Felt real bad for Rudy this ep. He was doing his best to do the right thing and not take advantage of Eris while she was in a vulnerable mindset (a far cry from how he would have acted earlier in the series, showing how much he has grown), and she just leaves.
He clearly cared greatly for her as well, and now he's all alone. No clue what he will do next
Tbh, it’s a two way street. Eris clearly took advantage of Rudy and knew what she was doing. In a way I think this was needed to show that they both still have a long way to go. Very excited to see both of their journey going forward!

Just one slight correction/addition. The part where Ghislaine said that Eris and Rudeus should be together wasn't just about Paul doing such good work getting as many people back as possible, it was because Rudeus's mother, Zenith, was also a Noble. If Eris married into Rudeus's side of the Greyrat family then she would regain her nobility.
Yeah, the fact that Zenith is a noble is very important to the story later on, so I definitely think this should have been mentioned.
Yeah but at the same time, House Latriea did not have any obligation towards the people of the Asuran Kingdom, that was why Alphonse was so against it.
Hey, AniNews. This is interesting cut content. At first glance skipped scences may seems to be minor, but for me they add a lot. Parting with Rujierd without knowing where is going felt incomplete. Part about curses was only glanced in anime. Situation with Eris future is much clearer after your explanation. I wasn't aware, it was so politically convoluted.
Nonetheless it was slow, but emotional episode. It is a shame, that only 1 episode left. Hopes for new season to air in a year or so.

In the german subtitles on Wakanim, the letter was more direct: "At the moment you are too superior for me".
That's what eris indeed meant, but it's a bit too accurate, since the letter is meant to be ambiguous enough that one can reasonably think she meant "we ain't a good couple"
We better not have to wait 2-3 years for the next season. I loved this so much. This has to be anime of the year with From You to Eternity very close behind.

They've all grown up so much on this trip. Rujired is no longer an angry, bitter "young" man resentful at the world he's become a wiser, mellower, happier person and a sort of avuncular figure to Rudeus and Eris.
Eris is no longer the rich haughty spoiled girl who was full of herself, but has become a strong fighter and warrior in her own right. She realizes there is much in this world and to keep what she wants she needs strength. Having encountered and fought a God, Eris has an aiming point and definitive goal.
Rudeus is no longer the wild horndog constantly perving women and wanting to screw them, he's become more considerate and much less rapey. Rudues also has become a leader of a sorts, and become a figure of hope for many people. He's learned the value of life from killing others, and being killed himself.
Nah, Rudy is still a horndog all right.
Though he does go through a bit of development in that department...

Man i love this vids, adding more story to understand the show even more.
I read the LN/WN and there is a description of how Eris' parents were when found. But I think it was in a much later conversation many chapters later. Said that they were in really bad shape and that they were killed shortly after arriving in the conflict zone. Goes on to describe the brutal wounds found on them in a short discript way. But again I'm almost positive it was at a later time.
Can I ask but what volume of LN/WN did you read where Eris parents death were described?.

Thank you so much for doing these types of videos . After just discovering this gem of an anime I really can’t hold in my excitement for this show. The world building to the writing just drew me in and I couldn’t get enough of it . And having finished it in 2 days , not able to get this show out of my head (especially the last episode of part 2). I knew the relationship between Eris and rudeus had changed but I never thought so in depth about it and these videos explain so much and re ignite my excitement all over again. Although I have to say that I was so distraught when eris left and left rudeus . I understand her feelings but man that really hit hard .

You just made my day and I really hope they will release more content in 2022 and 2023.
The part about this episode that got to me, other than the two devastating moments of characters leaving Rudy, was the moment before the love scene. Rudeus was offered something he'd wanted already, something that they had promised to do when they were older, and he refused. Instead of Rudeus trying to do something sexual, it was Eris pushing him towards it and causing him to eventually give in. It's a sign of growth that he's starting to realize that the women around him are more than objects, and that he needs to respect them. No matter how much he denies it in the end, he changed.

has there been a confirmation on season 2 yet? Gonna be a hard wait this is by far one of the best anime's that have come out in a good while.
Rudy is literally a country level threat at this point.(this is Assuming his nuke magic workes) with that being said restoring a town shouldn't be hard with Earth magic. I'd imagine it'd take a month or so but making earth houses should be possible it could likely assist with farming as well. If he does decide to rule that region or gain a name for himself being Paul's son than that's probably the best way to do it.

