You’re completely right I always find myself coming back to arma 3 no matter what. Me hitting a bush and going Mach 10 into the air is not the type of realism I want.
It’s also awesome that you can just completely change which era you’re fighting in too. One minute you could be fighting in WW1 trenches and the next you’re in a futuristic helicopter cruising over the AO
And you could combine eras too. Like WW1 soldiers fighting WW2 soldiers. Or WW2 soldiers fighting Vietnam soldiers. Or you cold make a fight between a huge horde of cold war Soviet soldiers against 2 big squads of 2035 NATO. It is fun to experiment with stuff like that. One thing I like to do, which is a little weird. Is Use Vietnam soldiers on European maps, role playing a "what if scenario" if during the 60s the US military went to war against the old soviets. It is a whole different experience than the 80s or 90s cold war militarys which are basically just a basic version of modern military.
It is the *_Sandbox_* part of ARMA that makes Arma great and why it has lasted and been loved for so long. The fact you can do literally anything you want, make any military fight whoever you want, wherever you want in the world, however you want, is the best part. It is also fun to have the American soldiers fight against the British soldiers. Or have the Russians fight against the Chinese. Or have the modern Germans fight against the modern Americans or British. These are things you can not do in almost any other game. But armas sandbox design allows you do do anything and play around with different ideas, even if they are weird and outrageous and very unlikely to happen. It is just cool to see a realistic game where the modern German military with their HK guns, G36s, MG3s(MG42s) go to war against the Americans with their M4s, saws, m240s, etc. These are scenarios you won't find in literally any other game. Arma is like a ocean, the amount content stretches very very far, and the things you can do with that content is like the depth of the ocean, it goes very very deep. Most games are one of the other, like either a large ocean that is only 2 feet deep or just a big swimming pool that is 1,000ft deep. Arma does both.
Nothing beats the thrill of just making your own mission is the arma 3 editor and being impressed the AI does what you want but also being shocked when they surprise you
There’s one thing to emphasize about this game: its performance. It may run like shit, but it will never crash on you. This is purely anecdotal, but I have never seen any reports of ARMA randomly crashing unless it’s heavily modded with incompatible mods. There is no game more fun to play on 30 FPS than ARMA 3. I used to play on a shitty laptop and the fact that it runs no matter what is mind boggling
it had problems with memory leak a long time, but a modder managed to find the cause and fixed it, and bohemia integrated the modders code into the game. since then its rock stable. with todays cpus of latest generation consistent framerates of around and above 100fps should be possible. i can run it at 55-80 fps (depending on player count, map and how many shells and jets are in the air) with my overclocked 9600k. Thats good enough, so that the hitregs and lagtradekills concern you more, then the performance. ofc you need a decent enough grafics card, to run higher framerates. a 1070 or better should be fine for 1440p. Arma is one of theese games, that run better, if you DONT set all grafics settings to low. Its also one of those games that highly profit from fast responding RAM
I love Arma 3 it is one of my favorite games but I hope that in Arma 4 they fix a lot of the issues with the AI I can’t tell you how many times the ai has driven into a wall and gotten stuck or just straight up ran away from the battlefield
Driving into a wall is no biggie, imagine wanting to make AI drive near infantry AI and they decide to run over the whole column before you can do anything about it, or into a tree and everyone inside dies
Hi bro, i just found your channel. Im Spanish and i play ARMA too. Few months ago, a few dudes from the unit, from South America came to visit Spain and stuff, and we managed to have 10 guys in the same bar. We were chatting about the OPs we did, etc. About how boring are the convoys, that time we saw an RPG fly over our heads and explode 10 meters away from us, and... this is a "meme" between us, the thing is, two grandpas came to ask us if we were real military and asked us where we were deployed, Afghanistan? Lebanon? Syria? Iraq?
A less-known but big side of Arma 3 are milsim clans. You don't HAVE to join one to play the game, but if you find a good clan that you enjoy playing with, Arma becomes a lot more engaging and fun
It must be said that the campaign worth it. There are 20 o 30 hours there, with a wide variety of operations (stealth, ambush, survival, urban firefight...). You control your team and you decide the way u face the situation... Is not the strongest point of the game but its the ****ing best campaign in a FPS
Man guerilla warfare is fucking amazing. I remember this one mission in the campaign (its a side quest I believe) where you go out and get fuel for the FIA, and can either give it to miller to blow up a high ranking officer, or do what you were sent to do. I made the AI drive by the cistern in the military outpost whilst having this only AI squad engage in a firefight with the AAF, ejected, and got in the cistern snagging it. Pulling that off was immense joy and I kept giggling like crazy.
