nayeon just has this insane star quality that cannot be explained!! seeing her push the envelope while paying homage makes it’s all the more exciting to watch her come into her own
as someone who wouldn't consider themsleves a once but has followed nayeons two solo releases, you can really tell that nayeon loves kpop as a genre. she loves what it was during her earlier years, what and where it came from. like you said, she didn't just want to become a singer, she wanted to be a kpop idol. and that love she has for the genre really elevates her solo work in my opinion.
girl was auditioning in secret from her parents and training to become an idol despite her permanent leg injury. She was there to be an idol no matter what
@@ratangarg3821I mean she’s also pushed more by JYP like I’ll give nayeon her props but she’s promoted a lot better than the other members of twice more screen time the best outfits more lines etc
itzy can release 8 music videos for one comeback but all of them can feel messy. twice can release 1 for only one era and itll feel more compelling. why? because theres a clear concept and idea behind it. i wish jyp knew sometimes less is more and sometimes for twice, more IS more
In my perspective as someone who is not a Once, I think what makes the twice subunits and solos so successful is the fact that they truly understand that they are solo. They are acutely aware of the fact that they're going solo and they need to stand out from the group that they are known by. The solo and subunit matches the members so well and it makes them look like they can carry a career that is separate from twice as soloists because of their distinct sound from the group. They let her play with her sound and grow as an artist separate from her group.
The album is so good. Like i was flabbergasted when i watched the abcd MV. I was screaming at every part and my jaw was locked down and i was out of this world. Nayeon the queen she is.
I do agree with certain comments saying that ABCD sounds and looks like something that Jihyo would use as a comeback and I don't know how to feel about it... Correct me if I'm wrong but this first Twice related Korean project that has no songwriting/composing credits by member(s) in years, and to my casual fan ear it's pretty obvious. I don't know I guess I wanted to hear more songs such as All or nothing, Nayeon usually writes vulnerable and honest lyrics such as Depend on you and Rainbow and I thought this album was definitely missing it. Am I also the only one who was surprised by the amount of English in this album? Maybe that's usual from the producers of HYBE tho.
My opinion is exactly the same as yours omg. I mean, I liked the album and I think it's good, it's just that I expected it to have some songs written by Nayeon just like her debut album (in which she wrote 2 of the songs I think) and I also wanted like personal songs bc she's a good lyricist, but I can understand that it could have been bc some other reasons 🤔
@@myofleurI'm assuming it was probably just a bad timing, even Jihyo said she wanted to write more on her album but didn't have enough time due to touring and promotion in The States.
Nayeon said in a magazine interview that she wants NA to be perfect and she was not fully satisfied with the past songs she had written that's why she decided to just collab with Sole, Sam Kim, and Lee Chan Hyuk instead of writing or composing her own. It was unfortunate because as a fan I really loved her self-written songs and I cannot comprehend how or why she was unsatisfied but knowing Nayeon, she really set a high standard on her work.
I am in love with this album. I expected to love it because Nayeon is also my ult bias. And when has she ever let me down? But I still didn't expect something this fantastic. Every song is fantastic. I need this album to be super successful because it genuinely deserves it.
my only complaint was its length :,) i feel like it needed another 30 seconds to fully accomplish what it was trying to do as a song, it doesn’t really have a climax and it ends kind of abruptly. but i really enjoy the chorus and as usual her vocals are perfect !!
5:49 is now my motto in life, I've never been this long of any kpop group, it's like a home-made sauce that only your mom can make, sorry for my analogy, still in awe and excitement for twice content, like this masterpiece of a review thanks
I know everyone has been saying “this should’ve been Jihyo’s song” or whatever, but Nayeon is really perfect for this. I love seeing her grow and develop as an artist. Also I think she suits this style of pop rnb more. I’ve seen so many toxic comments ranging from being mildly upset this isn’t Jihyo’s song to outright insulting her weight and injured leg. And still, she’s going out and slaying. This is her moment and she knows it. And for those upset because this song isn’t Jihyo’s, calm down. She’ll have her moments too. She’s too talented not to. Do you guys really think she’d be happy to see you saying her bandmate and friend doesn’t deserve success? In conclusion: ABCD song of the summer
i don't absolutely love this album, but i definitely think it's cool that 'Na' really sets Nayeon as a soloist apart from Twice. Jihyo and MiSaMo have also done this, which I think is definitely good for their futures. I was disappointed there were no tracks where Nayeon had writing credits, but Magic and HalliGalli really stood out to me!
I love your videos and I totally agree here! Nayeon's solo albums truly do feel like an homage to the KPOP industry that she's not only taken a part of but what came before Twice?! So good!!
as someone who’s loved twice since 2015 it is so unbelievable where the girls are now. we’ve really seen them blossom from teenagers (specifically school meal club line) curious about love into young women who know what they want out of romance, friendship, and life. as long as they want to be twice, i’ll be watching eagerly and happily.
