I like the dial because it helps to cover the entire area on the wall from my old unit, where paint is missing 😊
That's a good reason for it! Lol it will do that :)
I have this thermostat, here's what I don't like. It doesn't show the humidity, even though I use it to control my Honeywell steam humidifier. And it only allows 5% increments to control the humidity. When using gas as your auxiliary heat, you don't know when it's being used. I have a Fit, my cutoff to stop the heat pump and use gas is manually configured at -15C; but I don't know when the system has switched to gas. The Nest on my previous Lennox showed me all that information. Wish I had the option of using any thermostat. The Fit is a great heat pump; but not a fan of the One.
It’s a common complaint and I have the one as well in our office and home and notice the same thing on our humidifier. It will show the humidity on the app, I don’t use the thermostat that often but it doesn’t show it on the Home Screen. They just came out with a redesign that’s probably a lot nice
Same here. I am starting to hate this thermostat. Just got a new system installed two days ago and the heat/cool modes are a pain to get it to reach the goal temps. Still learning it…if it does not meet my desires, I will put another ecobee. I have an ecobee on my first system and it has been spot on.
My thermostat doesn’t show the right internal temperature, Do you know how I can fix that problem? Is show me about 3 degrees below of the right temperature.
Calibration settings it’s in the installer settings in the menu…. Technically go to installer settings and click the little “i” logo and that’s your code to login to the thermostat… then you can change the calibration to up or down 3 degrees or whatever you need and it will change the display temp to match the right temp.
Great job Howard!
Thankfully the dial is going away soon!!😂
Haha totally! I heard that, great news lol
Our Daikin ONE thermostat shows the wrong temperature once or twice a week. When the issue happens the thermostat is about four degrees off. The house temperature is really 81 but the thermostat shows 77. Powering down the entire system doesn’t correct the issue. We simply have to set the temperature to 74 to kick on the ac. It usually fixes itself in an hour or two. We had the service technician replace the thermostat and it still happens, but not as often. I asked them to replace it with the newer one touch. But they want 395 plus a warranty processing fee of 85. Anyone ever experienced this? Any thoughts on whether upgrading to the newer thermostat will fix the issue?
I don't think it's necessarily the thermostat, the wall might have draftiness somewhere that's seeping into the wall affecting the temp. I would check the wall with a temp gun and see if that's what's happening if it's hotter / poor insulation in certain areas, and you could always insulate the cavity behind the stat if that's the case to try to keep it the same temp as the room. Or move it to another wall? Is it an exterior wall? I can't say I've seen this issue that's why I'd look elsewhere... sometimes techs miss obvious stuff like this it happens
Thank you for the reply. It is an inside wall. I will check for a draft next time it happens.
Thanks for this interesting review. Question: can we switch from F to Celsius ?
Yes I believe so, if it's not in the regular settings it's in the installer settings which is in the settings menu. But that's a basic request and should be easy to accommodate
Yes under settings
@The HVAC Dope Show, “CTK04 does NOT have built-in WiFi functionality”? I’m surprised by your comment. The CTK04 looks remarkably like my Honeywell RTH9580 WiFi Color Touchscreen Programmable Thermostat which I have had for eons. I don’t know if Honeywell makes the CTK04 or vice versa, but intuitiveness of RTH9580 is just outstanding. Would think CTK04 would have built-in Wi-Fi functionality too.
I know it’s crazy you would think it does but it requires a sling Gateway. It’s kind of ridiculous.
Which is better daikin fit or carrier infinity
Which carrier infinity? The 24 seer? Depends on climate but for cooling the 24 seer is better than the daikin fit in high ambient (110F +) climates
I just had my Daikin system installed (Daikin DZ6VS). The Daikin One thermostat is a downgrade from my Nest. Aside from the clunky interface and the inability to share controls with my wife, the biggest issue is the limit of only 4 schedule events per day. My wife works from home and we have time of day power metering with peak pricing in the afternoon. Our schedule is more complicated than 4 schedule events. Nest allows for scheduling on 15 minute intervals all day long. The schedule function is simple programming. Daikin has no excuse to limit scheduling to 4 events.
