Thanks for the video, just finished my job. Took me about 8 hours total and about a half pint of blood from skinned knuckles, but it looks nice now! Good luck.

Can I install an amp and subs on my Avalon 06 without complications? Don’t want to mess nothing up, since Avalon is a bit complicated when it comes to moving something on the original radio , not putting in a new radio, just an amp and some subs
Do you have any recommendations for Android? Since the 1300NEX has been discontinued, all I can find are used or price jumped into absurd numbers. I'm kind of new to this kind of thing, so it's a lot to jump into. Thanks for the detailed video, and the list provided in the About section, by the way; super useful, and I'm grateful to have a solid starting place.
I have a 2007 Avalon Limited with nav and subwoofer. It has an additional 6+6 pin harness that plugs into the back of the factory headunit. I removed the factory 6+6 pin harness in order to plug in an eBay bluetooth adapter to the back of the headunit. With the bluetooth adapter installed, I press the "Disc" button, the display reads "Aux" and the bluetooth audio is routed to the door speakers, but audio is no longer being routed to the factory sub. The sub is still powered. If the bluetooth is connected and the music is paused and I turn the volume way up, a faint hum in the subwoofer gets louder, but otherwise no actual audio signal is being routed to the sub when music is playing. Same with FM or any other input, no audio is being routed to the sub under any circumstance with the factory 6+6 harness disconnected. I bought a 6+6 pin Y-adapter cable, so that I could simultaneously plug the factory 6+6 harness and the 6+6 bluetooth adapter into the back of the headunit via the Y cable... this made no difference. It still works as if I only have the bluetooth adapter plugged in. The only way to restore audio to the subwoofer is to remove the bluetooth adapter and plug the 6+6 factory harness directly back into the headunit. Then the sub works again, and obviously bluetooth is gone. Is there a way to have my bluetooth/aux input and factory subwoofer work at the same time?
I have aligned all of the cables and I have an extra solid blue wire coming off the long harness with no s9lid blue anywhere to attach it to - and I also have an orange black cable coming off one of the short harnesses with no matching cable. Are these supposed to attach to a different color cable?
In your video, the compartment below had a tape deck, my car has controls for the Navigation system. Is there any difference in the install? I imagine I'll use the Nav from Car Play, so does that compartment become useless? Did your tape deck continue to work?

Shaka Harrison - no I don’t. I have the JBL speakers too - and all I. Know is they sound way better with this new Pioneer than they ever did with the factory radio.
Nope, you will need to play with it a bit to get it to fit properly. Every radio slightly differs in bezel size so a little trial and error should yield a good result.
I have a 2008 limited with factory JBL. I ordered the Metra relocation harness, as well as the pac rp4.2 ty-11. Is there anything else I need to order to retain the factory amp, information screen, and steering wheel controls?
At 6:00 we learn that "...this display still relies on this [the old] radio." BUT What if I care nothing about preserving the function of the display? Disadvantages?
Disadvantages is you will not preserve the temperature indicators on the screen. You can get around this by purchasing the Idatalink maestro and purchasing a radio to display those temperature settings. It will cost a bit more in parts though.
Excellent, thank you. My current goal is finding the double din unit that works best with Android that I can plug in by usb as I believe that gives be the best possible audio reproduction. What is your view?
You need the the pac rp4.2 ty11. It will retain the center console display and also retain the steering wheel controls. You need to one or two connectors (if I remember correctly) of the pac to the Avalon's harness. You don't need relocate the factory radio thanks to the pac.
Great video thank you for your time.and effort. I will be going with the way of maestro. My question I have is I want to keep the factory speakers. How many of the 12 speakers will work with the aftermarket radio? Thanks again.
Well, if you have the JBL system, the factory amp will retain all speakers. Generally speaking, if you have the factory JBL amplifier, you will need to Use the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface.