It is a pity when Twice members start to fly as mature artists the industry pushes them out of the Korean market in order to forcibly introduce 4th Gen. But time always serves justice. People will eventually recognize Twice is the best and remember why they were crazy about them when they were dominating.
The fact that she auditioned without telling her parents and still went through all the struggles as a trainee/idol despite having a permanent leg injury because of a car accident, our one and only IM NAYEON deserves all the success and popularity she has right now. Thank you for being the reason why I became a once in 2022 my bias all rounder unnie
magic is TEW good i dont even care if the lyrics are cringy because julies tone stands out better than all her peers.. i seriously cant get over how great that is. halligalli takes me back to 2018 summer kpop and i am obsessed. count it reminds me of one of my favorite fromis bsides (in the mirror) and both something and butterflies take me to another planet. and oh my god, heaven,, just wow. nayeon outdid herself and destroyed im nayeon album from na 1000 times
I genuinely hope this release, its success & both gp and fan response serves as an indicator for JYP to switch it up for TWICE. Coming from some of the points made in your previous video of how westernization harmed Twice specifically, giving us overly generic uninteresting tt like SMF or One Spark (I LOVE both, but let's be real), ABCD seems like THE reference and route to take for the group as in not being afraid to try different things with more charisma, conceptual identity and fierceness. (Also, glad to see Nayeon getting her well deserved flowers for going from bubblegum Twice color pop to full on Britney 2000's realness and DEVOURING in both)
Still, ABCD is unfortunately not charting well in Korea, despite Nayeon's being the most known and liked there outside of Twice. I think Twice needs longer breaks as a group, more switch ups with producers (what they did Nayeon's comebacks), creative directors and even parts such as choreographies. However, I think that's almost impossible considering how certain members made it pretty clear that they're the most comfortable performing with others, so you can't just debut everyone solo during the group's hiatus.
@@AB-yk2pq Really?? How disappointing tbh, I expected it to grow and escalate the charts overtime :/ maybe with a few more days? Idk But yeah, even though us fans still support and even enjoy Twice, the group's narrative has gone stale since 2022. Yet, with ABCD, Dash and (to an extent) Untouchable I'm hopeful that JYP might end up getting back on track with their top GGs' music, yet the numbers aren't exactly proving this right yet (Born To Be's rollout and excessive MVs oversaturated ITZY's already picky audience and One Spark wasn't it, yet at least it seems like i-fans LOVED ABCD and Dash is def step into the right direction for Nmixx). But yeah, also it's clear that not all Twice members are solo material neither they all want that, and that we need TIME to miss the girls and get a fresh DIFFERENT approach in a new comeback.
Westernisation is not the problem. ABCD is 100% western 2000s music. As you said, it’s the generic, bland ans unoriginal sound that hurts Twice with set me free and one spark. Set me free was then somewhat saved by a great choreo and a nice video. But one spark was fully sub-par unfortunately.
@@cocoto7046 you misunderstood; I'm not blaming westernization, I was referring to a video with that name, of this same creator, that gave a pretty insightful view with very valid points made bout the last Twice releases and related to what I said in my comment. I found it genuinely interesting and kinda eye opening as a kpop stan who isn't a super expert in these things, so I'd recommend you to check it out if you want to 👍👋
I was surprised by how much better her dancing seems to be; seems like she stepped up as a soloist to also be engaging with her body movements. She dances sharper but more fluidly too, it's great as a fan to see her grow up and become even better at her craft.
Is it only me that I feel like K-pop stans are all about charts now weirdly Korean charts like if it wasn’t a hit their then it’s a bad song this is what’s happening now with abcd
i thought album sales were a stronger indicator of a song/album’s success? a song can have 30 million streams but those numbers mean nothing if albums aren’t selling
@@noahfan2719i guess not anymore since album sales are now heavily inflated in kpop from he massive group orders for chinese bars or big fansites eh order up to 1m+ albums at once. the inflations has decreased since 2023 though, but streams reflect the actual listeners + gp more
@@leaderoftaehyungnation9766 Wait...how are streams reflect actual listeners? That doesn't even make sense. Streams are way more likely to be inflated because anyone can streams over and over again without listening to the song. There are literally guides out there for fan base to mass stream. People can actually purchase fake streams online. Streams are the ones that are heavily inflated in K-Pop not the other way around. lol.
This is why JYPE was able to build another building.... ALBUM SALES 😂🥰 Fck Stream numbers, YT likes and views; the real numbers that are significant for both artists and their company come from PHYSICAL Album sales.
not a once yet but i really loved ABCD!!! i’ve been on a 1st/2nd gen kpop kick recently (as my kpop journey started only 8 months ago and i’ve been wanting to pay my respects in a way to those that came before my favs) and this song really has that flair to it. i haven’t listened to the full album yet (only the title track and magic because i love kiss of life) but what i’ve heard so far is a strong showing. i also just really like nayeon’s vocals so i’ll eat up anything released under her name. :P
If you guys listen to abcd I think it samples Ameri’s “1 Thing” the whole production sounds like Rick Harrison who produced her and Beyoncé’s 3:14 debut album ! Beyonce got her sound from Amerie when Rick Harrison gave her crazy in love instead of amerie . If you guys don’t know who amerie is , she is a Korean-African (biracial) and faced a lot of hard times during her career especially have a Korean mother she went through racism. In the end of her song she goes “oh woah oh oh oh” and nayeon uses the same scheme which I found crazy considering it sounds just like Amerie’s ! This was so cool knowing that Amerie and Beyoncé had the same producer !
