Thanks for all the support throughout this series everyone! Sorry for it being so late. The holiday season ended up leaving me with little time to make videos. We're back on the grind now with Arifureta vids starting next week!
This is one of my favorite channels. I don't have the time to read the manga and novels for every good anime I watch so you fill in a ton of blanks I could never fill on my own. Thanks a lot and you introduce me to many good Isekai like Mushoku Tensei which I only heard about through your videos and I loved it. Keep being awesome and making awesome content my guy. 😁
Rudy doesn't realize how important he is to the people in his life which in turns keeps him humble and is able to do things he physiologically could do in his previous life.
@@Reiyreiyreiy1 well the author decided to write his erectile dysfunction as a symbol of his self-confidence. It is "unique", despite being a weird, but honestly it is still justifiable. What is not justifiable, however, is the lack of purpose besides this, as in that it is a very weak arc in terms of writing for a segway.
The way the anime portrayed it with Zenith saying "I love you" which makes Rudy go "I have to go" even though he's hurting plus the ending music was absolutely beautiful to me!
It really gave me vibes of Simon from Gurren Lagan. The end credits of the second part of the series showing Simon moving forward. Simon lost a lot of important people in his life but continues to move no matter what. The pain and love are there but that’s a part of him now. Such an inspiring image
Yes, this is the one scene that in my opinion the anime did better. In the offical novel, it just made it seem like he decided to get up and go randomly. Or maybe I missed something idk. But putting that chapter with zenith and him deciding to go probably made it my favorite scene in the anime so far
@@crthejediknightninja but that wasn't used during this scene in the LN, that was just said way earlier in the story. The anime did this part way better, in the LN and manga it seemed like Rudy just randomly got up and went, no problem. vs Showing all the turmoil and pain going on inside of him like the anime showed here
Well to be honest Rudeus is 40+ years old mentally (if you include his past life) and Eris is only 15 years old. If anything the misunderstanding is 50-50 fault, if not more on the side of Rudeus who should have realised it that Eris had difficulty communicating.
@@Desi_Nehra No Rudeus is max 13 mentally! That’s what people don’t understand. His mental development stopped as he started living seclusive life. He had never developed any communication abilities needed for a grownup to function in society. He hasn’t talked to people for 20 years! Before he died he was a literal “manchild”!
@@Desi_Nehra Dude was a 30 year old school dropout and shut-in in his previous life. You need to lower your expectations because socializing is not a shut-in's specialty.
I was so happy to see Rudy pick himself up. No one had to push him. No one had to lecture him. He didn't get thrown out. He got up, and started moving forward largely on his own.
Nope he didn't, he literally become a FKING depress, never have a shining smile like before but a Paul look with a FKING Emo Op mage with a freaking PTSD and his D*** didn't even work anymore cuz of the shock he received from Eris, Eris with her ignorant literally Ruined Rudy life for years until a certain someone save him from depression
@@wakatsuki4563 You know your statement is only from the perspective of the very dense Rudeus. Ruijerd explains the whole situation best despite knowing the least.
@@robbieaulia6462 I mean, it's not entirely wrong that the poorly written note of Eris resulted in Rudeus taking it the way you'd expect someone with severe self confidence issues would.
I was under the impression that after they fought Orsted & lost badly, she left to get stronger, but realized she couldn't get stronger if she stayed with Rudeus, since she'd always feel like she'd be trapped in Rudeus's shadow.🤷🏿♂️
/// potential spoiler below that's how i remember the light novel too, that the reason she went to train and become a sword god (or whatever that kind og thing was called) was because she couldn't match rudeus and belived doing that would have her improve at a faster rate
That was stupid because she was a swordsman type while he was just a mage. Regardless, the story doesn’t follow her much at all from this point. She just comes back all strong and saves Rudy from that whatever monster at the end, then they just get married and she’s just another wife. It sucks. We get little more than a summary of 2 decades of how she became the strongest bad ass in some clan devoted to sword fighting. The demon tutor girl doesn’t even show up in for another few arcs and it’s just time with boring academy friends and the half elf girl. Even the other Japanese reincarnated teen at the academy is boring as hell.
Rudy's own self-hatred that he doesn't just see his impact on other people and yet he still tries reminds me so much of Oldboy's quote, "Even if I'm no better than a monster, don't I still have the right to happily live?"
@@jossland1628 Errm I don't think so bro. Mushuko Tensei is definitily too popular for the studio to not make a season 2, it would litterally be a waste. Yes season 2 is not confirmed but there's no way they would igrone how popular the anime is
Rudy gets up to go back to his duty to search for Zenith was badass. His fears once again gripped his soul. Being abandoned knocked him down, but his duty got him up off his ass. Ma boi is now a man.
If anyone here really liked the show, I urge you to read the light novels. The detail in them is fantastic and the continuation of the story is captivating. I read Vols 6-14 in a week and had a hard time putting them down!
@@raynaldisiahaan7460 i don’t know much about the mange since it’s the furthest thing from the source material. But are you asking where the manga starts after S1?
