference between it and Portra 800 TBH. I have a roll of Lomo 400 in 120 in the fridge as well, but I hear it's more like Ultramax than Portra-ish. It's amazeballs to have all these choices, even if they are all really just Kodak in a different box. :P
I just knew when your 400D vid was going to drop, you would be flexin the TX-2. I should have bought it years ago at $2k... it's rising faster than bitcoin.....
I hate those halations on daylight film. They look just like bad chromatic abberations. Might as well just shoot Silbersalz35 with true ECN-2 processing. It 's essentially the same film stock. Unless you develop your own film, it 's not that much more expensive since Silbersalz35 is covering both film development and HDR scan.

400Daddy. Hmm. We'll let the marketing team know...
If you make a special edition named 400Daddy I'll buy it

or because its actually a new film
Eh, it's better to over expose each of these stocks by one stop to shoot at their native ISO.
