Thanks for the gread video but I was wondering how you could fit those sleeves to thick shocks like the Galant. Do I need to shave it off with a grinder? The shock body I mean.
$35? That just seems ridiculously cheap, for most cars individual springs cost more than that. You know companies like Ground Control sell and other kits that look exactly like this for $400-$600 or more, and people use them on much more expensive cars that they even take on road courses. They work just fine and can last a very long time even under extreme conditions. As long as the shock and spring rates are a good match, what exactly is the problem with this as opposed to a "real coilover"? I guess it depends on the situation, but if you aren't trying to slam a car and just want a slight height adjustment and the ability to corner balance, and you have a really good OEM adjustable shock that you would like to keep, this type of setup is perfectly acceptable in my opinion.
Would you mind posting a link to the ebay ones you bought ? I'm trying to do the same on an 03 Jetta on the cheap and havent found as complete of a kit for that kind of price... Thanks and still miss your Orange Rocket !

I'm used to motor work and tranny work and lifting trucks not lowering cars lol I saw a other video of these being installed and the guy started low kept going up up and up and the ride height stayed low didnt changeso I was wondering if these are a set height and that adjustment is actually just a damper adjustment? Crazy far fetched but possible? Any help is appreciated it's my daily and I cant keep driving the lifted suburban on 38s every day lol
You need to either shorten your shocks or find inserts from another car that fit the sleeve. The insert diameters are pretty standard. They only come in 2 inch, 2 and a quarter and 2 and a half inches and every car brand uses those standard sizes. The strut towers are different for all car brands but the shocks they put in them is all standard stuff. Now find some that are shorter from factory and are the same diameter. You are driving with the shocks completely compressed. On bumps you bottom out and when you go over hills the shocks push the car up out of the springs and when it comes down it bottoms out again. For my 73 bmw e12 nobody makes any coilovers or standard lowering kits so i used a similar system to make my own. mine was weld on instead of aluminium but the rest is pretty much the same. Anyway i shortened the struts by 8cm and used billstein b6 shock inserts from an 90's audi coupe. They are shorter so the lowering is not done by compressing the shockabsorber more at rest and giving up compression travel but by lowering the entire shock lower into the strut. And now they sit right in the middle where they belong when the car stands still. I still have all the compression travel as well as the outbound travel now. Actually a little more both ways since the audi shocks come with a few mm more travel from factory. Things like these can be really useful to fabricate something that is not for sale. But they are a horrible money saving tools. If you do it properly it costs the same as just buying a decent set outright. And if you don't do it properly the car will drive like shit and your shocks will destroy themselves within 6 months anyway. At which point you have to buy new ones anyway. Not to mention that the car becomes dangerous in some circumstances.
ThizzleKid420 I don’t like anything newer than 2000 I’m a 88-00 any of them years to me are the best years. Parts are cheap and easy to find, light weight and I like the body styling of the 92-00 sedans but I’d own another ef hatch the 88-91 if I didn’t have 4 kids lol I have to buckle 2 of them up and it’s a pain to do as is with 3 car seats -_-
James D guy oh okay cool bro i like the 6th gens body style to. Me personally i love my 7th gen i like the way they look the 4 doors. I got 3 kids to so i know how that goes. I had to sell my 03 ranger to buy my 7th gen.

Ngo-Ta Ara Thank you and I sold the car but it started riding rough so I took the metal aluminum upper peace I drilled a hole in I took that out once I took that metal aluminum piece out it Road perfect I sold the car for over $3000 believe it or not someone wanted it that bad with the way it was built. It Road really good just do not install that little aluminum piece with a hole in it. For the best ride comfort
They are still currently ride good but skip the top metal piece step and toss it in the trash. It rode worse with it on. I’m talking about the thing that I drilled the hole bigger on. It still rides great 👍🏻 sold the car but been updated
Stacy Pfingsten thanks. I’m actually going to sell these to my buddy. Only because the adjustability isn’t high enough for these big tires ima throw cut springs on haha ride way smoother on cut springs believe it or not. But I figured I’d do a video anyways
Jimal Martin had this issue and it was the little metal stopper that was the issue. It needs to go on before the top hat. It has a beveled edge on it. Its not a normal washer. I had that issue though was a easy fix
Another way is to use hose clamps around the coils to hold them, user beware! Good deal on the springs, they want around 20 bucks just for a spanner wrench.
QQTrick1QQ there is another way safer method I forgot to show. But basically while the car is still on the ground not jacked up or anything, remove the 14mm nut and jack the car up it slowly decompress as the car lifts up
Question i got a set for my 2002 Honda Accord off eBay but i notice that they sent me with 2 that is shorter than the other 2... are the 2 shorter ones for the back or front strut...?
I think they are provided to give users options because shock absorber housing differs in outside diameters. Thicker one will fit smaller outside diameter while the thinnest one would fit those larger shock absorber housing

