Im looking to replace my 2007 Corolla with an 05 Avalon with over 230000 miles.. everything ive read has me believing it should be a trouble free car being it was maintained. Im excited lol
@@IamMicheTV I bought the Avalon I was talking about in my last post. It doesn't even have a check engine light! Been an awesome upgrade! Drives incredible.

Two years ago, I bought my grandson one for a graduation from highschool. Flash forward to 2023 and he's still driving and loving his 2001 Avalon. Loaded up with only 133,000 miles on it. Thanks for the video, I used this as a reference on what to expect when looking at the car I recently. Bought a 2010 Toyota Avalon Limited with 94,000 miles. Whoever had the car first put every option available on the car for the time, even some aftermarket stuff, like 35% window tint and an aftermarket Touchscreen. My absolute favorite part of the whole car though, is how the rear turn signal and tail lights. All of it lights up and not the common half of it is lit and half is a reflector.
My 2008 Avalon Limited is a gem. So quiet, and loaded with options. In addition to all the usual options, it has a reclining back seat, rear window power sunscreen, JBL stereo(awesome), and even has radar adaptive cruise control ! In 2008! Sadly it only has Bluetooth for phone calls, not for music playback, but added an aftermarket fix. I have replaced the alternator and a water pump. It has 175,000 miles and runs as good as new.
I have a 2001 Toyota Avalon with 265,000 miles on it. She is driving like a dream. I've gotten the oil changed when due; rotated the tires; and I've had regular maintenance done. I can't believe they aren't making this car anymore. I drove a much later one but it wasn't as comfortable so I'm keeping my 2001 Avalon. I can't give it up.
@jennybrandt5188 my 01 Avalon has 205k. I had it detailed finally. The carpet is beautiful- who knew. But I been obsessed with this car for like 7 years now. Drove it from NY to Florida literally like 12 times. I have an o8 and falling in love w it. But I can’t imagine selling this 01..

Make sure it was not sitting for long stints. Is the paint and interior perfect? For that price car needs to be perfection and have main fence records too. Of everything is a mystery is proceed w much caution Ore only worth it if; you have proof timing belt done and it’s perfection
Toyota switched to the 3.5L V6 with the new generation starting 2005. The engines in the 05 and 06 model have some problems, 07-12 models are safe bet for this generation
there is still a major design flaw with the VVTI cooler line. The 2007-08 had the line with the rubber section. I believe 2009 and newer did not. The cooler line is high pressure and has a rubber hose section in the middle of it that if compromised will cause the engine to lose all the oil very quickly. The solution is to replace it with the all steel line they put in the Lexus. It's not a huge deal, but definitely something to pay attention to.
I just got an Avalon not too long ago I got a 2007 XLS. It's on my TH-cam channel I love the car. This is actually a really fast car. It felt super-fast to me because I came from a 2016 Toyota Corolla. So this car is way more powerful. I'm loving it so far. I always get compliments on the interior of the car. People get in and they think it's sleek. They always say whoa. It's nice in here.
youandi06 thanks for the comment and to definitely surprises a lot of people! Be sure to like this video and subscribe for more content on the channel!
268hp very nice passing speed when wanted. And impressive since its fuel efficient, most in its category 3.7L and 3.8L held that hp @ 16 to 17 mpg in the city.
Bought my new Avalon 2005 XLS ,same body ,even same color ent/ext. as the one in this video. I'm still driving it to work today ,great car. (btw no hump in the rear floorboard, great feature)
I love my Avalon. I had a black 2005, Lance, and now have a white 2006, Pamela, limited. This car can move. It is huge inside and so is the trunk. The back seats in my 2006 do recline and I'd rather ride in the back, as it is super comfy! Why I bought another one? Bcs my husband was in it and was run off the hwy, at 70+-in the rain- off into a set of oak trees. He slammed on the breaks and put it in park so he wouldnt go head first. He wound up going trunk first. Thebentire back of the car buckled under and bent the car, all the way to the back of the front seats. So, had my hubs not reacted or known what to do, he could have been dead. I truly believe this car saved his life! All the airbags deployed and he was cushioned upon impact. He lost 3 caps off his teeth during the following week, and was a little shook up immediately after the accident, but is alive and well. And that is a true testament to how tough this car is and I will never own anything but a Toyota Avalon. I feel totally safe in this car. I miss the 2005, Lance, bcs he was beautiful and I think he was a bigger, heavier car than the 2006, but the hubs says they weigh the same and are the same size. Next, O want the 2011 Ltd :) just bcs it has more special features. My 2006 is loaded and I do love it. They are awesome cars. Glad to know they are made here. That's cool.
