Great topic. I love to see one that goes even deeper. I was hoping they could speak to the inspection of the different bushings and what's acceptable, shimming of the primary to the belt. ect.
Man, these videos are awesome. I’m just getting into sledding after riding dirt bikes my whole life, and there’s so much to learn! All of your videos are super helpful.
The profile on both the top of the weight where it pushes against the roller and the belly is the culprit in 2 of the same gram weights acting different. The belly profile is pretty self explanatory as it gives an indication of where the weight is distributed on the arm, but the profile on top is often overlooked.
Awesome! Now we need specific videos for primary maintenance and secondary maintenance. I am especially interested in exactly what wear items need to replaced in the clutches and at what mileage. I know the OEM's have their recommendations but we see failures before then. I have been dealing with an on and off throttle bog in my 19 850 Pro RMK. Tired of adjusting my belt deflection twice a ride.
I hear about this chalking of the clutches. I hear about this and how to tell if you are getting full shift rate and performance from the clutches. Also how to adjust if you are not obtaining the full shift rate. Great videos!
Hey guys, when I was kid our Dad bought us a 1970 skidoo Olympic with 12hp Rotax , 35mph top speed. The clutch would engage right off an idle, so no power for any kind of a hole shot. Maybe with modern components, and higher final drive in the chain case we could have made it do 55mph. After that I had a Scorpion super Stinger, and a Arctic cat Puma, all the same story, no RPMS, for launche....hehe...
My head is spinning with all this info, being a new diy sled rider. Lol I never had the money or place to ride now I can and have a 02 xedge 700 ves. It’s a great sled fast! What do I need to know on this sled with clutching and things? I know little to nothing on this topic.. I want to rebuild my clutch, or replace it. Have no idea how to get the belt off let alone work with the clutch. I was told it doesn’t take a clutch spreading tool. I need help, any and all would be great! Thank you guys for the content awesome very thorough!
Replacing primary spring every 500 miles is super conservative. Unless your spring has plastic deformation (permanent damage) or a physical crack, there should be no reason why that spring is losing strength after 500 miles. I'd say inspect every 500 miles and replace as needed. Great video by this team, though. 1g per 1000' is spot on for the 800/850 guys.
I have a racing clutch in my rz6000. The spring is a 170 / 330 and I have 60g notched cams. can I switch my cams to unnotched cams and maybe the spring too, so engagement won't be so harsh?
I don’t really know but based on what they said in the video I would bet that inspecting the clutches and replacing worn parts would be a good place to start.
Can you talk about characteristics of the sled? as the typical characteristic of brp with extreme bottom. or Arctic with zero bottom but good power at the top...
Klim is a sponsor of mine and yes they do help me do what I do. The expense of cinematography can be pretty overwhelming so having assistance from a number of our partners is helpful. 👍
See if I got this right: if the primary spring is worn is very "jumpy" and agressive and not smooth when taking off? My sled does exactly that. Are there any other sled behavior I should look out for?
I heard a lot of gibberish and none specific hyperbole from the short guy. The taller guy was several notches truer to form. This is the difference between a salesman and an expert.
"only change one thing at a time" -- damn good advice.
Love it. I was just watching the old video, thinking "I wish this was more in depth." Thank you Dan and the whole team for putting out these videos!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jared Session is the best. Love to see more from Jared and Sled specialists like him.
For sure, he's a wizard
It would be cool to see Dan's preferred set up and an explanation why he chooses that as the go to option.
We have to keep some secrets :)
@@NextLevelRidingClinics Kurt Freddie knows a thing or 2! lol
Can you please do an in-depth video about how to clean your clutches properly? Thanks Dan! Great content keep it coming!

Good video - nice to have the details, even though I can't afford fast and powerful sleds it is always good to learn. Very interesting, helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome work Dan, this video was super helpfully. Keep em comin!
Thanks! Will do!

Thank you for explaining the components and how each part works in conjunction with each other.
You are welcome! Thanks for watching
Thanks Dan for the next level info. All three of you men help me alot with this one... GREAT JOB GUYS !!!!

Thats a great idea for a future video. Thank you
Dan! Plz make a video about changing out weights and springs from the secondary and the primary!
Awesome info. Looking to get a softer engagement for the rzr 800. Given to my pops but engages too hard for him
Excellent video! Lots of good info to consider. Thank you!
Great video Dan 👍
Thanks Kevin

Great videos!
For sure, there are so many tricks to clutch tuning. We couldn't get them all in this video.
Great job on this video Dan.
Glad you enjoyed it
Also, inspect the rollers that the clutch weights contact! a flat spot in a roller can cause problems quickly!

I've been thinking about doing something to improve my clutches . But no idea where to start. Now I have an idea. Thanks.
Glad to help
My skidoo it takes me about 1 minute to adjust it up or down 200 rpm.. and I love that.. less than a minute..

wheres part one? i searched your channel for "clutch tuning" and this was the only one.
Supposed to be 6 ft apart!! Haha Kidding! Great vid!!!
Right?!
i run bmp goldstar weights and they are so easy to adjust, just throw in a little magnet and call it a day lol.
Thats really cool. You can't beat the adjustability of the aftermarket weights.

How can i know, as a secondary sled owner make sure my clutches are good without paying for service?
Do you have any advice for what to get to put one a 2021 Polaris Titan for attachments and it would be a work/ trail sled
Sorry we aren't too familiar with that machine.
@@NextLevelRidingClinics ok

2001 polaris 550F, what needs to be done to make the clutch engage sooner, seems like the RPM is quite high before it moves the sled
Go to a lighter initial weight on the primary spring.
Amazing video 🤯🤯🤯
Thank you 🙌
So I won't to change clutching in 280 lbs I have a 21 850 khaos I ride in alaska what should I get help
What rpm are we looking for HP or Torque?
what if my sled doesn't go up a hill. could that be a clutch problem
Great video love seeing all your content and informative videos .. great stuff
Interested video , learn a lot. Recommandation use mic for sound. Tks
We typically use a lav mic but for this episode with three people we used a shotgun mic. Thanks for the feedback.
How do you tune older clutches, I have a 98 powder special and I don't know how to tune them..
I don’t really know but based on what they said in the video I would bet that inspecting the clutches and replacing worn parts would be a good place to start.
Much of what is talked about in this video applies to any CVT clutched machine, new or old
Can you talk about characteristics of the sled? as the typical characteristic of brp with extreme bottom. or Arctic with zero bottom but good power at the top...

Do you think Klim sponsored this video? 😁

DUSTIN!!
It took me no time at all with my skidoo to find that sweet spot were it kicks ass...upshot backshift its right there.. thanks skidoo..
Cool story.
Great Video... Hey Dan.... Imagine if a guy named Jared Sessions was on a Live Show called Snowmobile Sessions? hint hint
haha thats a great idea. We need to have Jared on here more often, he is a wealth of information.
@@NextLevelRidingClinics Hook a buddy up will ya? He is great
Is skidoo the only one u can adjust in less than 30 seconds with a twist of a Allen wrench..

Your first every week, we have to applaud your dedication.
its hard to listen/take advice to/from the guy who says he replaces primary spring every 250 fucking miles.
Change your primary spring EVERY 250 MILES!!?!?!?!?!??!? You sir, ARE MAD!!!
How bout some realistic advise for us non-racers?
Jared isn't a racer really, rather a very aggressive mountain rider that likes very huh horsepower
The point is you have to keep an eye on it. The primary spring is a wear item.
