    My USB slot is damaged, so that the phone will not always charge (it depends how I angle the charge cable). It's still usable though, but I wonder if I should try to fix it. Does it worth it? Can one find the spare part easily?

    thanks ! :-)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi yes, you would need to remove the battery, then remove the main board to have access to removing the power button etc.

  • @smurtle7959
    @smurtle7959 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hey, quick question, my phone fell, it worked for about a week after it fell, then the first time i shut it down and it started up, the screen was messed up, i could get notifications and it still took my fingerprint, but whenever i "logged in" it would just show some random pixels that would light up for a second, is this LCD based, meaning i just need to buy a new LCD screen, or is this something worse?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well when you turn the phone on, at any point does the screen work? or even from the boot up process you dont see anything? If you dont see anything at all at any time on the screen (normal picture etc.) then it could either be your screen or the cable maybe got loose from its place. Check cable first, if doesnt help then you may need new screen. But if the phone shows picture then once its fully on doesnt show anymore, it would be a software or main board issue

    • @smurtle7959
      @smurtle7959 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      pwrdbykyank sorry for taking forever, but do you know of anywhere I can get the screens/Leds cheap? At amazon it costs 135$ dollars at its cheapest, which seems expensive since used Moro z play phones only cost like 200$

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      they run about $109 on ebay, but thats as cheap as you will find it for now.

  • @AzuMentch36

    There are certainly significant differences between this and the other Z phones. Thank you for making this disassembly video. Do you know if the headphone jack is replaceable? Also, can one carefully replace the battery without taking out the top part of the phone?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem, and yes the headphone jack is replaceable. You would need to remove the screen to gain access to the battery.

    • @AzuMentch36
      @AzuMentch36 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's good to know. It looks like its soldered on like the USB-C port. I was concerned at first, but it's good to hear that it's easy to replace...Unless the headphone jack is soldered.

      Ya you can do that just make sure not to damage the sim reader pins underneath. You don't want to break them if they are jammed somehow

  • @AjayKumar-rm3ui
    @AjayKumar-rm3ui 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    so is there will be any prob when charging or playing heavy games for too much... cuz it gets heated up.. especially while charging...
    will the screen will come out..?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No because that heat is not as hot as the heat from a heat gun. The heat gun can burn through your skin, but your phone will not do that. But yea say you let your phone in your car on a hot summer day for long hours you can possibly cause the screen adhesive to loosen up but not to a point that it would fall off, if you pried on it then it would come off.

      You're probably going to need new adhesive for the screen to adhere it back to the frame. I'm sure precut adhesive for this phone is available on ebay or amazon etc.

    I recently had my screen replaced on my Moto Z Play, and the repair shop I brought it to can't seem to figure out why the camera corner is not laying flush with the frame. any ideas for why this is happening?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be many things, if you are referring to the front facing cam, maybe the plastic bracket that holds the ear speaker hasn't been pushed in all the way to click down in place, or something is stuck under it.

    Hey, I guess I'm screwed if I peeled off all the adhesive that holds the screen? I cracked my screen, so it became a mess to take off the screen assembly, and most of the adhesive is pulled off.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no you can just buy new adhesive online from say ebay or elsewhere and cut the adhesive to size and apply the new adhesive.

    • @Quroe_
      @Quroe_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way, I much appreciate the clarity of steps in this video. I'm really, really angry I damaged my phone, but that shouldn't mean your hard work should go unnoticed.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, have you tried taking it apart and using a brush like a tooth brush to brush off any corrosion or water residue off the chips or connectors to see if the camera and LED will work again? Most likely corrosion build up around the chips is whats preventing it from working. As for getting new parts, I would say ebay would be your best bet.

    I fell into a pond with my phone in my pocket. (it has a case that covers every hole but the speaker hole) it will not turn on and the screen is black. when i hold the power button it will vibrate slightly. i am looking for a way to find out what needs replacement in the phone. PLZ help.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your best bet is not to try to turn it on and damage it worse. You will need to disassemble the phone and disconnect the battery and clean out any liquid inside and clean all the connectors and chips with a brush like a tooth brush or something and make sure there is no corrosion left over. After you cleaned it out you can try power it on again and see if it works, if not then you might have a bad screen or main board.

  • @jakeradona5531
    @jakeradona5531 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didnt realize my phone was still on while trying to replace the screen. Black screen, sometimes it turns on as white/gray dots. Power button gives a vibrate when pushed. Think I fried the mobo?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, even though its always safe to first disconnect the battery, on moto phones, I have personally disconnected the screens first on hundreds of these phones and never had any issue. Try disconnecting the battery, and taking the screen cable out and making sure its clean, putting it back the battery n screen again and seeing if it works. If not maybe you damaged the screen cable or screen itself but again, taking out the screen first while on shouldn't give you an issue.