I just bought an 07 Limited this morning and I'm glad to hear I made the right choice from as many different sources in so short a time. I'm in love with this car already.
@@jefflugard5483 Have mine in the charging port in the forward compartment of the center console. I have the Limited, not sure if it's the same on all trims though.
lost my car to a ccar crash, but loved it alot. saved my life, forever grateful for that avalon 2006 xls same colour as your and the same interior as well !
I watched your video and you pretty much hit the nail on the head describing the vehicle I myself have known to 2005 I recently just bought a 2007 touring. The car is super solid it's more stable than my mother's 2009 Camry
Bought mine with 60, 000 mls on it in 2015 have only had 1 issue , the neutral safety switch went out at 78,000 ...besides that and a battery this car is flawless i strongly recommend this 2006 Avalon most were owned by more mature buyers and are in immaculate condition with low mls. Gteat review video... im now joining you channel, thx!
I have the 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS… and love it! Smooth, Spaces & Luxurious… The rear seat reclines back. The cabin is insanely quiet. When my adult sons were younger… they loved the ride!
My wife and I are original owners of a 2005 XL and love it. Though the paint (actually clearcoat) is shot but it still runs like new. Getting ready to pull the radio and replace it with an Alpine with Bluetooth for handsfree phone use.
My Mom has an 08 Avalon and just recently performed a tune up. Replaced with all OEM parts hoping it’ll be trouble free for the next 100k miles. The only semi major problem it had the temperature would increase at stop lights. Diagnose the the fans and noticed the condenser fan was defective. Replaced both fans and the Avalon is running at normal operating temperature.
I just got my 08 about a month ago and no problems at all except the other day I was driving it and I turned my a/c on and I noticed it was blowing out warm air I looked over at the temp gauge and it was way up on the hot. I'm taking it to a mechanic. I hope it's nothing major. Thanks for sharing because mines is an 08 too and it sounds like mines have the same problem your mom's had🌺
@@lasonialamay6786 Goodluck! If you can, try to avoid taking your 08 to the Stealership. They quoted my Mom over $1200. They told her it was the AC compressor was bad 🤥
I have a 2013 Avalon Limited and wish the rear had recliner to go back lol but i am in love with my Avalon and runs smooth at 172K miles. Easy maintenance and very spacious inside all around.
My 01 Avalon has 210,000 miles and I changed the timing belt recently and even did new struts in the front. Yes I spent almost $2000 on it but I have confidence in this car and she deserved it. Drives like new. In hwy she seem to be even better. I been babying it with synthetic oil changes and constant preventive defense. I also have an 08 I can’t decide which I like better.
I bought a used 2010 Toyota Avalon ....I’ve own a Toyota mini truck in 83 , the damn thing was rusting out before the engine ever went out ... but , back to the Avalon ...we had the upper class Avalon leather seats... I was getting a bunch of water in the interior , and will be investigating that all weekend starting with the ac drain hose , then move on from there . I checked all window seals door seals, they look pretty good . Anyway it’s 2020 now and it’s still a great reliable car , still looks awesome , black tinted windows awesome ride . Great MPG . Just upset that it had gotten very wet inside , I soaked up a lot of water , just gotta get the “moist smell “ out , maybe use the charcoal trick . But I know I will need to pull out the rug and pad . Other that that the 2010 Avalon is an awesome vehicle .
My 08 Limited was taking water in from the sun roof. Open the sun roof and run a small wire through the drain holes. I never knew there were drain holes til I looked very closely. Dry ever since.
