This is pretty late but it seems that you have to constantly restart the davinci resolve program in order to import your videos to the media pool. That is what worked for me on my pc.

DR can be finicky about imported files. I think it's more of a codec issue (h264/265/av1) than the container type (mp4, mkv). I use either Virtual Dub 2 or AVIdemux to quickly transcode the file to something else. FFV1 (lossless) for short clips or h264 for larger clips.

ANOTHER FIX: Imported a batch of images but a handful wouldn’t import & file name wasn’t the issue. Discovered some images were RAW format, the others that worked were JPEG. So I converted the format & they imported perfectly (on iPad, Files app now lets you convert formats. Add files to Files, long press, tap the menu with the wand, tap convert, select what file type you want to change to). Hope it helps someone

(My video files were originally .mp4, but I converted them to .mov because I was having trouble importing mp4s into Da Vinci and I read that .mp4 *video* files weren't supported.) Now the .mov files won't import either. I'm so confused! Please help! Is it just glitchy? Or am I doing something wrong?
of course it wont. You cannot just rename it. MKV and MP4 are containers that hold video tracks, audio tracks and subtitle tracks. They have different formats, so they can't be interchanged simply by changing the extension from ',mkv' to '. mp4

It's so stupid that Davinci doesnt show any error log with problem like this. I had a youtube video I wanted to import and I tried this and many other ways to fix it: different formats, encoders. etc. In the end the problem was that the video had an emoji in its name 🙃

The file I'm trying to import is a MP3 and it's not working.
If it's got emojis in the name it won't import. I just removed them and it worked! So make sure files only have text, not emojis or just shorten name.

Divinci is pretty fussy for something so highly regarded. My Windows 11 media player can play MOV and some MP4's that DaVinci converts to pure audio.

Maybe check your timeline settings, if they are set to 60fps it could make problem for other type of media.

In my case some special symbols in the title of the files were the problems.
