Great video! They got my son's 2015 Kia Soul in Nov '22. They ran from police and wrecked it! I have been putting it back together a little at a time as the insurance company would not pay for the repair. I just got a new ignition lock cylinder and folding key off ebay. Attempted to steal my 2016 optima... just had the recall done 6weeks prior, so they weren't able to take it, but they did bust out my passenger window. Trying to see if I can fix myself w/o costly repair as I've been out of work for almost a year and start new job in a few days. I pray these expletives get what's coming to them. I dunno if you already got it, but could probably go out to a junkyard and grab a window and slap it in pretty easily. The door windows are generally just two bolts once you get the door panel off.
This exact situation just happened to me on Tuesday night/ I have the immobilizer so they were unable to take the car. They busted out back window, and busted the plastic housing around the steering column, so ignition switch is dangling. Do we think the ignition switch will snap back in to place so I can still drive my car?? These bastards make me so mad/ people work so hard for what they have, and for them to think the deserve to do these things are insane!! I appreciate any feed back to help get my car running:)

Thank u they just did this to my nephew after 3 days of getting the car thank u for the information u shared so many ppl out here make it seem.like u have to order every piece brand new the way they took my nephew's ignition is a very clean cut so I don't see why he should have to purchase a new one since it's a clean cut it is a clean cut would he have to purchase a new ignition or can he use the same ignition cuz we have a man saying that he has to order all the parts from Kia and then put it all back together they did not mess up the steering column they literally just took the ignition out plugged in a USB cord and took off took off use 9 me and got the car stuck in mud and left it there there was valuables in the car they left everything in their money in the car like $120 inside of a purse they literally just wanted to go on a little joy ride so now we got one person saying he needs to order all the new pieces from Kia and another person saying it's a clean cut and they can pop everything back in so we got two different opinions

You can remove the 12 tumblers from the original key cylinder and transfer over to the new one so your original key works with the new ignition. No need to use the dummy keys.

@@jacobruiz8949 On the old cylinder, remove the tumblers one by one and transfer over to the new cylinder. You need to make sure the sequence is exactly the same and you don't lose the springs that are underneath each tumbler. Once you do that, the old key will work on the new replacement cylinder. I used needle nose pliers to remove each tumbler.

@@createcrate1504 I saw a video on it. It's called rekeying a lock. I have did it on house locks many times. You have to take the actual lock cylinder out and swap each of the 12 tumblers from the old cylinder to the new one. A locksmith can do it if uncertain on doing it yourself

That is the air bag connector. im glad they broke the slot and not the connector wire. So to replace it you have to replace the clocksprings it’s not bad if your good with tools
All I need to do is glue mine together the problem that I’m coming across is there’s this little black piece does it go into the ignition switch? I’ve never seen something like that before. I have asked so many people and nobody knows I do believe it goes inside the ignition switch but like I said, I can’t be sure I found it on the floorboard when they try to steal my vehicle, PS they never got it because I have a Killswitch but they didn’t stop them from doing damage or I should say because it was just one person

This! It looks like 2 possible parts.
Dang bro. I take the wheel off. R&I the clock spring.
Them bolts are “breakaway bolts.”
Once they reach the proper torque they snap.

Keshaun : thanks for posting. My optima was hit recently.. I am able to re insert the lock cylinder into the assembly as is, when I do the car turns over fine using the original key but does not fire up. Will replacing the ignition switch assembly fix this. It seems like the car should start by turning the tab manually as is . Can you explain why it will not fire up when it turns over fine. ?? Thanks again. Very grateful for this post.
Make sure they didn’t rip any wires behind the ignition if not best to check fuse and if worst case find a local mechanic to check the electrical
Also if you got the update Kia giving out that’s probably why it’s not working

You'll have to have it programmed to the vehicle by a Kia dealer, or independent shop with the proper software.
i think kia should make you video mandatory i just got one back from my local dealer that was stolen and wrecked for them to do the column the put the cylinder in the wrong place.

Here's a little trick get a cheap Dremel tool with a cut off wheel cut a slot with it. Screw it off buy new bolts for reassembly.

If you put a notch on them you probably could but I just paid for the bolts it was about 6 dollars when I paid for them

Look for the JDI ghost key push start kit. This will prevent from happening again

My gf Kia soul was targeted and we are doing the ghost key push start to replace the damaged ignition switch and having to purchase rear door window.... So I believe you can change the cylinder piece on its own. problem is finding the right cylinder for your car and if Kia will have it in stock.

No, that’s why these are easy to steal- they have no immobilizer - like stealing an old Ford or Chevy. Turn with a screw driver

@@viitheblogger5480 i forget to mention. KIA will send you (every kia owner) an official letter offering free alarm system service done by your local KIA Dealer. I dont exactly know what it is. The letter said "software upgrade" that doesnt sound like anything to me.
I got my letter last week and my car was stolen September 1 last year. I just throws out the letter because it was useless to me.

They tried to steal my Kia Forte 2015. Idiots didn't realize it was not a keyless ignition and didn't turn on with a USB cord. Still have lower shroud damage and back rear window. Dum dums. Thanks for this though, they left my shroud so I'll put it back on.

Depending on if you received the right ignition switch for your specific car and hooked everything back to its original spot the car should start
