    • @Projectlife2023

      It should be a single piece. As far as if you can reconnect them, you might be able to. What broke? The plastic tabs? Honestly, the switches aren’t too expensive, especially if you order an aftermarket one. I’d probably save the headache and just replace.

    Since you reattached the shroud after replacing the wheel, one wonders if it is possible to replace the stalks without removing the wheel at all? Sure, removing the cables and releasing the clips on the stalks may be a little more tricky.

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you notice, the top screw holding the multifunction switch is directly behind the clock spring. You would not be able to remove this screw without removing the clock spring. Only way to remove the clock spring, is to remove the steering wheel.

    Great guide but now I'm getting squeaking when I move the wheel (not slightly more like If I was making a full turn or UTurn. Did I goof up the clock spring? I was sure I put it on right

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Laura Newton I would double check that the plastic steering well cover is installed correctly. If the tangs don't line up properly it can cause a noise issue. If the clock spring was damaged the airbag light would be on, the horn would not function, and the steering wheel buttons would not function. Also check to make sure the clock spring is fully pushed back.

    I have a 2012 kia sportage and the driver side tail light does not work. I replaced bulbs and nothing. I can get it to work but once I close the hatchback it shuts off again, I have a brake light and turn signal on that side but the tail light will not work, also I can see it get power for just a split second than turn off. Could this be a indicator of a bad headlight turn signal switch?

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like an issue with your wiring. More than likely the bulb socket itself. You can use a 90* pick to pull out the contacts and see if that cures your issue.

    Hi, thanks for the great video.
    I have a 2011 Kia Rondo and I am hearing a rapid clicking noise from near the turn signal indicator on my car, even when the indicator arm is in the center (off) position.
    The turn signals work normally and the noise stops when signaling. When in the center position, the signal lights are not flashing, just the rapid clicking noise.
    If I push up slightly on the signal arm, the noise stops.
    Any idea what possible issues could this indicate? Thank you!

    Thanks for the video. A friend of mine has a Soul, and when she depresses this switch to turn on the high beams, they will sometimes flicker on & off while she's driving. Also, the front left turn signal bulb occasionally doesn't flash, even though I know it's a brand new bulb. Do you think these issues could be related to the turn signal switch going bad? Or a problem with the wiring harness? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be the switch or the clock spring. I’ve seen both be a factor. If it has issues while turning the steering wheel, then it’s the clock spring. If not, it’s the switch assembly.

    Hi, I just replaced the turn signal switch on my 2013 Kia Soul. Before I replaced it today, every time I tried the Left blinker it would pop the 10A fuse. The Right blinkers work with a good fuse. So I unplugged the left headlight assembly thinking it might be there, but it still pops the fuse. I did the same in the rear light, still pops the fuse. So I thought it was the signal switch and replaced it but it is still popping the fuse when I hit the blinker lever down. Any suggestions?

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me pull up a schematic tomorrow at work and gather some thoughts. The fuse would only blow if the current draw surpasses the fuse rating. This is going to be caused by unwanted resistance. Such as a socket that has arcing or corrosion. Let me ask you this, with both the headlamp assembly and taillight assembly unplugged, does the fuse still blow?

    • @kevinlacroix6074
      @kevinlacroix6074 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This morning, first, I unplugged both LEFT headlight and taillight assembly, I tried the left blinker and it blinked fast, I was excited. Turned key off, replugged both and it worked, until I tried the Hazard and then it popped again. Unplugged both assembly, put in new fuse, tried left signal with both unplugged and it popped the fuse. Can it be the RELAY ASSY-STOP SIGN, part number 95240-1P100, I am not a mechanic, just trying to troubleshoot and figure out why this is happening. The Kia dealership said the left headlight assembly is aftermarket and that could be the problem, but it all worked this morning for a few minutes until I hit the Hazards to see if they would blink.

    • @kevinlacroix6074
      @kevinlacroix6074 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, i unplugged the RELAY 95240-1P100 and the right signal worked but the left popped the fuse, so i plugged it back in and eliminated that option I guess. Went through more unplug front and try the blinker, nope. Unplug back and try the blinker, nope. unplug both and try the blinker, nope. Went thru about 5 more 10A fuses but had to try. I'm out of thoughts and have no clue. Stopped by and auto electric garage, guy says it may be a pinched wire somewhere. Once again, I'm lost to what it may be. But it did work this morning until I pressed the Hazard. I had a moment of hope lol. Maybe I should have left it alone when it was working.

