My Catalytic converter was just changed (not at kia) so was the o2 sensors .... engine light still showing a code for catalytic converter. Any ideas? My car is a 2014...108k
I must be one lucky 2014 KIA Soul owner!!! I currently have 241K original miles on it & outside of replacing the alt, battery, ignition switch (way over the 195K) mark, I LOVE THIS CAR.. I have replaced the Cat on it twice.. But hell 241K it's expected...
Only problem with that Is the cat should last forever it gets clogged with deposit from the GDI engine. I am in need of a cat too and now oil light pressure is flickering.(same car). Burns a quart of oil every 500 to 700 miles. Low tension oil piston rings. They are no good on high compression engines.
@jaybowlo5066 same issue here. Sitting at the kia dealer now for 2.hours, my car has 86k miles.on it, 2019 kia soul base. P0420 code, cat is shot. Being replaced now
2016 Soul and so far brakes , oil changes and transmission service. No unusual issues

I have a 2015 base model with 160,000 miles that I bought brand new. Super reliable car. I got 96K on the original factory tires. All synthetic oil changes. K&N air filter. The AC went out about a year ago so yeah prob the compressor. I also didn't run the AC very often. Replaced the battery last winter, got 5 years out of the original. I have taken the car in for all of the recall notices and had a check engine light. They replaced the catalytic converter at no charge and no more check engine issues. I have replaced only 1 headlamp bulb so far. I have noticed a knocking sound from time to time going up and down hills for which I add half a container of Slick 50 oil treatment every 3 to 4K. Other than that great car, easy to drive and low maintenance. Uses same size donut as my Kia Niro. Engine cover gets dusty but I make sure to keep it clean and debris free. Will prob buy a hybrid or EV of this car at some point.
Lower control arm bushings caused a knock in my 18 soul when going over speed bumps
I will never buy anything Kia ever again. I kept up with maintenance on my 2014 Kia Soul for it to give up on me. Kia is not doing anything about it. KIA’S ARE STRAIGHT TRASH 🗑
As soon as I paid off my 2015 kia Soul Plus, it started going to hell. Engine light blinking every 9 months. Eats oil. Generally sucks. Never buying anything but a Toyota ever again
I have a 2014 with 94000 miles. It burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles which I heard is quite common. No other issues but still concerned that a major issue will raise its ugly head as the car is in its 8th year. There seems to be a mixed bag of reports from a great reliable car to all kinds of problems. The frugal part of me says to get 2 more years out of. The wisdom side says to get rid of it and move on. In the mean time I signed up for the AAA top of the line road side assistance coverage. 200 miles free towing with other benefits while the frugal battles the wisdom.
I have the same problem with my 2016 Kia soul burning oil every 1000 miles I thought I was the only one with this problem I have a 100,000 miles on my Kia soul
My 18 model is similar burns .5 to 1 every 3k miles.

2015 Kia Soul Base 1.6L / Replaced catalytic converter under warranty; Replaced valve cover gasket; replaced ignition coils; replaced flex pipe on the exhaust; I have a feeling I will need to replace the AC compressor soon; one brake caliper might need replacement; replaced 2 front turn signal bulb sockets after they failed.
i have a 2014 kia soul and since 80K miles ive had to change out the battery, catalytic converters, spark plugs, ignition coils and now at 106K miles, the engine has a whole in it. It seems pretty crappy to me.

I have a 2016 with 74,000 miles. I'm scared to death of the engine recall! Should I trade it in for something different? I wanted something that felt like an suv, but didn't guzzle up gas like one would! But, having a child knowing this could happen anytime terrifies me! Now I'm constantly nervous, worried and on edge while driving! I even park it out front of my house now, instead of the garage!
You should let an expert check it for you.
I'm from Ghana and i was just trying to buy a 2014 used .But since you now know the problems. You can make a mechanic check it for you.

