@@vixxexo6855but you should remember that music, which is an art, will never please EVERYBODY. Some prefer this song and it's a banger for them, some just don't like it and refuse to listen to it and THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE. We have differing preferences after all. You could always look beyond the title tracks and look into the whole thing itself, maybe you can find something that you like.

I think Gold feels like Itzy going back to their roots. As for Gold. Gold is one of the most precious metals on Earth. While the color pink means compassion and love. When I put them together they create rose gold or simply are colors that complement each other. These colors can take more than one form and still be beautiful. I think that's why Itzy is beautiful within the nuances of the gold and pink. They are compassionate and hold a lot for their art and their skills are gold because of how precious they are. I think I could apply this to all aspects of Itzy and to their relationship as members. And I think they become most golden when they have all 5 members which brings in the pink to show their compassion for one another.

If you think about it, we also got another bone breaking choreo (please headbang responsibly).
I liked the album, quite a lot actually. There are songs that fit the golden glow (Bad Girls R Us, Gold, VAY), and songs that feel so pinkishly sweet (Imaginary Friend, Supernatural, FIVE).
Another thing that is exciting to look for, there’s still Imaginary Friend’s music video!

I kinda like that with each release we get to experience something new. Without a specific concept I feel like ITZY can basically do anything they want. Being such strong performers also makes me trust that no matter what path they take it'll still be good. I've only been a MIDZY since beginning of 2023 when I first got into Kpop. But as I listened to their discography I felt like they were narrowing in on what they as a team do the best and in the process have been releasing incredible songs.

As both a Once and a Midzy, I loved seeing the similarities between Gold and Feel Special. Like with Feel Special, the return of Mina was the best part; which is the same for gold. The album was gold, because it was the return of Lia, and completing Itzy again. They shine the brightest when they’re together, and that’s why I loved them calling the BTB songs, the final version. Because that’s what they are, Itzy isn’t Itzy without the five of them.
Song wise, Gild dethroned Wannabe as my favorite Itzy title track. I love songs like this, where they’re overstimulating, but in the very best way. There isn’t a single second of silence, and I love that. It’s one of the reasons why I love “That’s a no no” as well. I also was so happy when I heard the “incoming!” Dem Jointz is one of my favorite producers, and I instantly fall in love with every song he works on. (And yes, that includes “o.o,” as I’ve loved that song since first listen.)
Like all of your videos, this one was amazing!

Honesty my take on the concept of gold is actually that there unwrapping/ unearthing what the last albums concept was and was supposed to be, the born to be album is unabashedly celebratory in a lot of ways, it didn’t really conceptualize in what it was that it was unabashedly celebrating other than the really high moments in life. A lot of the new songs here I feel like add to the context of why itzy may be celebrating at this moment particularly, while we know it’s because Lia is back, it’s not like Itzy has a lot of established lore that would indicate that Lia’s absence was a real time event in Itzy lore. I also think that the OT5 songs were placed at the bottom of the album to indicate that the listener is digging to them and unearthing them.

i was very excited about this comeback because it’s the first ot5 comeback in a while. i’m not midzy, but as a once i try to support the other jyp ggs. by now i think it’s to be expected that any online discussion about itzy’s music will be mostly negative, because unfortunately that’s becoming the norm, so i didn’t let that stop me from listening to gold the song and album. to keep it short, i think gold is a peak in itzy’s career and maybe sound. this album is amazing and gold is authentically itzy, a perfect song for them. a lot of people continue to expect something “more” or “different” from them and i think this was that. i feel proud of them and i’m not even a fan. i hope midzys are proud of the girls this era because they honestly did so well. my personal favorites from gold are bad girls r us, supernatural, and imaginary friend. let me say this album has no skips!!! no matter if itzy gets a win or if this cb is well received by the gp, i hope the girls are proud of themselves because this comeback is special. i’m looking forward to more gold stages and imaginary friend mv 💗

