The wife LOVED catching a few wrasse on our recent 2-week holiday in Cornwall. The reason we caught those stunning wrasse, why you of course, John. It was from following your advice, rigs and tactics that we had an absolute blast out at Godrevy, from the rocks.
Your videos keep me sane mate I’m off work at the moment after being taken very ill and I’m stuck in hospital at the moment but people like yourself are literally getting me through it, I can’t thank you enough 😎👍🏻
Love Wrasse fishing. My biggest was over 6lb off Brixham Breakwater on Limpet. The local guy next to me luckily had a drop net to land it for me. When he saw it he said "lucky Brummie". Great video John. Thank you.
The beginning was good, tracking your trip to the shore. The Wrasse are beautiful and that last was a monster. Thanks for the bait, bead, and rigging information 🙂
I like your videos, your country is very beautiful to see and of course all th at you catch and harvest very reasonably. My favorite are with your family and friends.. Hoping for more outings and adventures with "little fish locker" James. He's very bright and loves his time with you and it's evident that you love teaching him everything you can and being a dad. Beautiful scenery , sitting here listening to the water an you talking about the rasps… Took me out of 100 degree weather! Thank you for sharing!! Amazing! Beautiful fish, the difference is quite evident an their all together! 👌😎
I am not used to catch and release, I was. In a fishing club for the last 20 years and. all our fish had to come back to the club for the weigh-in.I guess I have caught wrasse and not known what they were.
My mum's favourite fish to catch, she's a master. I remember watching her, dad and a mate ledgering for a boss Ballan in the harbour for over an hour, and eventually hauling out a 4 pounder after several ragworm feeds. They're really fierce on the rod, properly pulling it over if you're not careful. Thankfully they're also tenacious and greedy. You just took me back down memory lane. Brilliant footage as always John, thank you 😉
Love your videos I’ve been watching and subscribing for quite a while you’ve such a stronge Cornish accent. From the videos I detect a bit of Falmouth alnong with quite a few other nice marks , like you I’m also a forager and also a foreigner I’m so pleased you’ve got your young lad into Fishing. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, about 60 miles due east and inland of Rockaway Beach, Oregon. When I was a girl we went to the beach - you would probably say coast - at least 4 to 8 times a year. My mother would take us to the rock pools at low tide. Sometimes we'd go clamming. We'd occasionally look for berries or other wild foods. Sometimes crabbing. Rarely we'd fish. I always wanted to learn more about fishing. I did 5 years Active Duty in the US Navy so I had a chance to go to some really exotic places. My shipmates would go fishing. I went to the beaches with a guy who fished, and that was great fun. Nice video this one John. In one of my fav spots. The weather was glorious for sun worshippers but you could have done with a bit of swell. Well done catching that rod bite on film. Most I watch I feel are staged!! Good fishing matey.
Superb video upload. Some great catches along the shore. You certainly signpost Cornwall as an ideal break away for a holiday and to do some much loved fishing. The huge spider crab you caught was a surprise. The waters around the coast of Cornwall appear to be booming with life. An enjoyable and entertaining video. Thank you for sharing.
Once again, difference in seas. The Wrassle are very large and beautiful where you live. I am enjoying all your video's. You make them informative and very interesting to watch. The colors were so beautiful on the fish. Identical in every way except for color and perhaps patterns. Have a good day!

Many thanks for the latest series of videos and well done for the amazing content. Loved the visit to Spargo's. The two of you really do have some chemistry and work well together. Oh, and the dishes are mouthwatering! Hauling lobster pots looks like hard work, and we almost lean toward the TV when you open them up to see whats inside. The latest with the wrasse is amazing, and incredible fish to see. I have yet to catch one from East Devon beaches, but hopefully soon from the kayak... The whole family is now pretty much 'hooked' on your videos, that's my wife, two daughters and me! Look forward to the next one eagerly! Best wishes to you all.

