Was looking at getting a mini so I may as well get the newer one if it's the same price. The upgrades are great because Apple was smart and did not bump the price point. This is a good way for Apple to clear the shelves of older tech wrapped in a new product.
I already have 256 GB iPad Mini 6. I don't see any convincing reason to upgrade now. I'll pass this time, my Mini is still kicking and serves me very well.
Seems like you me and a whole lot of others are going to pass on this thing. I’m not sure what Apple is going for but innovation doesn’t seem to be it. Maybe they will introduce a fold IPad mini in 3 years that would make sense but we will see.
I've compared 6 and 7. Advantages for iPad Mini 7: Option for more than 256 GB (512) Faster chip (with hardware raytracing) Compatible with Apple AI Support for the new Apple Pen/Pecil 10 Gbps USB compared to 5 Gbps As I see it, if you're perfectly fine without Apple AI and don't care about games with hardware raytracing, the older iPad Mini 6 still work crazy good. If you feel that you need more storage you have to either move photos and stuff to a Mac/PC or buy a 512 GB iPad Mini 7. So yeah, no big reason to upgrade. But if you have a 5-10 years old iPad mini then it's a good idea to go for iPad Mini 7.
I WAS excited to upgrade my 256gb mini 6. I guess I'll hold off until the mini 8...if they sell enough of the 7 to justify keeping the line and come out with an 8 in another 3 years. I can't believe they didn't even move the front camera location to the long side. They’re not doing enough with the mini and based on rumors doing too much with the iPhone SE 4th gen.
Bruh chill. Which Andriod tablet at this price point can compete with the iPad mini 6 or even 7? Especially in the performance and software support department, non. I would have taken 90hz tho but OLed is just reaching, since even the Pro’s just got Oled displays and that was the biggest headlining feature.

60hz doesn’t matter when it’s only 500 nits bright… if you have a 120hz display but can’t use it outside when the sun is shining with this ultra portable size because you can’t read/watch shot or use it as a big navigator in a car…!? useless
Haha me too I have never had an iPad at all the first time I got an iPhone was the 15 plus an I love it an still love my galaxy s24 ultra I just love good tech
I’ll be upgrading from my old iPad Mini 5. The Mini works great when I’m flying my drone and for an easy to carry device to watch You Tube videos and the like when doing outside activities. I still use my iPad Pro with keyboard for most stuff.
I’m looking at this now on my iPad mini 5th gen! I skipped the 6th gen because of the jelly scrolling thing,so I’m going tomorrow to my local store and ordering the new 7 gen! I just passed on the new iPad Pro with the oled screen and I bought the 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 inch 6th gen and it’s awesome, especially considering I upgraded from a old 2017 iPad Pro 10 inch? But my iPad Mini is still my go to device for everyday usage?
I needed a new mini for flying. I just ordered my mini pro yesterday. I have a mini 4 that has no pencil support and is just past it's age. I really wish the refresh rate was 120hz though. Being able to write with the pencil while flying is a huge difference than using my finger! Also would be nice if it had an OLED or AMOLED screen instead of the old LED. Edit: I also wish it had the full pro abilities. It would be really nice to be able to use Final Cut. Hopefully that'll be unlocked with a software update or something.
I just got a mini 6 this month for 330. Amazon has 90 day returns, so if I can use the apple student discount or maybe they’ll knock off 100 for Black Friday… this ain’t a bad purchase
Of course I'll get the Mini 7th Gen! My present tablet is an iPad 5th gen, purchased in 2017. Apple no longer offers OS updates. I am not a trade up every year or two. I am opting for the Mini because of its size. I am NOT a gamer, I use a tablet for reading & writing. Please do what you can to let The Apple People know we want the Journal app to be CROSS-PLATFORM! Thank you!
The only think that interest me with the new iPad mini is the 512gb option. I found 256 really wasn't enough for me. However nothing else really excites me to buy. That's sad since I really wanted the new mini. It is what it is though thanks for the comparison!
I've been wanting a mini for a while now but decided to wait on the 7 in the hopes that it would maybe possibly support stage manager. This basically tells me, feel free to just go ahead and find a clearance MIni6 and buy that since apple decided to go full typical apple on this update and completely underwhelm everyone.
I just bought an Ipad mini 6 for like $300 and I saw this announcement today and I freaked out at first but the new one isn't really much better. Still, should have waited a little bit lol.
I was waiting for iPad mini, I hoped it would give 128gb on base model and it did. I don’t need to pay more for the 256 gb mini 6. That’s the only worthy upgrade.
I sufficient but minimal upgrade, at the price point in Apple's line up its ok value and I think I might get one. I do think they could make a fully ipad M4 pro version of this, assuming they can wring enough run time out of the small battery.
It’s is good update as compared to iPad mini 6 generation but after seeing the price difference between iPad mini 7 and iPad Air, I believe iPad Air is better bet for your money…
I have a iPad Pro M2 12.9 2022 don’t plan on getting a smaller screen lol it’s literally the same iPad mini just with a better faster chip Whoopie do… I don’t understand why it’s got so much storage. I have the 256 GB on my iPad and I’m nowhere close to using it all.
Thank you for that comparison video. 8GB RAM with the same price is a good thing although a 90Hz Display in toe WOULD have been ideal 🙁 I guess the limiting factor had to be the need to keep the price same as the older model's so considering this, I think it's worth it. Battery life of 10 hours is good too. [What if Apple got the 3.5mm Jack back only for the Minis 🤔💭❓.. 🙂 ]
Yesterday, I was all set to upgrade my sixth gen iPad Mini to a seventh gen iPad Mini, but Apple's decision to put the A17 Pro chip in it rather than the A18 Pro got me thinking some more. It's like getting yesterday tech at tomorrow's prices, well it is tomorrow's prices when you factor in you now need a new apple pencil despite the camera placement not changing. Is Apple really a green focussed company with so much e-waste designed into their products! And then there is Apple Intelligence. You can run it on the new iPad Mini with A17 Pro chip because they happened to equip it with 8GB RAM, but you can't run on an iPhone 15 Pro with the A17 Pro because Apple were too miserly to fit more than 6 GB RAM, unlike many Android phone manufacturers at the time who were already equipping their smartphones with 8GB+ RAM. I've spent a lot of money with Apple over the past few years, but I think it may be time for a change. These day's Apple seems to care more about fleecing its customers wallets and keeping their shareholders happy, with operating systems that are designed to lock you into their ecosystem and deliver year on year increases in new levels of bling, e.g. Widgets, AI & iPoor OS rather than giving you tangible desktop OS class improvements in overall functionality. It's time for the Apple's old guard to move on.
If I had a mini 6 then I wouldn't upgrade but since I don't have an Ipad mini and am in the market for one I will be getting the mini 7, still don't see any reason for anyone with the mini 6 to upgrade unless you want to use the new pencil pro
Both iPad Minis support 5g. I'm not sure why you stated only 4g. Also, does the new mini support the Apple Pencil 2 - you didn't note that the iPad Mini 6 supported the apple pencil 2.

No at all. Wish if they produce pro version with similar features of the top specs of the 13 and 11 inchs but with this small 8 inch. I like its size but the specs, screen Gpu are on the down side for me ..
As much as I’m disappointed that they didn’t upgrade the display, the bump in storage, Apple Pencil Pro compatibility, and new chip might just be enough for me to upgrade. I use my mini and 11 inch but I wish I could just use one pencil. This solves that problem.