For anyone that needs quick context for Eris’ departure:
After their encounter with Orsted, she realized that Rudeus’ unparalleled growth has become her crutch. She wanted to better herself on her own terms outside of her comfort zone (by Rudeus’ side) so she left to train.
Minor spoiler: She’ll be back eventually, and you’ll understand her reasoning for doing this.
Do I think she could’ve been more transparent with her intentions? Absolutely. But these are teenagers. She’ll be best girl again soon enough (opinion).
Not only that they're teenagers (something that is important to keep in mind that in world 15 is the age of adulthood, so they're not considered kids.) but it's also a matter of personality, Eris is VERY bad with words and expressing herself so it's only natural that she wouldn't be able to get her true feelings across.

When I went through this episode in the novel I could actually feel the emotion and pain rudius had when eris had left him. I didn't feel that same way when watching the episode and maybe its because I knew what happened already but the manga just made me feel more like wtf is happening and why would she do this to him. What's next after Returning? Well if I was Rudeus I'd continue trying to find everyone still lost, while maybe finding out what was behind The Teleportation Incident.🤔
Nah as part of actual nobility. I'd consolidate power. I would have founded a mercenary band of adventurers to earn funds to rebuild the region (just make Paul the leader). While also giving pretext for people to continue searching for people not yet found long after the official rescue campaign is over. Then jump straight into politics as Rudy gives his services to quell the conflicted zone, not only to earn himself a small kingdom, but to also raise himself up against the conspirators that might want to destroy him and the remnants of the Boreas family. Essentially become too useful/powerful/rich to be touched. Afterwards consolidate military power by founding a magic military academy which I have no doubt many nobles and mages would want to join (hell even many mages in that magic school he'd want to join would defect to him and share all their knowledge as a sort of tuition or resume). Because they can learn the legendary incantationless casting. And in doing this, he pretty much has the children and heirs of many major families hostage and he can work to raise up the next generation of nobility to side with him once he's ready to take over. Once everything becomes self sufficient and with a now vast network of information, as he makes alliances across the world. He could find everyone he wanted, send messages and envoys and bodyguards to who he feels needs the help. And go independently for more personal matters, armed with vast resources behind him.

@@noambracha2495 I considered that but a married noble has much less political options than an unmarried one. As Rudy would rise up. He would have plenty of families throwing their daughters at him to possibly create an alliance, even having them as mistresses would be enough while still clawing at each other for that coveted wife position. This keeps the other houses focus away from Rudy himself. But on each other. And he can always dangle the prospect of marriage over anyone he might want to bargain with. Not even to the point of offering marriage but the lowering of chances by losing his favour.
And honestly. Its not necessary for Rudy to become the head of the Boreas (a currently shamed and ruined house). He's already part of another branch of the Greyrat and can rise up from where he currently is.
@@ceresbane makes sense, really. But dont forget that Fittoa is Sauros' land, and if his granddaughter Eris claimed it, it would definitely have no contest. You could say that its just Greyrat land, but it is first Boreas then Greyrat, since James, Philips brother that won the succession war, has the place in his command, so Rudeus has 0 claim. Not only all of the above but who do you think is the most shamed? Boreas, whose leader, Sauros, accepted the execution so his family(eris)'s name was cleared, or the son of the deadbeat Notos firstborn that left his duty to go adventuring, abandoning the Notos name and his nobility? Not only that, but now he's got an even WORSE reputation among nobles after all the slavery-stealing shennanigans. Rudeus has no right to the land, so the only thing he could do to win it himself would be to gain the favor of all the people and possibly fight for the right to rule, which could be avoided by just, well, marrying Eris.
@@noambracha2495 As I see it. A direct conflict is inevitable. As he is now Rudy is just rather a talented young mage and possibly a high ranking adventurer. I'm using his nobility as like a foot in the door for a later move. For now he needs to gain renown and gather allies and resources he can gather via his own means as a mage of unparalleled power. In this kind of age, biggest army diplomacy always works. If you got enough military might you can do whatever the hell you want. But if Rudy is nobility. He has legal claim (even if its flimsy). So he can intimidate through his foreign alliances, factions joining him and systematically undermine his opponents before they even notice.
Marrying Eris is a good short term solution. But from the get go he'd be surrounded by enemies immediately and very few actual powerful allies. As he is now though. No one is paying enough attention to realise the threat he poses. Giving him the chance to set up a coup d'etat with an immediate coup de gras if he's given the time to build up the means.
This episode hurted a lot
