Doing this tomorrow. Thanks for a comprehensive walk through. Dealer wanted $283 for the part, I got the OEM part for $35 on EBay. The Dealer total bill with labor would have been just over $400. Thanks again!
Update: Completed in less than 1/2 hour. Only difference in my 2012 Sonata Limited is a 22mm for the steering wheel nut. Perfect walkthrough, Thank you!
Worked perfectly for a 2014 Sonata, as well. Took about 20 minutes for this novice to complete the task by following your instructions. Saved me about $600! Thank you!!!
What an OUTSTANDING VIDEO. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the detail (which I did not find on other youtube videos) and for stressing the important issues (which I usually end up discovering 'the hard way'. I was about to just give up and pay to have this replacement done, but with your video (which even directs me to where I can get the replacement part), I am gonna do it myself and not only save a lot of money, but also save the time and hassle of getting the vehicle into and back from, the garage 5 stars, no doubt about it.
appreciate the time taken to focus just enough on each step, worked for a santa fe same year, was missing the push from underneath to remove air bag rest was identical. resolved low beams not working issue, and sometimes blinkers would not work. all working now.
Finally found a turn signal video with great photography everything in focus and highly detailed explanations throughout the entire the procedure! ....Great Job!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Mere mortals would be shaking while messing with that airbag module but you were cool as a cucumber. I now think I can accomplish this. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much. They wanted to charge me $250 at the shop and I did it exactly the same time as you thank you so much for this video. It help me a lot.
Thank you so much for taking the time to record this video. Though it didn’t apply 100% to my 2012 Accent se, because of the airbag using T40 screws instead of push springs to remove it, it was accurate to the end of the video. Great money saving video.
This is a great video and love that you cover the details. Other videos don't say much about keeping the clock spring position. How critical is this? Can it move a little and then just put it back in position ?
If you needed to move it a little you could , but I would put a mark on both surfaces to make sure its back in place exactly. Taping seems to work the best so it doesn't get out of place. Thanks for the question.
Great video! Really. You do not mention what made you replace the turn signal switch. I am interested because I am not sure if doing that on my Sonata 2011 will fix my problem. When the lights are on and I use the turn signal (any direction) the dashboard flashes (as if something is shorting) - so I am thinking it might be the switch... but maybe I am wrong. Any thoughts?
The light switch was glitching out . I would definitely start with this given your symtoms. Worse case scenario you will have a brand new switch. Thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan Thank you very much for the reply. That is what I am thinking - it is not expensive and since I will be doing the work (following your excellent video), there are no labour costs.
@@andivalachi8247 I’m having same issue as well with 2013 sonata. I believe the daytime and nighttime lights be glitching on and off or switching. Did your replacement fix your issue? Going to replace mine today
@@andivalachi8247 Did you find out why you were having this issue? I just bought a used 2011 having this issue and found there is an extended warranty on the clock spring, but not sure that will fix it.
Thanks for asking this! I’m having similar issues with my 2017 Kia Forte. Lights flash on and off and using my turn signal seems to be a trigger. Been avoiding driving at night for like a month. I’m going to try this bc I don’t want to pay tons of money to get this simple fix done at a shop
If I just need to replace the wiper switch, do I still need to remove the steering wheel? My turn signal side works just fine, but the Kia boyz damaged my wiper switch when removing my ignition switch. Thanks for posting this btw!
I’m gonna do my turn signal switch on Thursday and I was wondering when u disconnect the battery how long should I wait before messing with the airbag?
I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. Recently I discovered that the brake lights were not working. The rear window brake light DOES work as do the turn signals. The fuses are fine. I’m thinking the rear bulbs are fine because the tail lights work at night. I don’t think I need to replace the break light switch because the rear window brake light works. In researching this issue a few people said it could be the turn signal switch (without explanation). Do you agree this might be my issue? Great video! If you think that is the problem with my brake lights I will revisit this video and replace the turn signal switch. Thanks!
I would start with the simplest solution first by replacing one of the tailight bulbs. These have a dual filament so one is your taillight the other your brake light. So it is possible the filaments could be bad. If that does not fix the issue , I would move on from there. Fuses , junction box etc , possibly switch. Hope this helps.
Watched another video and thought eh I’ll pass doing this myself. Watched yours and I’m definitely doing it myself.
Awesome comment , thank you for the feedback.

South Main Auto did this without removing the steering wheel. Do you think it is possible? I am about to replace mine soon.

Mainly due to the air bag sensors etc. Thanks for watching.

No. The wiper switch is quite a bit easier.

8:11 "Indenshun" isn't a word my guy. You said it a few other times too! 😂 It is "indentation" pronounced (in-den-TAY-shun). You're welcome. 👍

Curiosity kills me, why can’t you just leave it assembled and clip out the stalk and replace it while it’s still on the column?