Provo Beast Audio Installation I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon with the JBL system. I was thinking about changing to aftermarket radio and was wondering if you can do a short video on how to wire to the pac 4.2-ty11. Thanks again

@@ranyg6494 I have a 2008 Avalon, I ended up going to best buy with the factory radio, and the tech took it apart and wired the motherboard into the harness, it cast me 100.00, everything works like factory-installed
Does this lower the sound quality since you’re using a aftermarket stereo? Got the jbl system on mine. I know when I replaced my 05 mustang shaker 500 stereo with a cheaper aftermarket CarPlay stereo it lowered my sound quality. I also bought a harness to retain factory amp. But I could tell the speakers didn’t sound as nice
Nice video! Does the factory unit in the trunk have to be switched on and/or set to radio or disc?
Thank you great job man
I bought an avalon that doesn't have the factory radio in it. How can I do this?
Nice video
I have a question I have a 2006 avalon and it's has the navigation system
What type of harness do I need to get
Victor Saucedo check www.crutchfield.com
Their support team may be able to help you with that
Hey I have a push start limited edition will I still be able to do this? Also I wanted to kno if u made a video on installing the back up camera many people have not tried it on this make and model please get back to me ASAP
What it you have the cassette deck below the radio? Can I just ignore it and unplug it???
I installed aftermarket radio In my 2006 Avalon. I have the JBL amplified system so went with the PACRP4.2-TY11. The only problem I have noticed is the the FM reception is not as good as it was with the factory radio, I would say 30% less. I only used the bigger antenna plug and let the small one unhooked. I have read that there maybe a antenna preamp that needs power? Any ideas thanks
The harness adapter may have a solid blue wire on it, ensure that is connected. As an alternative, you can purchase an Antenna Amplifier and wire that in too which may help.
I used the RP4.2-TY11 and with a JVC KW-V840BT. I lost the HVAC and Stereo Display. Any idea why? I'd hate to to relocate the radio to the trunk. That was the whole point of buying the PAC. Any advice is appreciated.
I'd reach out to PAC as they claimed it would retain the Informant Display.
I like your video and appreciated the time you spent recording it however you didn't die where to mount the black side brackets and the location that you had them mounted, they looked 180 degrees rotated. Then alignment pin on the Metra 95-8215S kit didn't allow any screw holes to line up. The Pioneer instructions say to use the factory brackets but the radio sits a little too low and too far back. Any ideas?? Thanks! HJS
Inwant to know if there is a touchscreen radio that would still let me use thr factory panel so i can still close the door to hide the unit.
I'm having trouble with the steering wheel controls and getting sound from the new radio where did you hook in the factory speaker wire
Sounds like you may have the JBL sound system if you have no audio. Please see the parts list in the description to determine if you have the correct install parts for your trim level.
I have .a 2006 Avalon. If I want to use the navigation screen for a backup camera, can I cut a video cord and connect it to the black and yellow wire in the video?

I have the jbl synthesis system in my Avalon. Can’t seem to find the correct harness.
It's linked in the description!
Had to take it to a pro shop to get it finally wired correctly. The shop tech said nobody can wire this up with this video. I did save several hundred by running the cables and mounting the original radio, etc, but the actual wiring it ALL up is MISSING.
That's nice work 💯💯💯💯💯
Great video, thanks... just finished the install on my 2007 Avalon limited with the JBL Amp.. the correct Metra relocation cable has the connector and wiring pre-installed in the relocation harness... All I had to do was plug in the ASWC-1 module, and I now have full steering wheel controls!!! Hope this helps someone.....
Help lol I need to know if I only need the Pac radio replacement to use or so I still gotta use the aswc-1module or any of those cables he used in this video?!!!
I have the 05 xsl with JBL how do I bypass the JBL amp I have the same unit
Were you able to solve this issue?
Thanks so much for the video...I see it's 4 years old...hope things are well with you after the last few years...question..I have I believe the same avalon..mine..2010 xls..without the jbl sound...can't get xm on the radio..and no blue tooth..so I'd like to do what you did..are those parts still available?.thanks again
The 2011 radio besil and radio are interchangeable with your car. Bluetooth wifi and touchscreen as well as XM.
I have a 09 Limited with JBL AND without Nav. When I out in the part number for the relocation harness two websites say it doesn’t fit my Avalon. WTH
IF you have JBL, you don't need to relocate the radio as the PAC module does it all for you. Check the description of the video.
