  • Ski-Doo Ambassador Dave Norona takes us through cleaning the clutch/CVT area, removing belt and cleaning it and installing it back onto the machine and adjusting it. The Belt Bottom Grove should sit above the top of the Secondary Sheaves and the cord is near the top of them. Please put your comments below and like and subscribe!
    *** Important, DO NOT USE SC1 as in the spray that coats a greasy film to make plastics look good, it is an error in my wording. You want to use S1 XPS clutch cleaner or a high quality brake cleaner that leaves no residue! Thanks

    Skidoo did a great job with the entire clutch system. Dave, your right on being ocd with the clutch cleaning as it will pay you back in performance and clutch/belt longevity-good job!

    My clutches get pulled and cleaned thoroughly every summer, bushings and rollers are checked, and springs replaced if needed.
    Belt area is blown out every few rides, you wouldn't believe how much belt dust comes out of the clutch and QRS jack shaft.

    Did you get your favorite 175 expert as well this year?

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it works very well, no unfortunately no 175 in freeride or summit x, and those are the sleds I am riding as they are the easiest sleds to ride in the line up!

    • @scarpachi01
      @scarpachi01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaveNorona I see. So, you like the flex edge and t motion and didn't want to run the new setup in the expert?

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scarpachi01 Yes after riding both I chose the best riding machine for me, and I could side hill them both the same but the t-motion x and flex edge are easier to initiate when conditions are less than ideal. cheers dave

    I think you had loosen/tighten backwards when explaining adjusting belt deflection.

    All sell you my toe holds since you are so set on them. Foot will never get caught in them WORNG and 8 weeks recovery after surgery and a leg and ankle full of metal. Mines well but a seat belt on the sled to lol

      @DaveNorona  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      which sled and toe holds adjustable or rigid, sorry to hear,

  • @tjaselin
    @tjaselin ปีที่แล้ว

    can all your videos apply to gen 5 trail sleds too?

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not own any trails sleds unfortunately nor do I base my info off any of them, so best to touch base with the Ski-Doo Trail Ambassadors as they will give you the right info you need. cheers dave

  • @shperax
    @shperax ปีที่แล้ว

    Doesn't the manual tell you to have the track up and run the sled after each adjustment?

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว

      Might do, never read it, rolling the sled forward is doing the exact same thing, under pressure since skid is on the gound. I have done this for a long time, its not a science, but a simple adjustment to make it work well. If I was going up jackson for the win, i would be more precise, but I am far from that so...this is good enough for me. cheers dave

    Belt deflection on my Gen 5 turbo was set incredibly loose by the dealer - it was FAR out of spec. Don't trust the dealer, inspect yourself.

    You certainly do not want sc1 on the clutch surfaces, it’s basically a spray wax. Brake cleaner is the way to go.

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I put an update in the comments but it has moved down, so placed one in the description, S1 XPS or a good brake cleaner, thanks

    • @DaveNorona

      Here is a quote I just pulled off of snow and mud in the comments "I'll stick with the stock belt, don't need any "if you had stock BRP belt you would not have these gouges on clutches" argument. Noth worth penny-pinching over $100 difference in a belt. I had 2700 km on my G4 turbo on original belt." Easily get more than 2000km as well but when I notice a performance drop, I change it out as I ride lots of deep deep pow!!

      @danteblack9873 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well shiiiit that’s frickin nuts I’ve got 3300 kms on my xrs 800. And have gone thru like 5 belts no bs. And all brp belts.

    • @DaveNorona
      @DaveNorona  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danteblack9873 something is up, should be getting that on one belt, cleaning it? checking it? Breaking it in properly?

    • @danteblack9873
      @danteblack9873 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx for getting back to me Dave sorry for coming off as rude. Yes proper break in at least 50kms. I can be cleaning it more often that I can improve on. And sled has been serviced by a skidoo dealer. Very first belt I blew I was going full speed caused me to flip the sled 100 plus miles an hour. Wasn’t fun. Still have the xrs but picked up the new Gen 5 freeride
