Some great Perch caught there. I haven’t seen any that size for a long time. I remember catching them at Toome lock-gates must be over 40 years ago. Fishing with Mepps I do recall one hot summers day stopping counting at 100. Happy memories, I would be happy these days to catch a couple in a session😀
Where was this, @@castnorthangling5964? I'm always looking for new spots, even if I have to travel... @devlinracing3553: Did you mean Toome Lock in Northern Ireland...?
No the don’t they just a lot harder to catch in winter they tend to school up and only feed once or twice every couple of days it’s a case of finding them at the same time they’re feeding
great video! on another note we have recently cleaned out a old farm pond on our property in crossgar,co.down where would i be able to get perch, rudd, tench or other native fish to stock the pond with..
looks like the motorway over pass between banlesloe and Shannon bridge. there's a small slip road you go on in athlone on the old road, don't take the bypass or you won't be able to get off to it.
good video, lovely fish. pity there's very little places like this left in ireland due to netting and people taking way to many fish out

Hi northern cast, great session,i was there last month, but caught more in river over lock.
Very few stretches of the canals around my area have perch. Cormorants and netting have done massive damage
Same on most waters buddy
Some nice perch mate 👍🏻 can’t beat a canal with fish 😂
looks like Co.galway near Shannon bridge. Pollboy lock
Must be nice to have fish in your canals. They seem to disappear in Scotland between October and May 😄
Nothing compared to England!
So true Grant

Hi Simon the first location you went too you missed out on 2 exponentialy good locations with some excellent shools of perch pb from there been 34.5
is that around lucan?
@@copeyhagen4249If you look at the sign opposite, it seems to be for a station, or some other public amenity.
I can't really make it out, though...
Have you got the location for this spot
really wanna know this spot aswell
Great video Simon. Really liked the look of that last spot.
Thanks buddy
Definitely miss canals in NI
Are you (forgive me if my terminology is wrong) jigging your bait at the bottom, is that where perch like to hang out?