“I was brought to this earth to be a ONCE” is SO REAL. but anyway, I have been OBSESSED with ABCD for like the past three weeks and I really appreciate your deeper look into the meaning behind our queen Nayeon’s solo career. THANK YOU!! 🙏❤️
I really love your videos and the way you describe things is so satisfying too. I would have never thought of the things you noticed and it's just so interesting to look at this comeback as a homage of the older generation. Nice video as always! I love how you deep dive into the details also ‼️
Im not a once, but Nayeon is an amazing entertainer and whenever i watch the music videos of pop or abcd it just feels like im drawn to her. Lkke you said, shes very comitted to being a kpop idol, and i love her for that.
Nayeon really devoured it all with NA. Like I was in love with it from the very first teaser, and the final album was well worth the wait! I'm so happy that TWICE is able to refine their craft and try new things, and genuinely love their craft! I don't just enjoy TWICE, I also respect their work ethic, commitment, and willingness to push forward, and Nayeon does exactly that with ABCD! And with how it's their 9th anniversary, the chances of us getting a 4th full album as hommage, if TWICE is continuing their current themes of reflection on themselves and the kpop industry, both in questioning it and in paying respects to those before them, then we're getting a massive treat! On NA, my favourite track might be Something, but Heaven with Sam Kim is also soooooo goooood, and ABCD is of course up there too, but it's so hard cuz Nayeon has a full sweep, i love them all!
Although I have gripes with JYPE's management and promotions, I can't deny the fact how they can be unfazed with the current trends in kpop making what their artists' release a breath of fresh air. I like the comment how this is what ended up with of Nayeon's 10 years as an idol; to be one of the most successful group and a soloist that have such a great future. She should be really proud of herself! She's probably the only Kpop soloist I'm really looking forward to music wise, there's so much pop(or non-pop) genres to explore and Nayeon can do no wrong when she gets her hands on to something.
her songs are so focused on her own identity and she works with amazing producers to develop her own style!!! I really enjoyed her previous solo and Jihyo's solo album was similarly well done and very fresh and mature.
I kind of love how you love what I hate about “Pop!” I saw it as a Twice reject. Don’t get me wrong, the song is an absolute banger and I love it! But it didn’t surprise me. Looking at the other solo projects of the Holy Trinity, I felt the same way about Blackpink’s members. Then we look at Red Velvet. Wendy’s “Like Water” let her really show off her vocals in a ballad-like structure that we don’t always see from the group as a whole. Being in a group sometimes restricts Wendy from having her moment. And we got to see more of her artistry with “Wish You Hell” and how you can see her inspirations (such as Jessie J) sneaking through in that album. We also saw the same artistic exploration with Seulgi’s “28 Reasons”. Joy and Jihyo felt fresh but underwhelming. Nayeon’s debut felt like a slight step below that. But this comeback… I was blown away! I expected another song that felt like it was made for Twice and reworked for Nayeon. But nope. It was so brilliant and unexpected and demonstrated Nayeon’s true ability to be versatile and not be limited by the sounds we’ve come to expect from her! This era was so shocking in the best way possible! And frankly, I get the whole “this should have been Jihyo’s” rhetoric. When I first heard the song, I was also thinking “this is right up Jihyo’s alley”. But that’s what makes it so perfect for Nayeon. Nobody would’ve thought she could’ve pulled this off because this sound and style wasn’t on anybody’s radar (at least, it wasn’t on mine). Hopefully Jihyo will also get something better received than KMG. Anyways, as always, loved hearing your thoughts! You always bring a fresh perspective to KPop that often contrasts my own and I love that! Keep it up! ❤️
To be honest, when I first heard that Nayeon was making another solo album, the first thing I thought was, "Why?" Not in a negative way, it was just a surprise to see there be a second solo album from a member with the assumption being that it would be Jeongyeon, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, or Tzuyu's turn next to make a side project. I could see the School Meal Club going the MiSaMo route and making a subunit mini album together, but I feel like everyone pretty much figured that Jeongyeon would be next. She did come off of a long hiatus and perhaps the extra workload is something both Jeongyeon and the company aren't ready to risk, so maybe the company asked who wants to be next and when everyone passed on it, it rounded back to Nayeon? The single and the album itself confused me too because it didn't necessarily feel like something that Nayeon wanted to do on the last album, but couldn't, and felt more like, "Okay, let's do something new without anything really in mind of what to do besides this is the time of the yearly schedule when a member drops a solo album." Pretty much just getting it out of the way before Japanese and English/Korean comeback promotions since they maybe felt an expectation they had to meet each year. I felt a lot of the things you were saying, like this is Nayeon being the K-Pop star she wanted to be with her being a forever fan of the genre, but it didn't really feel as much like a a passion project as her debut did. More like just something she had to do, so she'd might as well have fun with it, but without the added stress of coming up with the songs and lyrics herself. She by all means is singing songs that she enjoys and is challenging herself, but I kinda feel like this isn't Nayeon expressing who she is, but rather the kind of music she enjoys. Kind of like IU's Flower Bookmark except these songs aren't covers, they're just songs that are like the music she likes, if that makes sense.