Man, it's gonna be a long winter till we get news for a season 2, hopefully the animation team gets some rest till they work on the Eris ova. Season 2 is in 2023, I’m hyped. And now we wait for Season 2 part 2. It’s here, Season 2 part 2 is just beyond the horizon.
Man this episode had a lot of good moments. The one that got me was when Paul met up with Aisha and Lilia. We saw how devastated he was without them, but seeing him do what Rudeus taught him, to bend down with your arms open to embrace a kid you haven't seen in years is the highlight for me.
The thing that got me about Eris’ inner monologue about Rudy was her thinking “His hands are so small and soft. Especially compared to mine.” Like that was how the switch flipped for her like “Oh… I’ve been taking advantage of someone younger than me. /I/ should have been protecting /him/. He’s smaller than me.”
But then she took advantage physically and used him to drown her grief about her family being dead. So much not ok with how she did that and why she did that, let alone doing it at all.
"Took advantage" is a matter of perspective here. He's way older than her from his perspective, but he's socially quite stunted and from the outside perspective a young creep. They both had power over the other before the Disaster (tutor and employer), then it shifted to depending on each other to survive the Disaster. They're also from branches of the same family. Sleeping together is all kinds of messed up from both of them, but expected in a world like theirs. And she had them wait until they were back, quest completed, returned home, before she gave in (to herself and to him). This was the best opportunity for it to happen, even if it's morally icky from a modern point of view.
@@LibertyMonk No shit Sherlock. Its literally Eris' thoughts. She doesnt know Rudeus is a reincarnated adult because he lets no one know. We're discussing Eris' motivations, not the fucking morality of it....
@@tolerdanuyou can disagree with that, after all your comment is basically eris's own thought after she had done the deed and realized how small rudeus hands are compared to hers. It's also what compelled her to left rudy immediately instead of telling him her plan and insecurities which left rudy in shambles. But, eris has always thought of rudy as someone reliable who is always out of her reach and she yearns to stand by his side as an equal. She want to be useful to rudy and become truly equal. But after being confronted by deaths, not only her parents and grandfather, but also rudy's, and her inability to prevent that has messed up her mind and drove her to secure the closest and most sincere family member she had, rudy. So i symphatize with her. After all, they are basically homeless and the only way to regain her family status is to abandon her promise to rudy and left him to be a mistress to an unknown politician. Something which is rudy and eris wouldn't want to happen
Eris is the character I didn't like at first, but by the end of the series she was borderline my favorite character. No one was as ride or die as her. Her desire for vengeance is unmeasurable.
bruh, I loved how they showed Eris' and Rudeus' perspectives on the same event, Eris being happy and loving rudy while rudy being depressed af cuz eris communicated her intent so poorly.
After finishing the anime MT became the first light novel I’ve ever read. Just finished volume 12 and to be blunt, my heart is in shambles. Definitely a top 3 series for me
Volume 12 just rips your heart appart. Keep reading. It will get more amazing. There are these slice of life moments yes but when shit gets serious, SHIT GETS SERIOUS. End of Volume 14 and Volume 15 is when you are going to love this series so much.
@@severjanlici2032 volume 12 really made me cry like a lot and it makes me sad that I'm about to finish the story with 2 more web novels to go but not as much as volume 12 did
I DIDN'T realize there was one last episode I missed. I thought it ended with eris's leaving and haven't checked back. Thank you for the update and love your content.
I've read the whole light novel series, Eris was really simple minded is the best way to describe why she left the way she did. If she knew the pain and damage she caused him I think she would have wrote a different message like I'm leaving for training to be by your side one day. You would think she was the blonde in the relationship.
Leaving a clearer message probably wouldn't have helped, Rudeus still be crushed and his self-loathing would have convinced him it was a white lie. She's incapable of telling white lies, but that's also the reason she didn't explain herself better, so that doesn't matter.
Heve not read that far in the light novels but what i read on forums kinda gives me tje impression that he forgives her to quickly. Apperently one fight plus one talk? If do What? The guy was depressed for for a long time got ptsd and co. Thanks to this it should take far longer to overcome this gab.
@@sargonyami4292 "Heve not read that far in the light novels but what i read on forums kinda gives me tje impression that he forgives her to quickly." No dude. She literally saved him from Orsted. She became the white knight in shining armor saving him in his eyes. Just the fact that she came back to help was enough. And he had gone past the PTSD of her leaving when he married Sylphie.
Eris couldnt have handled that worse, I think we also have to remember that our perspective of situations are alot easier to see because Rudys morality and view of the world has a basis in his past life. Whereas the new world has people seeing everything in a much diffrent light.
I appreciate your work and giving us these very detailed reviews of episodes. You made this show 10x better than what I already thought it was. Thank you and I hope you keep the content up!
I think that the nature of the anime using two different VAs for Rudy and Rudy in his past life, as well as the ability make cut-up sequences invited the adaptation's focus on him as the emotional climax of everything so far. This is a change I can get behind.
