just got one over a month ago for wife, replacing her fiat 500. The boot is a lot bigger instantly. hard plastic in cabin but it is common across its' competitors and the price range. we went for the sz5 version and we have no complain at all. being a city car, you can expect it is not that sure footed, given that my daily is a suzuki swift sport. would be great if top spec can include heated and remote folding wing mirrors as standard.
I have a suzuki ignis I absolutely love this car. In the 3 years I've had it I have not had any problems the car has not broken down once . Very reliable little car I love it !!!
Good day everybody , I would like to send you an experience report about my Suzuki Ignis that I bought about 3 years ago. Actually, my wife fell in love with this car. At the beginning I was a bit sketic because it is so small, but when I took a seat for the first time I was amazed at how much space you have inside. There we come to a point where I can not understand some "test drivers", the interior is as you can expect from a small car, nothing more and nothing less. In the front you sit very comfortably and in the back the space is so that 2 people can feel in good hands there. The trunk, on the other hand, is small, as is the case in a small car. The backrests can be folded 50:50 so that you can also load more luggage, and the hardware store also loses its fear if you want to buy something bulky there is of course only room for 2 people. The interior is equipped with a lot of candy lines ex works, so everyone will find what they are looking for. The plastic that is installed in the interior is of good quality and also well installed, since nothing squeaks and rattles. As for the quality, you can say that everything was clean and tidy. The instruments are all easy to read and attached so that you don't have to look for anything and all functions are self-explanatory. The motor has 90 HP and seems a bit sluggish, for my taste, but it is extremely economical. I do not write the factory information as to consumption, my car consumes an average of 6.5 to 7.5 ltr 100 km in mixed traffic on the highway, I made it to 120 km / h to northern Germany (North Sea) 4.5 ltr / 100 km . This is not a joke I once read and calculated by hand, it was right. I am not satisfied with the trailer load of a maximum permissible total weight of 1000 kg because most caravans require 1200 kg. Well, if you don't need it, you have done it yourself. It is always enough for a small trailer for transport. It is also noteworthy that the car has a hill descent aid and a reduction for somewhat difficult terrain. But I would advise against driving in difficult terrain because the ground clearance is more designed for road use, but the chassis easily copes with a bad dirt road. Of course I bought the All Grip because I think if SUV is really SUV. The maintenance costs are extremely low, the workshop works clean and keeps the promised, such as collection from the inspection. Thanks to the small wheels, you don't have to pay a monthly salary if you need new tires. A great car if you are looking for an everyday SUV. But you have to be aware that it is a small car, otherwise you will not be happy with it. Stay healthy sends many greetings from Germany Klaus-Roger Benuar