The thermostat is really the only complaint we get on the Daikin Fit, is there no way to add more events? That does seem like an odd limitation… I personally don’t use scheduling and just kind of use it on demand from my phone but I could see how that would be limiting
So, I have this thermostat and I’m not sure if this is normal, but when the LED like is selected, and when it comes on, the thermostat makes a very high pitched noise. The installer came out and replaced it, thinking that it was a defective, but the second thermostat make the same noise, is this typical? I called Diakin but their customer service was lack luster, meaning they were absolutely zero help.
High pitched noise is not normal. It’s only when it turns on? I would check other sources are you sure it’s coming from the thermostat? Could be coming from a nearby vent or something…
How can I put the fan in auto? When the heat or A/C kicks on the fan will kick on? Instead of a schedule or always on
Set circulate air to “off” and that by default means auto and it will not circulate air unless there’s a call for heating or cooling
Can you connect multiple mini-splits to the thermostat or just one?
This thermostat? Technically what you’re referencing is a commercial application or something a VRV life can handle, where multiple head units are made “slave” or “subs” to a main control, so you can keep 5 head units all tied to one thermostat. But that’s going to be a VRV life setting inside the installer settings
Does this Daiken One thermostat have the "Dry Mode" I have a 3 ton 17.5 seer central heat pump system? Thank you.
Yes it does it’s not exactly dry mode like a mini split though, it should have dehumidify as an option in the settings or “overcool to dehumidify” and you can set your target humidity range so that the system will keep cooling to remove humidity.
My thermostat is online with my wi-fi but won't connect to the Daikin cloud so I cannot use my iPhone app. Any solution?
Not sure if you’ve tried updating the firmware already but that might help. There’s a setting in the installer settings that allows this and should also show in the main settings area I believe
Go to your settings find thermostat and do a restart
Can the Daikin one control a Dz6Vs and my back up boiler?
Technically I believe through the aux terminals and a relay board, idk if the juice is worth the squeeze but if you really want to integrate it you could. We have separate controls for our boiler and it works
But with separate controls.... I would manually turn off the heat pump then turn on the boiler ... Sort of takes the convenience of having a "switchover" COP temp in mind
Can you add a remote room sensor to Daikin ONE+ for communicating system? Just like Nest and ecobee
I’m not 100% sure I don’t think so and it’s been one of its shortcomings… we brought this up in the beginning and I think they’re working on adding one.
Does daikin make zone control systems for communicating equipment ? Like zone panels
Yes they do and it will work with the Daikin one or the other communicating thermoststs
Having to buy their thermostat is a deal killer for me when I already have an Ecobee. I can cool my home for a couple years for the cost of this thermostat.
I don’t blame you, The thermostat is definitely not very competitively priced but the communicating feature is what drives up the price compared to a standard thermostat signal which is a basic 24v relay. Hopefully the price comes down soon
Their units are great their thermostat needs a total function recap
I have this thermostat but the minimum range for heating is 60. I wish I can have it set at 55 to save a little extra money in the Winter
I agree it’s a major limitation, there’s no settings I’m aware of to change that unfortunately but if they have an update it should change that
If you have this thermostat , you are already saving money because of the equipment you have
Is this still the case?
Can it be used with a heat pump mini-split?
No, it can be used with VRV life ductless head unit but that’s typically going to be installed with multiple units plus central air. The thermostat works well with the daikin fit, if you’re wanting a Wi-Fi thermostat for a ductless system that only has one head unit I believe the Madoka is a good bet, much less expensive and also Wi-Fi enabled (daikin one is a little pricey in my opinion for what it is)
I have one and i have trouble, it’s saying “pressure error”
Probably a dirty filter or condenser unless it leaked out its refrigerant… assuming it’s talking about pressure switch on the heat pump unless you’re talking about a pressure switch error code on the furnace? If it’s the furnace it’s different symptoms and fix, normally clogged condensate line or trap
I'm having an operational error. Can anyone please help!?

Enjoying a Daiken Fit here in central Florida GLAD I DUMPED A TRANE
One thing that baffles technical folks is Daikin One thermostat and the settings.. Fan trims percentage? what's would be the ideal setting for hot Florida and Humidity profile options? ..There are A B C and D profiles. no clue what’s ideal humidity profile, what would be optimal fan trim? what is a good setting is for Central Florida, no explanation for what each setting does...HVAC unit is solid, your thermostat needs a bad functionality update. You are way behind an EcoBee…and you give us no choice.