That last episode had me screaming 'WHAT THE FUCKKKKKK???????' no way in hell Eris will end up with him. She lost the moment she left. That really broke him.
Bruh I just finished the show and was like - You do know this dude is kinda pervert and you know he kinda had a thing for you as well. Yet you literally just abandoned him after saying you wanted to have a family with him. He ain't gonna stay loyal to ya, and in all likelihood if this wasn't an anime, he'd probably get married to someone else and you two would never see each other again.
In his previous life he was all alone, and now Eris left and again he's back all alone . Regardless of her intentions she should have talked about it before leaving coss now he only thinks he's the one who was wrong. Men are simple creatures sometimes just telling us why is enough.
Yeah... but girls are also creatures that expect men to read the mood and get the why themselves instead of straight speaking out. It's a difficult world.
@@ybenax and that's just stupid!!😂😂 'cuz humans makes stupid decisions in emotional moments regardless their gender!!!! No offence on any girl(I'm also a girl, btw😂😂✌️)
Eris is not just good words and also if you read the novel she thought so highly of Rudeus, she thought he will understand by just reading it and also she's not good in writing too. Also Eris doesn't know what Rudeus past life is, it was an unfortunate and really a "Big Misunderstanding" part for both of them. Ps: SPOILER !!!! Later on Eris will know how devastated Rudeus at that time when she left and felt really sorry, also Eris told to Rudeus she will never leave Rudeus ever again or atleast she will let Rudeus knew were she going.
I am really happy at how this series is going. Mushoku Tensei is one of the first novels I've read and when I finished it, it left me in tears. It had a really fitting ending. Really looking forward to the future seasons of this show.
i can only hope we get a second season of that anime, to me it is the best anime of last year and one of the best anime overall. And if that was 6 LNs and they have 24 for the whole series we only need 3more seasons which could be doable...god i hope this comes
I wanna say they will adapt the whole story because the studio was made specifically to create this anime, which has been successful. More so because the novels are done already. But I can only hope they will indeed adapt everything.
Its still crazy to think that outside of Eris' final decision to leave Rudeus in the hopes of returning as his equal, the anime was able to clearly and consistently display the emotions and thoughts of all the characters even after condensing several light novel volumes into only a few episodes
I've been subbed since your overlord analysis vids 3 years ago and I gotta say this has been my second most looked forward to thing every week after mushoku tensei. Thank you man for all the amazing work, this is your best stuff yet and I'll miss the feeling i get when I see a notification for your mushoku tensei cut content.
This anime is so crazy, it was so hard watching the last episodes, made me so sad, hit me in the feels real bad like no other anime really has before. It's almost to the point where I can't watch it, or think about it because I start crying, emotions man...
im really hoping in the next season they age up rudeus and eris to what they look like in the LN cuz they look near enough identical to how they started off this journey instead of looking like young adults
I think the lack of a growth spurt was meant to reflect how they viewed themselves, rather than realistically depict two adolescents growing over a couple years together. Both thought they had stagnated in their development.
That’s what I was hoping for when I read the books, but she won’t show up until about 20 years later their relationship isn’t developed at all. Next season will see him go to a magic academy where he’ll meet back up with the half elf girl and they married, and she’s pretty boring. He seeks his sisters and mother after the father dies and he reunites with demon tutor girl, and that’s about the only decent action past this season. It sucks after Eris runs off.
@@pillbox1240 why are you just going around spoiling things, and half ass doing it too. Clearly you are upset with the direction that the author decided to take things, but I truly hope nobody gives your opinion a serious thought as you clearly are undervaluing every aspect of the story you are attempting to spoil.
Yeah cutting out most of Eris's reasoning for leaving did hurt her character for anime onlys. I was a little upset they left all that out. I wouldn't have minded a 45 minute season finale if they could have left Eris's parts in and still kept the flashback too.
Having read the light novel and watched the show, I dont think anything that was cut would have made her look better. She is the most damaging character to Rudy in the whole story. He may fear other characters but she fucks him up for years.
@@jonfa10 It was all inadvertent. She hurt him yes, but she honestly didn't mean to. She truly wished to come back to him and marry and start a family with him. The one thing she didn't count on was Rudy misinterpreting her note.
Personally, I assumed it was because she felt useless when I saw the episode anyway (I'm an animeOnly pleb), I don't think seeing her explicitly think "I'll go train up, become worthy, and come back for you" would have changed anything. She still left in a way that made Rudeus think it was all transactional, and made a clean break with a hint of "maybe we'll cross paths someday" that's impossible to see through depression. She had good reasons for leaving, and for not sharing all her plans, but enough of that's already in the anime if you were paying attention to her during their journey back. Which Rudeus was too busy bottling up his own struggles to do.
