- Arma 3 is GOLD. This video is a collection of my thoughts on why Arma 3 is one of the best games of all time. I tried to treat this one as a personal analysis comparing it to the likes of DCS and Squad, both of which are fantastic MILSIM's themselves.
There have been many games developed in our time that have shaken the very pillars of what we believe to be the epitome of the gaming world. Some games were created to tell a story and to pull their players out of their stressful lives and into a world where anything is possible. Some were developed for pure, unadulterated carnage and the dopamine release when crushing all that opposes you. And some were created to give the player the ability to take on the persona of whomever they wanted in a world designed to make them forget their daily stressors. Yet, only one was designed to give the player true freedom of choice. From Arma’s inception in 2001 when it was still known as Operation Flashpoint, this series has been all about letting the player choose everything from the clothes & equipment they wear to the weapon they fire, and the manner in which they fire it.

Arma 3 is so much fun. I've been doing Screenshots, Eden Missions, Zeus Missions or just being an infantry man with a group of guys in my unit. It's taught me a lot of stuff as well, it truly shows how war doesn't choose it just takes. I once tried to take a mortar position with my squad and as I was moving positions I got hit by an 80mm round. I talked to the zeus after the operations and he told me the AI launched it at least 30 seconds before I started to move.
War is random chaos that we try to control. Love these types of experiences. Something about Arma 3 just feels more grounded than other MILSIMS

Arma gives me the same emotions that I felt when I was a kid and my mom used to buy me those bags full of plastic soldiers, vehicles and structures. Now I'm still having fun in the same way!

Happy to be a part of the community with you Viper. Always happy to do so. Majority of my hours after my first public game spree from 2015-2017 ended with me making friends I still play with today, and my love for lorewriting and screenshots. I will always be happy to be a part of this community.
This community has got to be one of the best in gaming. There’s a negative side, of course, but the good far outweighs the bad. I’m right there with you still gaming with some of the same guys years later.
Arma 3 will forever be in my heart. I will dearly miss it once the multiplayer base shifts to Arma 4.
I have a feeling the MP community will stick with A3 for a while until A4 is fleshed out. Same thing people did with A2 going to A3. Its just the nature of gaming culture shift.
It's a great game. Especially thanks to the modders and the community.Although it would be better if Bohemia would have done something to improve the AI.
does the ai suck? and can you play against other players or only ai
the AI of the arma games always had problems. And Bohemia has done absolutely nothing.They look like robots.With repetitive and rigid movements&twists. And after so many years they don't improve an AI that it has a lot to improve.In fact,they didn't even try.
I stopped playing video games in like 8th grade, except for arma 😎 that’s when I started arma. I might not pick it up for months at a time but I always come back. Such an amazing game. People who know me irl are always surprised when they find out I’m a nerd 😨
Amazing vid, I feel like it reinforces the point of how expansive Arma 3 is when even a segment just talking about different experiences in the game only scratches the surface of what players have had during an operation. The limitless opportunities of combat, roleplay, supply, support, art and lore that is available in arma is just so vast it always kills me.

I know I’m late to commenting on this, but you hit the nail on the head with this one.
When I had my PC I spent 90% of my time in the editor making missions and doing screenshots!
The variety of the gameplay is what drew me to this. I do hope that the console players get to experience the glory of Arma in the near future as well, and fingers crossed it will be cross console too.

Y'know, I bought Arma 3 around 2018 just to play with a friend without much thought of what the game really was.
I'm almost 6500 hours in, this is easily the best game I've ever played with the best community I've had the pleasure to be a part of.
and you sure as hell are my favorite media creators in the Arma 3 community :D

