I had the same blinking light but it happened after I changed my battery. Before switching parts out I went ahead and took my positive and negative cables off the new battery and touched them together for 15 seconds to drain all previous memory and sensors of anything it had known right up till when the old battery started losing its voltage. Put the cables back on and WaLa! Bingo! No more flashing light and ac worked normal again.
Yes I had the same issue and the doors are constantly opening and closing I appreciate the information you have out here cuz we are going to try and recalibrate the doors to stop the movement thank you
Fixed. I had the recirculatory flashing after I replaced my blend door with a generic $20 actuator. I purchased OEM Part# 68299450AA and it solved the problem. Once reset cycle and it was fixed. 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.
This usually happens when you replace or disconnect the battery, all you have to do shut off the caravan and remove the key wait 5 seconds the turn on the key to on position and wait 10 seconds turn on the heater control and try the buttons/switches before starting if all good then you can start the caravan and all done. If it didn’t work keep shutting off the vehicle and repeat it should work. Like the guy said in the video it’s calibration and it needs reset.
Abe that worked like a charm turn on engine then off remove key 5 or so seconds ,put key in it flashed turned to off removed key ,five seconds insert key no flashing started van all back to normal thank you very much,
Abe mis just had that happen to my caravan just yesterday when AAA had to replace the battery and it worked like a charm no dealer or mechanic saying 2 or 3 hundred dollars please thanks much.
Abe mis one question many times I’d pick my wife up from work and have to wait for awhile I would shut off the motor and about 20 or 30 minutes you can hear an actuator cycle under the dash that’s with the key out and it will do it more than once if your there 2 hours or more no one has an idea why . It’s done that since new
I have the same issue. I just replaced both of my actuators on both the driver and passengers sides. Now when I open my car door. you can hear the grinding of the door actuator. it does it 3 times before the light stops blinking and the air starts to flow.
I changed out my faulty driver side blend door actuator and THEN this started happening. Nice thing is you can get it out with just two screws. GCs are hunks of scrap metal. Would be better off turned into cans. Never buy one. I fix one thing, the second I'm done another thing goes off. Have to break myself doing it at home because otherwise I would have paid the value of the van 3 times over in shop repairs.
I have a 2013 dodge caravan that does the same thing! Seems easier to just crank the car a few minutes before I plan to leave the house so I know it'll be working when I go to leave. Lol. If I'm out & about I just roll the windows down until the a/c kicks on🤷♀️
Someone left the key on and ran the battery down on my 2013 Caravan. I put it on the charger for a couple of hours and then drove around for a while without any issues. On the next start up an hour or so later I got the flashing rear defroster light and no control response for about a minute and a check engine light. The local auto parts store said the only code was low battery but the battery and charging system showed good. It appears to a loss of voltage issue.
Same here, for a Dodge Caravan. The Dorman actuator "worked", meaning AC and Heat work properly now, but we have to wait a couple minutes for the calibration to finish each time we get in the van.
Yes,yes,yes I have this problem now with my 2013 dodge grand caravan 3.6 sxt,when I went to the dealer ( which I hate )Thay gave me a made in China one with no way to set it.I can here it moving back and forward on its on, crazy and it takes for ever for it to come on.
I found within about 2 minutes, the computer will retry the HVAC and put out the blinking rear defroster light and the AC starts. It has to do with the HVAC vent actuator not being the exact home position. Hope this helps.
@@melvinflett8887 Mine stops blinking after 1-2 minutes and AC and blower then works. Now in the winter for heat, it takes over 2 minutes for blower heat. Try waiting it out for AC and Heat. I'm going to change the Actuator Switch that tells the computer when the air vents are in their Home Position; the reason for the flashing Rear Defrost light flashing. Lemme know. Thanks
Hello ug! I replaced 3 actuators, driver's side front, 2 right side rear, because they were clicking. Now a month later this problem came up. Now which one should I work on? Freaks me out when the ac doesn't start up right away because I live in Nevada. If you don't have ac in the Summer you don't drive.