Freaking love you for doing these man! Thanks so much for filling in the content from source material and creating a cohesive narration to tie it into the anime, it makes the story and whole experience of the anime so much richer. Truly appreciate it and looking forward to seeing more of your awesome creations!
you did a fantastic job reviewing and sharing the cut content man, Im currently rewatching Arifuereta would love to see u review the cut content. But anyways fabulous job with Mushoku, I hope they announce a 2nd season after the special airs in march
Eris felt weak and wants to be the one to protect Rudy no matter what. When she watched him also die it almost broke her deep to her core. She never wanted to be that weak again in her life and she wanted to get strongest enough that something like that could never happen to Rudy agin. But being as thick as she is and bad with words Rudy only seen her leave thinking she did not love him and wanted to find a new path. And Rudy being self logging and self hateing as he always is just instantly seen himself as the problem and allowed his own mind to tare himself apart peice by peice. Eris is very much someone insanely important to Rudy and loseing him at that moment changed him forever. But him finding the strength to move fed and not shut down like his past life just goes to show how much he has grown as a person. He even moved away from his old persona allowing it to die so he can be truely reborn in this world with people he loves and a reason to live with a mission to save his mother. This is what we call a good story and why so many people love this anime. I look fwd to seeing how well they adapt the series.
I think the explanation is kinda redundant. I dunno about the novels but the anime really did portray her inferiority complex rather well. So when I was at the moment when I was thinking with Rudy why she would leave him. I think back the battle on the beach and how she was always trying to catch up ever since. The clincher was she ran away with Ghislaine. She obviously wanted some guidance to become stronger and by having Rudy with her, her growth would only be stifled by his party carry. I think the focus on why his past self would never choose the important step of moving forward despite knowing its the correct choice, really is a far more important thing to look into. Because the pay off on Eris's arc is gonna come. Explaining/foreshadowing that its gonna come is as I said redundant. Instead focus on the important part. Why Rudy kept going where he would have simply given up before. Really show that he wasn't just another OP protagonist that just breezes through the story with OP powers. Show that despite all the good things in his life. He has to go through the hardship of life regardless. And therein lies the real test of his character, because he needs real inner strength to find the meaning in life to keep going forward. Otherwise he would have just kept vegging out, as established by his past life.
I think the anime did a great job of showing that she wanted to leave to get stronger, however i think they should have spent more time showing WHY it is that she wants to get stronger. WHY it is, that she felt like she was taking advantage of Rudeus and WHY it is that she thought she had to go on this journey without him. This video explains that quite well. In the novels multiple complex motivations let her come to the conclusion that she has to leave, because Rudy will leave her anyways or she will just hold him back. In the anime it feels a bit like "I need to get stronger, and i wont be able to with you around." Eris never wanted to be one of the strongest fighters. She was fine with being good at the things she likes and can do, but never had any intention of going beyond that. Eris feels that there is no one beside Rudeus that would ever be romantically interested in her, because there is so little that she can offer (in her mind). She wants to be an equal to Rudy. She wants to stand beside him, without relying on his support.
I don't feel like retyping. So I'm gonna repost. More so she wanted to be strong enough to stand beside him. Strong enough no one could bad mouth her as his wife. She didn't want to take advantage of him anymore.
@@trashokahn1445 I mean just from her characterisation its clear. At first Eris could beat the crap out of him and bully him all she wanted. Then she rescued her from kidnappers and earned her respect. And then later from the rest of her family for being such a capable teacher. And during that time with sword training. She looks on proudly at Rudy for clearly being much better than him at it. Showing she's clearly still able to stand above him. But then the cataclysm happened. And from that point on, she struggles as hard as she could to make that superiority over Rudy into something relevant. But Rudy everytime overshadows her. Right from the start you could tell she has a lot of pride and the moment Rudy showed his ability. She wanted to show him as well as everyone that she was just as capable. You can gain all that from the simple fact that her first introduction showed this competitiveness and pride from the word go. It doesn't really require much mental gymnastics to get that Eris would make this choice. It honestly didn't need to be spelled out constantly. It just her personality throughout. You can tell the depths of her thoughts because she's so straight forward in motivations and goals.
@@ceresbane i recommend you to read the novels since otherwise this discussion isnt going anywhere. If you think that Eris has an inferiority complex and cant handle Rudy being stronger than her and this being the reason that she left you are irgnoring so many facettes of her character.
@@trashokahn1445 I mean its already mentioned in the video and I kinda stick to my point. You can pretty much intuit a large majority of that by just thinking on her archetype and the fact that she's a love interest. None of that needs to be spelled out. Its all self apparent stuff you can just go by conjecture from these 2 facts about her within the context of events that has transpired.
I'll definitely be watching the videos for Arifureta season 2. I had given up hope that season 2 would ever happen, so I was thrilled when they announced season 2 was finally happening
What a great viseo, just as we can always expect from this channel. I adore Mushoku Tensei. It is even tied as my top most favorite light novels series with Shield Hero, Isekai Maou, and......ARIFURETA!!! It felt FANTASTIC for you to call out Arifureta. Please do catch up with Arifureta content. Even the first season never got videos for the cut content past.....what, episode 2? 1? Your skill at presentation and editing would be a great honour to see for another loved anime.
what rudeus wants is literally said by ruijerd "If he is depressed, comfort him", ruijerd never said physically, but the answer is emotionally, after bombardments of scenarios happening at each episode, rudeus needs a friend who will stay beside him in the moments of his depressing moments.