Almost all Soul problems are from vehicles made in the U.S., Canada imports theirs from Korea. I bought a 2018 in Jan. 2022 and its runs fine. The lady across the road has a 2015, bought new, with zero problems.
Yup got a 2015 made in Korea, no problems except a faulty alternator replaced under warranty
I have a 2015 base model 1.6 manual, i dont know what people are doing to there kia’s but mine has 220k miles on it as i travel for my job. But i am also mechanically inclined so unlike everyone else going by what manufacturers tell them to do i change my oil every 3 months regardless on miles and just regular oil not synthetic. I do have a small tapping noise which i beleive may be lifters. My ac compressor recently went out but my major problem that has happened is the rear catalytic converter came apart inside and got clogged up and it felt like i had no power and i changed the clutch thinking it was that but looked at my rear bumper and it had melted the area where the exhaust is at and i saw the fiberglass hanging out of the exhaust tip so i pulled all the crap out and it ran like a champ, but now i do feel the front catalytic converter is restricting pressure because my ebgine bay gets so hot. So i plan to take it off and smash all the honeycomb stuff inside and have it freeflow. But that is maybe why people engine rods are failing because the restricted pressure from the sucky catalytic converters.

My daughters car is 2015 soul and at 82000 miles it’s knocking. This car has been WELL taking care of. Kia dealership did tests on it and said they wont put another engine in it. A Kia will never be purchased by our family ever again. Crappy cars
I have a 2015 Kia Soul and it's just to hit 70K miles. I have changed battery. I think my catalytic converter needs to change and high pressure fuel regulator as it makes a buzzing noise and l just discovered my rear lift gate struts are gone. I'm about to change bushings and that's all my issues. Very great on fuel consumption.

Ok so let's see if anyone has any ideas on this. Have a 2015 KIA Soul S, has everything you could get on it back then. The car only has 38,000 miles on it and I can't keep a battery charged in it, been to a couple places to try to find out what may be the issue, always get the run around about the computer needing to go to sleep so they can start fresh with their check, hmm? Forget KIA dealerships, the ones in NC and TN are a JOKE, they will not honor their extended warranty or any other factory warranty. Anyone ever have this problem? If so how did you fix it?
2016 Kia soul owner and I have the worst oil burning problem possible. I’ve been told by a lot of Machanics it’s common for this make and model but there’s no recall on it. I had no idea about the whole catching on fire thing especially when he said it can be caused by hot engine oil running onto the hot exhaust. Just knowing about my oil problems and then hearing that part scares me. Man I thought I was getting such a nice and cute car and I’ve had numerous issues.
There's no more problems with a kia than a Volvo or Chevy. Kia is a quality manufacturer as is Hyundai. As much as it pains me to say.
Hyundai has been selling cars in US market since 1986, they have earned their space.
They're as good as Honda or Toyota. Kia run 300K...

Kia Soul 2015, excessive oil consumption and engine problems. Done with kia, they are a horrible company and bad quality vehicle.
Also I bought my soul in 2017 with 8k miles on it now it has close to 85k
I have a 2014 for my daughter and to my shock, the first minute of this video is exactly what happened to her at approx 100K miles. The engine rod blew a hole through the block, and oil from the block leaked on the manifold and caused her engine to catch fire. This happened at 2am, in the morning, and she was horrified. I had to have the whole engine replaced ($8K). Thankfully I had a aftermarket warranty that covered $5K of the repair. I wish I knew this at the time that it happened.
Fight with the scumbags at Kia. The recall says you can be reimbursed. Good luck everyone I dealt with from Kia, dealers, Kia finance and customer service were all assholes and expect to be on hold forever.
My wife’s Soul has 99,000 miles and we are looking to sell and get a used Toyota SUV (I have a 4runner with 200k+ miles). It has devoured oil for 20k miles and recently has twice shuddered and then triggered the oil light despite being nearly to max fill.
The writing seems to be going up on the wall and we hope we can get out before crap hits the fan!
My engine was covered under recall
They made me pay for the Cadillac converter
Got it back, 10 days later heater core went, they covered it
Got it back for a day, and it's running hot and now the check engine light is on
Before that, had all the recalls done, including the pedal
I just bought a used 2013 KIA SOUL 155k miles for $5k.
It seems to run fine but the internet def has be worried about it.

Yep I drive a lot for Uber and mines burns a lot of oil . I have 181,000 2017. I check every week . I use synthetic or high mileage oil . In summer I use heavier oil.
Also I think pinion plug was a recall issue for that model.
Try changing your pcv valve.

