Thank you for posting this lifesaver ❤ just bought a used one and the noise backing up drove us nuts the first 10 minutes owning it. Glad the fix is simple and easy!
I had another person sitting in back to push the rear shade down when it started to make the noise. Then I shifted the car into the park position and pulled the fuse out like the video showed. Now the shade stays down permanently. Video was great help thank you!

I have a 2008 Avalon Limited as well. The shade has stopped functioning and I was quoted $1200 for the replacement part. After a good deal of research I find this has been a chronic problem FOR 10 YEARS WITHOUT HAVING AN APPROPRIATE SOLUTION. I can't believe Toyota has let this continue. We love the car and Toyota but this in unbelievable.
I agree. Just bought my '06 Avalon yesterday, rear shade already stuck up. This is a well documented, widespread issue. Should be a recall, as it presents a safety hazard for drivers at night to have the shade up.
Yep, Toyota should be ashamed! I had a 2008 Limited that had this same problem. Had to disable the shade by removing the fuse, which caused me to lose my clock and dome lights. Purchased a 2011 Limited 2 years ago and the same problem occurred 2 weeks ago! Toyota has had 13 years to correct the problem. UNBELIEVABLE!

Brilliant, I've been having this problem for a few weeks now. I was just about to spend the next 3 hours taking apart the whole back of my car to get to this shade and disconnect from there. Thank you for saving my afternoon.
I got a 2012 Toyota Avalon, I usually press the shade button to stop it from making any noise but this is useful. Definitely going to try this
This solves my problem! Thank you. My Avalon is 2005 and has dedicated fuse.
Test your cruise control and other funnctions if you do this my daughters 07 Avalon xle cruise control and electric seats stopped working also

Thanks a bunch. I have this same problem. My 2007 limited is stuck in the down position and every time I put it in reverse after starting it makes that horrible buzzing noise. It drives me nuts and is quite embarrassing when I have friends or family in the car with me. Great car other than this silly issue.

Report the defective sunshade to the NHTSA for recall due to poor visibility during night driving with the curtain stuck in the upright position.
Agreed. This should be a recall. I have the same problem on the '06 Avalon I just bought yesterday. Was fine when I bought it, but now stuck in up position.

I have a 2007 Avalon limited and the sunshade is stuck. It will not come down and when you put it in reverse it sounds like a Gatling gun….so frustrating and the shops don’t have a clue how to fix it and I dread going to a dealership because…well you know how they are. 😞

This is not a good solution as it also disables the CRUISE CONTROL!
This worked perfectly for disabling that loud racket. No impact to cruise control or signal lights that some have said would be affected. This was on my 2006 Avalon limited edition.
@@bonnerken I have a 2013, my shade is stuck in the up position, I will never bye another Toyota, leather is peeling on arm rest, 40,000 just gone.
@@bonnerkeni have the same year and model. Can you please share your experience. I am new to cars. Can you please share any better video or set of written instructions to locate and disable the fuse without messing up with other features of the car.
Don't do this, it disables your blinkers as well