Hey Paolo! I have loved Avalons and this gen from 2004-2012 is the best look. I am young and just out of college but hate sporty cars. I actually hate sporty cars due to their stiff rides and unbearable noises. I hear Avalons are isolation chambers that cut you off from the outside. No wind, road, noise etc and super smooth ride? I'm basically that type of person where my road trips aren't zippy but straight. It's winter here so roads are bumpy and poorly conditioned. Would want a smooth, quiet ride here rather than good handling. How do you feel this 2006 Avalon compares to the new 2019 Avalon and current luxury sedans? I subbed too! :)
Watson Lee thanks for commenting! Now for comparing other large sedans to the Avalon it would take both for demonstration cause there’s pros and cons for both sides. The 2019 Avalon in comparison obviously has all the safety features you will suspect to find in the competing class of Toyota. I know toyota introduced apple car play but don’t believe the 2019 has android auto (I could be wrong but from my last reading that’s what I remember standing out). As far as the ride between the 2006 and 19 I can’t give a fair comparison since I haven’t driven a 2019 however I did drive the 2018 model. Still a really good ride and I will say between the 2006 and 2019 Avalon They are close to the same ride quality but for some reason I thought the 2006 was smoother over bumps and was really relaxing. However the 2018 models handling was better and you could feel a little extra power. If you are looking for the best ride and suspension setup Toyota has to offer for their current model I will look into the 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybird Limited. Either way great cars but ultimate way to compare is drive both and see what your thoughts are between the two and ask for a road with some bumps on the test drive to see which passes your comfort. Hope that helps and again thanks for the subscribe if you will like I have other videos out and starting to offer more for the channel so please be sure to see the new content! Thanks again for commenting!
I don't have a 2005-2010 Avalon, but I do have a 1999 Avalon (my second car). It has over 160,000 miles, but I swear it idles and runs so smoothly sometimes I have to stop and hear it to make sure it's still on 😳
Nice video I have an 08 with 130k and up until recently it's been great, but in the last 4 months I've sunk about 2 grand into it with weird sh... happening. Consumer reports listed this Gen as 1 of the worst. Thoughts?
Yes I own a 2006 Toyota Avalon xls silver it is in ment condition with 110,000 miles on it. You are right this is the best generation of Avalons. This car is everything you decribed in your vidio. This car always feels like its floating on air when you're driving, it is very fast and quite. The leather interior is beautiful with all the wood accents on the trim panels. Glass sunroof with shade. This Avalon xls is loaded with accessories other vehicles in its class don't have. Also Toyota srarted making Avalons smaller as the years went on. Thank you for the video.
A couple of things were missed here. In this generation the carpeting has sound deadening material woven in to help keep a quiet ride. There is an airbag for the knees which no other Toyota had at the time. There is also a rear sunshade that comes up, but might not be on all models. Some of the models still had a cassette deck, even in 2005. The car was intended for an older demographic and business people that might want to listen to recorded meetings or manuals on tape. The limited also had ventilated (cooling) seats in addition to heat. Sitting on an air conditioned seat in hot weather is awesome. The limited also had memorized seats, mirrors, and steering wheel for 2 people. In 05-06, I worked at a Toyota dealership explaining all the features, bells and whistles after the purchase. The Avalon was my favorite vehicle to go over, except when a 70 yr old wanted to know how the GPS worked.
Just bought a black 2007 XL Avalon with 223k miles. Only one ding on the back left door, normal wear and tear on the front, runs like it only has 50k miles! Everything works (except for the drivers window switch controlling the front passenger window, just went out yesterday!). Paid $7,900 for it at a dealership (it was a freah trade-in, it was one owner for 16 years, had 61 service records on CarFax and no accidents! Extremely happy with it, one of the nicest cars I've owned!
I bought a 2006 XLS with 106K miles. Only problem is there is a crack in the dashboard padding (which was in it when I bought it.) My XLS is a little different than your father's in that instead of the navigation it has a cassette player where you video shows the clock cover. It is a great cruiser. Good on gas and extremely comfortable. I thought only the Limited version had the navigation/back up camera. Great video thanks.