You have to get a module .you have a premium sound system which includes 10 speakers total . Your aux may only rate 4 outlets hence 4 speakers.
oh thank god for this THANK YOU

I have aligned all of the cables and I have an extra solid blue wire coming off the long harness with no s9lid blue anywhere to attach it to - and I also have an orange black cable coming off one of the short harnesses with no matching cable. Are these supposed to attach to a different color cable?
When would you want to use the PAC RP4.2-TY11? We have the screen above, so must we use the Metra 70-8215?
The pac kit is great when you have the factory JBL audio system. If you don't have JBL, you can use all the parts we did.
In your video, the compartment below had a tape deck, my car has controls for the Navigation system. Is there any difference in the install? I imagine I'll use the Nav from Car Play, so does that compartment become useless? Did your tape deck continue to work?
I'm preparing to do same install, and have cassette deck. Check out post #'s 32-34 in this discussion of replacing cassette with storage pocket, and pretty sure same would work to replace nav controls: www.toyotanation.com/threads/replace-cassette.243792/page-2
I have a 2006 Avalon with JBL synthesis. I believe I just need the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface. This should replace both the Metra 70-8215 Wiring Harness Adapter AND Axxess ASWC-1 that is used in non JBL systems... or am I missing something? Thanks!
Hey Chris,
Great video on the install!
I have a 2008 Avalon Limited w/JBL SYS. If buy the PAC RP4.2-TY11 wiring interface kit, do I still need the Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Module & Metra 70-8215 Wiring Harness Adapter Kit & will I still need to relocate the factor stereo, as per your video for the 2006-Avalon?
Also, is the 6.2" the widest screen I can put in my 2008-Avalon?
Your feedback would be appreciated!
Thx,
Justo
ASWC-1 isn’t necessary if you have the Pac harness.
Also any standard size double din will fit, regardless of screen size.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Understood...I will be returning the additional items that I will no longer need for my install. I went with Pioneer AVH-X4800BS 7" Display, can't wait to install the new radio & rear view camera.
Thx again Chris!
Do I still need the Micro-Bypass?...I did get a Pioneer Radio?
Can you add to your description a link to all the tools we need to complete this installation?
I've ordered the relocation harness twice because the first one didn't fit (Metra 70-8215AMP). It also didn't have 4 connectors so I thought I'd purchased the wrong one. Put the radio back in and ordered the Metra 70-8215. Got it today, tore stuff down and it's the same issue. I have a 2005 avalon but the connectors are different? Looking at the connectors coming out of the dash in your video at 9:07 those are different from what is coming out of my dash. I don't see a way to insert pics here but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about.
Do you have factory JBL? if so, we have notes in the description regarding that specific trim level.
Hey great video! I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS and I want to put in new speakers and 2 12inch subs in the back do I need to do all this or can I just use my stock head unit? I would love to replace the head unit but it looks like so much work to retain ac control if I replace it I'm afraid I wont do it right lol. I appreciate anyone's help out there
What if I have the navigation Info screen that comes on the limited model? Will the kit you used work as well or do I need another?
You need another. See the description of the video.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Hi I was wondering if you can do a write up of the install maybe with pictures? I couldn't figure out which wires you wired the microbypass wire to. And I couldn't figure out how you wired the AXXIS steering wheel control module. Thanks in advance.
Where did you get the plastic piece to make the panel a square?
Sonic Electronix, Amazon, Crutchfield, ebay, etc. Just about anywhere online.
Hi, great video. But there's no link for the backup cam install. Please help
th-cam.com/video/EzWUQXIGXrk/w-d-xo.html
Will anybody please help, I had this same thing mounted in my Toyota Avalon touring from a shop but the sound distorts everytime I turned up the volume to 8... But the volume goes all the way up to 60.....
Can you please explain to me the difference between using the metra 70-8215 and the PAC RP4.2-ty11
where did you get the long harness that connects to stock radio in trunk?
Do you have a tutorial on wiring the PAC module?
So if I'm installing ASWC-1 with pioneer double din my steering wheel control should work?