    • @kevinlacroix6074
      @kevinlacroix6074 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, one more update. I disconnected the negative side of the battery for about 15 minutes while checking the connection of the headlight assembly. I ensured all 9 connections were good to the assembly. I reconnected the battery, put another 10A fuse in, and the LEFT blinker works and all the lights work. I DID not push the Hazard light, not going to either. HOWEVER, I have a ABS and traction symbol warning on after I start the car and they won't go away. This is crazy, or at least I have no clue what's going on. Any suggestions?

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure why your ABS and traction control light would be on after simply disconnecting the battery. You would have to have a scan tool read the codes to see what errors it’s posting. You can also try a capacitor discharge. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove it completely from the battery. Then use a wrench to jump between the negative battery cable (NOT the negative battery post) to the positive battery post. This discharges any electricity left in the vehicle in capacitors.

    After this procedure, the left signal would intermittently not cancel. The right signal always cancels. So I got a second replacement (different vendor) and the same thing, intermittent left turn cancel.
    Put the original (bad headlight switch) back on, consistent correct cancelling.

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MoNsTeR420x1 The switch could be shorted itself. I would check continuity on the pins on the multi-switch while the switch is in the right turn signal position (switch unplugged of course) check for continuity between the output for the right turn signal and the output for the left turn signal. However, the fact that it doesn't happen in the left turn signal position would also lead me to believe it may not be a short at all. A short to power would cause both circuits to be activated regardless of which is turned on. Check a schematic, I believe the multi-switch goes to the BCM or IPM to handle the turn signals/hazards and could very well be the issue at hand. Best of luck.

When I turn the switch to the first click, it makes a short high pitch buzzing noise, no parking lights turn on and the license plate light doesn’t turn on too. It has the LED type bulbs. I’ve been on the KiaSoul forum looking for help to solve this issue. It’s not a ground issue, others stated it might be a column switch or a column plug. That’s how I landed on this video. Need help. I live in Hawaii and my safety check is coming up soon. It’s been like this for about 8 months.

      I no longer work for KIA, but be sure to check fuses as the parking lights will be a separate circuit and should have their own fuse separate from the headlights.

    So my gf wiper switch snapped and is hanging by cables do you have to remove the steering wheel entirely to swap those our it seemed all you had to do was hit the lever to pull the switch off is that only accessible once everythings completly off or if i had small enough tools could i just pop those screws out drop the bottom cover and swap it out?

      It is encased (surrounded) and will not come off without damaging components if you do not remove the steering wheel.

    Hello, your video is very informative and I appreciate the detail; I just wanted to ask if this applies to my car. My left parking light remains on after the car has been turned off (Kia Soul 2011) . I turned the auto lights off and it went out, but the next morning the battery needed a jump. I was wondering if this applies to my issue? Thank you for a response.

      +kay glo Well, it could. But it more sounds like a possible short issue or parasitic draw.

      No problem. If your battery continues to drain over night, you can isolate if the switch is the concern by following this video and unplugging the switch. If the battery doesn't die overnight, then you have isolated the issue. The more proper way would be to do an actual parasitic draw test. However, this would allow you to in fact isolate it to the switch assembly itself. Please note, that if you vehicle is still within the manufactures 5 year/60k bumper to bumper warranty, it would be in your best interest to just take it to your local dealership for diagnostics and repair if needed. Best of luck and please let me know what was found to be the concern. Take care.

      See if your blinker was left at a turn position (and not the neutral position). I had another vehicle in which one of the parking lights would stay on even if everything was turned off, and it would depend on which turn direction the blinker was latched to.

    Oh man, I was hoping it wouldn’t be where you have to remove the steering wheel… 😰 I was wondering why the dealership wants $500 to replace a $60 part. I was like, I’ll just do it myself…. Nope

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I only recommend doing it if you feel comfortable doing it. I don’t feel it is a difficult job, but you do need to make sure you tighten the steering wheel nut tightly. You don’t want that coming loose when you’re driving.

    you shouldn't use a metal screwdriver to separate the plastics, that damage and mark it. Small details of a "amateur" mechanic

    • @Projectlife2023
      @Projectlife2023  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And you are a professional mechanic? Your videos would not suggest that. There is no damage to the plastics if you know what you are doing. lol.
