Arma is one of those games that is replay-able for years and years on end. I mean the game even came out in like 2013.

Coming from a Squad player this game looks intimidating, and I thought squad kinda felt like a job but this looks like vocal labor lol
Arma 3 is more sandbox-y
Squad is Arma but everything’s already set for you if that makes sense
This is about as 'mil-sim' as it gets, typically a public squad server is 10x more intense then most arma servers, its a sandbox so unlimited ways to play the game (gamemodes)
You talk pretty much every second you’re in the game, especially on Karma’s lib server. Wether it be talking with other squad leaders, talking with command, or just bullshitting with your fellow squad mates. It’s definitely a fun one, and you meet a lot of cool people.

I would love to see a new Arma. I know it's being developed (at least the engine for it to be developed on is there anyway). A next gen highly optimized Arma would be wild!

@@zackwilloughby9185 Then it should run smoothly on modern hardware, but sadly the netcode is dogass.. and all the assets are NOT optimised for sure. Try loading some of the worst culprits in the mission creator and watch the FPS chug.

Saddest part is that arma is not even a high-performance needing game, but the damn engine is so dogshit that even the latest GPUs struggle with it. If only arma was done on a good engine, this game would take over the market like never before
There is no difference in using the latest GPUs versus older ones such as the GTX 970, since ArmA 3 is not very GPU dependent. Most of the calculations - especially the ones causing most of the lag - are extremely CPU dependent. If you want to have ArmA 3 performing rather good, you'll need a good amount of CPU cores with high clock. The rest is fully dependent on the mission you're playing. You can have an outstanding CPU, but a poorly coded and non-optimized mission will consume your resources and cause the famous lag.

You don't need DLC if you join a server like this because all of what they use is added by mods. Apex is probably the best choice if you really want to. You will need Apex if you want to play on a server that uses its map Tanoa, and Contact if it's Livonia.
Other than that you can still use the DLC assets in game you'll just have some annoying popups from time to time that tell you to buy it.

Not really, you just get the modpack for a server and copy the files over in the mod menu and set a profile and you good to go