Testers always complain about the seats not going low enough, whereas I like to sit as high as possible in a car, and I’m six feet tall. Thank god the ignis gives a commanding driving position. Actually I love the way it looks, and if it had the three cylinder turbo and the dual clutch auto I’d buy it. I hate manuals as I just can’t be bothered any more. At present I have a Vitara S auto and I love that to bits, but the same performance in a smaller package would be even better. And it’s not a small SUV, it just a small car, period. I’m sick of all the SUV nonsense. As a small car that’s built high enough to give good visibility and easy access, it’s perfect. Yes, Suzukis are super hardy and go on and on. I had a used 2001 Suzuki Alto that I drove for 6 years - from its 11th to 17th year. It always started in all seasons, and got me everywhere reliably and economically. Once it even got me through a badly flooded road that runs over a huge canal that overflowed. Not a drip of flood water got into it. The little car continued working like a quality Swiss watch. What an amazing vehicle!. My current Suzuki SX4 is another gem I cherish that's spacious, refined, economical and reliable :)
@@theolinchetty2603Thanks. I just bought an suzuki ignis adventure (Topmodel). Its very Amazing to ride with some gangsta rap music in the speakers 😂💪👍🤟
I have an automatic Ignis...absolutely love it. Thus far it's reliable and has excellent fuel economy. Reversing camera is very useful....very good value and just looks so lovely !
The Ignis is a great car. I've have the top spec model in Aus (GLX) for 18 months - can't fault it. Practical, frugal, refined and zippy. Interestingly, the dual port engine is high compression (12.5:1) so 98 fuel is awesome - much better performance.
I own an Ignis as well, but I live in Southeast Asia Sad the Auto box is awful (not my choice), and the rear suspension is jumpier than a kid on a trampoline. But it's a nice little runner, and it looks way way way better than all of its rivals!
@@ilya3379 I've never had a jumpy feeling from the rear in mine - I've found it very solid and stable (and I've owned many cars in my 50 + years). I think they're tuned differently in different markets - that's the only explanation I can think of. The light weight of the Ignis makes it a ripper zipping up hills and the new lightweight high tensile steel platform keeps the car nice and rigid. Cheers.
@@stevesanelli90 Hi. No problems with the phone - Bluetooth. CVT is tuned for good low end pick up so acceleration from stop is good. The CVT can be a little slow to respond from cruising speed but I quickly learnt how to adjust - all autos have quirks. Best to test drive one with these thoughts in mind.
I've lived with this car for 3 years(sz5 4x4), the interior easily wipes clean and still looks like new today, the body roll you mention is not so bad but you are going to get some its 160mm ground clear, the 4x4 is on demand no stopping to push buttons or move levers the traction will brake a slipping wheel hill descent works very well especially in snow, if you wander over the white line without a turn signal on the steering will vibrate and flash on the dash to warn you, collision warning works well when you get the driver who pulls away at a junction then stops, never had any problems in snow at all with standard tyres (which are a pain to find for the 16'' model) its shown 60mpg on the dash on the motorway 50ish round town and only costs me £10 per year road tax, its just hit 3 years old 31/1/20 and cost around £220 for service + mot which I don't think is that bad, you do have to rev it to get it to play but its happy to do so, the hybrid battery is under the passenger seat and is only charged when you let off the gas or ride the brake to slow down then when you pull away the alternator acts as a motor to help the engine simple but it works i'm sure the same motor restarts the engine in the start stop and not the starter motor, on the 4x4 don't think about putting a space saver in the boot its a joke and the car is not too heavy so you do get pushed around a bit from the turbulence from some trucks, 4 adults in it not too bad if you want 5 you bought the wrong car all in all a car I've enjoyed so far.
Great car. In all areas. except. For suspeñsion. good. On. Motorway round our. potholed. roads, terrible. ride sounds. LIke wheels are. Coming. Through. Floor.i. Think. Softer. Tyres. LIke. Avon would help?.a
When I first had mine it was great it would ride over most things but as soon as I put people in the back it would bottom out too easy, Suzuki looked at it and changed the front suspension legs rear shocks and revised bump stops, it now has less roll on corners and you feel the road surface more all good, I have hit a pothole that wouldn't have looked out of place on the moon wow what a noise! But the main thing for me is the car took it, no mark on the rim of wheel no flat tyre and steering still true. It's not an off roader but it is quite tough
I loved my Suzuki SX4, and was very sorry to hear that they are not selling these in the US. Hopefully, they will come back as I would consider buying this
I like hard plastics. They're often harder wearing. I have a 1998 Nissan Micra with a dash that would make most modern reviewers recoil in horror, but it's perfect after all that time. I live in France, and there are loads of examples of the sun causing damage to more "upmarket" soft touch plastics over time. Plus, I don't touch the dash....
Exactly! Too many motoring columnists harp about hard plastics in an economy car! There's nothing wrong with hard and durable plastic. Normal persons don't go around touching the plastics of cars!!! Comfort, economy and reliability are FAR more important qualities in cars. I am impressed by its spirited engine, good handling and refreshing design. It's great fun that makes driving anywhere a pleasure :)