2,500+ hours in and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I bought it in 2016, found out my computer could barely run it vanilla, uninstalled and didn't touch it again until May of 2020. Since then, I've been hooked.
Getting the chance to meet hundreds of amazing people in the community with the same, nerdy passions, learning how to actually put together a scenario with a functioning objective, and participating in any role as part of a massive scenario has been some of the highlights of my Arma 3 experience.
Nothing like LARPing as SF, working as part of a weapons crew, or pounding the earth beneath as infantry in mass assaults to iron out one's day.
And guys like you are pretty nifty, I can't tell you how many mods I've found 'cause of you. Stay based.
Arma's lore is fantastic I love every bit of the main campaign and I absolutely adore the Contact Campaign.
As a active arma 3 player with almost 10k hrs... PRO tip... Put a silencer on a TRG -21 with a LRPS. ANd you have a sniper with amazing accuracy up to 1500m.
Thank you for this video,for explaining to the community the difference between ArmA and the other games like Squad and DCS.There is no other game like ArmA 3 in the entire gaming industry and never will be.That's why we need to keep the series alive.I have 2778 hours on ArmA 3,some of them are singleplayer,some multiplayer ,some editing.But i'm still finding new ways to play,new mechanics i didn't knew were there.Not to mention all the things BI and the communtiy puts in.

I just enjoy coming home from work and jumping into Eden Editor and playing. Lately I've been flying a F/A-18 off a carrier and doing SEAD missions. I would place like 5 SAM sites surrounded by Tigris and have to go in and take out and much as I can. Of course, I place ally infantry and tanks to help ;)

Haven't played Arma in about 2 years since my group all went our separate ways... Arma still has over 2k hours more then any of my other games lol. KoTH will always have a special place in my heart

Not a big gamer, being that I am a retired U.S Army combat veteran turned 18x, I was 'in a sense' institutionalized in Afghanistan. This game is the only thing stopping me from going rogue back in Afghanistan. I miss combat. While games like this mess with the weak-minded adrenaline going, it keeps me calm.

I have +8 years and +1,000 hours of game time playing ARMA 3 and I feel like I still haven't got tired of it. Best sim ever.
I am looking forward to this title. I am new to PC gaming. So just sticking my toes in. So far, I just have BF3 ' Nostalgia reasons ' and Hell Let Loose.
I want this and Squad but I fear that 1, my rig might not be able to run it well enough to make it half as beautiful looking but also...I am going to suck hard with it, due to me NEEDING to use K&M to play them. I still use controller for BF3 and HLL and they work good with it but I have a feeling that Squad and ARMA are two different beasts when it comes to that. Which sucks, because in BF3 and 4 on consoles, I LOVED flying...especially the transport helicopters...but there is just no way that I would get use to flying them with keyboard and mouse...
i love the zombies and demons mod. i like creating scenarios where the us army is defending a HQ while being overrun by zombies
I personally think Arma 3 and its main DLCs are worth full price, but not everyone can afford that so the frequent sales they go on is great. I've had so much fun over the years both in single player and in co-op in just the vanilla game and there's so much more to be had with mods. I think Arma 3 will be a must have even after Arma 4 releases
Arma 3 is the only game where you can play like SQUAD, EFT, COD and War thunder
arma 3 and payday 2 are 2 of my fav long lasting fossils cant see myself letting go of either till something better comes along

In my 3,500 hours on Arma3 I’ve been at turns obsessed with vanilla SP campaigns, DRO, Warlords, Invade & Annex, KOTH, Liberation, Mike Force, mission making and even trying to make my own map and custom objects….and I still feel like I’m not even 1/2 through! 😂
I've bought ArmA 3 on sale, after my friend from Iran recommended me this game via Discord. He also taught me how to play the game by making me play to beginner server. And then I am capable to play on more serious servers where lone wolfing is quite discouraged and limited choice of weapons. I am truly amazed with this game, along with its community.
It is just unfortunate I can't play with him anymore because he has to fight indirectly against his own country and western media propagandas.

Hey man, I have almost the exact same specs as you on my PC, with the exception of your card, I have a 2060. What tips would you give to someone to run arma 3 at the max fps? I know it’s a very CPU dependant game so I overclocked to 5ghz but If I can get it even more stable I’d love that. Do you use any performance based mods?
Well I currently do run it at max, and I maintain a healthy 60-80 FPS most of the time. Given how A3 is coded and optimized there’s not really much you can do except lessen the amount of assets/AI running around causing calculations. The engine just isn’t built for great performance with a lot going on, unfortunately. And no I don’t use any performance mods, only visually enhancement I use is Reduced Haze mod by ANZACSAS Steven to make the game more vibrant.

