It's amazing to me that even with turboscuffed lobbies Strive has become a staple because no matter how much you hate [character you don't play] at least the game works when you get in a match and has systems to aggregate players loosely according to region and skill
i really wish we lived in a reality were every fg had strives online

@@grotto185 kusoge is japanese shorthand for "shitty game". in fgc sense it's supposed to very broadly refer to fighting games that are unbelievably unbalanced. insane vortex, characters with absolutely unfair reactions, gameplay loop that is extremely unconventional and goes against standard fighting game practice
the issue is that now fgc heads like jiyuna refer to any fighting game that plays very differently as a kusoge.
This is a major reason as to why i fucking despise fighting game discourse: in a community that's already particularly small and niche, especially compared to that of other game genres, there really shouldn't be much of a reason to bite at each other's necks over... video games

Im sad since I played Type Lumina and always wanted to get more into it. Sure the new mechanics are polarizing but thats common in the industry for sequels. The sadness I felt when I booted that game and my strive privelaged ass realized netcode for every modern game is not made the same was heart breaking. When I feel more inclined to go play MBAAC due to having better netcode the company has royally fucked up. Though im happy you are streaming these older games, better influences devs and publishers to put rollback in their games! Thanks for that Sajam.
funny enough I didn't have much problems with the netcode itself, but trying to find players has been the burden, I just stopped playing it because of that

@@survivorofthefire It was very bad in the begining. A lot of onesided rollbacks. Its somewhat fixed now. If you dont skip the intro it works. if you do you might get some rollbacks the first 10 Seconds. Its good till 100 MS and passable till 180 above that it works but not realy enjoyable.

@@survivorofthefire As someone who plays melty and strive regularly, the games have comparable netcode (both are excellent, functional rollback). I like melty more for cross region gameplay since you can alter the delay to make it run smoothly at greater distances. I have to assume some of the issues people are having are because they are trying to run games on delay 0 against people who are further away from them, when they should be picking delay 0-2 based on the ping/jitter. Also, the intro skipping and the mid-match desyncs are things that were fixed after the first few patches but the game launching in such a buggy state understandably hurt the perception of the games netcode.

This particularly irritates me as I've got around 1000 online matches of BBCF with around 200 hours of ingame time on PC (a shitload more on console), and I never have any fucking trouble playing matches. People like this don't represent actual Blazblue players and should be buried under the weight of every other BB player who think's they're fucking idiots.
I think what those people refer to but lack the words for in the moment, is motivation. They want a feeling of a game being active in the general audience's eyes. It gives them a sense of hype and movement. Heck, that's why post-launch support is so important for some.
It may be easy to find people playing the game, but when no one talks about it enough, it can "feel" like the game is dead. If people stopped making content about Team Fortress 2 through shitposts, some people'll stop wanting to play, even if the game currently has over 50K players. A sense of "activity" gives a lot people the push to want to play more. That's also where communities become important, but that's another matter.
yeah like i loooove blazblue but the reason it doesn't have big numbers isn't because streamers abandon it its because it's just kind of a hard game to stick with. its actually exhausting to play long sets in that game, i do it because i love blazblue but it's not for everyone. it's just kind of always going to have middling numbers and that's okay because bb players are passionate and the resources for this game are great so the people who DO stick tend to stay

The only reason TFH is my second most played fighter is because the lobbies and netcode are fucking godlike. I will repeat this as many times as possible: every new fighting game should look at TFH's lobbies, and copy as many features as they can from it.

Been waiting for Yamazaki in KOF and I return to literally no matches found after like 30 minutes of searching across all the modes. This reeks of Sajam’s influence, like he personally wanted to attack me when SNK’s matchmaking didn’t work, smh.

Easy access to a good experience is the key. hell, one of the main reason I play more +R than Strive still to this day is the fact Strive takes forever to load. That's enough already to motivate me to a different game, so you imagine if the experience online isn't even good past that, it's hopeless.

I played KOFXV yesterday with a buddy online since the patch says the rollback got somewhat fixed. It felt really good! I recommend giving it another try if you get the chance.
That's not the issue sadly. I also have no problem playing with friends on my friend list and discord meet ups, but when I load up ranked mode and wait for the game to pair me up with someone, it doesn't work or takes TOO long for a game with rollback. It really sucks but it does affect people's motivation to play, since not everyone has a group of friends they can hit up in the evenings to play.
@@StormHowl yeah I do have that issue too, which doesn't make sense bc I live in a large city and have good internet (800 down, 40 up average) but get very few matches. But for someone like Sajam, he could play room matches with subs or whatever and I remember he had stutters in the room matches when the game came out that make no sense, but some of those may be resolved now, because my games yesterday were way less stuttery at 80ms ping. But yeah matchmaking still sucks no lie.
This has been my personal experience unfortunately. It actually makes me sad. i bought UNI when it was on sale because ive always though Chaos was sucha cool character and i was like alright let me finally get into it. I bought it and did all the trials went on youtube and looked up every single chaos combo and how the game works. i could never find any matches so i quit the game. These days i have a constant debate whether on not i should buy the new fighting game because idk if it will be another SamSho situation it really sucks.

When it comes to me and fighting games the main thing that I care is bang for my buck. As for example I never played granblue and I have wanted to play it. But the price I need to spend is ridiculous. This stuff never goes on sale and I need like over 100 Aussie dollars for everything.

The reason I stopped playing KOF15 was because none of the characters had have any colors referencing streamers. I was disappointed when there weren't any Sajam, Rick, or Maximilian colors

MBTL netcode is good though. On release there were some one-sided rollback issues, which I do think were greatly exaggerated, and they fixed them since then. The rollback feels good, I've really only had issues in that game playing against someone on wifi.

I don't think this one is particularly deep. He was very annoyed by all the hornyposting in chat because he played nine(something I realize must be horribly annoying when it's happening nonstop for hours), but it's just not his main game. He's gone back to it, he made a video where he said it's a blast, but I don't think he was ever going to have BB as The Game he plays. He tends to rotate whenever updates or re-releases happen, and Strive has just been the most consistent rollback game.
I remember Melty Blood getting a patch very early on that helped with connection issues. I can't say for sure if it helped, because I never really experienced any connection issues during the first patch outside of the intro skipping stuff. I wanted to know if you gave the game another try when that patch came out, and if it helped your online experience.

I wanted to get into Granblue. I loved Narmaya cuz I really enjoyed Gen in USF4. But the online was booty cheeks apparently Narmaya was garbage. So it just didn't seem worth it.

the rollback had issues.
Even if a game has rollback they need to optimize it to work well or it wont do its job too well leading to some unsatisfactory matches.
Though they have improved it quite a lot.

people really need to get the fucking message on good rollback. its not a difficult concept. also dear god i hope granblue gets some rollback shit i picked it up to play with my friends recently and actually love it so much soriz is such a beast
they get the message the thing is that development isnt easy. It isnt something that everyone can magically get right the first time. ASW had a lot of luck getting a KI dev very close to guide them and getting it right on launch. Other devs arent as lucky and struggle getting things right.
There is always many things developers run into.
For example Melty blood in ps4 is great but the devs struggle with making PC online good. They are trying their best they know there are issues and still try to work to overcome their problems.

Is Melty Blood still borked on PC? Haven't had troubles on PS4 anymore even with 0 frames of delay so if it's still broken on PC that's unfortunate
PC still has issues yeah. Not as bad as before but still has some issues. Ps4 seems to be the way to go if you want good quality online.
at least they are still trying to improve things over time so maybe at some point things go better for PC(and maybe they add crossplay...)