Yeah. Just who jumps into a car and immediately starts fondling the dashboard and centre-console? Unless you're trying to prove some point. If you say switchgear feels mushy and the steering wheel is nasty, I get that. But hard plastics under the dashboard? - who gives a Smeg?
I had ignis in indonesia since 2017 with AGS transmition....manual with computer mimic automatic. Very eficient 17 km/ L. Fast respon aceleration with mode ags manual.
I got a Maruti Suzuki Ignis for my PRECIOUS MOTHER for it's Easy ingress and exit for Senior Citizens. July 2022 with fabulous 1.2K Series Engine in Nexa Blue Color. Called as Urban SUV!
I'm assuming that your reference to 'build quality' actually means 'perceived quality of materials', rather than how well cars are built, for Suzuki and other Japanese and South Korean cars are definitely not wanting in relation to the latter.
Being able to wobble around parts that aren't meant to wobble around is "build quality" in my book. They could be made from the finest materials available, but if they're not screwed/clipped together properly, that's poor build quality. You wouldn't be able to move stuff about like that in my MX-5 nor in a VW Up nor in the Lupo I used to drive a few years back. And all three aren't exactly poster-children for high quality surfaces on the interior. But they are/were built properly.
"Perceived" implies that the quality and feel of materials differs from person to person. If a central piece of the console wobbles like a rotten milk tooth, that's not perceived quality, that's bad quality.
Typical that we here in Australia don't have an AWD option. We only get 2 versions here, both of which are only $2k AUD apart in my state. Main differences between the GL and top spec GLX, are the GLX is CVT only, no manual option, keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, and dusk sensing LED headlights.
i like that it's a super cheap hybrid but a manual gearbox ? come on..no way....i'll add an extra 3-4k and get the proper hybrid from Toyota like Auris old stock or new Corolla.
I had a 2015 i10 for 3 years, the Ignis absolutely KILLS the i10. Easily with Ignis 55-65mpg verse 42-44mpg on i10 on my driving style. Visibility excellent on Ignis terrible on i10. I cannot think of anything on the i10 even comparable. Fair comment rear visibility I’m going to get sensors fitted for £120. Can carry 4 adults any distance in COMFORT, try that in an i10.
@@B33ond the only issue I’ve had is the front carpet has worn through as it’s extremely lightweight drivers footwell. The mats don’t cover the full footwell. Size 12 foot wear to blame. There’s now a 7 year warranty service activated through Suzuki for free when using main dealers. Car looks great
Keep up the great reviews folks :). As a swift sport owner, I'm a bit biased for Suzuki, but I'd see this being bought by the older generation as a perfect car for having "4 wheel drive" for less than ideal road/weather conditions. Either way, nippy/practical small cars for the win. While they are at it, bring back the 4 wheel drive dihatsu's and starlet GT's as well please :D
Who said anything about a G-class? He was comparing it to the Kia Picanto and VW Up. Don't know about the current Picanto, but in the Up you wouldn't be able to wiggle large chunks of the dash/console around like that and most of the materials used do look and feel a class above its rather low MSRP. It's no secret that the Up is (was :( ) considered the class leader among super-minis - and from my experience, it deserved that title.
Mini cooper founder name is Sir Alec issigonis. Is name ignis related to Issigonis? But the purpose he made mini is to create cheap small good gasoline cunsumption car. Same with my ignis. I use this ignis in indonesia petrol tipe since 2018 that use AGS matic transmition that actualy manual transmition with computer so has only two pedal. Very valueble money car with price same as the cheapest toyota or daihatsu car in indonesia we get the Nexa car branded from suzuki in india. Imported to indonesia. Very top in gasoline consumption in indonesia 17 km/ L in trafic jam, quiet car , good looking exterior and nice interior design, we get extrem Air conditioner panel, LCD monitor music player JVC. I like using AGS transmition we can use manual that can fast aceleration in city and use automatic mode in highway. In maintanance fee and oil is 1/ 3 daihatsu or toyota. Body plat ignis is so thick, more thick than the highest price Toyota car Fortuner SUV. Ground clearence is high so match with the majority bad road in my country. Before i use Daihatsu Sirion hathback low ground clearance that often body repair because road condition. Now i had driven 40.000 km since 2018.
I don't like reviews on budget vehicles because they are too critical and expect large vehicle features. This is a great car. I own a Suzuki and won't go back to any other brand due to Suzukis' affordability and reliability.
Thanks for this video I was going to buy a Suzuki Ignis I thought I had decided after watching this it's back to the drawing board I think my second choice might need another look thanks for highlighting the failures with this car looks great but I like a nice drive Regards
In areas where you have to touch it in order to drive it is very nice, the higher trim that I have has "leather" steering wheel and the touchscreen & buttons are ok to touch. The low fuel consumption is amazing. I didn't try the AWD system to the fullest because I only did city /highway driving so far, but it helped me a lot while reversing on narrow switchbacks (to make room for the cars that were going up on the road) on bad surfaces/almost no tarmac. All in all a very fun/funky little car :)