That’s awesome thank you! I would ask your installer / contractor to set it up because if you go into the installer settings (there’s a little “i” that has the installer code and you type in that code to get into the settings) and then you can set overcool to dehumidify and humidity set points in the installer menu. My guess is that the humidity setpoint there are 50 or 60% ? But I have no idea because it’s such a different climate from Colorado. I’ll ask one of our techs from Florida though and see what he thinks because he might have some insight
@@TheHVACDopeShow
They set it up profile D with and Standard dehumidifier function set at 60%..as opposed to other options …the kid doing the work could not explain why this was ideal?
I dont even have the fan option on mine. I do have fan speed under circulate air if set to on, but not on the main. My AC company can't get the darn thing calibrated properly. Humidity levels go as high as 61% when my old system would be at 46%.
Sounds like maybe adjust the target humidity setting. You should have the fan option under circulate air which is normal (sounds like what you’re referencing), but overcool to dehumidify is an option and you just set your target humidity. We have low humidity in Colorado so it’s the opposite issue, we run humidifiers in the winter.
Hi ! My name is Trung Le. I just purchased my whole house central air Daikin Heat Pump and air handler last week.( I made the decision caused watching your TH-cam). Heat pump Model number DZ5SEA6010AB , 5 ton, 15.2 seer. My seller told me it's 1 staged ( 1stage ) but the installer told me it's 2 stage ( 2 speed ). Could you please tell me it's 1 speed or 2 speed ? Thank you .
Right on glad the videos helped 😁 yes that’s a single stage if it’s the DZ5 model so the sales guy was correct
I have that same thermostat and don't see the fan speed settings, I see "One clean'" instead on that same exact page...strange
Update it , make sure it has internet
Perhaps you need to turn it on the “clean “ option
If you don’t have fan speeds is because you don’t have a modulating furnace blower
It should be in there that’s odd
I'm an HVAC/R technician. This is by far the worst thermostat I have ever seen.
That huge dial is a waste of space and doean't work well.
It doesn't have the ability to get my house to temperature at a time i choose. The app asks me to re-login monthly. The thermostat doesn't have the ability to install remote sensors and/or averaging sensors. Total garbage. Daikin needs to hire some honeywell engineers. Also impossible to find info on installer setting for people who are somewhat technical.
The dial is gone on the next version
@@danielfitzmaurice5051
Oh sweet. now i can spend another $500.
Would it be fairly easy to replace this with a better option?
The worst thermostat I’ve ever owned. What can be used as a replacement?
It can't be replaced with something different if you have a higher end variavle speed heat pump.
Update! Dialkem has gotten rid of the wheel
I own a Daikin heat pump (AC and heating) here in Los Angeles, California. The Daikin One thermostat wheel is a total disaster, useless, clunky, slow. It is an embarrassment to Daikin as a company. My advice: this wheel is so bad, don't buy a Daikin system. Even if the rest of the system is good, you'll be stuck with this giant non-functioning wheel on your wall that your wife will strongly dislike. And you can't get a different thermostat either: if you go with Daikin, you're stuck with this thermostat.
The Daikin One Touch is out now and you can get that instead and it doesn’t have the wheel.
Idk why Nest is even brought up. No Hvac professional would ever install one of those. They are junk. Ecobee though, they are nice.
Customers ask us too… I think lots of hvac professionals install them because they sell them at every parts house lol. But yeah about 1 in 10 seems to be bad out of the box or glitchy, not the best but people like them
The Daikin one thermostat is absolute crap compared to the Nest. One feature of the Nest I really miss is the ability to monitor energy consumption graphically presented on the Nest app while out of the country. The Nest is also intuitively ergonomic for anyone to use. Also the Nest is a THIRD the cost of the Daikin One and don't feed me that shit about two way communication etc. The R&D in the Daikin is archaic compared to the Nest. The proprietary nature of the Daikin One is nothing less than a cash grab at extortionist pricing. TOTALLY undermines my confidence in Daikin as a consumer conscious company.