Stunning scenery, excellent advice as always and stunning fish. Some of my most fun fishing has been for wrasse. Nice to see the young pipets. Keep up the excellent videos.
Another great day despite not catching a dogfish! This reminds me of when I used for wrasse off of the fingers of rock on the south coast of Devon my best fish was a four and a half pounder. I have to confess that it was eaten, that's what we did in the late 1950s/early 1960s, your videos always bring back memories of those far off happy days. Looking forward to your next episode.

I’m digging the addition of the microphone, allowing you to get further away from the camera and back into the action while still keeping your commentary going. Also liked the walking scenes with the stationary camera view, a whole new flare! Keep up the great work John!
Thanks John, great video. Unfortunately too old to clamber over rocks now days but takes me back to my younger days, great times. Delighted to see you wearing your life jacket as usual, as a water safety officer for the RNLI, I wish more rock anglers would wear one. Please keep up the good work.
Took my new rod to Portugal last week (after getting into fishing thanks to this channel) managed to catch a small sea bass! Was really good practice sorting out lines and lures and stuff, really just want to say thanks for getting me into fishing, definitely started something here... 😛 can't wait to carry it back on in the UK now, closest access to sea for me is Maldon so will see what I can do here 🙂 Thanks and keep up the fantastic content!
That was super to watch thank you, I recall years ago i was invited to fish in a similar location to yours, I got a bit and boy did it pull, thought I had something huge, it was an 8 inch long baleen wrasse, amazing fight in them, no surprise looking at the size of their tails, oh and caught on fresh shrimp. Super day out, but forgot the sunscreen, ouch!
Really enjoyed this video, thanks for talking us through the rigs etc. This ground looks similar to my local area (Tarbat Ness in Scotland). I'm always afraid to go anywhere near the bottom there because it's where tackle goes to die! Loved the comparison between the two ballan wrasse!
What a magical place, and a millpond sea that's crystal clear! I was feeding the rock pipits at Chapel Porth, even those are getting domesticated . I was lucky enough to see 3 separate pairs of Choughs , the Lizard, cape Cornwall and a pair at Chapel Porth. So get your wetsuit on when you can mate and show us the Cornish wonders under the surface 👍🏴 thanks John

Beautiful clear water
Stunning isn’t it.
Absolutely brilliant camera work at the beginning John and what a beautiful mark. I dont think I'd be that bothered if I blanked down there. Amazing place. Well done on another brill vid pal
Haha. Thanks. I was just having a little play with the camera. I figured why not 🤣🤷🏻♂️
I’m digging the addition of the microphone, allowing you to get further away from the camera and back into the action while still keeping your commentary going. Also liked the walking scenes with the stationary camera view, a whole new flare! Keep up the great work John!
Just trying something a little new. What’s life without a little experimentation? 😉👍🏻
Thanks John, great video. Unfortunately too old to clamber over rocks now days but takes me back to my younger days, great times. Delighted to see you wearing your life jacket as usual, as a water safety officer for the RNLI, I wish more rock anglers would wear one. Please keep up the good work.
I try to encourage anyone fishing like this to wear one. 👍🏻
It is absolutely my pleasure Ross. Glad you have enjoyed taking up fishing. 😊🎣💙
Haha. They do scrap well for their size don’t they. 🤣💪🏻🐟
Great session, thanks for sharing 👍
My pleasure. 😊
An old boy I learned a lot from once told me “if you’re not losing tackle you aren’t where the fish are!!”
Coughs are becoming more common which is great to see.
Brilliant video John, I love fishing off the rocks, just being there is enough, but if you catch a fish, that's a bonus, you could do a cook up with Jim, using them spider crabs 😎
We’ve done quite a few spider crab cook ups. 👍🏻🦀
Coming back from work and hell yeah John is in with new video, beer opened dinner done and I feel like I am almost fishing with ya :)
Perfect timing. 👍🏻
Briliant video. What a cracking mark to fish and some stunning fish to show. There amazing fish they wouldn't look out of place on a reef some where in Australia. Briliant video mate great stuff. All tfebest tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
Cornish Grouper. 😉