@@sleepingrrandom2876 yeah, i remember that mission, was hard. My fav maybe when u arrive at altis with no guns... Hide and raid the enemy Squads with poor equipment.... The whole campaign worth the Game, even if the strory IS not the most interesting one
My suggestion for anyone getting into this game would be to check out the zeus game mode. Currently in a couple of groups, one for example is set in a alternative African Kommandos universe with extensive written lore. Much fun to be had for the more serious types or the causal players.
It's special to me because of the communities that come and go. A lot of fond memories in Arma 3 after meeting some really cool people in KOTH, Zeus, and even some of the Altis Life communities that have been around.
This is facts bro. I love sim games in general but I pretty much always come back to ARMA or Combat Mission (if I’m looking for some strategy action). Arma especially is just a one-of-kind game, you can easily get 1000+ hours of fun out of a $60 (if that) package. The sheer variety and level of content is just incredible. I’ve been playing ARMA since I was 14, in 27 now and I’ll still find a new server that brings up that childlike wonder and amazement when I find some new game mode or cool community. In an era where most games are just grind-fests I’m really thankful for our boys at Bohemia for not selling out and making games that prioritize the community.
Combat Mission was my “first true gaming love” before I met Operation Flashpoint in 2001 (i.e. now renamed to Arma Cold War Assault), and I’ve never looked back….although, coincidentally I just bought Combat Mission Cold War…though I’ve not played it yet
As someone with thousands of hours in Arma, I would recommend the gamemode "Antistasi Plus" to any new or veteran players alike. In summary it is a persistent gamemode in which you fight as local rebels against two major factions (in my case USA and Russia) who are also trying to take control of the island, and are fighting each other. Guerilla warfare, collecting weapons and gear, capturing outposts and recourses, buying stuff from the arms dealer and many many more interesting stuff. Each playthrough can last for weeks or months. Ideal gamemode for a few friends, every Arma 3 player should try it!
Proud to say I bought this game all the way back in Early Access, back in 2013 when it was just one island and a few units. I was 13 and I can remember the day my Uncle bought it for me. I'm now a 23 year old who still sinks in hours into this game. Nothing comes close! I'm so proud of what the game has become in 10 years and I can't wait for A4!
I'm a Pawnee pilot myself. I would _always_ choose the Pawnee, despite being completely outgunned by other stuff. Because it just feels so damn powerful to know that little bird in and out and _still_ be able to - ahem - pawn players in way better gear.
For the invade and annex part... I am very good at seeing the enemies... sometimes people actually shoot at ghosts or where an already killed unit is, wasting a full mag or even two sometimes before they realize they're not there anymore. To see enemies is something you can learn in Arma 3. Sometimes people hide very very well, but it will never be perfect to the point that you can't see them while they can. Arma 3 is the game that let's you do everything that has anything related to guns.
A game has to be really special to have headache inducing lag and ai that shoot you poking their weapons through walls and ceilings, and still be worth 3000hrs of my time
Arma 3 and Garry's mod are just long lost brothers, They both pride themselves on their community and continue to remain such amazing games even after all these years. Literally watched this video because I've seen a lot of Arma footage and was interested but never really dug into it. Right now it's on Steam for 80% off so if that's not a deal...
For seven years now i am a member of a "milsim"-clan. Every weekend we play our missions which can last longer than four hours. Every weekend for seven years and it never got boring. Every mission feels different because Arma 3 gives you endless options to play. It is by far one of the best games ever made, if not the best, despite its flaws.
I bought arma 3 when it was on a sale but my steam account got hacked and the hackers returned it even before I even got to play it but watching this video made me buy this game again
I'd like to add Antistasi to the mod list. There are official servers, but you can run one of your own, and its a challenging scenario where you play as a rebel against a corrupt regime and/or a foreign invader.
I have the same "blind to those that wish to hurt me" problem. I play squad and dayz a lot and when I team with others they always seem to easily spot and track enemies while all I see are trees. Some times I just die without even seeing where the bullets or enemies are and I am convinced that in squad the trees have guns. "Enemy, enemy! south west on the hil" "WHERE????" *we all die cause im blind*
Try adjusting your in-game graphics settings to like "object details" to low and leave some of them at high as well. You can Look up other people's settings for this on Google or whatever search engine you use. It helps to see better through trees and grass and stuff. It's worth a shot?