I have to say, the image of Eris in the manga when Rudeus talked about fighting Orstead and obtaining disable magic was so much more powerful. It showed both her fear and disgust, not only of Orstead at that point. But, of Rudeus as well.
@@Yoshida.Kobayashi Because Orstead pretty much destroyed all of her hard work, and his curse made her fear his existence in its entirety, and Rudeus had realized potential ideas to taking care of Orstead before fighting him once more. It was essentially something that she couldn't fully understand from Rudeus' angle, so she feared him for that- at least when he told her about it.
I've been waiting for this. I love mushoku tensei and am excited for more. I don't know if a season 2 has been announced but I hope it will be announced soon and that it would release in a year or fall 2022.
straight ass the best anime content creator out there. So well organized and spoken with 0 fluff. This anime is truly amazing and watching all of these videos makes it even more impactful thank you so much! Can NOT wait for season 2 and the continuation of this TH-cam series 🖤🖤🖤
So her letter didn't have the emotional impact it was suppose to. But Eris wasn't a character with a lot of Depth...at least not until the end of the season. What's kinda sad is they both separated because of misconceptions of each other. 🤔
Well not really. Eris seperated one sidedly. She didn't really have misconceptions. She just wanted to be strong enough to stand beside and be worthy as a woman to be called his wife. There is no misconception that she currently didn't have that kind of strength.
writing letters comes hard for some people, I know I've a hard time just writing a few sentences in a freaking email. But you are right, Eris didn't realise that she a pillar of strength for Rudy as well, just by being by his side.
@@Zergonapal Exactly. That was my biggest gripe with her leaving the way she did. She only thought of herself and how she wanted to be stronger to be equals. But she also knew he was struggling a lot. So to me, it was super selfish of her to not try to understand him better and just leave with auspicious words.
I loved every episode in this series so far, currently on volume 23 of the web novel, and even if ep 23 was great, the 14 page soliloquy by eris at the end of volume 6 not getting properly adapted was the one thing that keeps this from being a perfect 10/10. Its my favorite moment in the series, and i cried reading it, tear up every time. Its what got me to buy the novels. Still loved the anime though.
Thank you. Truly thank you, I was so lost after the ending but now I love the show even more and on top of everything you did not spoil ANYTHING! You are amazing and thank you so much for making this.
Leaving without saying goodbye is such a cruel thing to do...she knew that he has no family left at least at that spot but she did it anyway... She went down quite some points in my eyes after this
Did you find some good WN translations? I get that the WN Translation tries to be as close to the japanase as possible but the constant adressing someone in the 3rd person just sucks me out of the immersion.
Wow 😳 you just gave a new perspective about the show and how lover's behave on their journey of life, Your explanation is so good that it was printed in my mind. If i re-watch this anime, that i am definitely going to remember your words. Such a beautiful explanation you have gave.
True, this is like the only reincarnated story where you can see pieces of his past life. Most of the others just told you how they died and just forget about their past life. Through out anime it shows how his past haunts him.
Its kinds clear she left to get stronger and not be in Rudy's shadow. Although some of the choices she made weren't good the reasons were definitely valid
The cut goblin hunting chapter and it's accompanying content at the pier where Rudy meets his aunt should have been kept. It was also odd they spent a whole episode on the rainy season section as that was much shorter in the LN. The next season won't have as much of an epic journey but will have far more character development and a lot of interesting and important characters to meet. Curious how much their going to lay into Rudy's new "condition".
i always thought that in any film, tv series or anime, if people do talk with each other the correct amount, like 90% of the problem wont happen. eris is another example of it.
I'm super tempted to make this the first LN I pick up. I'm pretty caught up in the manga and even though there are parts that feel too slice of life highschool romcom to me I still liked it. Just not as much as the first part atm. After finishing the anime I'm down to pick back up from where the anime stops but w/the LN.
Mushoku gave me the same breath of fresh air that jujutsu kaisen did. I'm happy to watch these cut content videos because there's so much information cut from the show that is pretty important to be aware of. You do a fantastic job of explaining the feelings and nuances of the manga, and portray it in a way thats extremely engaging. Great work on this season, can't wait for the afureta cut content series as well!
I believe eris did the right move tbh because seeing Rudy die in front of her made her vulnerable remember when she was calling out or saying dad grandpa mom grandma brother sister help please she was scared and traumatized seeing someone she fell for died Basically she did a Goku for example, it’s kinda like how Goku leaves for a while to train but then comes back more powerful
The story is amazing can't wait to see the next series of events get animated, this decision eris chose can only bring consequences to both her and rudy
Ah yes, i love you so im going to leave you unexpectedly with practically no explanation in a way thats incredibly easy to misconstrue as a lack of interest/love. Eris is mad stupid for not thinking this through
Tbh, Eris hasn't yet finished her education. Plus she is more brawns than brains. So it's not really out of character for her not to express herself properly in writing.