    Is it possible to break AMOLED without any physical damage to Gorilla Glass. My phone went blank without any scratch, brake or damage. Here service center says it is user fault and it is not under warranty? How it is possible to damage AMOLED without any visible damage to phone itself?

    • @easeboy1
      @easeboy1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      After a serious e mail traffic with Lenovo Turkey, they finally agreed to have it checked by another service center. I sent the phone today to service center, hopefully I am going to get a good news. This looks definitely a fabrication problem. I have seen a good amount of Moto Z Play users are complaining about it and it mostly occurs in a week or a month. İnterestingly enough, only Lenovo Turkey denies that it is a fabrication problem, most of other users have it replaced under warranty.

    • @easeboy1

      The T4 size was too large. T3 worked fine for every screw except one. The screw became stripped. I can only assume the Motorola uses cheap parts for their cheap phones.

      Actually the Motorola Nexus 6 (Xt1103) has about two dozens screws in its frame. I still don't get it why some companies glue in the screen without simple access from the rear of the phone. As much as some dislike Apple, we must give it to them how easily serviceable iPhones are (just two screws).

    I have dropped my phone from the table and the screen became totally black, with a scratch in the screen. What I am getting only is the green light blinking.
    Please suggest me any solution....

      Prasun Parihar you probably got a hairline crack in the screen underneath so you would need to replace the screen.

    my moto z play was dropped into sea water... and i accidentally power it on moments after the dunk. now it is not turning on.. I have tried dipping it into a 70% isopropyl alcohol.. still it wont turn on and the led blinks while plugged in.. i dont know what to do anymore.. please anyone help me.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't suggest putting it in any alcohol or any chemical. Most likely you trying to power it on fried chips on the board. The best thing to do when phone contacts water is to remove any electricity (battery etc.) and open phone up to clean it with a brush and let it dry. You can still try to open it up and clean all the corrosion inside, but most likely your board is damaged beyond repair.

      pwrdbykyank Hey mines go wet when i went through a water sprinkler. It comes on to a bot laying on its back with options but i can't get it to safe mode. Only reboot options that doesn't work.
      Plus it doesn't work without the power cord connected. Please help. My contacts haven't switched over to my new phone and i don't know why.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi if it goes to that screen, either your software went bad meaning you lost your info most likely, or there is a battery issue (leaning toward this since it wont work without charger you said) or some other electrical problem. If you really need your stuff I would say first, open the phone up, clean the inside of any corrosion with a brush, and put it back together see if it works, if not replace the battery and then see if it works. If still nothing your last resort would be to try a system restore, you can watch this video I will link to see how its done. th-cam.com/video/D3Dn3yFQ5zM/w-d-xo.html

      nikhil konnur its not possible to do that without having special tools etc. plus would never come out the same as having it completely replaced. touch will be off and you will have dust etc. plus big chance of breaking screen

      Regis Oliveira you can open up the phone and clean out any leftover water and brush off corrosion from the chips n connectors and see if you can get it working again

      You would have to take out everything, the board, the small parts and battery etc. and move it over to the new frame.

      Pools have chlorine in them, which is highly corrosive to most metals. Your phone is fscked.

      try installing the ribbon cable first for the finger print then as you fold the screen down a bit, place it in the slot in the screen

    I haven't even started watching this video but my Moto Z Play has developed a slight crack on the edge of the screen with hairline crows feet fractures (hardly noticeable). I ebayed a replacement LCD screen, how hard is it to replace the LCD only ? this is the screen LCD Unit I bought from ebay, will it be easy to replace ?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi shouldn't be difficult, you will need to put new adhesive if it doesn't come installed on the screen already. Just remove the old screen as shown in the video and add adhesive to the inside frame where the old was (first remove the old adhesive) then connect the cables etc and install the screen back in place. Also don't forget you will need to remove the fingerprint sensor from the old one by prying it off (its held on with adhesive) and installing it on the new one.

    • @davedogge2280
      @davedogge2280 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say 'adhesive' what type ? not superglue right ? not thin double sticky tape ? you got any amazon links for the adhesive types for the fingerprint and other components that you could recommend please.
      Thanks in advance.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you would need 3m black cellphone adhesive, they sell it in different widths and so forth. Both ebay and amazon would have it. No dont use super glue
