Why Should You Buy Arma 3 In 2023, Is It Worth It & How Are The Graphics, Gameplay & Immersion?

With the World War 2 DLC Spearhead 1944 coming out soon (or maybe out by the time you watch this) I wanted to do a video guide about why & whether you should bother buying & playing Arma 3 in 2023.
Hopefully lots of people who have perhaps had their eye on Arma 3, but haven't dived in, will see the official World War 2 add-on, and seriously consider their first mil-sim game.
For me, if you're into military shooters, and have access to a gaming PC, then it's almost a rite of passage to work through learning how to play, getting pass the jankiness, and then becoming immersed in the amazing campaigns, scenarios and missions.

Reminds me of the old school ghost recon games
Ever since xbox 360 graphics came out it's always felt like a bit of a ceiling to me. I don't notice a huge difference in graphics above it other than how loud they make my 3070 roar. Arma 3 still has great graphics to this day in my eyes.

If you like arma for the singleplayer you should get operation harshdoorstop. Basically ravenfield if it looked and played like arma. I wish arma had more singleplayer stuff. I really love the project injury mod.
I still play the original Operation Flashpoint, it is still a beautiful game no matter the age.

Played this for over three years and more now the ever. It's important to mention that Arma 3 is basically like DCS World. It's not an actual game but rather a simulation platform on which anything from ad hoc missions to full dynamically generated campaigns can be created by the community (i.e missions/mods/scenarios/etc) and are available for others to download and enjoy. I'm only interested in singleplayer and Arma is amazing in the range of singleplayer options it offers. I mainly play Dynamic Recon Ops but many others exist. The graphics have also held up very well - might not have the shiny cinematic appearance of, say, the Ghost Recons but the world looks and feels real and the scale is enormous. Downside, bots can be a dumb depending on which game you play, weapons sway is a bit too much, no climbing over walls and no sneak-up-and-knife mechanics I know of, but there are mods to fix these. Just be prepared, as op says, to walk a lot and also find yourself in firefights where you can't see the enemy for love or money. That can be frustrating but it just taught me to be cautiously tactical and not rush in Battlefield style.

I remember DayZ started off as an Arma 3 mod but I actually have never played Arma 3, just picked it up on sale

Lmao I refunded. It was too much to get into, I feel like I missed the boat on this one. Doesn’t feel new player friendly. Also didn’t like I could not figure out how to change control to inverted y axis on a controller.
I need a good PC first, but damn man, those Halo mods are sick.

He is just listing off features to make a small thing look big .
Arma is a shooter with more options on your guns and a few cool toys like thermals and mortars and at and aa missile launchers . And they make you feel like you are using real stuff cause you have to choose the proper "ammo" (different numbers . Basically how fat is your rifle' hole) and put it in your inventory, where your clothes your kevlar and your bagpack have seperate inventory so it really feels immersive.
Mechanics wise you will not learn thing new.
The true thing he said is 1 large map. The large map of altis... Or tannoa or malden .. basically is the size of 20 or 30 battlefield maps but it feels like a island where people live and there are forests and stuff... You dont fight over the entire thing. Even if you could bohemia can't code for shit
At the end. Arma is a toy box. But not a game. And they know this. So the hook is the guns and the mods like antistatiz , or kp liberation or duws or evannex and such.
I dont like games not being games .. and relying on its players like skyrim.
Dont expect a lot. Or anything new . Because it will disappoint you.
But if you want a shooter with cool toys and lots of options get it
Tho i will make it clear... Any of these "milsims" dont properly render enemies beyond 50mtrs to simulate "camoflage" ... Real camouflage doesn't feel "wtf" it feels "oooohhh" ..
So all milsims always have binoculars
