The most important update needed is for the MIDI function to be able to operate in Slave mode. Tascam, please add this feature! This greatly increase the value of the M12, especially for MPC users.
that is already great, now if you could make it possible to configure the channels to send to the computer post fader it would be sooooo amazing! I would love that sooo much for doing some live dub! I hope someone hears me out
Yeah I've recorded a bunch of songs onto the model 12 SD card...but can't transfer them to a DAW. & I did manage to do that, but how I had everything mixed & the levels on the Model 12 weren't on the transfer, so I would have to literally do ALL that again in the DAW.
Yesss! Thank you for listening Tascam! What a great fix. One more thing I am constantly frustrated by is the scrolling for renaming files. Could it be fixed that once you select a letter, the cursor stay on that letter and you can scroll nearby instead of it reseting to the beginning of the symbols? Its so annoying... Otherwise I am VERY pleased with this product and would recommend to anyone looking at a hybrid mixer! =)
Could it be possible to allow the use of inserts when in MTR mode? I want to record a dry signal to SD card and add side chain compression to my kick and bass (channels 1 & 2) in the mixing stage.
@TASCAMUSA Hi, I noticed that when the channel Source Switch is set to MTR and MIXER > USB SEND POINT is set to PRE-COMP the track data is not transmitted to USB, this is in conflict with the block diagram; anyway POST-COMP and POST-EQ work as expected. When the the Source Switch is set to LIVE and MIXER > USB SEND POINT is set to PRE-COMP it works as expected (e.g. data is sent to computer). Would you please confirm it is intended to work this way or otherwise release a fix? Thank you Max edit: re-reading the block diagram at 400% zoom revealed two labels in the channel's PRE COMP tap points area that eluded me before. It seems the USB Send data is picked before INPUT MODE SWITCH nodes (drawed with a dashed line), while the REC data is picked after (continuous line).
Can you please add the ability to move the PC Return to a stereo channel or the mains to the Model 16 and 24 as well? I know they have limited upgrade ability because they're analog, but this seems like something that should be doable.
Any possibility to make the each channel fader of the M12 show up as an individual audio device outside of using a DAW or even adding another assignable usb return? It will drastically increase the flexibility of the unit if is it able to send different applications to a specific fader which was what i thought the unit will do out of the box.
Hello! That's a fantastic request, thanks for the feedback and suggestion! I'll make sure to bring this up in our next product development meeting this week!
The model 16 & 24 are analogue mixers. Only the 12 is digital in the model series. That’s why only the 12 has the Daw control fundtion as well. I was going to get a 16 or 24 as I needed more channels but the daw control is one of the main functions I want so going for the 12 instead. Hopefully they will do a mk2 on the future that is the model 16 & 24 built exactly the same as the model 12 so we can have the additional channels without loosing functions.

Hey there. Got any idea why OBS doesn't get any signal from my Microphone? I get sound from Channel 1 and 2 (as for the background instrumentals, both set on PC mode) but my MIC is on Channel 3 (Live Mode, cant hear it if its in PC mode) and it just won't get the signal to OBS despite me selecting it right in the source. Do you know what I can do? (I have TASCAM Model 16)
Hello! First, you'll need to make sure you're operating on firmware v.1.3 or later. Next, follow the link below for all the steps to set up your Model 16 with OBS: tascam.com/downloads/products/tascam/model_16/e_model16_ins_va.pdf
@@TASCAMUSA Thank you. One more question, please. I am trying to record the internal FX into my recording software (example: while recording my vocals with FX on, I want the reverb to be there when I am done recording on my PC). No matter how hard I try, the mic sound only comes out raw and no FX is to be heard on the recording on my PC. Any chance I can fix this? Maybe with some additonal cables...
What are the befits of a hardware multi-tracker compared to a PC one? Thanks. Been thinking of getting an older Tascam 244 cassette MT'er off of eBay but not sure why I need other than it looks cool.
I use a Korg Kronos as a Midi Controller, Can I play my VST Plugins with my Kronos connected to its midi In Out, while the Model 12 is connected to the computer through USB as with other audio interfaces ?
Need to be able to use all channels with this in a DAW; not just two. I'm New to DAWs & have already recorded a bunch of songs on the SD card, & mixed Them all how I want just on the model 12...but I can't transfer them to a DAW. & The only way I have managed to do that, it doesn't transfer the levels, EQ, or anything. So I'd have to redo ALL of that in the DAW...i think? Up until recently I recorded all analog. This is just overcomplicated & it doesn't have to be.

great job solving pc return guys!
Good for the USB return, it’s about time, I might actually use the thing now.

so glad to see ongoing support/updates for the model 12 from @TASCAMUSA -- such a great and versatalie unit.

Hey Tascam Team! For what is the additional Footswitch? What can i Do with the special Footswitch and the Tascam Model 12? Thanks!
is it possible to add in more usb returns in future updates? even just another pair 3/4 that you could assign to headphones would be amazing.

My model 12 firm ware is below the 1.30 update. So do I have to update to the 1.30 and then the 1.40 or will the 1.40 include the 1.30 update? Thanks

Some of us who work on a computer all day prefer to not (or alt least reduce) using a computer to create music.
When will you fix the audio from channels 7/8 so it doesn't bleed through everything else when the AFL button is pressed?
