Perch fishing canals in Ireland

Bit of a road trip this one!
Took a crazy notion to jump in the car and drive 3 hours into the south after some Perch!! Canals are not something that we are blessed with and yet it's somewhere I really enjoy fishing!
6 hour round trip but it was super fun with plenty of fish caught!

Some great Perch caught there. I haven’t seen any that size for a long time. I remember catching them at Toome lock-gates must be over 40 years ago. Fishing with Mepps I do recall one hot summers day stopping counting at 100. Happy memories, I would be happy these days to catch a couple in a session😀

Very few stretches of the canals around my area have perch. Cormorants and netting have done massive damage

great video! on another note we have recently cleaned out a old farm pond on our property in crossgar,co.down where would i be able to get perch,rudd,tench or other native fish to stock the pond with..

Must be nice to have fish in your canals. They seem to disappear in Scotland between October and May 😄

Hi Simon the first location you went too you missed out on 2 exponentialy good locations with some excellent shools of perch pb from there been 34.5

I believe they only go down to 1-10g
