    Here's my trick, 3 steps
Step 1. Open Spotify, or whatever you use for podcasts
Step 2. Open the Fr. Mike Schmitz podcast
    Step 3. Listen

I do think we need to be careful when interpreting the Bible and look at context, chatechism, cross references etc. But I DO think that we can read the Bible and think about how it personally applies to us and our lives and how God is speaking to us through that passage.

The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible is an excellent option. Currently you can purchase the NT, individual books of the NT, or some individual books of the OT. This is the RSV-2CE translation. There is also The Catholic Study Bible, which is NAB-RE, the Catholic Youth Bible, in NRSV or NAB-RE (don't be put-off by the name), The Didache Bible, RSV-2CE with references to the CCC, The Little Rock Catholic Study Bible, NAB-RE, and the Navarre Bible, which is sold in volumes (RSV with the Vulgate). All NAB-RE have some translation notes. Don't be afraid to look for "used" copies. I have purchased many second-hand, as long as the condition is Good or better.

I’m going to buy myself the adventure Bible! I’m so glad I’m not the only one that struggles
with dyslexia. This should help me focus and read more. It was hard for me to read my regular Bible. Thank you! 🙏🏻

I love to listen to hymns relative to the sections I am reading. I tend to read theologically, if that is a thing, what I mean is that I read many verses about a single theological topic/doctrine, for example the Eucharist; for this I will read the Old Testament Passover passages, the Last Supper narratives in the Synoptic Gospels, and the relative passages in St. John’s Gospel and in 1 Corinthians with my online Catechism at the ready. And a hymn such as “Pange Lingua” playing since it is relative to the Eucharist. Loved the video ♥️ Dominus Tecum ✝️!

I just wanted to share an interesting way to read Sacred Scripture, one aside from reading an entire book over a few days/weeks.

Ascension press also has great adventure bible tabs so that your tabs match the colour coded “chapters” of the great adventure bible. Also pro tip: if you can’t get the great adventure bible, just get the revised standard version 2nd Catholic edition. It’s the same translation, the great adventure bible is just colour coded but if you get their bible tabs you can still get the same colour code

I was born and raised a Catholic and never had a Bible in my home. Several years ago I felt a tug/pull to the Bible. I started reading and studying it but wanted to find a church so I could join a Bible study group to study it with. I called every Catholic Church within 30 miles from my house and not one of them offered a Bible study class or group. It was so sad to find that Protestant church’s had Bible study groups for everyone, women, men, children, etc., but not one of the Catholic Churches offered any.

I know that is several months past the publish date of this video, but I have a question about the translation of the Catholic Bible. So I currently have a Catholic Bible and it's an NLT. However, when I go to my Scripture Study, the Bible they use is of course different from mine. I understand that there are many different translations, but for you, and for the Catholic Church in general, is there a preferred translation that you like to use that is both approved by the Catholic Church and is easy to understand? The one that I currently have says that is it approved by The Catholic Church but the translation is so so different from other Catholic Bibles that I have read from. Thank you very much, and I adore your content :)

NABRE is used in the US lectionary. So when you attend Novus Ordo mass you will hear the NABRE translation. In Canada you will hear either the RSV2CE or NRSV-CE. Tridentine mass (Traditional Latin Mass) will use the Douay-Rheims (said in Latin, but the translation printed in missals is D-R). I believe India uses the ESV-CE, which is a pretty recent approved translation.
There are other translations available, but the key is to find a Catholic imprimatur on the copyright page. That will tell you it's an approved translation. NABRE is easy to understand and is most recognized bc of the use in US novus ordo mass. RSV2CE and NRSV-CE are more scholarly; graduate theology students, seminarians, and professors are likely to use those translations.

Sometimes I really hate living in a predominantly protestant south. All bibles I have are protestant which I fell away from during 2016-2017 in my first year of high school because i seen alot of things were getting idolized and I seen the “prosperity” gospel gibberish start infesting everything. Which lead me down into atheism pretty much for atleast late 2017 till right now in early 2023 at 19. I think I mistakenly equated christianity to mainstream Protestantism and seen it in a negative light. Still in confusion about what I believe though. Really should go find catholic friends to help me get back into it and see what actual Christianity is. I need to address the jaded views I have