My 2015 Caravan just started having same issue. It flashes for about 1 minute and then goes off in a car cold start. I don't know if it is caused by my disconnection of the battery several days ago. I disconnected the battery and reconnected because the dome front light stuck on and wanted to try if the battery disconnect can fix it, turns out it did not fix it, but might have cause this new defrost button blinking issue. The two issues do not look related, such a sh**y car. Anyone fixed it recently and how?
Yep, about 30 seconds of clicking from the dash and light flashing. The clicking sounds like slipping gears. Guess I’m tearing apart a dashboard this weekend 🎉

I had the same issue...This is what worked: This video's solution didn't work for me.(turning both dials simultaneously)...WHY? because MY DEFROST LIGHT WASN'T FLASHING...at the time. So then I took it to a mechanic and got it scanned... Long story short..waiting for parts..I tried again. The DEFROST LIGHT ONLY flashed AFTER IT WAS SCANNED. This video/ his solution only worked when the DEFROST LIGHT flashed. Note I had to do this a few times on start...for some reason sitting over night stuck..after a few tries. I just had my motor mounts replaced and one of the things that had to be done was to disconnect my battery and connected back on when job was finished. I didn’t notice anything until yesterday morning. The light was flashing out of the blue. I hope it’s a quick fix like someone said about resetting the sensors.
Exact same scenario for me! Two mounts replaced then this appeared. Actually, my driver side blend actuator seemed bad before the mount work and I have the replacement part yet to install but when the mechanic replaced the mounts and released the car to me, this exact outcome occurred.

hey bud not all questions show up in my dashboard app if you watch the video i explained that if its flashing it means that it has a issue with one of the actuators once you replace the actuator you would have to calibrate and rescan
I tried to replace the driver blender myself. Got to it revived the 2 screws but it too difficult to finish. I paid $100 to get it finished but now this heater blinking tab and heat on drivers side is occurring. I viewed another vid to reset by turning key to on but not starting it. Then after the systems starts I move the tabs all the way right, slowly, then back slowly 6x without actually starting the engine. Then turn the engine on. You shouldn't have to turn the key back left to off. So the blender door mechanism I bought from Kragen could have been defective. Maybe I can get a scanner to clear the code?
Okay what's your flashing rear defogger sir all my blend doors working as they should I had it on the scanner they all passed except for the one going to the floor and the air is coming out on the floor I can push the buttons and it'll switch but it won't pass on the scanner so what else can it be can you give me a answer back please

Thanks… We got the actuator switched out but the rear defrost light still comes off and on and it takes about 30 seconds for the air to turn on after starting the car.
Mines been doing this. Then we got hit with a -40 -50°c weather and it wouldn't start. Put gasoline antifreeze in and it started but now heat wont even turn on. It does this and when it shuts off heat will not turn on no more
How the heck did you get to that actuator! Mine has been clicking for awhile but it just started the blinking before starting up. Drivers side under the dash...it looks like I have to pull the airbag.
Jason Ullrich i just replaced mine yesterday, i did not have to remove anything it is just a tight space underneath the dash, 2 screws holding it in place, all together it took me 10 minutes to do. It is located on the drivers side to the right of the gas pedal you will need a flashlight to see it.

Disconnect the battery and connect the negative and positive battery connectors……I used electrical tape to hold them together……and left them for 45 minutes…… cranked the car up….and it cleared the problem……hope this helps.
@@davidlautwein1338 Here's all I know. This HVAC system in Chrysler is fucked up. All that stuff is tied together and malfunctions even happen when the key is off. I don't know what to do besides give a dealer lots of money to calibrate it all. Mine is working better but usually I have to sit in a 135° car and wait for a couple minutes for the rear window light to quit flashing and the ac to come on. I hate the goddamn Dodge.

Doing a hard reset sometimes it works.
+&- battery terminals touching for a few hours will do a reset.

My 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan problem exactly, the blinking rear defroster lamp and AC only when it goes out. I will check door switches etc. Thank you.
