  • We did some clutching to improve the performance of the 2009 Ski-Doo Rev XP MXZ X 600 e-tec with Back Yard Recreation in Ayr Ontario Canada.
    Learn how a primary clutch TRA clutch works, clickers, helix, and spring and what affect they have on your snowmobile performance. We have been snowmobiling on this clutch set-up for 1 season and have been dialing it in throughout the winter.
    Secondary 600 e-tec Clutching for More Power:
    We replaced the stock 48 degree Helix with a 43/47 degree helix. My local ski-doo BRP dealer would not sell me a helix direct so I found the NOS on ebay for about $100
    Primary 600 e-tec Clutching for Max Power:
    The stock primary spring is a blue/blue 130lb/290lb which had clutch engagement at around 3400RPM. We replace the stock spring with a Purple/Blue 160lb/290lb Spring which raised engagement to aroun 3800-4000rpm. We ordered the spring from my local ski-doo Dealer (PN# 415034900). The spring was about $30 in Canada if I recall.
    We have set our clickers down to 1 and future plan is to add a weighted pin kit to the primary rollers to keep it in the RPM to add 1/2 to 1 gram weight as it still seems a bit light and have hit the Rev Limit on rare occassion.

    @ mud Brats ADV when you put the primary back on the crank do you have to line anything up? On some videos I've seen the crank had a white line and they lined up one of the marks on the primary. My 2013 800 ETEC doesn't have a white line on the crank, but if I look very closely it does seem to have a fain scribe line.

    • @mudbrats
      @mudbrats  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes there is a line machined into the clutches to line up

    Great video! I am rebuilding my TRA 3 clutch on my 2016 600 etec. I can't seem to find the torque spec anywhere for the main bolt on the primary... do you know what it is? The manual only mentions the secondary adjustment allen key and the adjustment nut on the primary for positions 1-6 at 89 ft/lbs? Thanks if you can answer!

    • @mudbrats
      @mudbrats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think 89ft lbs what oem spec os for the main bolt . you dont need anything more than that

    Getting into lake cross with my 06 GSX 600 and Im not so much worried about peak rpm, I want the sled to pull harder on the way up, but not too much, because I still ride trails. Would this be done by changing the secondary helix? or can I adjust this with quick clickers and or weights in the roller arm pin?

    • @mudbrats
      @mudbrats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you need helix, springs and then add weights and clickers its a package. Call straightline performance they will set u up with the proper kit

    I have a racing clutch in my rz6000. The spring is a 170 / 330 and I have 60g notched cams. can I switch my cams to unnotched cams and maybe the spring too, so engagement won't be so harsh?

    i had my Skidoo clutch spring modifyed for stronger, but its not reving where i want it to take off... can i just drop a stronger spring in or it will afect my top end RPM also ?

    • @mudbrats
      @mudbrats  ปีที่แล้ว

      which clutch, primary or secondary? and is it revving too high or not high enough?

      @@mudbrats Primary: y had to lurn about sled clutch lol so now i know that i had a 100/290 spring and he put a 160/290 it raise about 3500rpm to 4500, next springs is 200/290 so i guess it will take off around 5000rpm So i ask for the 230/320 and i will add 2-4 grams in my roller cuz of the 320 remplacement from 290 spring... That shoul take off :)

    • @mudbrats
      @mudbrats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WolfPackRacing315 That was my wrong doing... I originally thought the Helix and spring were both for the secondary, but the spring was primary and helix for secondary. Adam pulls the apring out of the box and I cut out thew part where we discover it is for the primary -We fired the orignal spring in the secondary with the new helix and I cut that all out but may left some confusion