As much as the music is good, it just seems like alot of people have completely tuned out of ITZY. Though similar to TWICE's Feel Special in concept, it didn't seem to have the same effect. I expected there to be alot more hype surrounding this comeback given that Lia was also coming back, but they are barely charting anywhere globally or domestically :(
Sneakers was well received in Korea despite backlash internationally and yet it seems like ITZY isn't getting any traction in Korea either.
I don't mean they have to be topping everything but it's hard to wrap my hear around the fact that they are not even charting after being a girl group who produced hits just a few years ago. This isn't really common to happen to a big girl group. TWICE also slowed down a bit in 2020 & released some controversial songs (More & More especially), but they still charted extremely well and the album became their best selling album at the time.
They still have good sales and I knowwww they are doing fine. The girls just mention that they hope they can be an ITZY that people will love again and it makes me a bit sad that no matter what direction they go for, it just seems like the public won't catch up anymore.
I hope they feel happy about MIDZYs supporting them and Lia coming back though

I like Gold. The chorus, especially the final one where the kick drum feels so impactful, is up there with the best Kpop choruses. An instant hook belted to perfection.
The rest of the song is solid but it is more of an off kilter vibe than a smooth ride. I'm always waiting for the chorus and Ryujin smiling sweetly feels wrong. Also the compression in the very beginning kinda feels like how NMIXX title tracks have been produced.
Thematically, I agree that it reads as a celebratory song. That aspect works for me, it really matches the energy of the chorus.
Overall, another solid Itzy track. Loco is still my favourite but this chorus belongs in the same conversation. It's a fun time that's worth celebrating.

Hey ! I think your theory that WE are the GOLD that Itzy is talking about is 100% right and we can see it directly in the Official MV : at 0:33 Yeji takes out the Gold from the camera looking at us like we are actually the gold she just found, then at 3:10 Itzy is looking again at us and Yeji aims her tool at the camera (to dig gold) because we, midzys, are the Gold they are looking for 🩷

I wonder if Imaginary Friend is the pink song then. The lyrics can definitely be viewed as dark ones about the parasocial relationship with fans (at least with the translations that I've seen). The second verse starts by with "Who am I? the evolution" and talks about the "hallucination" which can be seen as them fighting against the identity we put on them. Later if Itzy are saying "Come on and dance, dance and don't stop" to fans it's fun but if we're saying that to them it's incredibly bleak, especially when a member is just coming back from a health related hiatus. Given the teasers that have just been released and the way they have talked about the track I'm inclined to view it that way and I love it even more for that.

Also i luv the colour analysis u did.. i was also wondering why their album was pink so i thought somewhere along the lines of feminity or their relationship together as a group. & along the lines of wat u said Gold feels like a celebration. I honestly don't think Gold is experimental enough. All it is now is a set of different drum patterns without a good vocal hook. There's not enough happening melodically. It's just kind of an empty song. It's definitely not as interesting as the NMixx debut, which was rightly disliked for being a disorganized mess. But at least it had stuff going on.

I didn't like Gold at all. I didn't like the title track and i didn't add any track from the album to my playlist, and I'm sad about it. I've been Midzy since their Not Shy era and it breaks my heart that (to my personal taste) I, as a listener and a fan, just can't enjoy their recent releases. Their album "Crazy in love" was so freaking good in my opinion, but after that...
I liked "Bet on me", "None of my business", "Kill shot", "Born to be", "Mr. Vampire", their solo tracks... But "Sneakers", "Cheshire", "Boys Like You", "Cake", "Untouchable" and now "Gold" are just misses for me. :( And if you ask me, what I want from them, I'd say fast track that makes you dance and jump around (for example like "Lovesick girls" by BP). Like a club track, you know? I think that would be really cool. Or something like "Whiplash" from aespa.
Oh, and when I heard "incoming", I knew that we are entering another 'mixed reactions era', and it's so freaking sad. I just hope that one day they'll release a title track that would help them to be on top again.
It's just my opinion, so please be nice to me in the comments. I don't want to fight. And I'm definitely not saying that their recent music is bad, it's just... Not everyone's cup of tea, and it makes me sad as Midzy.