And if you don't do it properly the car will drive like shit and your shocks will destroy themselves within 6 months anyway. At which point you have to buy new ones anyway.
Not to mention that the car becomes dangerous in some circumstances.
Would I HAVE to put the top metal hats on the rear for it not to be too bouncy or jumpy ?? And also the thinner springs go in the back correct?
Great video! You got a new subscriber.
Thank you! I appreciate it. I promise my content is only getting better
Ok so can i use my stock shocks and put coilover sleeves?
Ya that's what he did in the video
Hutch ks that’s dope af
Manny Alvarez I don’t live there anymore I moved to the great state of Texas 💪🏻
Nice video bro. I was wondering how these coil overs were. I might get me a pair for my 7th gen! I was just curious why did you go with a 6th gen ?
ThizzleKid420 I don’t like anything newer than 2000 I’m a 88-00 any of them years to me are the best years. Parts are cheap and easy to find, light weight and I like the body styling of the 92-00 sedans but I’d own another ef hatch the 88-91 if I didn’t have 4 kids lol I have to buckle 2 of them up and it’s a pain to do as is with 3 car seats -_-
ThizzleKid420 the silver top hats I wouldn’t install them I actually took mine out it’s made it feel like it was bottom out when it wasn’t
James D guy oh okay cool bro i like the 6th gens body style to. Me personally i love my 7th gen i like the way they look the 4 doors. I got 3 kids to so i know how that goes. I had to sell my 03 ranger to buy my 7th gen.
James D guy Okay thanks bro good to know. I am tired of driving a monster truck haha.
The ones I bought come with 2 different size springs but I can’t figure out which goes in the front or rear? Two of the springs have tighter coils than the other
It's a poor man's garage style, can't complain on that. I'll slam my Honda city z 2000 thanks to you.
What are the feelings of riding them? Can they be driven every day?
So I ordered a set of these and they didn't come with the o-rings is there anything I can do to get around it
Why did you put in your description not to install the metal top hats ?
xxnoobtuberproxx I decided to take them out and the ride quality improved so much!
Great video man
Hey bro do you know if these can be used on suvs like the xa30 RAV4?
I have the exact kit except the tophats can I still do it
"Ok coming up to some tracks BLAP ,nice really smooth......lol
Yo need a thinner tire to let it tuck and not hit your fenders then you can lower it a little more
Ended up doing that lol
Nice video how does it ride so far 🎈
Ngo-Ta Ara Thank you and I sold the car but it started riding rough so I took the metal aluminum upper peace I drilled a hole in I took that out once I took that metal aluminum piece out it Road perfect I sold the car for over $3000 believe it or not someone wanted it that bad with the way it was built. It Road really good just do not install that little aluminum piece with a hole in it. For the best ride comfort
I have a question are they still good ? They dint messed up few weeks after ?
They are still currently ride good but skip the top metal piece step and toss it in the trash. It rode worse with it on. I’m talking about the thing that I drilled the hole bigger on. It still rides great 👍🏻 sold the car but been updated
Man you dont have a video how to replace water pump , I dont wanna do it my self because they charging me like $300 to fix it :( the water pump is $40
James D guy do we still leave the stopper u took out the washer stopper ? We leave that on instead of the thing u drilled ?
Nice job man.
Stacy Pfingsten thanks. I’m actually going to sell these to my buddy. Only because the adjustability isn’t high enough for these big tires ima throw cut springs on haha ride way smoother on cut springs believe it or not. But I figured I’d do a video anyways
James D guy that’s what is on my sons (cut springs) . But it doesn’t ride awesome. Any suggestions ? Hey maybe another how to video.
Stacy Pfingsten hmm it also depends on struts. If the struts are bad or the springs were cut wrong it wouldn’t ride good
There's 2 sizes on the coils ... smaller ones front or back????
Which step of your installation made it not bounce?
Can you do the same to the rear if you don't have the spring compressors?
The rear is even easier to be honest. But the answer is yes
Does it matter what coilover sleeve you get or does it have to be for the make and model of your car
what measurements are your wheels and rims
Hey question why when i push down on the car the the nut comes up through the top hat? Help!!!! The stopper is on btw
Jimal Martin had this issue and it was the little metal stopper that was the issue. It needs to go on before the top hat. It has a beveled edge on it. Its not a normal washer. I had that issue though was a easy fix
James D guy thanks im gonna check again
Great video really informative
Another way is to use hose clamps around the coils to hold them, user beware! Good deal on the springs, they want around 20 bucks just for a spanner wrench.
QQTrick1QQ there is another way safer method I forgot to show. But basically while the car is still on the ground not jacked up or anything, remove the 14mm nut and jack the car up it slowly decompress as the car lifts up
i want to get theses for my Honda cvic I don't want no bounce so my friend say I need top haters honda cvic em2 03
durability speaking is it good? how long will it take to worn out?
Checking in my man!
Scott Gatto thank you was looking forward to it!
You know im always here brother!
Is it fine to adjust the height on coilovers before installing ?? I’m kinda a noob just wanna know before I mess something up
Hey brother. Can i know what coilover are you using. I need the same coilover that ur use to this video.
Nice car bro!
Question i got a set for my 2002 Honda Accord off eBay but i notice that they sent me with 2 that is shorter than the other 2... are the 2 shorter ones for the back or front strut...?
I got 3 sets of rings. Thin..medium...and thick
How do i know which goes where
I think they are provided to give users options because shock absorber housing differs in outside diameters. Thicker one will fit smaller outside diameter while the thinnest one would fit those larger shock absorber housing
My car at the rear suspension is seperate, spring outside the strut, can you help me with that
Gotta add some camber to get rid of the rubbing 🤘 good video though.
Does the coil OD differs from rear and front coilover?
What’s up man got a question for you my nut that releases the coil spring is locked up and is spinning the shock itself any fixes?
Good stuff, dude. Keep the vids coming.
hi your link has an error could you relink the product pls?
Can I use this coilover sleeves coversion kit to my CRV 99 stock shock absorber?
Can u tell me why I'm so bouncy now I got them on and what I can do to fix it
James Schlegel take them solid top hats off the thing I drilled holes in On my video. I ended up taking them off of mine as well
I did it's not so bouncy also do u kno why it seems like my wheels are rattling at higher speeds like it starts around 60 and gets worsr
James Schlegel you need an alignment
Q
Very impressed. You should be an instructor
You’re a legend
Do i have to replace the top metal piece with something or just install it tight away??
Great explanation !!!
Am wondering what size tires he has on. 225/60/16?