Jeongyeon has already said that she's not in any hurry to debut. She hasn't shown any interest in a debut. DAHYUN is also going into the acting route. So that leaves Chaeyoung and Tzuyu
I think some people(not exactly you op) outside the fandom are too harsh on Nayeon for having a comeback before other members debuted and calling her Jyp's favorite when in fact its probably just a personal decision the members themselves make. I think if the other girls wanted to go solo, they would just ask the company for it, i mean, they are TWICE after all. And it also depends on if they feel ready for it or not, i can see Chaeyoung wanting to debut with ballads and writing them one by one, being perfectionist about it and taking longer. Jihyo is also amazing but i think she relies more on JYP to get concept ideas than Nayeon, Nayeon seems more like she comes up with many ideas and concepts herself in a day and Jeongyeon had already said she doesn't want to debut yet I personally wanted Mina and Sana to go solo on their own, i think they have enough stage presence for that, Tzuyu also would do very well with a solo debut on Taiwan (if only she could)
I mean, I am no expert but I kinda see why it's her comeback and not another debut. Her, jihyo and misamo were initially out of the frame. Jeongyeon expressed disinterest in a solo debut, dahyun (as someone mentioned above) has got acting projects lined up, leaving chaeyoung and tzuyu. For chaeng, I somehow get the feeling that less spotlight is being put on her after the scandal, and for tzuyu, I read somewhere that her promotions could get tricky. She would get hated in china if she promoted in Taiwan and vice versa. This thus goes back to one of the members who already debuted. Misamo would prolly solo debut in Japan and Jihyo's debut was more recent+Nayeon has more popularity. So, it was up to her once again.
I’ve really enjoyed this album! The fully English songs and the R&B songs esp being an international fan. Heaven and Count in are my favs. But I’ve recently come across comments ABCD would’ve been good for Jihyo too and then I saw Jihyo do the dance with nayeon in their latest TH-cam video and now I can’t help but feel bad for how her comeback wasn’t as big as nayeons and how this would’ve suited Jihyo too. I’m happy for Nayeon but wish jype would’ve put more budget in Jihyo comeback as well.
Yeah, in retrospective the budget discrepancy from POP! to Killin’ Me Good is pretty concerning. I don’t know how much of the creative direction was by Jihyo’s own request, so it’s kind of a tricky thing to talk about, but I wish Killin’ Me Good would’ve gotten more sets at the very least 😭
Nayeon in "ABCD" gave us a different genre and image from what we have used to see in Twice, and it worked. The song and the concept were both amazing, it reminded me of Beyonce's "Crazy Right Now", but that's a good thing don't worry. It's nice to see Twice members explore themselves artistically after years in their career.
1:13 'more than ten years ago now'...time passes so quickly y'all oh my god :0. The fact that Jihyo started training before some current 5th gen idols were even born??? It felt like yesterday that Twice, Gfriend, Blackpink, etc were the rookies. Now they're the seniors and I feel old even though I'm not even 30 yet lol. It hits me even more now that kpop fans are not recognizing D.O. when he sang spot recently...
ABCD MV its the best MV JYP ever produced plus the song is also composed well, from build up to outro it was refreshing to hear a format different to the stagnant sound sound we hear in Kpop all the time. Plus her performance and screen presence shows that Nayeon is a fvckin star
All JYPE artists are groomed and influenced by Mr. JYP himself and his own personal musical influences such as Motown Music, Madonna, Prince, Bobby Brown and others from those eras. Now with Nayeon’s album NA we can all feel and hear the nods to western and Korean artists from a newer era of music which I could only assume are some of Nayeon’s musical influences. JYP is a self made idol and millionaire and he did not have an easy journey. He knows how to get it done inside the studio, in front of the camera and on the stage. Now, what many don’t realize is that he wants his idols to know all the ins and outs of the music industry just like he does so they will have a future outside of the idol life. Basically like protégés BUT he is not going to spoon feed them. Everything is at their disposal but it’s up to them to take advantage of it and make their time as idols as lucrative as possible. That’s what the GOT7 boys didn’t realize at the time of their departure from JYPE. Jackson fully understood hence why he’s where he’s at now vs the rest of the former members and I say that respectfully bcuz I loved GOT7 and truly feel that K-POP took a huge hit when they left. Still hoping for a comeback from them but I’m not holding my breath 😏 Anyways, Nayeon and the rest of the TWICE girls FULLY understand the teachings and philosophy of JYP. Just look how all of them are doing their own little side ventures and absolutely KILLING IT whilst staying humble, grounded and true to their fellow members. This is such an amazing time to be a ONCE!! I’ve been here since before debut and watched our girls grow every step of the way and I am so very PROUD of OT9 and I love those girls wholeheartedly just like millions of us ONCES do all around the world 🍭 Nayeon’s album is such a thing of beauty born through trust and patience. Her solo debut was a very good album BUT it was a safe solo debut album. That was very smart to do. The main focus was POP and that song and MV will forever be ICONIC!! I knew Nayeon had way more in her bag and sure enough she did. NA is a masterpiece of a solo K-POP album 🤌🤌 It’s constructed so perfectly and everyone involved did such an amazing job!! TWICE and OT9 are like the old fable, The Tortoise and the Hare. Slow and steady preserves longevity and greatness.
