Good job! I had the A/C serviced recently...they had to remove most of the dash to get to the parts. It was working great then suddenly the HVAC buttons on the right side of the radio stopped working. I suspected a loose wiring connector and your video quickly showed me that checking this was just three snap-on panels away. :-) I removed the panels, pushed on the wiring connector and heard the tell-tale "CLICK". A/C is back in full control. Thanks, JP!

Hi. I just installed a new stereo in a 2008 avalon Linited(with jbl)with the pac and I can control AC and everything, but the AC info is not showing on the display panel. Did I miss a wire or a special harness?
Great video! Did you have to relocate the factory radio to keep the AC controls? (Subbed and repped!)
No relocation needed with that pac harness it helps retain everything
What if you want replace the sub and wire it separately with a different amplifer?
did the temp settings work, when used via the steering wheel controls like the radio?

I want to install a single din touch screen/bluetooth receiver and keep the factory door that I can close over it to hide the deck. I think The way it's covered with the factory setup is actually really nice.

I just want to be sure since it's hard to find information about this specific car sub-model, where people keep saying to relocate the Factory Radio to the Trunk.

Does it retain the amazing jbl premium quality audio? I am hesitant bc the original audio is incredible sound
If that original radio bezel isn't cracked, it's Gold. I would gladly pay $40-50 dollars for the original bezel.

How did you retain the HVAC controls when you removed the factory radio. Other videos claim you have to relocate the factory radio to the trunk to maintain its function.
Love your channel! You were able to hook up the radio without relocating the original radio in the trunk????? I'm so old that a radio used to consist of only a few wires. Black & Red wire, antenna plug, and speaker wires for connection. Lord Knows I'll be going to a professional for this mess. What state are you in???

Thank you JP. Quick question - you don't address this but the lower door we can all see in the radio - in many cases contained a cassette deck (my vehicle does). Do you have any recommendations for a head unit that allows that input as part of the aftermarket assembly? Did this hookup allow use of that input? I know, crazy, but I've got a lot of killer Denon Chrome jazz tapes and they still produce cassettes on Bandcamp. There were inputs with the original stock unit like CD - I'm curious if you have any suggestions for that, as well as HD radio. While the 2007 Avalon vehicle's premium system works well from the center back in this vehicle, the front passenger speakers are by the footboards, and weak in the mid and upper ranges - I'm not such what to do about that.... through using the existing speakers but adding a tweeter and replacing the head unit.
JP Thank you! Does the PAC harness work for Avalons that don't have JBL synthesis? I see something about relocating the factory radio to the trunk...
I think crutchfield details on this, but that pac harness only is meant for the 3rd gen Avalon's with factory nav or the JBL sound system, otherwise you have to use another harness to retain the center info screen.

Question: suppose you want to install a radio that utilizes USB connection for apple car play or android auto, how do you swap out the usb in the center console storage to the one on the head unit
I literally just made a video of that last week lol. th-cam.com/video/Q9ad2RLxDkY/w-d-xo.html this video shows a flush mount option that will work in a couple spots. You could also get a USB retention cable for your specific car but I've found that sometimes the cable is to short to reach the radio USB and/or it does work properly with transferring data.

@@xXKiNGK3VXx No sir. I did not relocate the old radio. After properly installing the adapter everything works just fine. I also installed a backup camera. You should have a problem with your heat, air, defrost, steering wheel controls etc. Happy installing!

I called crutchfield because they are selling the trunk harness set up still, and not this one you got here, with the vehicle specific kits. They are unaware of this working and they stock the part. They gave me a phone number for tech support of the PAC, Crutchfield asked if I would verify compatibility, The Man I talked to at support stated that the display may or maynot work with this, but everything else for sure will. I have a 2007. Then he thought a minute and changed it to maybe it's the later models ithe display has trouble with. have you had any issues? If not I'll report back to crutchfield that it works.
How did you install the PAC module for the AC/steering wheel controls?
just turn the dial on the side of the module for the radio your using. the guide will be in the notes on the pac paperwork

The you need to cut the wires and do new wires for the new radio, or it plug the way in the old one

I would stay in the 6.2 to 7 inch double din range and stay away from motorized units

Im tryna get a radio installed in my 2006 avalon limited. 3 places i went to me once i install an aftermarket radio, i will lose my navigation screen and it will just be blank. Looking at your video determines either they dont know what theyre are doing, or maybe its the type of aftermarket radio...most of the radios i inquired about were touch screens, not double den. Can u help me with this bro, i REALLY dont wanna lose the vintage navi lol

nope the wire harness i used helped retained what i need for the install. so no need to put the radio in the trunk. years ago i had to do that but not now

You mean to tell me that I could have gotten an aftermarket radio 3 years ago? That’s the ONE thing that I don’t like about my Avalon.
I have the non JBL version, I got the blue screen to partially work shows the mpg but doesn't show the hvac readings I can't tell the temp or the fan speed or the mode for the blower motor, any help on what wire to connect or disconnect? I'd appreciate it.
You need a PAC or the harness to run to your trunk and mount the stock stereo in the trunk
@@jamesmccracken4763 ,I have the PAC harness but on the 08 Avalon you still need the motherboard of the factory radio, so I went to Bestbuy and the Tech dismantled my factory radio and wired the motherboard into the harness now everything is working great.
Hi, did you get your screen to start showing the air conditioning?? Does your air conditioner run ok without it?
@@lukeroblee.backup9447 yes it runs ok without it but you can't tell what mode it's blowing in so you have to feel for the vent, which was annoying for me so I paid the $100 to have it show everything just like it was factory

I just got my wife radio changed and the guy told me he need a wire harness that was a hundred dollars and he said he still had to put the old radio in the truck 2006 toyota avalon and the left side of the steering wheel will not work he installed a Kenwood head unit with Bluetooth and back up camera help

How did you get your main screen to still work I went to a audio shop and they swapped my radio but my main screen does not work I asked the people was there a way to have the main screen still work they said no because I’m using an aftermarket radio and the stock is the only way that it would still work which I see is a lie if anyone has info can you please let me know thank you
its all in the new pac harness. the module keeps a lot of the factory features retained