Dear Doug need to know how can i acquire the exhaust manifold heat shield and spark plug cover bracket. Please make a video on the same as it is not available in the indian version.Pls find out the reason
I drove one a while back for a day. Loved the styling. Personally, having also driven the swift I think that's what I'd buy. Similar prices, but a more conventional design that I found more comfortable as the Ignis has an intrusive centre console that my left leg rattled against whilst driving. Yes, it does feel a bit cheap. It's also 14 grand fully equipped with niceties like automatic breaking, all wheel drive, hybrid engine and so on.
Very nice review. Thank you. I'm actually looking for a new car since my old subaru justy g3x got too rusty to go on without massive repairs. That car has a very similar shape. Does someone know how this ignis 4x4 compares to the good old justy g3x? I live in a snowy mountain, so 4x4 is essential for me for driving on snow and some forest roads (no real off-road). Also, I'm a bit sad that this hybrid is very very mild. I wanted something a bit electric for once. What does that mean, in fact? It's the kind that switches to combustion engine above 40 km/h? Or does the combustion engine run all the time?
I use it in a moutain that's snowy for 3 to 5 months a years, it's really great even in the worst of times -handling and performance wise- but it does eat a little more fuel in these conditions, around 6,5 to 7L/100km. It's a mild hybrid, meaning that the electric motor pushes the car when starting and also accelerating, but not while cruising around 100% of the time.
Hello...i am proud owner of ignis here in India. Thanks for the beautiful vdo.Could you please help me in knowing how do i order the spark plug cover plastic and also the exhaust manifold metal guard.
That is the third generation Ignis, and a great design. Pity Suzuki wont bring some of their more wacky Japanese models to Europe like the Lapin and Hustler.
Having checked all sorts of reliability-/breakdown-databases on small cars, I can definitively rule out ever buying a Dacia. Doesn't matter that it's cheap or, in the case of the Duster, a class above the Ignis. Sadly, this Suzuki doesn't appear in any of the surveys yet since it hasn't been on the market that long. And its no use looking at other Suzuki models, since the Swift seems to be pretty unreliable, while the Vitara seems to be doing rather well. What I will say about the Ignis is that it seems to be holding its value pretty well for a small, simple car from a not-very-glamorous manufacturer.
Performance reviews useful if done with a full load (use sand bags?). Suzuki Ignis had a problem with suspension, rectified only after I complained about it, new front and rear shock absorbers and different bump stops fitted.
@@louisbeerreviews8964 ・・・(google translate) Ignis in Japan is CVT only, MT cannot be selected. Therefore, it is enviable that MT Ignis exists overseas.
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Cars are still designed with this in mind. The alignment specs, especially caster, will be set up for king pin inclination. This is what gives the steering a self centering action. Its been done for a very long time now
Kieran Martin As Theolin said, the Ignis is solely intended for on-road. If you’re not impressed with the Jimny’s on-road capability, you may want a used 4x4 from something like Jeep.
ive seen it on the road and with the special livery options it looks playfull and nice. but once you started talking about the inside... well lets just not.
Toyota makes reliable boring car for most part Suzuki well they are reliable but what I know from the past few years is that I find Suzuki is the cute little car😂. It's not a bad thing either. Maybe I'll be using this as a daily driver just for the MPG and for the fun of having a stick shift while having great MPG or KPL (kilometers per liter)
The display on the infotainment unit is faulty - the right hand side of it has massive colour distortion (Maybe due to heat damage?) Not encouraging at all.
I live in Southeast Asia and I definitely love my Ignis despite its (many, many) flaws. If I were in the UK though I'd probably stay away from it and prooobably would've bought an Up, Twingo, or Aygo!
Having just checked reliability-/breakdown statistics from the German TÜV and ADAC, I would rather eat the money than buy a Dacia. Across both statistics, all of Dacia's models are consistently among the bottom 10 or even bottom 5, no matter what age group/model years you look at. Save a few 1000 Euros/GBP when you buy, spend lots and lots of money and time on repair cost and breakdowns.
Well you must have used a very biased German statistic source as the Dacia is very robust and more reliable than most useless german cars like Audi/BMW/Merc...and they come fully fitted with little orange indicator lights for use when you require to change lanes or turn off onto another road..never seem to be fitted to your german cars!! Must be the arrogance factor!
You underestimate these new small cars. Theyre not just city cars ...they can do anything... Ive taken my kia rio on long trips..it loves it. Gives around 50 mpg on the open road.. Years ago when I was a kid, my Uncle and Aunt took me and my cousin from Adelaide to Melbourne in an Austin Cambridge...no problems. In Italy Ive seen little Fiats towing giant caravans. Cars can do anything if you use a bit of common sense.
I imagine the people responsible for the original designs and concept of SUV are rolling in their graves these days, what with all the glorified family sedans and hatchbacks that have corrupted the idea of what an SUV meant back then.
What do you think of the Suzuki Ignis? Let us know in the comments below!