It made perfect sense when you mentioned twice is your ult group, because only a fan would go this deep with a concept that isn't deep AT ALL. And I really like both pop and abcd but, for her debut she just played it safe with the image/sound her and twice always had and with abcd, she saw an opportunity to dab into a concept that is popular right now and that she had already started experimenting (with that 10 minutes cover). I don't see it as "paying homage to kpop" in any way lmao
Many people say that this song sound like a itzy song and I also think it could be one but I don’t think it would be as good if it was. Nayeon really made this song, I think she really proved her star quality and in a way showed everyone why she THE center. And kinda reclaiming her crown that she was never granted during 3rd gen because of the way twice was promoting themselves vs red velvet or blackpink
It was just me and 5 other onces who bothered to stream killing me good lol so these takes on jihyo seem empty to me! And when we get that ballad next year, dont act shocked!
I wish pdogg (or anyone new and good) would work with twice in the upcoming future for a twicelike song. TWICE has been needing a fresh start, and I hope nayeon was the signal of it. Both of nayeons solos were insane in all, LIKE ALL, aspects, and JYPE absolutely outdid themselves with ABCD. In all of the releases from jype this year, including twices previous comeback, this was the only one that could be considered a good (in all aspects) comeback. The editing, the promotion, the concept, the idol, and the thing every jyp group has been needing, the new producer really sold it.
@@BigV24 I agree with that 100% there was nothing better for twice other than them. BEP was a huge part of twice and losing them genuinely damaged a lot. If only they could return even for one album... but they're focused on their own gg now
Hi Choujimi! I wanted to say I really appreciate the time and effort you put in your videos. I love Twice and I thought about your previous video on westernization. Do you think 'NA' could suffer from the same problem you described with ot9 releases? Nearly half the tracks are in English and ABCD feels like a love letter to early 2000's American pop and RnB. I love both of Nayeon's solo releases but I wonder if this one is more isolating for a non-western audience
Me: "I'm so sick of every single kpop group using "abc" and "123" in their songs - it's everywhere, it's corny, it's overused, I'm done, I'M DONE, I need them to STOP! Nayeon: "....how bout just one more time?" Me: "....sigh, ok - for you, yes - but THEN we're done, right? RIGHT???" pls no more ABCD was a bop for sure, but i'm so f*cking tired of hearing the alphabet in every single f*cking song i'm going to lose my mind.
My personal ranking of the mini with reasons 1. Magic- carried the mini on first listen and it’s still carrying 2. HalliGalli- Akmu produced in the best way 3. Count it - decent song beautiful gown 4. Something - for the ballad H oes 5. Butterflies - good gown 6. Heaven- Lee Hyori Reject 7. ABCD- ok I’m not seeing the Beyoncé or BoA comparisons as someone who enjoys Beyoncé’s and BoA’s music, it’s more Brittany, Ariana grande, and some Mariah Carrey to me if we’re going to make comparisons, I don’t find the song enjoyable though, it’s a mid track which I guess has more marketing potential than other songs on the mini but that’s about it, Nayeon gives the song a great vocal performance but it doesn’t save the track for me, the production and writing are fine too but I really can’t bring myself to enjoy or want to listen to it, I’m not a nayeon anti, I fact she’s one of my ults but something isn’t clicking
this is unrelated to the video but you mentioned in your mr vampire video that it was the first song in a while to have a clear meaning and i was wondering if that extends to NMIXX and stray kids?
No, I was just talking about ITZY’s more recent songs. NMIXX’s Dash has a pretty clear and concise premise to its narrative, it’s one of the best releases out of JYPE in a while in my opinion!
Wow you really did NOT watch this video -- or are too r3t4ded to understand it… Kpop has ALWAYS been very heavily influenced by Western trends, especially r&b (it's why some black folk hate it)… You want less western? Listen to Jpop instead -- that's a music landscape mostly cut off from the outside world
With the amount you credited Nayeon, i thought she wrote the song. Don’t get me wrong, I love Nayeon and she is super talented, but everything is handed to her. The song, choreo, video, what to say in interviews, everything. Basically all of kpop is manufactured this way. Sure she executes it wonderfully, but this song isn’t something of Nayeon’s genius, but rather that of the producers, songwriters etc. who wanted this exact reaction.
