  • A video on how I photograph small birds flight - Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Chaffinches and Robins. I am photographing from a hide and using the Olympus EM1 MkIII, and the 40-150mm F2.8 lens, and I am using Pro Capture High.

    Thanks Roger I’ll try this method. Just to thank Mike and yourself use your ideas on starlings managed to get a sharp shot with both wings wide open with them hand-in-hand. I must admit I had to take thousands of images. But it was worth it. Thank you.

    Very good Roger. You are turning them out faster and faster. This explains the idea better than I did in my video.

      This one was part made before I did the Wide Angle video. I am stuck at home at present so had the time to put this one together. I am getting quicker at the editing now.

      Cheers David. This video was part finished some weeks as you may be able to tell because the trees in the background are still in flower. I am stuck at home with a hamstring injury, so thought I may as well finish it off. .

    Nice BIF images Roger. And yes, Mike Lane is a great photographer on YT, you can learn a lot from his techniques.

      Thanks Steve. Yes Mike Lanes`s channel is excellent, and it was watching his videos that prompted me to have a go at making some.

    Hi Roger, I've just came across your TH-cam Channel whilst searching for a tutorial on video set-up on my EM1 Mk3 as I'm struggling to get sound turned on for video capture!! I recognised your name from your images on FB from Bempton recently. Didn't realise you did YT tutorials like Mike Lane, so I have subscribed to hopefully learn more from you about using my camera. Cheers Mal from North Yorkshire.

      Thanks for subscribing Mal. My TH-cam videos are very much in the `Mike Lane` style. ie. trying to impart as much information about equipment, and more importantly `how to take the images`.

    hello excellent work, I am amazed but I have a question should I keep AF-on active with procapture L thank you for your answer

      If using Pro cap Low then you can use AF. This woill be fine as a bird flies away from the feeder. In most of these pictures where the bird is fliying into the feeder, I switch the autofocus off, and use manual focus. All I do is place a stick were I think the bird will be ( 3" in front of the feeder opening) I then take the stick away. Using Pro Cap High and manual focus on the EM1mkIII will give you 60 fps. Pro Cap Low will only give you 18frps on an EM1mkIII. I hope this helps.

    Why not procap low with caf?

    • @rogerhance5883
      @rogerhance5883  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because on the Em1mkIII, the burst in C-AF Low was not enough . I needed the higher burst rate of C-AF High. Dont forget that is when I was using the EM1mkII. Now using the OM1, I would use SH2.