I have to say Skyrim and Fallout have the similar feeling where you can just mod it to hell but nothing comes close to arma running about 28 to 55 FPS just the variety and you can learn how different jobs I used to be on a Scout and mortor team in Arma
ARMA 3 will never leave my hard drive. It's one of those sims that a player will always go back to after being disappointed by some of these bogus new games that have come out. It's versatility is unmatched. You can make a valid awesome mission for yourself in 2 minutes in the editor, add on to it, make changes to it on the fly etc. The modding community is one of the best in the gaming world. Even a below average PC can play it and on a newer PC it runs in the hundreds of fps. Have been playing the ARMA series since Operation Flashpoint and continue to support its DLC and mod creators.
Excellent piece. I both admin servers for a commercial site as well as run my own Antistasi public server. Good points all around. Going on 15,000 hours of value achieved. :D
Arma 3 is an amazing game, and will always hold a special place in my heart. It has such an amazing and active community and I love giving back to the community which is why I host 3 of my own heavily modded servers and it's just always a lot of fun when you get a good group together.
Apropos bullet pen. Was a real eye opener to see GarandThumb shoot various rounds through dry walls... Really great reminder why gun safety is so important. Even around the house. Especially around the house.
I got in on ARMA on arrowhead because of the Dayz mod, I was just waiting around for friends to play one night about 5 years after I started playing Dayz and decided to load up takistan life and got hooked instantly then that got me onto king of the hill and a lot of other modes in the game
ARMA Jank isn't the movement of the character. It's when, for instance, a vehicle hits a small bump in the road and the physics engine catapults it into oblivion.
That's a common thing with Military Simulators, not being able to see the enemy. It's a real phenomenon too, watch any documentary from US Military Bases or Operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.
15:48 yup, when arma 4 comes out alll mods made for reforger will get ported. Meaning now people can learn how to code in enfusions and port their old mods to it so when the day comes they will be ready.
I think is funny how i play arma 3. I use the eden editor to create my own war history with always a perfect time line. It’s more like a role playing lol
I love arma 3 so damn much, I don't really care if A4 ever comes out. Unless my friends and favorite mods choose to leave and go to it, I'll stick with A3.
I've clocked in 30,000 hours on my Steam account but obviously its not nonstop playing. Its mostly me fucking around with the editor, building scenarios, play testing it, looking up scripting and tutorials on forums and youtube, and then I'll go off to work or something and I'll just leave the game running (sometimes almost over a week!) And also that's over a span of 10 years of owning the game since launch.
really love the video, shows exactly how great ArmA can be, but i gotta state one thing, as an ArmA 3 milsim and altis life enjoyer i gotta say idk what server you played on that you got RDM (random deathmatch) with people killing you with no roleplay whatsoever, theres usually rules for how you need and can kill people, and also just a protip: robbing stores is basically the worst way of making money in altis life servers ;P anyways, keep up the good work!
don't blame you, when I first got it I did get a little frustrated I couldn't use some of the stuff in multiplayer games without the right DLC and having the annoying screen overlay, but managed to get most of them on sale
1,500+ hours in, and I learned how to center the map on myself. This is after learning some scripting, how to make scenarios for a few game mode mods. (Arma commander and ALiVE.) Usually when I post this, I get veteran arma players with way more time and years than I, asking me how. This will seem goofy I ever missed this for so long... But its the circle at the top right when you open your map.
I always love Arma 3,since when I watched frankieonpc, I always want to make campaigns like call of duty Feeling, the editor really entertained me alot, but sadly the Thorn of Arma Is The performance and Goofy ai, but I always come back.
finally a recent review that isnt "game bad- get killed instantly" only thing i really disagree with is the single player thing- yes the campaigns arent award winning or THAT replayable but just quickly going on steam you can find infinite random scenarios which work in both single and multi. I have probably spent 50 or more hours (thats a lot for me) in NUTWK- so yes you def. miss out on a lot of content if you dont play multi- but its not wasting money. anyway good review!