I felt the same when i read the chapter of Rudeus POV. But i changed my mind after reading the Eris chapter. This video does a great job, but reading it adds even more complexity. It sucks for Rudeus, but i honeslty dont think Eris had any other choice here.
This show amazed me in so many fucking ways over and over that it made me question several of the only 'great' scenes. Eris leaving definitely gave me the most bitter taste thought because you could understand her reasoning quite easy and it did just feel like a plot point but as this video has provided, there was clearly so much more behind it. Great video, I'm glad to see the emotion of this world being shown as it deserves. Praying the OVA shows this work
This is probably going to be talked about in the next season. This is premium content, and the way they didn’t 100% respect the timeline makes me believe we’ll get episodes from Eris pov like the one Roxy had where they showed her pov of seing dead eye
Eris being afraid she would become a hindrance to the man she loved, without realising that she was the very reason he was able to do the things he did. Him not ever worrying about the future for as long as Eris was inn it, it would be a good one - Kinda sad :(
This is due to his trauma. Rudeus still hasn’t gotten over his insecurity and feeling of worthlessness which, considering his age when he died in Japan, means he likely felt that self loathing for decades. As much progress as he’s made that kind of internal dialogue is really hard to break and often re-emerges during new traumatic events.
Mushoku is THE isekai anime of the year! I've read the light novels and the adaptation is pretty okay in the faithful side of things. The pervert side of the MC is true but I can assure that many that bad mouth it, have not even seen enough of it or read the light novels...
I swear Mushoku Tensei have some of the best character writing I've ever seen not just for an isekai, but in all fictions in general. Some side characters in Mushoku Tensei has more development than most anime MCs
I recently read the manga to clear up some misunderstandings. Quickly found out the anime really wanted you to be in Rudeus shoes and mind, while the manga gave you the point of views of most characters and answered your questions/misunderstandings rather quickly. Still feel super bad for Rudeus in his "E.D." arc....
@@Yoshida.Kobayashi I've read the manga up until the encounter with Badigadi and started reading the light novel. So much content that is not in the manga.
Many ppl think Eris is selfish for leaving Rudy but if u didnt read the manga or light novel u dont understand her reason which are serious ones. Given how hard she works in the coming years it shows just how much Rudy means to her and how loyal she is to him. Spoiler for LN vol 14-15! . . : : : : when u hear from Oldeus what Eris did for him when he went dark was kinda heart wrenching to read. After succumbing to madness in a way she followed him and even ended up saving his life by dying for him. And when Rudy fights Orsted again she comes to the rescue like a gallant knight and finaly joins the family for real. Even though she is more of an "husband" than wife and her libido is quite strong XD"
I'm not that far in, but IMO Eris is best girl, as she literally left him to grow stronger and to not hold him back/over rely on him. Her problem is simply that her tendency/habit of being a bit of a muscle-for-brains type is that she's not a great match on an intellectual level, but she still pursued what path she could find in hopes of being able to do for him what he did for her. That level of thoughtfulness, mixed in with that stoicism just slays me... lol
Sure she had a valid reason and eventually shows her loyalty. But all she had to do was explain her feelings and add that she still saw a future with him. If she only communicated better, both characters could grow on their own and do what they needed to do. But instead she throws Rudy into a pit of despair without considering his feelings at all. Just a one-sided betrayal in Rudeus' eyes. Like cmon at least tryyy to understand him and she might've realized how much support she was for him.
Think of the very first episode that Eris appeared in. Communication is not one of her strengths. It's also worth noting that as the audience, we know a lot of Rudy's internal monologue and feelings, so we know that a lot of the self-confidence that he projects is a sham. She doesn't realize that though, and we don't have the same level of insight into her feelings. Rudy is also pretty bad at communicating.
@@Jdog-tt8qe She was determined to leave and knew that Rudeus would talk her out of it if she had faced Rudy before leaving. The fault is still on her for not being good at communicating, but that is just how her character is. She isn't supposed to be someone who know what others feel at such a young age, nor is she the type to write a lengthy letter to express her thoughts, especially when she is the one who is still struggling to deal with her own issues.
@@Jdog-tt8qe I have to agree with the others that we know more about how Rudy thinks and feels since he also is more mature in terms of age but on the other side felt much pain and suffering in his old life. To Eris Rudy is a beacon of light and person who can do everything thats why she thought the letter was enough. She also knew if she talked to him in person he would follow her which she didnt want. Also on the side note Sylphy is best wife for me because she hold the family together
Ah smart she feared he would end up leaving her so she took the initiative and left him first. Big brain maneuvers right there. Day 20 of asking for a king hassan servant review
I love this channel, not only because the man gives a lot of info about the project he's on, but also doesn't spoil the future like many other channel do
ah i loved this anime more than anything ive seen the past few years. the animation, the plot, the characters uncomparedable to any others. everything was just amazing. and since i was introduced via the anime, Eris's dissapearance was quite foggy to me. you could tell the underlying reason, but not completely. this explained in greater detail as to why she left since i didnt go back through the manga/novel. i cant wait to see the season 2 of this anime, id happily wait years to see anime of this quality reappear to shake the molds once more.
