    I ordered my Neo 3, waiting for it next week!

    I’ve got a NEO 3 on order. I already have two NEO 2’s. They are light weight, easy to travel with and have basically no recycle time. The battery lasts forever in flash mode. The wind doesn’t bother them. The only downside is they aren’t as bright as a strobe. If you’re outside trying to shoot a full length portrait in bright sun that’s going to be a problem.

      Definitely more of a close up fight the sun use i think

    Hello Vanessa I knew that once you tried the Neo 3 and the Aeos 2 that you would really like them. I haven't bought mine yet but after watching your video on them I am sure that I will be purchasing them very soon. Thanks for trying them out and I knew that you would be impressed by them as I am even by the Neo 2. Thanks Steve

    Hi Vanessa! It was so cool to meet you in person this year at WPPI and to get a picture with you. HIghlight of my trip lol. I actually have the first AEOS kit and they are great when using them indoors in tight spots like you did in this video. For outdoors I like them more for night shoots. Now I'm tempted to get at least one AEOS2 for my ever expanding light kit 😄

    Definitely brighter than their predecessors and I'm glad they switched the NEO 3 battery to the same one most of the other small LED panels use but I'll likely wait until later in the year when it actually becomes regularly available. I'm off that pre-order narcotic. At least they had the good sense to include that dome diffuser, although B&H does seem to offer a $50 cheaper bundle without it. Also you might want to emphasize people know that the trigger is not included so out of the box it can only be used as a video light

    Hey, Vanessa amazing video, I just came across these lights and was trying to research about them and this is the best video!! you covered everything that I need to know so thanks a lot :)
    Quick question, I am a real estate photographer and I want to start offering portrait sessions for my realtor's clients and before I came across these lights I ordered ( just yesterday ) a Wescott FJ200 Strobe and now wondering if I Should have gone for these lights instead? any thoughts would be really appreciated it

      They’re very different. Strobes are more powerful than these lights and what I would use for headshots for sure

      Our measurements are in Lux and F-Stops. The NEO 3 is Lux 5443 and
      F10 at ISO 100 at 3ft. AEOS 2 is 11,500 lux at 3ft continuous / F13. You can find this information and more on our tech sheets below the product listings on our website :)

    Too pricey for me right now but they look like very cool lights!

  • @NickDelDuca
    @NickDelDuca 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When these first came out they were 1/3 the price for the Kickstarter. It's safe to say they will drop down to that again once Rotolight realizes no one is going to pay their inflated prices. That's what happened with the previous generation of lights. I'm going to get a Neo 3 for sure but I will be waiting till its price drop.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or that kickstarter was the best possible deal, and inflation sucks?

    • @NickDelDuca
      @NickDelDuca 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VanessaJoy Rotolight tends to go back to their kickstarter prices after a while. They have a history of doing that. They did the same thing with their previous lights. They had a super cheap pre order deal then jacked up the price for a little while then brought it back down. I would blame it on inflation but it's just historically what this company does.

    Do you think the NEO 3 produces more light than the Profoto A10? Which would you choose?

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t do a side by side but they have very different uses I wouldn’t even compare the two of them

    • @rui1863
      @rui1863 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! no where near it. These are not very bright; traditional flash units are very bright for a very small amount a time and most dedicated speed lights are around 70ws. In flash mode they only flash at full power and at full power they can't even kill the ambient light in a given room. Just look at the camera settings being used and it is clear that these are not very powerful units. Let's see a photo taken at 1/250s, f/11 at ISO100 -- a speed light would be able to light subject without a problem. These are good for low light situations where you are trying to mix it ambient light -- first you meter the ambient light and then add in you lighting. These are also not good at stopping action; as it rely on your camera shutter speed which normally tops out at 1/8000s. The Nikon Z9 changes that as it top shutter speed is 1/32000s. In comparison my moonlight has a flash durations unto 1/63000s to be able to stop action using the flash unit. The Neo has a flash speed of 1/50s thus your camera has to stop the action and not the flash. These are interesting lights but can't be compared to traditional flashes.

  • @v3rlon
    @v3rlon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find these interesting. I just really want a chance to play with AEOS 2 before committing $1300 to them. How do they stack up to conventional 400W/S battery strobes at roughly 2x the price? Being able to set aside modifiers and gels would be nice, but I don't think I can completely wean myself off of those just yet.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't do a side-by-side but I don't believe they're quite meant to have the power of a strobe, but definitely a kick more than a typical video light

      @@VanessaJoy I use only for product photography, why do i need to crazy on LED's yes they have a advantage on colour RGB but thats all you try to put a 5ft mod on one then see how much you need to increase ISO and then freeze any action It would be good idea to show all you camera and lens settings. .and this is for a single person portrait try doing it with a family group and lets see if LED are better than normall studio flash. Dont forget you also have a modeling light in the studio flash so you see what the effects will be just as good.