What about the back up camera that's what I'm trying to figure out
I put the camera wires through where the license plate lights wires goes through. I just took the rubber thing that hold wires off.
Thanks. I have a new mission!!!
Where are you located? I need one installed on my 09 Avalon. I have a double din I pulled out of my expedition just need all the wiring items you have and the dash kit.
Sure, we are located in Utah. Everything we used is linked in the description of the video.
Hello I got the long wires to relocate the factory radio but do I also need a amplifier interface harness for non jbl systems? Thanks
Question would it be possible to remove the top screen and move it down to where the factor radio was and then put the aftermarket radio on top where the climate control screen place. This way you have the after market on top and climate in the center
you could, but would require some fabrication, modification of the dash, and wiring. I don't recommend it.
@@ProvoBeastAudio oh so I can ruining my dash that way? Sorry total noob when it comes to things like this
can you tell me why my rear deck rattles a lot when i play music? like from the bass it rattles like i have 2 12” subs in the truck when i don’t lol. can you tell me why it makes so much noise? what do i do
I'll have to watch it a few more times to build confidence to do it. I may get confused with connecting the wires. I have an android phone. Does pioneer have an android version of this unit?
Yes there is a Pioneer new model that has both apply car play as well as andriod auto. I think it is the PIONEER AVH-2440NEX
@@martinandersen9810 I have the JBL Synthesis. Do you know what the differences may be?
Shaka Harrison - no I don’t. I have the JBL speakers too - and all I. Know is they sound way better with this new Pioneer than they ever did with the factory radio.
Provo: If you use the PAC interface do you still need to relocate the radio or have they solved that issue?
If using the pac interface, nope, no need to relocate the radio!
What happened if I don’t have the factory radio
I’m confused as to why you would need to keep the old stereo wired up and in the trunk, can someone explain why ?
if you don’t relocate the blue screen will no longer work
Whats the difference if you have the jbl system?
How do you know what holes to screw in the plastic brackets? Are they labeled Toyota ?
Nope, you will need to play with it a bit to get it to fit properly. Every radio slightly differs in bezel size so a little trial and error should yield a good result.
Could I use this same process with the limited edition avalon with the factory nav and jbl systems?
U'll have to use the pac relocation kit
I have a 2008 limited with factory JBL. I ordered the Metra relocation harness, as well as the pac rp4.2 ty-11. Is there anything else I need to order to retain the factory amp, information screen, and steering wheel controls?
pac rp4.2 ty-11 should do all that for you actually. It's pricey, but it's worth it.
Would you still need to relocate for a single din?
How much did it all cost with all the products to change the radio?
Great video wondering does this pioneer have navigation also? And how much would the radio and install cost if o had a local shop do it.
At 6:00 we learn that "...this display still relies on this [the old] radio." BUT
What if I care nothing about preserving the function of the display?
Disadvantages?
Disadvantages is you will not preserve the temperature indicators on the screen. You can get around this by purchasing the Idatalink maestro and purchasing a radio to display those temperature settings. It will cost a bit more in parts though.
Excellent, thank you.
My current goal is finding the double din unit that works best with Android that I can plug in by usb as I believe that gives be the best possible audio reproduction.
What is your view?
The Pioneer AVH-2300NEX is a great option and it also includes android auto.
Why not get an Android Head Unit
i ordered the wire harness for my 2007 avalon limited but it didn't fit two of the car wires, are there any parts that would fit?
You probably have JBL If so, check the parts list in the description which shows you what alternative harness you might need.
So if I have a JBL sound system, would I need a wiring harness to retain the center console display ? And not have to relocate my radio?
You need the the pac rp4.2 ty11. It will retain the center console display and also retain the steering wheel controls. You need to one or two connectors (if I remember correctly) of the pac to the Avalon's harness. You don't need relocate the factory radio thanks to the pac.
You got it. We linked everything in the description for ya.
I have the jbl model 2006 avalon so for me i do not need to relocate the radio with the RP4.2?
True
Unfortunately this wasn't a personal vehicle but essentially you wire it color for color to your new radio. You can either soldier and use heat shrink, or use butt connectors.
