Love fishing canals because there's always the chance of something special showing up, just need to get there at the right time and away from the crowds. Another great video and a cracking fish 😉
Took me back to my youth in the 90,s great video. My faveroute lure was the big s. The bridges around leeds where allways productive as where the bottom of the lock outflows.
I'm inspired, i'm going perch fishing tomorrow and think im going to use the ned rig for my first time. I've got some unopened Korum squirmz. I've been cheating recently using worms on the dropshot with great success. This is the first time I've come across your channel, keep it up. I'm subscribed!
I went and caught 4 perch on the ned rig! I didn't have any shroom jigheads so just used standard ones. Hard going but I perservered, and never changed to dropshot worms hahaha
Really good video Andy, shows just how hard predator fishing on the canals become this time of year. I’ve been struggling to catch over the last few weeks, so I cheated and put a lobworm tail on drop shot and caught really well. Proper fun day 😁 Congratulations on your PB canal Perch!! And really well done for catching the three species 👍👍👍
@@IBandAndyFishing Fishing the lob tail about 7” from the weight. I stayed within the same 10yards for 2 hours and caught over 20 small Perch about 3’ from the canal side. I fished alongside where the boats are moored. Definitely worth a go 👍👍👍
There are much much better ways to fish worm. I mean dropshot or don't. Putting bait on is kind defeating the object of using a lure rig. Personally I would use a really light canal leger rod and a small feeder. It will outfish the dropshot worm any day.
Nice video mate, Iv found myself over the past few sessions, keep a slight bow in the line as apposed tight to the weight, with a bow in the line the fish won't feel the resistance of the rod straight away without compromising bite indication, allowing you half a second extra to strike, can make the difference on difficult sessions
Hello Andy, I’ve caught loads of perch on the trd fished Texas style. For a while, 3 or 4 years ago it was about the only method I used, while my mate would chop and change. It really singles out the chunks, I caught my pb on it. I hardly use it now but I think I now know what I’m doing on Friday! A nice inspiring lure fishing vid. Cheers!
@@IBandAndyFishing yep. Offset worm hook in a 1/0 or similar, rigged weedless. Drag it across the bed. A glass bead between the bullet weight and the trd makes a bit of noise too.
@@IBandAndyFishing not sure mate, I had a small Perch hit a lure and it smashed it into the silt so I thought I was snagged but when I pulled it lose the fish was still on lol
We've done about 50 lure fishing videos and 5 of our top ten most viewed are lure fishing - we definitely dabble! It's taken a back seat since we moved house, very little 'doorstep' lure water but lots of game fishing. Hoping to get plenty more done though! 👍👍
@@IBandAndyFishing how funny 😄. I’ve only ever had fly fishing ones pop up on my suggested vid feed til now. I look forward to seeing more. I love neds when the water is very cold.
Well done on a new PB. You don't have to catch much for an interesting video. Listening to peoples thought process is quite interesting. If I'd have been fishing I'd have gone for a crank bait, certainly not a Ned as I really can't get on with it at all.
nice little session really I've had worse thats for sure lol as for what I woulda done different think as soon as the need stopped working or before I moved I'd of ran a small hard bait through salmo hornet something like that often times nips turn to bites when trying something polar opposite and if it doesn't work it reassures you your doing right thing lol
@@IBandAndyFishing l caught it in a local dam. And a woman caught the same fish and won the drennen cup. Only l didn't have any keep net or film in my camera. True. Its a very small dam literally on my doorstep. No pike. But the perch were massive. I joined the club again a couple of years ago, its like dead man's shoes to get in. But the rules were bizarre almost to the point you couldn't fish it. I went to a few meetings and they just made even more rules. So l just never went. I mean this dam is superb massive carp and any species and its a tiny mill pond. Such a shame. Still. 4lb eh
I always found them small stone bridges to be empty, they are normally too shallow at the sides with big flat stones also the water seems to be extra clear under them. Some canals have great bridges but they need to be deep, all my bridges seem to be 3 foot deep and clear like bathwater
A great fish and video. Please could you explain those terms and others, eg ned and Carloina rigs for instance and any others before you use them in future. I've been fishing since the early 1950s and never heard of them. I'm sure that I can't be the only person
Hi Tony, I did think about making a video on these rigs but it's been done so many times on youtube - I'll try to make the shots of the rigs clearer going forwards. Thanks for the feedback!
@@IBandAndyFishing Thanks for the reply maybe it's just us oldies who don't know these things. However I'm sure that a brief explanation would be beneficial. Tight lines.
The canals I fish are only 1-1.3 metres deep so they'd be too heavy for the canals I fish. If you've got deeper water or flowing water the 5g will be great
Yes, it is, the silences are cut out because most folks find watching a rod tip dead twitching a lure in total silence pretty boring. I'll leave the 2 hours where literally nothing happens in the next edit for you though bud 👍
@@IBandAndyFishing I'm just one dude, no threat. I liked you and I like fishing videos. This was the first content of yours I saw. Maybe others are different. I don't want to nag or hate or anything. I have a few channels I watch more or less on a regular basis. Carl and Alex, of course, WILD LIFE, 618 fishing, Ty Patrol - of course I skip sections in most of the videos, cut to the action, but I never ended one of these because the narration was annoying.

Funnily enough, this is my preferred method for perch fishing now. It far outfishes synthetic baits. Three to one would be my guess

You love a bit of dropshotting!
Ultralight fly fishing with squirmies and small nymphs can be great fun 😉 perch and roach but anything could take them.
Yeah you definitely were in a snag there, they love to pick up lures which just pinged out of an obstacle! Some nice fishing 💪

If you watch carefully Tom you can see it just slipped from my hand as I was about to remove it from the waterway 👀

It was the finesse 2.75" lure and the 1.4g head bud 👍

How long is your fluro hook link when using the Carolina rig thanks
I was just over a foot at this point. I shorten this as the water gets colder to ensure the bait is low to the deck