What I like about this channel is that, unlike Foxen, you don't present cut content as being to the anime's detriment. Cut content is simply inherent to adapting a story from a written medium to a visual one. It's more a question of what's cut and how that determines if it's bad. Thankfully, Mushoku Tensei is very good at "show, don't tell", so some of the skipped content can be inferred from facial expressions and choice words. In this case, most of what you explained as Eris' reasoning was what I inferred. She clearly said that she wanted to get stronger, and her letter said that they weren't "well-matched" which I took to mean "well-balanced". Sure, I'd like some of that nuance from her perspective, but her character arc throughout the entire season pretty much backs up her decision.
I think this video was very needed. Thank you, you made me change my vision of the events on the anime and made me change my mind over Eris. After watching the episode I kind of started disliking her, as I thought what she did to Rudeus was very bad on it's own way, but in reality I never saw the emotional weight she was holding on her back; plus, on the anime the letter felt more dry than it seems in the manga. While I imagine Rudeus will be mad at her in the future when they eventually get to meet again, now it makes more sense her vision of him and I'm very excited to see how they forgive each other
Disagree with when she realized she needed to leave, she clearly knew before their intimate moment and wanted to have that before she leaves. She still talks about him as she’s in love and she wants to be with him, she only left because she thought she believed she could never become good enough for him as long as she has him by her side to rely on. She wants to come back to him on an equal level
Thanks for all the support throughout this series everyone!

Well to be honest Rudeus is 40+ years old mentally (if you include his past life) and Eris is only 15 years old. If anything the misunderstanding is 50-50 fault, if not more on the side of Rudeus who should have realised it that Eris had difficulty communicating.

That was stupid because she was a swordsman type while he was just a mage. Regardless, the story doesn’t follow her much at all from this point. Oh, wow. I didn't catch that.
Yeah, wow, that's a small detail I missed too. Love it! Well caught!
Wow...
Okay now I’m crying on my way to work 😭
The thing that got me about Eris’ inner monologue about Rudy was her thinking “His hands are so small and soft.

I think the lack of a growth spurt was meant to reflect how they viewed themselves, rather than realistically depict two adolescents growing over a couple years together. Both thought they had stagnated in their development.
Eh Eris is noticably taller and leaner. Rudy is a bit slower but even he's gotten a little taller. It's not that hard to see.
My biggest question is if they’ll change voice actor for Rudeus since he’ll be older and his voice will clearly be deeper.
That’s what I was hoping for when I read the books, but she won’t show up until about 20 years later their relationship isn’t developed at all. Next season will see him go to a magic academy where he’ll meet back up with the half elf girl and they married, and she’s pretty boring.
I could assume why she did it, and it was well implied when she talked to Ghislaine too. Maybe we'll get something in season 2

This show is a master class on how to adapt literature to a screen.
Welcome back! Your analysis is always on point and heartfelt. It's a joy to have you make content!
This is one of the best videos of cut contents . Thank you . Keep up the great work
You made us wait a while for this didn't you?
In the anime it feels a bit like "I need to get stronger, and i wont be able to with you around."
Eris never wanted to be one of the strongest fighters.
1? Your skill at presentation and editing would be a great honour to see for another loved anime.
i knew a few of her thoughts but you summarized everything perfectly and told us in one Video, now i know her thoughts much better, great Video
what rudeus wants is literally said by ruijerd "If he is depressed, comfort him", ruijerd never said physically, but the answer is emotionally, after bombardments of scenarios happening at each episode, rudeus needs a friend who will stay beside him in the moments of his depressing moments.
And thats exactly what happens in Season 2
omg yessss
I have to say, the image of Eris in the manga when Rudeus talked about fighting Orstead and obtaining disable magic was so much more powerful. It showed both her fear and disgust, not only of Orstead at that point. But, of Rudeus as well.
why would eris be disgusted to rudeus and orsted?
@@Yoshida.Kobayashi Because Orstead pretty much destroyed all of her hard work, and his curse made her fear his existence in its entirety, and Rudeus had realized potential ideas to taking care of Orstead before fighting him once more.
It was essentially something that she couldn't fully understand from Rudeus' angle, so she feared him for that- at least when he told her about it.
@@cptcarlos583 but it's cute when eris kept being silent when she heard that rudy is came from another world hahaha

Holy..... I so needed this. Kudos of explaining EVERYTHING while not even spoiling ahead..gg
So her letter didn't have the emotional impact it was suppose to. But Eris wasn't a character with a lot of Depth...at least not until the end of the season. What's kinda sad is they both separated because of misconceptions of each other. 🤔
read the manga or light novel, this was a wild ride there
Well not really.
So to me, it was super selfish of her to not try to understand him better and just leave with auspicious words.
after all they went through and everything he did for her. he deserved better
God i wish I could rewatch this as if it were the first time. Easily one of the best Isekais to date.
Thanks bro you really just cleared all my doubts and confusion related to it
She went down quite some points in my eyes after this
She literally hit and quit it and I don't like her for it at all. There's ways she could've gone about it.
