this video is the first positive feedback i’ve seen on youtube so far 😭 i also really enjoyed this solo and was so surprised to see many people calling it “boring” or bashing her stage presence, i think this sensual kind of style suits her so well and the songs on the album are great ❤
I think some of the criticisms toward her are valid but I feel like people also seem to forgot that similar situation happen with Somi before. I remember how people called out how Somi just looks awkward overall during Birthday era (her debut) but with time, Somi’s stage presence become better so I’m sure the same thing can happen with Tzuyu, people just need to give her a chance!
@@User-q8d9jit's definitely fair and valid to criticise someone's weakness so that they can get better. But I am convinced that most people don't even know how to properly do it. Saying things like "serving all face, no facials", "boring" etc... is just giving poor feedback. You either expand on what is really boring (her face, her dancing, the choreo...) or, hopefully always tho, you give advice on how she can improve. It's not constructive criticism otherwise. Also who decided and when did they decide that stage presence is the number one quality an idol needs to have to debut solo? Like it's as if the music and the singing/rapping come in second place, which is just weird
@@User-q8d9j giving constructive criticism is never bad, but also like stage presence is so subjective, for me personally i really enjoy watching her performance, its very subtle yeah but that’s just what suits her the most in my opinion, so when i’m seeing how many people just complain about her staring at the camera in a weird way or having no facial expressions im just a little disheartened because I actually really enjoyed it, that’s why i was so happy to watch this video and finally see someone who gives her praise
it's just... such a good album. Everyone said she couldn't go solo (I saw so many people who thought only Nayeon and Jihyo had any potential), but she did a fantastic job. I myself was surprised at just how capable she is to do this.
maybe I should just be head ONCE but I really feel as if all the members have solo potential, I’ve seen Sixteen. the debut I’ve been most surprised with is actually MISAMO, only because it’s a unit as opposed to a solo. however, any MISAMO member can still go solo, and I think it’s awesome how the j-line is choosing to focus on producing music in japanese, at least for now. and I’m definitely not complaining about the amount of content TWICE has been pumping out.
it’s nice to hear some positive words about tzuyu’s solo debut. i think run away was a very nice choice for her title track, and it’s very clear tzuyu put in a lot of work for her first solo project. as onces we’ve seen tzuyu go from our baby maknae basically to a strong performer who is serious about expanding on her talents as an idol. tzuyu has her own unique charm that some people will call “boring”, but they don’t know enough about her to see how this solo is the culmination of many things we’ve seen build up over the years. the title and album get better with each listen, and i’m very proud of tzuyu for writing fly (my favorite track). i hope we can get her a win to applaud her hard work. i also want to mention that tzuyu is kind of seen as “the light of taiwan”; this solo has meant a lot to taiwanese fans and i think in that sense it makes it very special/sentimental - tzuyu debuted in a kpop group as the sole non japanese or korean member, was the youngest member, and was only really talked about when it came to her visuals. now we see a lot more - non korean kpop idols can reach a lot of success in the industry too. i love that for tzuyu and for taiwanese onces. 💙💙💙
Bro I've been wanting a classic JYP girl--group song formula for SOOOOOO long and for like the past year and a half I haven't gotten one. So thank you Tzuyu for collaborating with such amazing producers and songwriters to create a fun era.
Classic Jyp songs (aka verse 1-A, verse 1-B, prechrous, 2 members on the chorus, repeat, bridge, chorus with adlibs) were such a sure fire formula…..it kinda sucks how jyp either chose not too or not allowed to produce the current jype title tracks….itzy could use a true jyp miss a level title track
Despite all the doubters and haters, Tzuyu continues to prove that she has the drive to become top-notch soloist material. This album, as she has said many times already, is her own personal statement to the world. She wants to show a side of her that most others haven't seen before, and she wants to go to even greater heights without restraints being put on her. It's especially the most obvious in Fly, where she personally wrote the lyrics by herself. We of the most devoted fans of Tzuyu have known this side of her all along, and now that she has expressed it and shown it to the world, we couldn't be more proud of her. She has a strong future ahead of her-look forward to it.
5:24 Exactly what I was thinking!! Lazy Baby has potential to be a title track and be promoted. I also believe that its more appropriate and matches Tzuyu's vibe as a person and her sound. It kinda has the same potential for Yuna's solo, Not Yet.
i’m honestly really in love with abouTzu, and it’s the first solo album from the solo debuts of twice that i’m considering buying! i do agree with your point about maybe them promoting another single. i remember jihyo debuted with killing me good and promoted that and also promoted closer which i felt showed some more of her charm as well, and i ended up liking closer more than the title track!
like what a gift it has been that this year we could receive a twice comeback, nayeon comeback, tzuyu debut, jeongyeon youtube channel, misamo preparing to promote again, and jihyo and chae capitalizing on all kinds of misc solo opportunities. it's a great YEAR in twiceland
@@finleyy oh no worries, outside of hosting Tzuyu’s debut, I didn’t know any of Chae’s activities 😅 (which tbf, if I were in her spot of success I’d also be takin it relatively chill)
TLDR: Run Away was great, and worked well imo for Tzuyu. Also, I can’t wait for the rest of the girls to do their solos if they want to (and I’m so excited for MISAMO in… October? I no Rember). I like to think that Run Away as a song works especially well for her manner of expression, much like how Pop and Killin’ Me Good worked for Nayeon and Jihyo. Pop emphasized Nayeon’s bubbly expressiveness, KMG emphasized Jihyo’s powerful presence, and Run Away emphasized Tzuyu’s quiet strength.
agree with this whole heartedly! i love that the twice members are pursuing what they feel to be authentic in their artistry and even encouraged to do so by the company. personally i think these are the ways to create good lasting music that an artist and their core audience will enjoy for many years to come. 10s across the board for tzuyu, and jihyo and nayeon too
I love Lazy baby! I’m taking a week off for my birthday (which is today lol) and Lazy Baby is the theme song for the week for me. I loved this EP. I agree that the b-sides feel like we get to dive deeper into the members and I’m really glad they have an opportunity to shape how their solo work looks.
Happy birthday!!!! Lazy Baby is such a good song to listen to while taking some time off, and I agree! I really like that Twice has more and more decision-making power when it comes to the projects they’re creating
i’m so proud of her & can’t wrap my head around it either! i hope one day we can get a mandarin version of her songs or a straight mandarin track but i know that might be wishful thinking. she also doesn’t seem nervous at all imo! she seems so bubbly, personable and excited to be promoting. i think being the baby of twice caused her to comfortably sink into the background for a moment but standing on her own she seems so solid 💙.
i feel like if they promote the rest of the songs or atleast one more with as much craze as runaway they can get immediately get the nayeon pop type craze
lazy baby IS SUCH A FUNNN SONGG, i feel like they tried to play it safe with the title track but the rest of the songs truly feel so much like tzuyu and show her spark and personality so nicely.
For me her album isn’t to my taste and I agree with the feedback that she needs to work on her stage presence; however, it’s clear with each stage and each promotional effort she’s doing she’s slowly improving and becoming more comfortable. I for one am so excited to see how she will carry this experience and improve in the next Twice song and in her next solo album. This won’t be the last time we see her going solo. Casual listeners may only know Tzuyu as the visual of Twice but Once knows her resiliency.
I love the album, no skip for sure. Tzuyu is definitely brought back songs that actually have meaning, not just catchy beats and repeatitive words which is addicting but its giving nothing. Haters be hating but if they give it a chance they'll get hooked!!

Every single song on that album is amazing (I especially love run away and losing sleep)