I can see that but to be fair, if you were wanting to learn tactics and strategies, I would have went with a Battlefield game ' NOT 2042 blech ' over CoD. Majority of their maps are big enough to be able to actually use strategies and tactics....and their spawns don't flip because your team got a good flank on the enemy..lol

I have 967 hours logged on Steam in ARMA3 alone. Plus about 120 in the legit steam version of ARMA2.
About 99.5% of it is singleplayer sandbox fucking around, campaigns or missions.
Sadly i can't run it well enough to play multiplayer and most teams who would welcome me to ZEUS were US based, so not in my timezone.
I hope to be better prepared for ARMA 4!

I would have to say after putting 2k hours in A3, this will forever be my “hometown” when it comes to shooter games.

Completely agree with this. I'm hoping, really really hoping Arma 4 is going to be just as great possibly better but I have doubts. It's a tall order and after playing reforger I have even more doubts. My expectations is Arma 3 with a lot better AI and graphics the same level or better than Red Dead 2. Given the broad hardware they're targeting and the devs would have to basically recreate Unreal engine 5, I honestly think it's a step to far for them. Arma 3 could be the pinnacle of the franchise and you know what, that would not be a bad thing. Sure it would be nice for a better version, but if its a flop, we have near perfection now, thankyou modders.
I'd say It would still be worth it in 2042. This game is truly waaaay ahead of its time. Just like Star Wars battlefront 2 was in 2005
This game can be anything you want it to be and then some. My only problem with it right now is that I have so many addons that this is now a 500+ GB game and counting.

420hrs in and willing to make it to a thousand this year.
At the beginning is a KC-135, and later a C-17. I’ve been trying to find these aircraft. Are they standalone mods or are they embedded in other mods that I’ve not found?
They are in the USAF mod. The -135 and -17 are in the “Utility” mod, which also comes with the MQ-9 and RQ-4. The “Fighters” mod comes with F-22, F-35, and A-10. Oh yeah. A ton. Especially scenarios made by the community for free that you can download from the Steam workshop

The graphics, visuals and gameplay has aged like PEARLs and DIAMONDs.
Although, imo there's still a serious lack of missions and scenarios from the developers. I'm gonna hate it when ARMA 4 is out cause it'll be Arma 3, day one, all over again.

Eh, wasn't impressed. They COD'd it into the ground. It also wasn't made by Bohemia Interactive, and instead was made by Codemasters. It is not a true Operation Flashpoint. Arma 1 was the true next Operation Flashpoint.

I bought it a few years ago an was scared to join any milsim groups💀 but once you find that one stay with it you soon get comfortable trust me its worth your money

I 💯agree that ArmA is the best milsim PC game ever. I have over 5000 hours if not more of game play. Those people making the mods, and improving the game are incredible too 👍. I can't wait for ArmA4 and also hope it comes with an editor. I will start spending more time in the editor creating new scenarios to give the AI the smartest fight against people wanting to accept the challenge. Arma 3 is a masterpiece. One of my friends that was reluctant in the past to try it recently got into it and got instantly hooked. You put it well in that Arma 3 is one of the most unique, engaging and unforgettable gaming experiences you can have.

I played arma 1, 2 and 3 many many hours. And overall its a very complete package. My only negative is and still is a gamebreaker for pvp and fast past gaming and that is the clunky movement and mount gear user interface. Its just making the game really slow and thats a shame. I dont want to mount a weapon via a interface menu, it needs to be just 1 button. overall, arma rules the market.

I've been playing arma for about. . . 2 years now? I've gained about 1,130 hours on it, from a mix of zeusing, Eden editing, and campain, and now, Antistasi, Its been a hell of a game to play, but being stuck with only my friend to play it with consistently has gotten fairly stale, but that doesnt mean moments arent fun, Its a rush of adrenilene in Antistasi when you predict what the enemy support is, and end up accidently avoiding it as you watch it bomb the position you were sitting in not 30 seconds earlier, or scheming with your friends on how best to attack a base, only for it all to go straight out the window as 2 Cheeta SPAAs destroy you in seconds
Also, theory crafting is amazing when theres no set lore in some ops
Arma 3 is a good example of perfect singleplayer and near perfect mod support.

I've been reduced to an outdated laptop that barely runs Arma 2 OA. What concerns me is; the modding support has been axed (it's an old game I get it). I just hope Arma 3 doesn't get its nuts chopped off once 4 drops, and I hope Arma 4 has bigger balls than 3. let's see what happens. or make it happen...
