    The NO BS Traps are amazing definitely my favorite over the MB 750 that I've used for like 8 years. I started with the NO BS last year and they are well worth the money.
    Metal shavings suck so bad. Something I don't hear people talk about much is Flash Burn from the welder or even potentially getting it on your eyes, if you look too long at the Arc. I have 4 years of welding experience and it's mh favorite thing to do. It's extremely fun and enjoyable
    I'm thinking of going to college for welding.

    I build mine similarly...just a heads up to people using a lower amp/smaller stick welders at home...if you are using zinc coated washers, you will need to remove the coating on the washer first or burn through it. I learned this the hard way and my washer at the top fell off in the River. I’d suggest steel washers. Just trying to help.

      I was going to say same. Steel, no coating is always the best and healthiest to weld.

    Awesome video buddy!! It doesn’t take much welding to make Drounding rods!! Some people get all flustered when they hear guys talk about making them & just want to buy them!! I bet it didn’t even take 330 a half hour to make all 18 drounding rods!!

  • @az8405

    Awesome video thanks. I'm not a welder so I hammer a bend over the trap end and use a cable clamp on the drowning end. Not as sleek as your setup but it works.

  • @tallybeaverman9462

    For the stop on the bottom of the drowning rod, I put a bead weld about 1/4" high. It's quicker and I have had welded #9 wire break off after a while. Never lost a bead button at the bottom.
    Also use 3/8's rod 10ft long, it's lighter and will bend slightly to allow a deepwater stab over the hump of the bank. It is easy to straighten when you have a long reach to deepwater. I also use 1/2" short rods for den snare supports, to use double snares on. They drive deep & sturdy, then come out easy. Tough ones you can grip with channel locks and hammer them out of the hole. A couple of good whacks will loosen well enough to pull out by hand.

    Love drowning rods as 100% drowning set providing water is deep enough compared to cable which I found a pain and not as efficient not to mention hauling heavy weights around.

      Why not carry a bag instead of the block and fill the bag with rocks and such once you get there?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here you seldom have a place to fill the bag with sand or rocks. Mostly just muddy dirt or bog mud. That's why I switched to drowning rods. They work everywhere as long as the water is deep enough

    • @330Maniac

      This way the dog or the trigger strike the beaver in the bottom of the neck instead of behind the head. Not causing and fur damage

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never used the fiberglass rods. I'm afraid of the flex in the rod. I do prefer the 10ft rods over the 8 foot rods because majority of places you need that 2 extra feet in length to get them out to deeper.water

  • @johnlindsay8630
    @johnlindsay8630 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Drowning rods are good if you're going to be using them all the time but to carry them back in the bush you're better just to use cable I've trapped all kinds of beaver with cable all kinds and it's nothing to carry him back

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drowning rods are The best to use but Unless you are using a Wheeler or going a short distance cable is nice. Finding weight for the ends can be a pain though.
