Thanks for sharing this lovely village of Donnington, OAAW. From the buildings, it would seem like a more affluent village and some of the dwellings are quite modern. So, I have a question, is the Evenlode Valley pictured at 11:08 or is it the one on 19:44? I bet that breeze that swayed the top of the trees at 15:30 felt lovely! The modern style windows of the first house at 2:28 and that hoop style roof at 17:22 is unlike anything I've seen during your walks. And I have to share that those miniature hedges leading to the doorway of the last house of this walk (20:44) brought a smile to my face - it's adorable....like something you'd see in a children's book. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week ahead!
Good morning Michael. Thank you for your lovely comment. There is quite a variety of architecture in Donnington. Personally, I loved the second house into the walk, it looks modern but whilst also sympathetically built with plenty of Cotswold stone to match it’s surroundings. The view from inside looking out must be stunning! To answer your question, I would say 11:05 would be the view looking out to the Evenlode valley. Oh, btw...I bagged Bagendon for you ; It worked out really well because I got two shots, one of which I completely messed up in the original video (Walked up a hill with houses on the left then turned right onto the road, then after a short distance I stopped for a vista pan shot, there was a post in the way obscuring the second house!). I felt rather satisfied that I got a second chance to correct that little error! Everything happens for a reason, or so they say! Thanks for taking the time to walk with me again. All the very best to you.
@@michaeltichael speaking of which, I’m sorry for the delay, at the moment I am unable to give a specific time for when it will be completed but I’m sure you will think it was worth waiting for once you do eventually get to see it :) All the best. OAAW
Stunning footage the Spanish flag was interesting🤔wonder if they are supporting Spain in the World Cup.Beautiful barn conversion at around 17 minutes.👍
I found your channel a little over a week ago and it has been playing non stop. I want to thank you for sharing these wonderful walks- your slow pace and attention to detail make me feel like I'm along for the walk too! I've really enjoyed seeing the Cotswold area and am so excited to one day see it in person! Cheers from a fellow nature walker, here in the US 💚🌿
Absolutely love the telephone booth library! We have something similar here such as bring one , take one or on your honor situation. Another beautiful and relaxing visual!! Thank you! 👏👏🚶♂
Love this little village. My walk took me on a circular walk from Stow on The Wold through Donnington round through Broadwell and back. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for the memory once again.
Wonderful images. At 13.56 in the mother of all barn conversions. I love the way they matched the stones as they cut that whacking great hole in the front. Dodgy, that. It needs a few bollards to protect all that lovely double glazing from some Friday night celebrant in an SUV. I can just see our friends from “Escape To The Country” drooling over that. All those nice holiday let units! As usual, superb camerawork. Thanks for this. John, Ontario, Canada
Good evening John. I am glad you enjoyed this walk. Yes, that is a stunning barn conversion for sure :) Thanks for forgiving me with regards to last night's video. I always imagine you are all walking with me as I do my walks, it is a great feeling for me knowing just how much you enjoy every single step we take. All the very best to you. OAAW
“There is one timeless way of building. It is a thousand years old, and the same today as it has ever been. The great traditional buildings of the past, the villages and tents and temples in which man feels at home, have always been made by people who were very close to the center of this way. It is not possible to make great buildings, or great towns, beautiful places, places where you feel yourself, places where you feel alive, except by following this way. And, as you will see, this way will lead anyone who looks for it to buildings which are themselves as ancient in their form as the trees and hills, and as our faces are.” (Christopher Alexander) Ditto Sir Roger Scruton
Donnington is a typical village in the region. Very peaceful and nestled in the always beautiful countryside. A house or two does not fit well in the village but otherwise the whole is very beautiful. Thank you Ami OAAW for this sweet walk 😀😀😀😀😀
Beautiful place. I only realised about ten minutes in that I have been there before. I love telephone boxes that have become mini-libraries. Beautifully paced as always. I know this might seem an empty compliment but getting that pacing right is a real skill. Slow enough to let our eyes settle on and enjoy the details without seeming to hover over anything for too long. Your balance here is absolutely spot on. Thanks for a great peaceful walk.
Thank you so much Jago for your lovely comment. I don’t usually watch my own videos on YT but must confess to watching this one on my iPad (to look up a time stamp in the video, normally I watch the exported file on my PC to do this). I was pleasantly surprised just how good it looked! It seemed super smooth! And, just like you say, the pace was just about right, obviously there will be exceptions when we need to speed up according to the environment at the time. I am glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your continued support. All the best to you.

I love the wooden door in the stone wall and the house and garden at 10 minutes is just gorgeous. I was wondering, has anyone ever gotten their knickers in a twist because you filmed their house?
MariVictorius~ I’m sure I’ve seen wooden gates in stone walls before, but the ones in this walk… I don’t know, they stood out to me and seemed very picturesque. Too, when OAAW goes onto what I think is personal property, I think, “Here, in the US you might get shot at….” Ah, the UK….
Good afternoon Mari. Glad you enjoyed this walk. In answer to your question, so far, just the once. Ordinarily, I usually receive warm & friendly smiles from residents & locals and have had some lengthy & nice chats with them. All the best to you. OAAW
Just to clarify...the only time I would consider going onto personal property, is if the property has a public right of way on or through it. Thanks Cheryl, hope that helps demystify :). OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking~ It never occurred to me you were doing anything wrong. (Though I do find the steps [I forget what they are called] to navigate walls and fences intimidating, let alone with a working camera!) My comment was more about England’s civility than laws as opposed to how such things are often treated here in the US. Walk on…. 😉
Ah, I see what you mean :). The steps, perhaps are Stiles', they can be precarious at times especially with a camera and an umbrella. Speaking of which, I did a countryside rain walk yesterday with you in mind as you have been experiencing some crazy hot temperatures lately and hope it gives some welcomed relief by seeing all the greenery and raindrops during the walk. All being well, I should publish it on Wednesday ; All the best to you. OAAW
Good morning! On my walk with you today i noticed that this is a "rich" village with large houses and fancy cars parked in front of almost every house! Also, such vast and empty green spaces ❤. Were those telephone directories in the phone booth? Or was it a sort of a library? Either way it was so cute and quaint😊. In today's fast paced and technologically advanced world it's so heartwarming and nostalgic to see a telephone booth.
Yeah sure, it is effectively a local mini library, you can take a book from there, read it then take it back. Also, books can be donated. All the best to you.