I have a 2008 Limited with 349,703 miles, same engine and trans. Only issues have been an ABS module (known issue on some Toyotas), a water pump replaced, a stick coil or two, new shocks and struts. The engine uses NO OIL, have always changed it myself with Walmart 5w-30 synthetic oil with a quart OVER FULL. It gets 30 mpg on the interstates, about 20 mpg around town. Best car I've ever had. Bought a second Avalon several months ago, EXACTLY like this one except 2010 with 132,108 miles, at a grand theft price. It gets 35-36 MPG on the interstates at 75 mph. I have ALL the service and gas receipts with the miles notes on each car if you don't believe it.
Have a 2007 Avalon Touring.. Great car.. Just drove it from Az. to NM., Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Calif. and back. Didn't use one drop of oil! Smooth, and plenty of power if needed..
I wish they offered the front bench seating on these variants from 2006-2011. They are like town cars aside from that honestly and front wheel drive. At least 1995-2004 offered it.
I have that same car...bought it brand new in 2005!!! It currently has 233,000 miles on it and still going strong on the original engine and transmission!!! This car has been beyond reliable!!! It’s 15 years old and it drives better than some 2020 cars on the road today! It has the original hoses and belts and has never given me any issues other then buying a batteries....I did have the fuel injection cleaned once. It still has plenty of power and I plan to keep it until she quits!! We have 2 other brand new suvs on our driveway but I still enjoy driving my Avalon. Only thing it doesn’t have is all the bells and whistles of today’s cars. This is definitely hands down the best model of the Avalon!!! Toyota’s engineering is superb on this Avalon and I would recommend to anyone looking for a great reliable used car!! Shop carefully because the car is only as good as the person taking care of it!
I own a 2000 Yoyota Avalon XLS here in Victoria B.C. with 335,000 kms on it. The best car I have ever owned. I tried out a 2007 model and found it too big. Not at all the same feel or ride as mine. Other than regular oil changes , one new set of front brakes and a new set of tires mine has had zero maintenance required. I get terrific gas mileage on the highway. It is extremely quiet , has plenty of power and is very comfortable . The interior is real leather and shows little wear. I can't bring myself to sell this and decided to do a timing belt kit replacement and run it for another 100,000 kms as even the dash and layout is still nicer than any car I have driven. I keep looking for one with low kms of this generation but with no luck so far . The only reason I would consider changing is that I prefer a blue interior where mine is grey. Just love this car.
Oil Line: According to my understanding, for the 3.5L 2005-2008 there were some problems with the VVT oil line. Did you inspect yours? Did you have yours repaired? According to my understanding it is a 4hr job at the dealer.
siucbset pretty sure none of that was an issue for my father and never replaced. He now sold it so cant tell you further issues if there was any in honesty. The thing just need oil changes and tires for the most part lol. And if you aren’t already please subscribe and like! I have other videos be sure to check them out! Thanks for commenting
@@PaoloTheCarGuy, you will not know until it is too late. The rubber of the VVT-i hose ages with time, cracks and can cause a catastrophic dumping of the engine oil. Get it checked and make sure they replace with the tube for the Lexus ES350. By the way, 2012 model year is rated as the best year for Avalon.
@@HandyMan369, I had heard the Toyota fix was a different rubber tgat failed again, Then was told the fix for LEXUS was an all metal tube. Suggest for your car to search the Toyota Owners forum.
If anybody reads this this, I have a beautiful 2008 limited for 5 mos now 127K miles and just wanted to know what's the easiest way to tighten up the steering. I've read switching out the shocks can help. And perhaps lowering springs. Does anyone have any experience with swapping out these two items? I'm from the stanced club and I'm not looking to start replacing sway bars and all that, and have matured a little bit haha, however I miss the tightness of some cars from my past that I added modifications to to tighten up the steering while cornering. I have a knowing it's not a sport sedan but I would like to make it a little more sporty in terms of the way it handles
I have an 06 Avalon Limited with 163k miles. I live in VA & have driven to NJ & FL with no issues. Very comfortable & reliable. But rear sunshade doesn't work. New 1 costs $1100. Heard this is common problem. Can 1 be got aftermarket or junkyard?