I honestly disagree since I would say that’s mostly how the industry is in general but it all comes down to the artist showcasing that. And to be honest I see a lot of solo idols that sometimes they don’t necessarily fit the song (idk if that makes sense). In all to say that not every idol is able to showcase a certain sound or theme and I think Nayeon did great even if it was technically handed to her.
idols do not have to write their own solo songs to have creative control over their solo albums and singles I am so tired of this false assumption it's ridiculous
bro i would love to see your views of stray kids not being affected by jyp entertainment and is becoming the face of kpop after bts and blackpink and twice. what is the reason behind it?
ok but tell me that this dosnt scream jihyo...im sorry its just when you look at her preform the dance and you look at the 'mini album' jyp gave her, this just dosnt fit nayeons concept as much.. idk-
I always see people praising Nayeon, when in reality the praise should be given to the team behind her, they created the aesthetics and sounds of the album. She only performed it.
Being a good performer is incredibly important in this industry, try watching a group without star quality, without stage presence, without the personality for all of it.... It's Insufferable, performing and delivering it with excellence is what kpop idols are supposed to do soooo...
@@diarysawan I never said otherwise. But this video isn't about stage presence, it's about general image and musical sound and Nayeon hasn't contributed to that. People should give their praise to the people that actually made the work they are praising. To give an example: you wouldn't praise the producer of ABCD for how well Nayeon executed the choreo because that's not his accomplishment. So why praise Nayeon for the work the producer did?
@@milli3377 That's a good point!! I do think Nayeon and the girls of twice have a lot more input than they did in the early years of their career, 10 years of being a consolidated group probably allows them more freedom but it's hard to say how much Nayeon contributed behind the scenes, and it's true she has a whole team behind her... maybe it should be mentioned in the video more often while addressing this topic
i’m very proud of nayeon with all that she’s done for this album and comeback. the album is amazing and what i personally wanted to see from her in terms of style and concept. my ult group is twice as well and it will always be that way, and one of the reasons that is is because they can successfully pull off any concept given, through solo/unit or group. nayeon gave a good example of that with abcd 🩵
You are giving too much credit to a person who is just following what they give her to follow. Sing this song, dance this dance ect. She is not actually aware of anything, her team is (even tho I'm not actually sure they know what her fans like, cuz mature is not what they expect from her. The expect childish songs and they didn't get it, so it probably won't have the same success as Pop). And the track is actually very boring (Jk 3D rip off, no wonder tho the producer track is Pddog). Only thing I can say abt the album is that its cohesive. So cohesive that when I play it I couldn't tell when the songs are switching. Which is not very good
nayeon just has this insane star quality that cannot be explained!! seeing her push the envelope while paying homage makes it’s all the more exciting to watch her come into her own
that damn im gonna be a star song was really just her manifesting her career💫
she was born for it!
as someone who wouldn't consider themsleves a once but has followed nayeons two solo releases, you can really tell that nayeon loves kpop as a genre. she loves what it was during her earlier years, what and where it came from. like you said, she didn't just want to become a singer, she wanted to be a kpop idol. and that love she has for the genre really elevates her solo work in my opinion.
Very well said! That's so true! Good for her! It's refreshing to see kpop idols embrace the genre as much as we love Kpop's original essence!
No wonder why she's the center and face of twice cuz nayeon means twice 😅
girl was auditioning in secret from her parents and training to become an idol despite her permanent leg injury. She was there to be an idol no matter what
@@ratangarg3821I mean she’s also pushed more by JYP like I’ll give nayeon her props but she’s promoted a lot better than the other members of twice more screen time the best outfits more lines etc
ABCD's music video is genuinely one of the best executed MVs JYP has done in years Itzy's team needs to take notes
It feels more "put in place" than a lot of Itzy's and Nmixx's music videos.
@@AB-yk2pq concept wise i would argue that NMIXX's mvs are extremely well executed
I know 😭 we need to get this technology and show it to the division that works for ITZY
itzy can release 8 music videos for one comeback but all of them can feel messy. twice can release 1 for only one era and itll feel more compelling. why? because theres a clear concept and idea behind it. i wish jyp knew sometimes less is more and sometimes for twice, more IS more
Well having someone as experienced and Talented as Nayeon really makes it easy to put together really cohesive and amazing MV
What makes them successful is that they already have a massive built in fan base. That allows for a lot of freedom and confidence right there.
Nayeon makes it so obvious she LOVES being an idol as for most of Twice, it's not just a job. it's her PASSION
@@AB-yk2pq but Jihyo have credits in every song but KMG, or am I missing something? Jihyo wanted to write more...her commitment is incredible.
