    Check Lowes out, got a 18 inch forged swager for under twenty bucks on clearance in the wire cable isle. Works great on 1/16 , 3/32, 1/4, 3/8 ferrules. Wish I'd picked up the rest now, could have given them out for Christmas presents. Nice work one building the snare.

    I was curious what supper collar you use. I have to use vinyl tubing. I dont know if you noticed, but the industry has changed how they do support collars. 10 years ago they were small and fit on all 9 gauge. Past couple of years the wire the collars are made of, has gotten thicker and ill be damned if i can get my american 9 gauge wire to fit in the support collar. Tubing is cheaper and only way for me to support my snare. Also, i like how you put your first alu. stop on. That way the cut end isnt poking you :) very nice touch im going to incorporate that! Thank you sir!
    Edit: oh yeah a buddy of mine gave me a pair of kline side cutters those things cut through snare cable like butter! Kline has life time warranty. Figured might save the spring on your snare cutters if thats your fancy at all

    The 'formula one' dipping, is that just standard car oil or something specific to trapping? Also the slim locks...are the your preference or just what you were using for beaver/water snare sets? Is there a significant difference?

  • @parrotbill9072
    @parrotbill9072 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had them wrapping the swivel around trees, disabling the swivel. So now I place the swivel about a foot from the snare so when they wrap up the extension they can't disable the swivel. Seems to be wodking, the cable isn't getting all twisted up anymore.

    Question: Will a 4mm Double Ferrule work for a 3mm cable, or do I need to go bigger on the Ferrule?

    Have you used relaxing locks?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks. I have used almost every type of lock out there and I honestly do not know what Game Departments mean when they say "Relaxing locks". In my opinion, there are locks and then more aggressive locks - but I do not know of a lock that releases when the animal stops pulling. What I suspect is that the term relaxing lock is just a politically correct term designed to make snaring easier to accept. I have often asked game wardens to name a specific lock that is "relaxing". They can't. I think this might be my next video - a discussion of locks, snares vs cable restraints, etc. Do you think that people would be interested in watching that?

    • @Meattrapper

      Formula 1 is a dye that colors the snares, and makes them slick and close very fast. www.fntpost.com/Products/Formula+One+Trap+Kote

    What size cable do you use for extension cable for beaver

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For extension cables I use 7x7 3/32" cable. It's cheap, flexible and fairly strong. Length is usually 4-6 ft - I'm not picky about length. 5 feet is a good compromise as 100 feet of cable will yield 20 5 foot extensions.

    2 Questions: Have you used the "dogproof" raccoon traps? Haven't seen any of your videos on these, and am curious about your opinion on these. Also: took a group of leghold traps, and placed them in the dishwasher to clean off all of the oil. They developed a patina of light, surface rust which I believe isn't immediately dangerous to them. Should I place anything on them toprotect against fuirteher rust? Is it okay to lightly oil them with Cod Liver Oil, or fish oil from capsules?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leonard Urban Good questions. I do not use DP traps at all. They are a low percentage catch trap compared to foot hold or body grip. Their only good point is they exclude dogs and can be used in populated areas. You traps, once they have that light rust, are ready to be painted or dipped. Do not oil them! For land traps use Full Metal Jacket and for water traps use Formula One. My next video will be on dipping snares with Formula One which is what I use.

    Which wolf cable do you use? 2.5 mm 1 * 19?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not have wolves here, but we have coyotes. They are smaller, about 20 kilos. I use 1x19 3/32 " cable. That translates to 2.381 mm, close to 2.5.
