It must have been exhilarating for Vader to say that. To tell someone, for the first time in twenty years, that he had some kind of familial relationship with him. It seems sudden in the film, but Vader had been building up to it for many months. And of course Luke was shocked. This droid-like monster who killed his master, tortured a woman who was his friend (and unbeknown to him his sister), and committed a number of other sins, is also his father. Imagine if Joseph Stalin fought you, beat you up, and then told you that you were his son. While Vader isn't necessarily as irredeemable as old Joseph, he is roughly in the same position in the eyes of the galaxy.
Part of me is confused. Boba didn’t seem to find that name familiar, but I would think he would definitely be aware of who Anakin Skywalker is. Maybe it just wasn’t relevant to bring up to Vader since I’m sure Boba doesn’t know Vader is Anakin.

Finding out Luke was his son was not when Vader began to come back to the Light, because at this point he simply thought he could make Luke his new apprentice in the Dark Side and use him to overthrow the Emperor. But I believe it was the event that triggered the beginning of the return of Anakin Skywalker's personality to the surface (if we see Anakin and Vader as two different personalities).
I never accepted that personalities stuff. They are the same...I liken it to more of an assumed identity to hide behind, like going on the run after a crime.
I was never really into "split personalities" or addressing them as different people, maybe only for clarity as Vader = suit, Anakin = pre suit. Vader is his Sith name, he also uses it as a coping mechanism to disassociate from his past trauma and memories. Revenge of the Sith novelization ending was perfect in how it portrayed the moment he was put into the suit and then learned of Padme's death. He wasn't addresses as Vader, but as Anakin, suffering and burning in his own flame. As Sith preach ultimate egoism and elevation of oneself, now Anakin will have only himself and consequences of his choices to suffer through the rest of his life.

This event eventually led to reemergence of anakin to return in ep 6 Anakin last showed up in kenobi 6 and maybe just a bit in New Hope but given the RotS defeat happened when anakin we Vader is lean towards ep 6 Of kenobi

What makes this incredibly tragic was that everything Vader did in service to Sidious and the Empire was fueled under the belief he murdered his wife and unborn children. But upon learning about his son's existence, the once emotionally extinguished tyrant himself started to drift away from the dark side and slowly to the light. Padme knew there was good in Anakin and in the end, Luke saved his father from the very side of evil that consumed his soul many years ago, therefore solidifying Padmes quote
When Padme look into Anakin's eyes when he was on the dark side, she was scared, crying, and didn't realize her husband at all. And you can tell how she was!!!
You get a lot of that in SW. Check out Threepio's body reactions to stuff even though his face only has that wide-eyed expression. For example, when he sees the droid being tortured and jerks up in fear. That's one of the acting skills used in the original movies that I love to see.

Palpatine probably knew immediately what Vader had discovered, and he would just have to feel Vaders world destroying fury to get the message from Vader;”I. *Know*” But god that “I understand *us* completely” line is great.

Anakin probably thought that when Padmae died, that she didn't have the baby. No one knew that she was carrying twins. She gave birth before she died. Obi-wan was right to hide Luke and Leia from him. It would not have been good.

I‘ve always wondered why in a new hope vader said that luka has seen the end of kenobi and will soon see the end of the rebellion. It kinda sounds like he knows lukes his son or at least special
This scene (based off a canon comic moment) is set after the a new hope but before empire strikes back. Vader had no idea who the boy with Obi-Wan was until this moment.
"I understand us perfectly" is the most epic line of this entire video. Now it makes total sense why he was asking luke to join him and overthrow the Emperor. As emperor scheme against him so he schemed against him.

I could definitely see this as an insert or post credit scene for A New Hope, thus setting up Vader’s pursuit of Luke in ESB

I love relationship between Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker & Boba Fett. His whole entry Family like Luke , Leia and his wife Padme.
This gave me goosebumps and almost made me cry

I‘ve always wondered why in a new hope vader said that luka has seen the end of kenobi and will soon see the end of the rebellion. It kinda sounds like he knows lukes his son or at least special
This scene (based off a canon comic moment) is set after the a new hope but before empire strikes back. Vader had no idea who the boy with Obi-Wan was until this moment.
Sheev Palpatine so when sidious told him that the rebel is his son in empire strikes back he reacted surprised because he wanted to keep it a secret?
Exactly! Vader had to play his cards just right with Palpatine or it would be game over for him.