Nayeon said in a magazine interview that she wants NA to be perfect and she was not fully satisfied with the past songs she had written that's why she decided to just collab with Sole, Sam Kim, and Lee Chan Hyuk instead of writing or composing her own. It was unfortunate because as a fan I really loved her self-written songs and I cannot comprehend how or why she was unsatisfied but knowing Nayeon, she really set a high standard on her work.
i think if you don’t speak korean, it shouldn’t be a big deal if k-pop idols sing in english lol
I am in love with this album. I expected to love it because Nayeon is also my ult bias. And when has she ever let me down? But I still didn't expect something this fantastic. Every song is fantastic. I need this album to be super successful because it genuinely deserves it.
I saw on the subscriptions tab how you immediately changed your profile picture to library Nayeon haha 😭 and I agree! I hope it gets more recognition
@@choujimi library Nayeon is what I aspire to be in life
@nayeonchantix can you email me the pic lmao. I also want to use library nayeon as my profile pic
my only complaint was its length :,) i feel like it needed another 30 seconds to fully accomplish what it was trying to do as a song, it doesn’t really have a climax and it ends kind of abruptly. but i really enjoy the chorus and as usual her vocals are perfect !!
Thankfully the “extended” version was released!
Def a way to get more streams and such! But it’s all worth it!
@@Dcond3 WE WIN
I knew you'd crank out an analysis on this comeback in record time and you never disappoint!
People will eventually recognize Twice is the best and remember why they were crazy about them when they were dominating.
the intro 😭❤️❤️
It's so satisfying to see an idol keep persuading the dream of kpop fans. She's bringing back the vibe of kpop and I'm so glad that she did.
The fact that she auditioned without telling her parents and still went through all the struggles as a trainee/idol despite having a permanent leg injury because of a car accident, our one and only IM NAYEON deserves all the success and popularity she has right now. Thank you for being the reason why I became a once in 2022 my bias all rounder unnie
magic is TEW good i dont even care if the lyrics are cringy because julies tone stands out better than all her peers.. i seriously cant get over how great that is. halligalli takes me back to 2018 summer kpop and i am obsessed. count it reminds me of one of my favorite fromis bsides (in the mirror) and both something and butterflies take me to another planet. and oh my god, heaven,, just wow. nayeon outdid herself and destroyed im nayeon album from na 1000 times
hard agree for halligalli
i was born to be a once too!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Loved your Review and support of Nayeon ...and TWICE
Well done and thoughtful video. You had me at ult group is Twice.
Idk
But yeah, even though us fans still support and even enjoy Twice, the group's narrative has gone stale since 2022.
I found it genuinely interesting and kinda eye opening as a kpop stan who isn't a super expert in these things, so I'd recommend you to check it out if you want to 👍👋
@@chromaticasforecast4419 ok sorry. My bad.
ITS ALL BANGERS
album of the summer fr
I loved the NA album and loved her last album 2! So excited to see my bias making AMAZING music
She is Kpop legend
I think we finally found Lee Hyori’s successor.
I'm not nayeon fans or an once. But i can still enjoyed jer release this year, such good quality in both the song and the performance.
“I was brought to this earth to be a ONCE” is SO REAL. but anyway, I have been OBSESSED with ABCD for like the past three weeks and I really appreciate your deeper look into the meaning behind our queen Nayeon’s solo career. THANK YOU!! 🙏❤️
I think pop and ABCD are way too different yet so alike I can't explain it but they both scream nayeon in different ways
I really love your videos and the way you describe things is so satisfying too. I would have never thought of the things you noticed and it's just so interesting to look at this comeback as a homage of the older generation. Nice video as always! I love how you deep dive into the details also ‼️
Thank you!! I really appreciate it
Im not a once, but Nayeon is an amazing entertainer and whenever i watch the music videos of pop or abcd it just feels like im drawn to her. Lkke you said, shes very comitted to being a kpop idol, and i love her for that.
Magic is amazing song that also seems to have layers in it
This album is so unbelievably good.
4th full album 😳 I’m getting my hopes up 🤩
Although I have gripes with JYPE's management and promotions, I can't deny the fact how they can be unfazed with the current trends in kpop making what their artists' release a breath of fresh air.
Keep it up! ❤️
I agree! I also didn't like pop as much, but ABCD had an impact in me.
and about Jihyo, closer was better than KMG imo tbh.
I see the inspiration Nayeon got from Jihyo and it's fantastic
'Pop' is trash. It only got popular because it was different to other kpop songs in 2022
@@naurrris it inspiration or is just the same team working with the same aesthetic?
Personally my favorite song is count it, you can never go wrong with rnb nayeon!
I’m so excited for Tzuyu’s solo debut AAAAAAHHH
To be honest, when I first heard that Nayeon was making another solo album, the first thing I thought was, "Why?"
Not in a negative way, it was just a surprise to see there be a second solo album from a member with the assumption being that it would be Jeongyeon, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, or Tzuyu's turn next to make a side project.
