astrophysics student here, the sun heats us up from far away because it’s freaking massive. way bigger than a fire in a fire place. it also takes a photon, a particle of light, a million years to reach a certain point within the sun due to high pressure, but it does not take a million years to get to us. light also doesn’t dissipate over time, it dissipates over distance.

The sad thing is that I think there is an intelligent conversation to be had here if he only researched the topics that he was talking about and was willing to listen to other peoples' explanations, because several of the questions he had were good ones, but he didn't take the time to actually figure things out rationally before spitting out the first idea that entered his brain. A lack of understanding these topics is what destroyed him, and his unwillingness to search for answers through informational means didn't help. I guess "Google is lying to us."

As someone who studies biology and gets reminded of how science works, and is real ,everyday at school . the way Rebal reacts to this bs it's like music to my ears . It's so nice to see people have actual brain and think in a logic way and respond with actual arguments, it's satisfying.

The sad part is there are so many people out there denying science. And seemingly “normal” people too. It’s also scary that many of these people are even in STEM fields. My brother is a literal ENGINEER and he would constantly call me delusional and a sheeple when he was spewing conspiracies and I tried to explain the science (particularly medical science since my degree is in medical lab science). The worst part is, when you start to make sense they start with personal attacks. I eventually stopped trying to talk any sense into him. But even then he would try to pick fights. It had gotten so toxic that we don’t actually have a relationship anymore.