Bruh . We all watched the episode but missed her point of view . But now what is your excuse now that watched the explanation? Are you stupid ?
Didn't he finish meeting up with his dad and younger sister before leaving? And didn't he also have an encounter with his younger half-sister?
If it doesn't have a goodbye then she plans to meet him again.
@@gloomy9728 I think they meant that he had no family there and so when she left him he was all alone with no family or friends to help him!
Never clicked so fast for a video !
Recently finished vol 14 of the LN and currently reading vol 17 of the WN and goddamn I gotta admit I understand all the hype lmao
Did you find some good WN translations?
I get that the WN Translation tries to be as close to the japanase as possible but the constant adressing someone in the 3rd person just sucks me out of the immersion.
I love this channel. Please, don't leave us behind with a note that you need to get better.
Wow 😳 you just gave a new perspective about the show and how lover's behave on their journey of life,
Your explanation is so good that it was printed in my mind.
Adding this channel as my isekai category. Many thanks for this!
Thanks for this amazing video
The cut goblin hunting chapter and it's accompanying content at the pier where Rudy meets his aunt should have been kept. It was also odd they spent a whole episode on the rainy season section as that was much shorter in the LN. The next season won't have as much of an epic journey but will have far more character development and a lot of interesting and important characters to meet. Curious how much their going to lay into Rudy's new "condition".
i always thought that in any film, tv series or anime, if people do talk with each other the correct amount, like 90% of the problem wont happen. eris is another example of it.
same as real life tho
Great work on this season, can't wait for the afureta cut content series as well!
this is the best isekai, not just stupid op mc, fanservice everywhere, and stupid world bulding, i think its safe to say that this is the best isekai
I believe eris did the right move tbh because seeing Rudy die in front of her made her vulnerable remember when she was calling out or saying dad grandpa mom grandma brother sister help please she was scared and traumatized seeing someone she fell for died
Basically she did a Goku for example, it’s kinda like how Goku leaves for a while to train but then comes back more powerful
Eris is mad stupid for not thinking this through
In some ways, the both of them are still kids, and act accordingly, despite pretty much losing their childhood and innocence.
@@trashokahn1445 it was either that or being sold as a concubine, something Rudeus couldn't protect her from even with his power, so, you are correct
@@TheSpawnfan well there were ways for rudy to do so but it would be a massively different story.
Absolutely, enjoy your take and diagnosis breaking down on the material. Keep it up.
Ahead of the new ep coming out tomorrow, im beyond excited for this new season so much. This final episode was masterclass
Thank you for all this in-depth Mushoku Tensei info AniNews!
And this is why relationships are hard to maintain man
Mushoku is THE isekai anime of the year!
I've read the light novels and the adaptation is pretty okay in the faithful side of things. The pervert side of the MC is true but I can assure that many that bad mouth it, have not even seen enough of it or read the light novels...
This anime is so well made. Its from my 200 watched anime my top 12. So yeah its a S Class anime 💥🔥🤙
I swear Mushoku Tensei have some of the best character writing I've ever seen not just for an isekai, but in all fictions in general. Some side characters in Mushoku Tensei has more development than most anime MCs
The way you spoke on Character development is astonishing. I watch and listen. FAM you don't miss.
I recently read the manga to clear up some misunderstandings. Quickly found out the anime really wanted you to be in Rudeus shoes and mind, while the manga gave you the point of views of most characters and answered your questions/misunderstandings rather quickly. Still feel super bad for Rudeus in his "E.D." arc....
u better read the light novels or web novels first cuz manga skipped the whole arc and lack of details and information
@@Yoshida.Kobayashi I've read the manga up until the encounter with Badigadi and started reading the light novel. So much content that is not in the manga.
@@chronicle325 im for one, am willing to sacrifice some context for pretty pictures
Yeah, the books didn't immediately explained why Eris left, it was after they found themselves again that Eris explained her reasons.
Many ppl think Eris is selfish for leaving Rudy but if u didnt read the manga or light novel u dont understand her reason which are serious ones. Given how hard she works in the coming years it shows just how much Rudy means to her and how loyal she is to him.
Spoiler for LN vol 14-15!

when u hear from Oldeus what Eris did for him when he went dark was kinda heart wrenching to read.
I love this channel, not only because the man gives a lot of info about the project he's on, but also doesn't spoil the future like many other channel do
thank you for this series. i really enjoyed every video.
ah i loved this anime more than anything ive seen the past few years. the animation, the plot, the characters uncomparedable to any others. everything was just amazing. and since i was introduced via the anime, Eris's dissapearance was quite foggy to me. you could tell the underlying reason, but not completely. this explained in greater detail as to why she left since i didnt go back through the manga/novel. i cant wait to see the season 2 of this anime, id happily wait years to see anime of this quality reappear to shake the molds once more.
Love the videos, Please continue to do these when the next season comes out.
4:17 That literal shatter and cut to her defeat was absolutely comical yet heartbreaking 😢
