It would have been interesting if someone, years from now, would have recovered that lonely roll left behind and developed it only to reconnect with you. That would have been some Interstellar shit
This film stock actually looks really nice, I usually don't even bother with "new" shit cos its some rebranded trash they couldn't use anywhere else, but this looks solid. Hopefully it comes into proper production and is available down these ways. The fact they allow a 1,000 pack order is fucken wild.
@ 7:13 Looking at the film itself - seemingly it's exactly like Silberra 100, which was produced from probably same "aerial surveillance film" leftovers. Loved the Silberra 100, it is also possible to develop it as a positive in E6 chemistry with a bit of tweaks (because base still has a little bit tint).
Perhaps it's due to the lovely light but I'm seriously loving this film. Clarity for days, plus it's gorgeously warm and rich. I'm even getting slight Kodachrome vibes. 100% going to try and find some.
Aerocolor has such different looks depending on how you scan it. On my flatbed It's actually really blue and not very brown at all. I love the filmstock though. It's got a really nice grain structure...
@@someonewithsomename I think this one is a little different due to the non-orange backing in the filmstock. Analogue Resurgence does a really good break down on it. There are usually differences, but not this drastic I think.
It is also bit of an wordplay. Santa actually refers in finnish language to sand. The original film released by these folks was called santa-rae and rae means grain in finnish and it was rather grainy 1000 iso B&W film. Gain of sand ➡️ film grain. It has sort of double meaning referring to both film grain and santa claus :D
as an ipad user i absolutely looove that 4:3 aspect ratio, and i sincerely hope that there are more videos to come in this format, as to the film stock i hope they’ll succeed, the colors are truly wonderful and last but not least this video was another 11/10 keep it up, much love from germany
I did the same exact thing with a Mamiya 645 80mm f2.8 lens. I didn't realize it for a whole week. When I drove back, it was sitting right there waiting for me. Thankfully, it hadn't rained at all.
this video is a very nice photography piece itself, all the frames are really well colored, and its always a great vibe to listen to your low energy voice over.
Also available as Flik Film Elektra 100, Luminar 100 and Film Washi X, just in case youre here mich later whilst binge watching Jason's channel once again 😂
I really appreciate how this video fills up the entire screen on my iPad. Not sure if that was intentional but a neat feature. Also I think your hat is cool.
True love is driving to the middle of f****ss nowhere in the darkest darkness to pick up a forgotten roll of film. Someone *else's* forgotten roll of film.
Airsurvailance film sounds like Kodak Aerocolor, khm. Seems that what they are using is the common source of what (in europe/russia) we call Aerocolor.
by the base density and tint i can surely tell that it's 100 percent kodak aerocolor ! shot by myself hundreds of pics on this emulsion. got the best results while shooting with a conversion filters in different light scenarios my expirience tells that the native ISO is about 80, most of the bulk that i got hands on, was produced between 2012-2014. there's tons of this specific emulsion in russia film stores, 120 is way more interesting in my opinion. in datasheet the spectrum chopped around 680 nm, so there's only visible light (IR couldn't be possibly seen) if you cross-process it you could get a decent results too
Looks great! Would like to see it on more of a european landscape because now I know it looks great around the desert but last time I checked there was no desert in sight.
what's happening this year!! so many new films came out and I saw kick starter this film 20 min ago and TH-cam suggested this video straight away.. they must be watching me.. Thanks for sharing!
Recently we are having similar products available in China as well, marketing as "Izvet". Says it came from an old Kodak production line in Russia that makes air recon films. "Izvet" has the same iso so I figure they are probably based on the same film stock? (costs $8.7USD per roll 120)
Great video and review of the film! Wild seeing Newcomb's Ranch so run down. Lots of great memories driving up there in the summer for a chicken fried steak.
I just backed the project. I paid for the 8000€ tier. I'm not versed in euros so I guess that's around $80 U.S.? Anyway, happy to try some new film stock! 📸
Interesting swap to 4:3. Great video though; I generally don’t get excited about new film stocks sold by brands that aren’t Kodak but this looks really interesting, I may have to shoot some.
Hell, that's so weird when you see a video about some craft film SantaColor you've never heard before, and then Jason reveals that it might be Kodak Aerocolor 125, the one I am buying from time to time me as a cheap alternative to Gold 200 in the local film shop (10$ against 15$ by the way) and thinking why nobody spoke about this film before. Nice.
the reason it's santa film is because it's from Finland, and Finland is not only so far north that it crosses the arctic circle, they say that the "north pole" is in Finland-not the geographical one, but, ya know, as in, where santa lives. That's right. Santa is Finnish. There's a whole Santa's village in Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland. I guess it's just a thing to show that it's from a Finnish company, which I think is kinda cute.
my roll has been in my draw for a while now .. was thinking about using it for christmas (for obvious reasons) ..but iso 100 felt a little too low, and i didn’t have the balls to may shoot it in the summer though 🤔
I really hope that the campaign succeeds, never loved the colors of a film stock so much, I'd love to shoot this
Same.. this might be my new favorite stock.
Me too. On film I like the warm orange /red tones for nice summer evenings
@@grahamdickinson486 same for me!
I mean, it looks nice. But - I didn't look at the campaign - what's it really worth if they cannot reproduce it?
@@Nitidus if they can't reproduce it I will choose them really wise. And I will be proud of these picture my whole life
i'm a big fan of the production on this one. the lenses u shot with, the colorgrading, the framing, the swap to 4:3, all rly good
for sure
Love 4:3!

Santa Color 100 review crew 😄 nicely done! Perhaps Finns have an unhealthy connection to Santa. There is also a Santa theme park village in Finland.
Santa is from Finland thats why! Not from the north pole as the americans think

def reminded me of kodak gold color tones when I first saw those images
I love how you color grade the video to match the film shoots.
this was so pleasing to watch, can't decide which I want more, the leica m6 or the actual santacolor 100. love the red and yellow undertones

Man that car shot in blue hour is just fire.
haha Sweden.... cracked me up. How can you connect film called 'Santa' with Sweden will remain a mystery forever
We have santa in Sweden too. I talked to him about four months ago.
I like this aspect ratio. Keep it, please.
I love the 4x3 aspect ratio
Defiantly going to try & back this film. I bet this film would be fabulous during fall.
So sad Newcomb’s Ranch is closed now. Such an awesome place to grab food after a motorcycle ride up Angel’s Crest highway.
loving the different aspect ratio of this video
4:3 aspect ratio got me feeling like im watching a Wes Anderson film
As a finnish elf let me give you an anwser: Santa helds us all hostage, he makes us worship him.

is there an online shop where you can buy these film rolls? greetings :)

A non orange base film? Time to try reversal processing 👀
hello there 4:3 video, bring a twin peaks vibe to the outdoor footage.
“Idk what their obsession with Santa Claus is…” LMAO
the aspect ratio made me a happy boy
Amazing shot transition @10:00🔥 It's great to have B-roll as reference against this film stock!
With it being summer you should do a fairgrounds shoot. We'd all love to see it
Cool video, really makes me want to finally treat myself and buy that bejewelled crown of the analogue photography world… the Lexus LS400.
As it appears the film has no orange mask, you should be able to process it in E6 chemistry and get positives.
Interesting! Attic Darkroom needs to get onto this
Love the use of 4:3

The base reminds me of silberra colour 100. Thats clear too.

If it is a true aerial film the orange tone is to counteract the blue colour of the upper atmosphere.
Love the channel, love Baxter and the ls400
The base and the mask are quite clear. Have you think about cross processing it in E6? I wonder what kind of positive might go out of this film?