I don't know much about cars or what xle means, But I bought the xle edition from a friend in super neat condition. Almost brand new. I wasn't prepared for how powerful this car really is. The V6 engine is very powerful. It's like I'm driving a sports car.
@zoggrog8823 I'll inform you. The rubber oil lines are now all metal. The water pump was redesigned. The idler pulleys from the earlier 2gr was replaced with a stronger pulley. The earlier vvti rattle issues were resolved. Those are the quirks that were resolved from 3rd to 4th gen. Sometimes, there are issues with OCVs even when the engine is well maintained. That's an easy DIY. Very reliable engine, but no machine is perfect.
I own a 2012 limited with everything in it from leather to sunroof to navi auto seats, backup cam, sunshade and it drives buttery smooth and one hell of a reliable car.You can`t go wrong with this generation of Avalon and yes mine comes with a wood trim steering wheel pure luxury.
I want to buy a used 2012 limited, but how can I upgrade the suspension to handle better or should I just get big rims with skinny tires to improve handling? I know the 2013-2015 handles better, but they have some minor issues and I hate the way they look.
I just bought an 07 limited with 111000. It's awesome. I hate the fact that it doesn't have an auxillary port or bluetooth. It does have a cassette player though. lol
Kenneth Michael im glad your enjoying it, these are awesome cars! And that Would’ve been nice lol. Also wanted to thank you for subscribing to the channel and hope you see some new content I brought to the channel! Enjoy your car
I just bought one too! 140k. I saw the tape on the radio. Where do you put the tapes in?? I have a Bluetooth cassette tape hahaha. And wanna listen to my beats.
I have a 2005 Avalon limited.I had it for 2years,never had a problem with until now. Some say ellectrical. But I think I just need a new battery. Its a push start button and I have only 130k miles.
Should I get and fm transmitter for the AUX port.? If I do get it from Auto zone and plug one end to the AUX port, where do I plug the other end since I use iPhone 7?
Here are 7- reasons why a 2006 Avalon XLS is a lemon. The dash board quality vinyl- material cracks all over. The Ignition coils are so bad they need changing after 74k miles and it's not cheap to replace and install.them, and the hood support shocks need replacing after 27k miles. The radio reception goes bad on the AM side. The spark-plugs are a pain in the ass to replace and very expensive. The headlights are of inferior quality. The tinting you get is just not any good when you drive under the sun.
In loos this gen Avalon is the nicest Toyota has come up with, wish I had one. I do have a 2002 XLS and its nice on the inside and I changed the outside to look more Buick like by putting white walls and wire hub caps, looks real nice to me. Got a video of it on my ch for reference.
I own a 05 limited and it's one of the best cars I've ever owned I've had it for awhile now and there are some thing on it I still dont know how to work it but all in all I'm very pleased with the car it takes off from a stand still like a bat out hell.

Beautiful 2006 Toyota Avalon and I really like the color and interior.

Mine is a XLS 2012 with 130000 km, still drives and feels like I just bought it! 💎
I love my Avalon it was my dads and he gave it to me it’s amazing 😻
Congrats, that's very nice of him.

Why not simply explain to the 70 year-old how the GPS works, instead of getting into a huff? Not everyone is savvy with technology.
I’m thinking of buying one this weekend…have the choice of 05 and 06…do you recommend anything and what are the different classes please?

Thanks! That's the ticket.
I'm thinking from 2005 and up the 3.5 engine has a chain instead of the belt so no worries about changing a timing belt

About to buy one…trying to figure out what the issues are!

I drive a 4th gen Avalon (2016). Same engine as the 3rd gen, but all the quirks have been fixed. Great car!
Not sure what "quirks" you speak of the gen 3 avalon was the MOST reliable generation