Okay so, this is going to be a rant/opinion about what is going on. I’m going to rip off the band aid and say that I don’t understand why the general public has left itzy out of the blue. I mean twitter is one thing but I’m deeply confused about how and why itzy is consistently getting purposefully left out of the “4th gen best groups” talks even in SK, it’s like they are somehow being pushed further and further away by award shows and SK kpop fans. Itzy hasn’t really left, and you can’t say that they didn’t have any competition in their rookie years when in reality they were competing with the already debuted first 4th gen groups (skz, izone, gidle, etc.) and the huge 3rd gen groups, heck Dalla Dalla was the most popular song in 2019 in a lot of Korean charts even tho bp released kill this love, twice released fancy and bts release boy with luv. The industry is actually hell for ggs, if the problem was the music itself then why shitty music is still charting fine but itzy isnt? Why are aespa fans so tuned in to destroy itzy’s every move? In fact, why are jype’s ggs having such a hard time being noticed by the general public? Twice slowed down, Nmixx hasn’t found a real fanbase, Vcha is nowhere to be found, nowadays the only groups that seem to be doing fine are SM and maybe HYBE ggs which pisses me off so bad. The Korean public simply doesn't like their songs that much and the other GGs perform to well for itzy to be a part of the conversation anymore. You have NJ, Aespa, Ive, G-idle, LSM; there's simply no space for itzy to be a part of the "top" GG conversations anymore with their current stats. Trends in kpop move fast, you can't stay on top by having a 1 hot single 5 years ago, confusing branding and no push for individual members. JYP failed to fully utilise the first 2 yrs, when they had no competition. Now the other top companies understand what the public likes, solo branding so Itzy has been easily taken over, not just domestically but internationally. Also unpopular opinion but the other top GGs have stronger songs that fully utilise each members skill.

I think the problem with Itzy and most current K-pop groups is a lack of commitment to the concept. If you look at past groups you can see that they at least attempted to research and flesh out a concept some even creating lore so that they are presenting us the consumer with something we can relate to or at least engage with. Most of us listen to music to feel something that we can’t feel in our regular environments, it’s like an escape so sometimes the music and concept just needs to be simple and straight to the point. Yes present it artistically but not something I have to do research and analysis on. It’s too exhausting trying to understand the hidden meaning of a song or a concept when I’m already tired of trying to understand life, school, adulting, etc. Just commit to the concept and make it simple enough by giving us good music that matches the concept. I mean who in this day and age can relate to the gold rush? There are people who are not American and listen to Itzy, they have no idea what a gold rush is? There are so many other relatable ways to present a gold concept and the message that your fans are gold but this is just madnesses at this point. For example the olympics just finished and that K-pop athletic games thing they do, they could have themed it like that and have the girls doing different activities like running in heels etc and then they win all the gold medals….its an opportunity to be fun and quirky without being pointless. I liked itzy because their songs had words and themes that I could actually say in my day to day life but now the lyrics, song themes and MV’s have just gone so out of context that they are full of sentences that are not even in peoples regular vocabulary, so how can we even feel anything? Sorry for the essay but better out than in 😄

Also stranger things inspo in Gold, Halloween vibes with songs like imaginary friends and supernatural. I understand people want them to stick to a concept and develop it like most k-pop groups unfortunately it comes off as clustered and directionless which is unsatisfying and feels unfinished. It makes JYPE and its groups look like they're trying to be creative and failing at it hurting their very good artists and amazing music. I love most JYPE artists but my frustrations with them in this aspect is high. Now every nmixx come back i expect hate, with itzy ive adjusted to the hate, with stray kids i don't even acknowledge the hate at least day 6 is doing well😂

Where i could understand how tracks like Sneakers and Cake are not thr public's taste I'll never forgive them for hating on Cheshire.

Their identity problem is really annoying me! Like once they DESTROY everything with solid teen crush, they come back to music for 5-year olds. I don't know why, because it simply doesn't work for them (don't get me started on sneakers, cake and now gold, cuz these are the worst tts of itzy).

@@Ryujinsmother That's why I can't stan them. Their lack of identity annoys me too much. I prefer more mature concepts of theirs. IMO songs like cake, gold and sneakers don't work for them and they should stick to teen crush.

@@M-km5icno thank you. What you’re “expecting” of itzy simply isn’t Itzy. Maybe when they’re older but right now they suit the bright concepts of sneakers, cake, and gold.
And if it’s “annoying” you please stay away! Because their identity IS right THERE.