I think arma 4 needs to incorporate arma 3s content, as getting people off 3 and onto 4, which would obviously launch with a severe content deficit vs 3, would be a hard sell.
in arma 3 your gaming experience is at the mercy of the game engine, the harder you try to win the more aggresively the game engine will try to stop you having fun by any means necessary
@@mattmcdonald4033 i tried to climb over a 2feet tall chicken fence but instead ended up flying over 100 meters and dieing from fall damage which caused me loosing 200k in altis life
I went on holiday to the real Altis Island (Lemnos), just to see Arma 3 in real life! Now I have weird overlapping memories of the game Island and real life Island.. 😅
Not a bad summary. ARMA can cater to almost ANY game mode you want and every playthrough will be different. I'm completely opposite to you, never played the life servers and love the longer capture the island missions.
arma 3 is my go to fuck around game. want a 40k experience? pop my tiow mod list. want a star wars experience? pop my SW mod list. want to fight eldritch horrors as a random cop over his head? you guessed it pop the mod list. the one thing about the game running rough is it's dependence on CPU more than GPU which really bogs some systems down. but over all if you can think it you can play it in arma 3
4:36. I dont know we had that clip of a Osprey from Arma2 that was used by a Japanese news site (blogger) as evidence why Japan should not let that thing fly in Japanese air space.
Omg I've played this so much. Even made a video with respectable numbers on it to, once I bothered lol. These days I play mostly Squad, however, because it's frankly just quicker to find a match. But I kinda miss KOTH tho. But they reset it, so I had to start the grind all over so I quit lol. Would've been fun to join a real hardcore milsim clan tho, but I could never find the time...
I brought this on a sale with a few expansions so I could play the overthrow map solo. *Which was fun till I hit some walls being a solo player* wasnt brave enough to enter any servers tbh.
I know the broken feeling you're talking about. Broken computer desk to be precise. Anyway, I'm part way through breaking another desk and TBH the only game that makes me RAGE is chess. First person shooters I pace around instead.

Try adjusting your in-game graphics settings to like "object details" to low and leave some of them at high as well. You can Look up other people's settings for this on Google or whatever search engine you use. It helps to see better through trees and grass and stuff. It's worth a shot?
It helped me on pvp servers. Like the New York server.
I have to say Skyrim and Fallout have the similar feeling where you can just mod it to hell but nothing comes close to arma running about 28 to 55 FPS just the variety and you can learn how different jobs I used to be on a Scout and mortor team in Arma
just a suggestion when you make a video like this show us the list of Multiplayer Servers so we have an idea of how many people are playing
I have around 1,770 hours in Arma 3 and only 1 hour is in multiplayer Arma 3 is great👍
This makes me feel glad that I bought DLC's
Played Arma 3 since 2017, I loved it and made a lot of memories
Excellent piece. I both admin servers for a commercial site as well as run my own Antistasi public server. Good points all around. Going on 15,000 hours of value achieved. :D
Seeing Arma thrive like this makes me wish Operation Flashpoint Red River had this much love.
Once u start playing arma u know there is no coming back
Arma 3 is an amazing game, and will always hold a special place in my heart.
3:32 your welcome
I live and breathe Arma 3, it has given me the freedom to create what I've always wanted. Now I have more friends than I could have ever imagined
If you want to buy this game, wait for steam summer sale!! It's at like 2.79€
My only problem is that its hard to get into actual good servers because they require extensive applications
Biggest issue imo is the lack of good servers
I think is funny how i play arma 3. I use the eden editor to create my own war history with always a perfect time line. It’s more like a role playing lol
Need to buy this in the next steam sale
I love arma 3 so damn much, I don't really care if A4 ever comes out. Unless my friends and favorite mods choose to leave and go to it, I'll stick with A3.
*Absolutely love the game and keep playing. Just love going in editor and having my own fun with all the mods*
I've clocked in 30,000 hours on my Steam account but obviously its not nonstop playing. Its mostly me fucking around with the editor, building scenarios, play testing it, looking up scripting and tutorials on forums and youtube, and then I'll go off to work or something and I'll just leave the game running (sometimes almost over a week!)
And also that's over a span of 10 years of owning the game since launch.
really love the video, shows exactly how great ArmA can be, but i gotta state one thing, as an ArmA 3 milsim and altis life enjoyer i gotta say idk what server you played on that you got RDM (random deathmatch) with people killing you with no roleplay whatsoever, theres usually rules for how you need and can kill people, and also just a protip: robbing stores is basically the worst way of making money in altis life servers ;P
anyways, keep up the good work!
Appreciate that you covered Unsung, F/A-18 and SOG PF :) Thanks!
11:30 - 11:47 - You aimed properly but your barrel was pointing at barrier :) AImpoint vs. bore, I love arma.
The real reason why it won't loose its player base is because Arma works with defensive contractors. They use it to simulate ground vehicles and such
I love this game so much i bought every dlc and cdlc
don't blame you, when I first got it I did get a little frustrated I couldn't use some of the stuff in multiplayer games without the right DLC and having the annoying screen overlay, but managed to get most of them on sale
Arma is like crack
You hate it, you hate yourself for doing it, but you keep going back to it
Bought this for like 6 bucks on Steam the other day. Best money I've ever spent on a game easy
Bro marked the ad as "uni payment" lol
gotta pay it off some how
That gave me a good laugh!