Jeongyeon at least has already said she doesn't want to go solo
Jihyo is also amazing but i think she relies more on JYP to get concept ideas than Nayeon, Nayeon seems more like she comes up with many ideas and concepts herself in a day
and Jeongyeon had already said she doesn't want to debut yet
I personally wanted Mina and Sana to go solo on their own, i think they have enough stage presence for that, Tzuyu also would do very well with a solo debut on Taiwan (if only she could)
I mean, I am no expert but I kinda see why it's her comeback and not another debut.
The intro loll❤😂
i genuinely believe that, whenever twice disbands (i don’t wanna think about that😭), she can make it as a soloist.
I'm early! Always love your videos!
Haha thank you! I always appreciate seeing your comments
ABCD MV its the best MV JYP ever produced plus the song is also composed well, from build up to outro it was refreshing to hear a format different to the stagnant sound sound we hear in Kpop all the time. Plus her performance and screen presence shows that Nayeon is a fvckin star
MAGIC EATS
I loved the song Heaven with Sam kim
Many people say that this song sound like a itzy song and I also think it could be one but I don’t think it would be as good if it was. Nayeon really made this song, I think she really proved her star quality and in a way showed everyone why she THE center. And kinda reclaiming her crown that she was never granted during 3rd gen because of the way twice was promoting themselves vs red velvet or blackpink
It was just me and 5 other onces who bothered to stream killing me good lol so these takes on jihyo seem empty to me!
And when we get that ballad next year, dont act shocked!
Sunmi is another succes example
I wish pdogg (or anyone new and good) would work with twice in the upcoming future for a twicelike song. TWICE has been needing a fresh start, and I hope nayeon was the signal of it.
Both of nayeons solos were insane in all, LIKE ALL, aspects, and JYPE absolutely outdid themselves with ABCD. In all of the releases from jype this year, including twices previous comeback, this was the only one that could be considered a good (in all aspects) comeback. The editing, the promotion, the concept, the idol, and the thing every jyp group has been needing, the new producer really sold it.
we need BEP and Twice again, perfect for each other. the goat combo.
I love both of Nayeon's solo releases but I wonder if this one is more isolating for a non-western audience
tbh abcd suits jihyo more, but unfortunately it probably would have not been as popular 😢
Please make a reaction to Zyo's Zone and Misamo if you havent yet
imagine jihyo with a similar mv omgg
Me: "I'm so sick of every single kpop group using "abc" and "123" in their songs - it's everywhere, it's corny, it's overused, I'm done, I'M DONE, I need them to STOP!
Nayeon: "....how bout just one more time?"
Me: "....sigh, ok - for you, yes - but THEN we're done, right? RIGHT???"
pls no more
ABCD was a bop for sure, but i'm so f*cking tired of hearing the alphabet in every single f*cking song i'm going to lose my mind.
My personal ranking of the mini with reasons
1. Magic- carried the mini on first listen and it’s still carrying
2. HalliGalli- Akmu produced in the best way
3. Count it - decent song beautiful gown
4. Something - for the ballad H oes
5. Butterflies - good gown
6. Heaven- Lee Hyori Reject
I see you everywhere😭
@@dollyvivi_.ৎsays quite a lot if you see them everywhere 😂😂
this is unrelated to the video but you mentioned in your mr vampire video that it was the first song in a while to have a clear meaning and i was wondering if that extends to NMIXX and stray kids?
No, I was just talking about ITZY’s more recent songs. NMIXX’s Dash has a pretty clear and concise premise to its narrative, it’s one of the best releases out of JYPE in a while in my opinion!
Nayeon’s sound is becoming more and more westernized 🫤 MAKE KPOP KOREAN AGAIN
Kpop has always been westernised lmao
kpop has always been inspired by western music 💀 get a job you are chronically online
Wow you really did NOT watch this video -- or are too r3t4ded to understand it…
Kpop has ALWAYS been very heavily influenced by Western trends, especially r&b (it's why some black folk hate it)…
You want less western?
In all to say that not every idol is able to showcase a certain sound or theme and I think Nayeon did great even if it was technically handed to her.
idols do not have to write their own solo songs to have creative control over their solo albums and singles I am so tired of this false assumption it's ridiculous
u can't claim to like kpop then say "all of it is manufactured" there are a lot of idols who produce for their groups and even more who write
she looks a bit like karin uzumaki
nayeon just hits different. abcd was way better than abcd
bro i would love to see your views of stray kids not being affected by jyp entertainment and is becoming the face of kpop after bts and blackpink and twice. what is the reason behind it?
not really...
ok but tell me that this dosnt scream jihyo...im sorry its just when you look at her preform the dance and you look at the 'mini album' jyp gave her, this just dosnt fit nayeons concept as much.. idk-
I always see people praising Nayeon, when in reality the praise should be given to the team behind her, they created the aesthetics and sounds of the album.

That's a good point!!
Which is not very good
ah yes, my favourite childish songs; moonlight sunrise, espresso, make me go, closer, strawberry
you just a hater 😂🙏 also who is jk 3d
@@taeechaee playing dumb won't make her actually be successful
@@Vosee-k5d just asked a question and she is pretty successful as a solo artist