Bought Kia Soul 2014 manual transmission with 40k miles on it in 2017. Now has 60k miles. Generally trouble free. Planning on trading it in for 2024/25 automatic later this year.
How about ac or radio that stays on after car is turned off? Or clunking sound when going over speed bumps.
Yep my 2017 radio stays on after car turns off. However I think it will turn off

Forgot to mention about getting insurance on these vehicles. Some insurance companies will not insure these vehicles, will not renew insurance policies, or your premiums will double.

2015 ac compressor died 4 months after paying it off
Any known 2017 issues to know about, just brought a 2017 auto petrol tgdi turbo with 39k on the clock. Seems a nice car, smooth but very quick. Has its service tomorrow.
Ours is a 2017 Kia Soul. Last Wednesday we had it inspected so we could get our plates. (Texas rule) it was done at an oil and lube place. No issues found oil was fine. Saturday we headed out of town and the oil light started flickering and it started knocking. The oil light did not blink or stay on. I immediately pulled to the side of the road. LONG story short. The engine started drinking all the oil and the motor is shot! I have called several Kia dealerships and we had it towed back to the dealership we purchased it from. Diagnostic report came back “internal malfunction” We did nothing to cause this they even said so. They just said it happens. I called Kia Corporate and got ZERO help! We have had the car 8-9 months put 13,000 miles on it and we are being told….sorry. They are not sorry. They got our money and they are done. We purchased the car with 51,000 miles on it. So at 64,000 miles we are without a car and Kia could care less!!! I am disabled and we purchased that car to get back and forth to my doctors, specialist and therapist. Guess we can walk everywhere now. We live in the country and can’t even get to the grocery store. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER KIA IF IT WAS THE LAST CAR ON EARTH TO PURCHASE!!! Our credit will be ruined now so we won’t ever have another car unless we pay cash for it. And again we have exalted every avenue and Kia could care less!!! All we hear is “sorry” I DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER BUYING A KIA!! Not because of just the car but the way we have been treated from dealerships all the way to Corporate Office!

I have one. In the last month, it has difficulty starting. Had the battery, starter, fuel pump system replaced. Still having the issue. Going to try replacing brake switch next. Hopefully that solves the issue.

I bought it bc I didn't want something to big nor to small and love how it has a SUV feeling to it, but doesn't guzzle up gas like one would! Wonder if I can have the dealership check for these problems, instead of waiting on one of them to happen!

I have a 2017 Kia Soul. Engine went out at 53,200 miles. They replaced the engine & heads. Which took 4 months to fix. I had it back less than a week and the engine light is on plus the oil light is flashing. I’m taking it back to Kia Service center in the morning.. I’m really done with this car and Kia period.
All I'm gunna say is, Toyota Corolla.

Damn I have a 2017 one if started making a weird noise and they said the recall may require a engine replacement but they couldn’t tell me exactly why
I have a 2015 Kia Soul that sat at the dealership for 4 months this past winter waiting for the engine recall repair. When they tried to give it back I pointed out it was leaking oil and coolant. They checked it 4-5 times and never foudn where it was coming from. My brakes rusted out and it's and a piston froze up. All of which needs to be replaced now but back then they said it wasn't their responsibility how it was stored so they weren't liable. Now my alternator is gone and I found a frayed wire likely from them working on it

I liked my kia at 1st. I hate it now. I've owned a 2014 kia for 3 years now and the check engine light keeps coming on for one of the recalls. And kia won't fix it because they said they already fixed it... also ac has gone out on my car twice.
Check you Purge Control Value (PVC). I was having this issue for over a year with the check engine coming on and off.
Sell it. Let the next guy deal with it.
My fan for the heater blows fine then quits and will start up again any possible solutions 2016 Kia Soul plus
Replace the cabin filter in the top of the glove box. Go to kia and make them replace the blower motor.
Probably a relay switch for the climate control
And no way would I ONLY CHANGE OIL EVERY 7500 MILES LIKE RECOMMENDED.A $50.00 OIL AND FILTER CHANGE IS NOTHING EVERY 3500 MILES.
Went 26000 miles on Mobil one synthetic. Owned the car until yesterday and only changed the oil 3 times in 80000 miles. No leaks runs great. Got scared by the recall.

Majority of these issues have happened to me. Don't buy a Kia lol