Best game series
just purchased arma 3 2 weeks still havent gotten around to play but when i do, boy do i know it will be good
Uni Payment as sponsored section got me😂😂😂
arma 3 is one of the biggest tactical shooters ever made, and despite it being ten years old , the frame count is still incredibly low
No way
I always love Arma 3,since when I watched frankieonpc, I always want to make campaigns like call of duty Feeling, the editor really entertained me alot, but sadly the Thorn of Arma Is The performance and Goofy ai, but I always come back.
Great stuff, thanks. I never heard of Amra 3 before. This looks awesome :)
As a 7 footer I died laughing when you talked about the movement 😂❤
finally a recent review that isnt "game bad- get killed instantly" only thing i really disagree with is the single player thing- yes the campaigns arent award winning or THAT replayable but just quickly going on steam you can find infinite random scenarios which work in both single and multi. I have probably spent 50 or more hours (thats a lot for me) in NUTWK- so yes you def. miss out on a lot of content if you dont play multi- but its not wasting money. anyway good review!
Arma3 will live forever in our hearts.
I think arma 4 needs to incorporate arma 3s content, as getting people off 3 and onto 4, which would obviously launch with a severe content deficit vs 3, would be a hard sell.
When your Aussie accent makes Egg Hunt sound like "Eh, Kunt". :D
Arma 3 is like fine wine, it just gets better with age. Better
Still learning new things about this game-- you can zero your weapon!
Yes, though it depends what your using too.
in arma 3 your gaming experience is at the mercy of the game engine, the harder you try to win the more aggresively the game engine will try to stop you having fun by any means necessary
Which causes you to have more fun
@@mattmcdonald4033 i tried to climb over a 2feet tall chicken fence but instead ended up flying over 100 meters and dieing from fall damage which caused me loosing 200k in altis life
I went on holiday to the real Altis Island (Lemnos), just to see Arma 3 in real life! Now I have weird overlapping memories of the game Island and real life Island.. 😅
When the fuck did we loose Lemnos?
Not a bad summary. ARMA can cater to almost ANY game mode you want and every playthrough will be different. I'm completely opposite to you, never played the life servers and love the longer capture the island missions.
Cam lao nam isn't a vietnamese name. It is the abbreviations for the 3 countires that are included in the map. Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam
i can't believe I didn't realise that lmao
Why ArmA 3 is great

There, I saved you the whole video
arma 3 is my go to fuck around game. want a 40k experience? pop my tiow mod list. want a star wars experience? pop my SW mod list. want to fight eldritch horrors as a random cop over his head? you guessed it pop the mod list. the one thing about the game running rough is it's dependence on CPU more than GPU which really bogs some systems down. but over all if you can think it you can play it in arma 3
I just bought it for 6.99 euros and it is worth every last bit of the money
absolute bargain
this game is so good that my dad literally spent over 4.300 hours on this game i also startet to play this master piece a lot
"WHY ARMA 3 IS GREAT!" (quite literally has squad as the thumbnail)
Just got it and I’m bloody loving it
4:36.
I dont know we had that clip of a Osprey from Arma2 that was used by a Japanese news site (blogger) as evidence why Japan should not let that thing fly in Japanese air space.
The clip from 0:31 is from strayagaming server right? I recognized that camo texture on the sleeve.
I’ll say playing arm 3 for 1400 hours only and I mean only on the editor I can say this game isn’t just a sandbox shooter it is the SANDBOX
the british camo suit got me good XD
I brought this on a sale with a few expansions so I could play the overthrow map solo. *Which was fun till I hit some walls being a solo player* wasnt brave enough to enter any servers tbh.
I know the broken feeling you're talking about. Broken computer desk to be precise. Anyway, I'm part way through breaking another desk and TBH the only game that makes me RAGE is chess. First person shooters I pace around instead.
Qwoting a frog: "arma will run at 20fps and u will like it."
I like ArmA best when I play it as a squad command sim
“Finically stable country of Greece”
My brother,Greece is in very big debt.
it was obvious sarcasm
6:07 You just described my life 😢 (not that I'm 7 feet tall)
I still love the Apex Tanou island map, but it fell off in favor with most server owners. The RHS mod is great too
Indeed, the only thing in this game graphics that really disappoint is the characters model animations.