You’re not alone in your opinion of the Daikin One, it’s actually Honeywells communicating technology so Honeywell charges the same amount for the CTK04 which still requires a sling gateway. I agree I’m not impressed with it but the Daikin one touch has Gotten better on pricing but I still think they could come in closer to the nest and make the interface more user friendly, less clunky, etc… just study an iPhone and make it look and feel as smooth as an iPhone and you’ll have a great thermostat, but the interface does feel clunky
Needs HomeKit compatibility.
But does it have swing or oscillating modes for ductless Daikin’s? That’s literally all I care about and I have yet to find any literature about that. The useless Residio unit our tech left us with does not.
I don’t believe so and I don’t think it pairs with the Daikin ductless systems. We use it on VRV life and Daikin fit and have never tried it on a ductless
@@TheHVACDopeShow Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t think it did.
Currently we’ve got a Honeywell D6 Pro Wi-Fi Ductless Controller for each unit and we connect remotely with the Residio smart phone app. The Honeywell unit’s user interface is extremely basic and the app can access more features than the unit itself. I’ve been doing some research and I’ve been advised by the people at Mysa say that their unit will work with the vertical and horizontal swing modes so I’ll grab a couple of those and hopefully we’ll be all set.
This video lacks information such as how to temporarily override a schedule, differences between one and one+.
Thanks for the feedback, the one+ is just for VRV life is my understanding but we can do an updated review / head to head 😁
Hate that this thermostat locks you out at 60 for heat and 64 for a/c.
Yes 61 for heating is annoying it’s kind of weird, and 64 for AC has to do with design limitations of the actual refrigerant. Once the temperature inside your home hits 64 the refrigerant (410a) is kind of at its design limits so past that point it’s not able to really absorb a lot of heat in the home. 64 is pretty chilly but most VRV products can handle 62~63 set points… but it is not efficient and will normally run constantly on full blast trying to hit set point in the summer
UI looks likes a direct copy of Ecobee
I hate these fits, like the One stat, but when the fits give you fits you want to pull your hair out.
The only time we've really had issues with them is the gateway adapter randomly, but that was a one off and was really weird. Besides that we haven't had issues. We use surge protectors on the condensers if the home doesn't have a whole home surge protector and those cause less issues. The Daikin one touch is a better thermostat than the OG Daikin One
The thermostat is really bad. I just use the Google home and now I can also use voice commands.
I think that you don’t have it commissioned or programmed properly
This thermostat is if not the best one of the best
@@gearheadsltd5590 you could be right. My problem is that sometimes I move the wheel two full spins and nothing happens. Then, other times I nudge it counterclockwise and instead of lowering the temperature. It makes it warmer. The software update helped but I refuse to use the wheel. I usually stick to the Google home app or the touchscreen.
@@AngelLopez-iv5jv so, the wheel is almost useless, and it works with small intervals of half a degree per turn i think, if you go slower instead of fast you will se what i mean.
you can also tap and hold on the screen and you will be able to change the desired temperature faster.
in any case, if its giving you issues still, the thermostat should be in warranty from factory and from the company whom installed your equipment, they should be replacing it.
let me know if you still have issues, i know quite a bit of this thermostat, ive installed hundreds of them, and i really like it.
Cuidese!
Yes the wheel isn’t great lol but they have a daikin one “touch” now that got rid of the wheel
total BS - Daikin does not have a support line either - they put you in one of those customer support phone code loops. Daikin sucks bad!!!
Daikin has tech support, we call them anytime we need help commissioning a VRV and they’re normally pretty helpful 1 (855) 324-5461, that’s the best number to call sorry to hear your having issues. What issues are you having with the thermostat? Or is it system issues too? Most common thermostat issues are usually wiring or communication issues
Daikin thermostat is garbage. The wheel is a joke. The touchscreen is from the 90s, no sensitivity at all, and VERT laggy. My daiking keeps disconnecting from wifi, and it takes like 5-10mins to reconnect it typing the wifi password on it over and over again. Try typing a 15 character password on that stupid non responsive touch screen - it is a joke. The app is ok, but it only functions if the thermostat is online - which in my case it keeps disconnecting. So annoying
I don’t disagree lol… the new touch is nicer, but the old daikin one is overpriced and clunky. I told them to call Apple and get them to design it then you’d have a working interface and nice design… but you’d probably have to upgrade every 2 years if Apple made it 😂
The thermostat It's CRAP!!!!