My current Suzuki SX4 is another gem I cherish that's spacious, refined, economical and reliable :)

The Ignis is a great car. I've have the top spec model in Aus (GLX) for 18 months - can't fault it. Practical, frugal, refined and zippy. Interestingly, the dual port engine is high compression (12.5:1) so 98 fuel is awesome - much better performance.
I own an Ignis as well, but I live in Southeast Asia
Sad the Auto box is awful (not my choice), and the rear suspension is jumpier than a kid on a trampoline.
Cheers.
@@GregTyson Yeah probably cheaper components for the Southeast Asian market.
Cheers as well!
@Greg Tyson Greg, have you had phone dropouts through the radio head unit? Is the CVT auto ok? City car useable?
Dave Bass Man what are the reviewers doing touching everything anyway.? Are they making love or something?

@@1SaG I see, so it was your 'perceived quality of materials' as I suspected, thanks for confirming.
"Perceived" implies that the quality and feel of materials differs from person to person. If a central piece of the console wobbles like a rotten milk tooth, that's not perceived quality, that's bad quality.
@@Daumex Central console doesnot vibrate.
Ingis 2020. I've got a 2017 Ingis svhd. I cannot see any difference lol. I got 67mpg on a 600 mile trip mostly driving on the motorway.

Could this be seen as an upgrade manufacturing wise from the Wagon R?
Love the exterior of this car! I just feel like the lack of detail and design in the interior leans me more to the Hyundai i10
What's with the infotainment screen? The sides look ruined.
It's a cheap what u were expecting a G class

Now i had driven 40.000 km since 2018.
I don't like reviews on budget vehicles because they are too critical and expect large vehicle features. This is a great car. I own a Suzuki and won't go back to any other brand due to Suzukis' affordability and reliability.
Can you explain about this rear seat more? I'm Intrigued by the extra seat and how that works

Who touches up their car? Don't care if it has hard plastics or soft material.

Why are you doing a 2021 Suzuki review using a 2018 model?
Pity this model didn't come to Oz, I would have got one as soon as it arrived.
It rattle minimal.
Dear Pal please can you help me with the cover over the exhaust manifold for my ignis in India.
People logic.
Ignis price with quality of Bentley continental-GT.
Duh...!
Has anyone seen a review of the "automatic" (I use the inverted commas advisedly). If so please let me know. Why don't UK reviewers ever do this?
Would this be a suitable car for a 6ft person? Not sure if it’s a suv or hatchback sized car?
They say they dont come with spare tire? Is that true?
Hi, Do you know if the Hybrid Ignis will come to Mexico soon??

That is the third generation Ignis, and a great design. Pity Suzuki wont bring some of their more wacky Japanese models to Europe like the Lapin and Hustler.
Which country this ignis available
This model is not available in india...🙏🙏🙏
I think I have seen you in the Autocar India video of Kwid (Delhi to Paris).
Oh dear the arrogance has risen it`s head yet again!
Performance reviews useful if done with a full load (use sand bags?). Suzuki Ignis had a problem with suspension, rectified only after I complained about it, new front and rear shock absorbers and different bump stops fitted.

Do steering come back to center after turning. Do we need to manually steer back to center
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Cars are still designed with this in mind. The alignment specs, especially caster, will be set up for king pin inclination. This is what gives the steering a self centering action. Its been done for a very long time now

We just got a 2020 Suzuki Ignis. It is missing the engine cover underneath and you can see the road when you open the hood. Does yours have this part?
the Suzuki Ignis does not come with a plastic engine cover - only the Boosterjet engines. The 3 cylinder (turbo) swift gets an engine cover.
Hey! I’ve been cross shopping the Ignis with the Jimny; how does the ignis do off-road?
The ignis is not meant for offroad but allroad is meant for like dusty roads or like a snowy day not meant for hard core offroad
Kieran Martin As Theolin said, the Ignis is solely intended for on-road. If you’re not impressed with the Jimny’s on-road capability, you may want a used 4x4 from something like Jeep.

Suzuki well they are reliable but what I know from the past few years is that I find Suzuki is the cute little car😂.

That was because the camera was not central to the display should have been at right angles to the glass display.
I live in Southeast Asia and I definitely love my Ignis despite its (many, many) flaws. If I were in the UK though I'd probably stay away from it and prooobably would've bought an Up, Twingo, or Aygo!
What are it's flaws?
Wish the Ignis was sold in my country.

How come the ignis is classified as a SUV? It is a city car at best.
It has also been called a crossover.
This is due to the boxy aesthetics, relatively high ride height and available all wheel drive.
